WHy must I shut down firefox to get it to show changes in my web site? Safari has a refresh button that does this, but there isn'r any such thing in Firefx.

I have changed the fonts on some of my web pages. I would like to preview them before quiting, but Firefox doesn't refresh teh pages. Changing to another site and then reopening my site doesn't do it, even though the pages show correctly on another computer. The only way the page will display the new changes is to shut Firefox down and reopen it. This makes it arduous when working on changes to my site.
Is there a setting or preference that will allow this?

  • