Why is my DQS_Projects DB so big?

Hello everyone,
My DQS_Projects DB is currently using about 12GB of disk space.  However when I run the dqsinstaller -exportkbs the exported file is not even 3MB.
Can anyone explain why the DQS_Projects DB grows so big, and how/whether I can manage that growth. For reference, in the DQS_Projects DB, there are hundreds(or maybe thousands) of tables created.
For reference, my DQS installation is used by several SSIS ETL packages every day, in our daily ETL run to populate the DW.
Welcome any suggestions or recommendations.
Thanks in advance,
David Jones

Hi David,
that's because every single time you execute a DQS component inside a SSIS package DQS starts a Cleansing Project in its database and it saves it.
You can use a TSQL script to clean your old SSIS-generated projects

  • Why the db file is so big?

    hello,now i use BDB as my database;
    pdb->open(NULL, m_dbName, NULL, DB_QUEUE, DB_CREATE, 0);
    now, there have two processes , one is FEP, the other is DP
    FEP write 10000 datas to DB_QUEUE one second;
    DP read 10000 datas from DB_QUEUE one second;
    after the two processes run one hour, the db file become so big,
    the size of db file is 1,425,796KB ,but there is no record in db file;
    why the db file is so big?
    the db file will become little automatic?
    do you have some APIs to make the db file little?
    thank you!

    Hello,
    Based on your description, it sounds like you didn't assign a queue extent size when you created the database.
    From the BDB Reference Guide, see the section on [Selecting a Queue Extent Size|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17076_02/html/programmer_reference/rq_conf.html#am_conf_extentsize]. It sounds like the behavior that you are looking for is the ability to automatically delete queue extents once they become empty. This feature should do what you're looking for. Refer to the C API Guide ( here ) on how to define a queue extent.
    If you do not want to use Queue extents for some reason, another option would be to call truncate() on the database. However, that will result in deleting any records that might be in the database as well as truncating it.

  • Why is USB on nano so big ?

    My nano works fine but I wonder why the USB connector is soo big on the nano, it makes it tough to plug / unplug with the ear bud connector cable in place - I know a regular USB connector (like the computer end) is bigger than the iPod itself but a long thin connector why, so some of the pins are redundant for a good connection, for a docking station ?

    Yes, it is a USB to dock cable. On the Nano end it is a dock connector.
    On the other end, it is a standard USB

  • Why programms bying me in appstore (big size game) when I synhronized my iPad copy to my MacBook?

    Why programms bying me in appstore (big size game) when I synhronized my iPad with my MacBook copy to my MacBook? I am won't a double copy programs in my iPad (64Gb) and my MacBook!!!!

    what a long post....Apple, btw, does not read this stuff, so ranting, raving, and complaining here might make you feel good, but it does no good at all. That being said, I, too have a Mac Pro Quad Core Xeon with 6 gigs of ram and an nVidia 8800 GT graphics card (not as good as yours, alas) and I've had no problems at all with it. Yes, it doesn't have Thunderbolt, but maybe we Mac pro owners will get lucky and someone will come out with an adapter (probably not). No, you probably don't have to throw away your Mac Pro, but if you do, I'll take it, for a small "recycling" fee >:-) That was a joke.  Yes, the Mac Pro's future isn't quite clear, YET. Hopefully that will improve very soon. As for not being able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Don't worry about that too much, Nobody is forcing you to do that.  Your Mac Pro won't quit working if it isn't installed. From what  I've heard, you should give the new OS a chance, and wait to get it, in case there might be some bugs, or stuff not working with the new OS, which has been known to happen. Yes, we Mac Pro owners don't like being treated like mushrooms-kept in the dark, and being fed......... but Apple is Apple and it will do what it does, and there is nothing you or me can really do to change that. All I can say is....trust, have faith, be patient, go for a walk, do something else to take your mind off of this problem. IF apple decides to drop the Mac Pro for good, and that's a big "IF", I think they will anger a whole bunch of people
    which isn't good. However, that hasn't happened...YET. Let us hope that it doesn't

  • Why is the file size very big when I add captive runtime?

    I have a game that is 2.56 MB. When I package it up for a captive runtime apk it becomes 12.2 MB. This is very reasonable, but my problem is that when I add this apk on my phone through debugging, the size of the game jumps from 12.2 MB to 30.7 MB! I am using Air 3.9 and I don't understand why it is that big, can anyone help me please!

    IPA and APK are .zip files in disguise. Your app is simply unzipping all or a portion of itself when it is installed, depending on OS. For example one of mine is 35MB (APK) and it goes to 50.2MB after install every time.
    The captive runtime has little to do with it besides it's just one more compressed item. If you added any other random ~10MB of assets instead of captive runtime, depending on the content you'd end up with around the same size app anyhow.

    It is NOT the same vi!!! You need to familiarize yourself with dataflow, LabVIEW does NOT execute left to right, any part can execute if all inputs have data.
    In your particular case, the "file info" will execute at the same time you are building the file path. In addition, you are measuring the size of the stripped path and not of the new file. Try execution highlighting!
    To fix your code:
    You need to get the "file info" from the path AFTER you add the new filename.
    Use the error cluster to enforce proper execution order as in my example. WIre the error out of "close" to the error in of "File info". Now the "File info" must wait until all inputs have data, which can only happen after "close" has completed.
    All clear?

  • Why does AddWatermark make file so big?

    I have created a 600 x 253 72 dpi gif file.  It is only 36kb in size.  When I take a 7 page 220kb PDF file and do a cfpdf action="addwatermark" to the file, it grows from 220kb to a whopping 1.3 MB!
    Strangely enough, if I open the same file in Adobe Acrobat Professional and manually add the exact same gif file as a watermark to the exact same PDF file, the result file actually got SMALLER!?!?!
    You don't believe me?  Try it yourself.
    Image file: https://www.calcerts.com/images/logo_main_watermark_color.gif
    Original PDF: https://www.calcerts.com/BB4031.pdf
    PDF File after doing a simple addwatermark: https://www.calcerts.com/BB4031_WTF.pdf
    PDF File if I add the image as a watermark in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8: https://www.calcerts.com/BB4031_AdobeWatermarked.pdf
    The code I used was this:
    <cfpdf action="addwatermark"
      source="d:\BB4031.pdf"
      destination="d:\BB4031_WTF.pdf"
      image="D:\images\logo_main_watermark_color.gif"
      opacity = 2
      foreground = "yes"
      rotation = 0
      showonprint = "yes"
      overwrite="yes"
      position = "0,250"
      >

    ok, Qui-Gon.....  Teach a man to fish, and that sort of thing, right?
    I found the Page Number footer code in the CFC, did not think to look there.  I thought it would have been in the CFM.  So that's done, thanks.
    I added (and modified) the footer info into the Watermark example:
    --WATERMARK CODE WORKS, SO I WON'T WASTE YOUR TIME POSTING THAT--
    //add the javaloader dynamic proxy library (and my iText jar) to the javaloader
    libpaths = [];
    arrayAppend(libpaths, expandPath("/CustCFX/javaLoader/support/cfcdynamicproxy/lib/cfcdynamicproxy.jar"));
    arrayAppend(libpaths, expandPath("/CustCFX/javaLoader/itext/iText-2.1.7.jar") );
    //we HAVE to load the ColdFusion class path to use the dynamic proxy, as it uses ColdFusion's classes
    loader = createObject("component", "CustCFX.javaLoader.JavaLoader").init(loadPaths=libpaths, loadColdFusionClassPath=true);
    //initialize the building blocks used by the custom page handler
    textColor = loader.create("java.awt.Color").decode( "##000000" );
    BaseFont = loader.create("com.lowagie.text.pdf.BaseFont");
    textFont = BaseFont.createFont(BaseFont.COURIER, BaseFont.WINANSI, BaseFont.EMBEDDED);
    //intialize the page event handler component
    eventHandler = createObject("component", "CustCFX.betterPdfPageEventHandler.PdfPageEventHandler").init( font=textFont, fontSize=8, textColor=textColor);
    eventHandler.setFooterText( "My Cool Footer - The Force is with ME!!!");
    //we can pass in an array of strings which name all the interfaces we want out dynamic proxy to implement
    interfaces = ["com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfPageEvent"];
    //get a reference to the dynamic proxy class
    CFCDynamicProxy = loader.create("com.compoundtheory.coldfusion.cfc.CFCDynamicProxy");
    // create a proxy that we will pass to the iText writer
    eventHandlerProxy = CFCDynamicProxy.createInstance(eventHandler, interfaces);
    // adding content to each page
    i = 0;
    while (i LT totalPages) {
       i = i + 1;
       // Prepare to place image on OVERcontent
       content = pdfStamper.getOverContent( javacast("int", i) );
       // Only needed if you are changing the opacity, blending, etcetera ..
       content.setGState(gState);
       // Center the watermark. Note - using deprecated methods for CF8/iText 1.4 compatability
       rectangle = pdfStamper.getReader().getPageSizeWithRotation( javacast("int", i) );
       x = rectangle.left() + (rectangle.width() - img.plainWidth()) / 2;
       y = rectangle.bottom() + (rectangle.height() - img.plainHeight()) / 2;
       img.setAbsolutePosition(x, y);
       content.addImage(img);
       content.saveState();
       content.beginText();
       NOW WHAT?!?!
    I tried: content.setPageEvent( eventHandlerProxy ); like in the Footer example, but that errored out.  I understand what is SUPPOSED to happen here, but I am not getting the syntax.  At this point, I need to apply the eventHandler to the content.  But what everything I have tried has errored out.
    One thing that I have learned is that syntax is EVERYTHING with script (that's why I love ColdFusion so much, it's much more foregiving for us non-purebread programmers.
    so once I hvae initiate the beginText, what is the syntax for applying the eventHandler to content?

  • Why are LabVIEW 8 projects so big (installer dir contais about 70MB) after the build.

    Dear wire workers
    I got my LV 8 and played around with it.
    The new project is a great enhancement but one thing realy is nearly amazing.
    In LV 5 a app buid of a comparable project was 5MB.
    In LV 7.1.1 about 10MB and in LV 8 about 70MB.
    For what?
    I just user nearly the same functionalities.
    One thing that separates the 7.1.1 projects from the 8 is that you can not longer
    chose witch part of the runtime you want to use. The only Option in the settings
    is full. So I have to take all or nothing.
    That makes it nearly impossible to post my app. to the customer by e-mail.
    Is anyone out there with a hint to avoid such a big installer?
    With kind regards

    The Run Time engine is indeed larger with LV 8. I expect it will grow
    with every new release to accomidate the new features, and there's a
    lot of those with 8.
    The application builder is actually more configurable with 8. Look at
    the "Additional Installer", section of the builder and make sure
    nothing is selected that doesn't need to be. It looks like 60-70 meg is
    going to be the minimum size if you include the RTE with the
    application. Remember, you only need to do this once as Altenbach said.
    Make multiple build settings if you want. One with the installer and
    RTE, one with just the installer, I even make one that doesn't include
    an installer, just the executable.
    For one project I'm working on, I get total sizes of:
    App installer + RTE = 67MB
    App installer = 9MB
    Just .exe = 2MB
    Make sure to explore all the settings to all teh good from the builder you can.

  • Why is the backup twice as big?

    I scanned the Freeagent drive with Grand Perspective and it was 417 GB, almost twice as big as the iMac scan (Macintosh HD): 221 GB. As far as I can recall, I've only ever used that drive for Time Machine backups. The biggest item is the iPhoto library: 131 GB becomes a 195 GB backup. I've got way too many photos, I'm trying to get rid of the also-rans. It bugs me that Time Machine is evidently backing up these photos that I don't want. There's a colorful phrase in Japanese for someone you're trying to get rid of but they keep tagging along: kingyo no fun (goldfish crap). That's how I feel about those photos.
    Is there some way, with some other software or something, that I can just get an exact copy of what's on my iMac? I appreciate the safety-net function, but I'd like to be able to tell Time Machine, thanks, but you can get rid of that stuff now, just keep the 221 GB, and spread a new safety net.

    Yeah, TM keeps copies of any changed files.
    I don't use TM at all, I use these...

  • Why does "generate db doc" create big _Flashback files?

    I had not noticed this before, but I now see "generate db doc" creates big TABLENAME_Flashback.html files. This is even if I purge the recyclebin, and observed under 3.0 and 3.1. The content looks like the following:
    Operation VERSIONS_XID VERSIONS_STARTSCN VERSIONS_ENDSCN ROW_ID NOW_SCN
    Original null null null oracle.sql.ROWID@4cb8382c 9515209730
    Original null null null oracle.sql.ROWID@526ff80d 9515209730
    Original null null null oracle.sql.ROWID@350647c3 9515209730

    Someone reported this last week and I think it was identified as a bug. Not in time for the 3.1 release though.

  • Why is my google box so BIG and my website box so small?

    why does my google box so long and the website box so small.
    I can't read the sebsite address and such a long google box is unecessary. Did i hit some weird combination of buttons?

    simple answer is that your iPhoto library size depends on the number of photos and size of those photos - how many photos do you have> What version of iPhtoo? Of the OS? how large is a typical photo?
    as to iCloud - no photos are stored in iCloud (except your IOS device backups) - iCloud today is a way to share photos - not store them

  • Why is this file so darn big?

    I needed to pull some video off a dvd. I used Toast and the file was 3.8 gig. When I exported the video to a DV quicktime file to open it with iMovie, it grew to a whopping 20 gig. Why is that? Should I convert the dv to a quicktime movie? Or do something else? Thanks. . . .Jim C

    When you converted the video from the DVD to DV, the process involved creates a bigger file that has more "potential" quality. i.e. the DV format is higher quality than the compressed DVD data. Unfortunately you don't get to enjoy any of that potential quality. The data that gets converted is to DV is still the compressed DVD quality.
    It's the inverse of taking a DV movie made in iMovie and creating a DVD. The massive iMovie file gets converted to much smaller, compressed and lower quality DVD data.
    Hope this helps.

    im getting really frustrated, if I type a sentence with ️hehe or ️babe it puts a big gap <-- like the
    gaps you can see there, I don't know how to stop it, I've tried adding ️hehe to the keyboard shortcuts, that didnt

    Hello, BriceQc.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    I understand that your iPhone 6 will not default to your Wi-Fi network unless in Airplane Mode.  I would need a little more information regarding your router type, password protocol used and iOS software installed to provided a better answer.  However, try updating your router firmware and go through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

  • Why is premiere creating one really big clip instead of many smaller ones when I am trying to create multicam source sequences

    Ok I am trying to create multicam clips from a shoot.   I have 198 clips from two to three cameras and an audio source.   I have created multicam clips in the past by simply putting them all into one bin, selecting all, right click, Create multicam source sequence, and then it processes them and creates multicam clips for me to use to edit.
    I am doing that process now to only have PP make one really big clip instead of a bunch of little ones.   Help!

    And the other thing I think of is that you opened up the multicamera sequence as a New Sequence From Clip, instead of Open in Timeline.
    That would give you one long flat sequence, but 198 panels if you opened it in your multicamera monitor

  • Why does my audio quality drop big time when I use the compressor to compress my final cut studio project?

    Hi,
    When I'm working on a project, my audio sounds great but once I put my project though the compressor it looses it's volume big time when I play the DVD on a DVD player or computer. Where does the problem lie? How do I maintain the smae quailty of audio on the finished DVD?
    thanks in advance,
    Iki

    You'll need to duplicate the Dolby Digital preset then alter the duplicate so that the DialNorm setting is -31dbfs and the Compression is set to NONE. Use the new, custom preset to create an ac3 file with the same output levels you had in your FCP Sequence.
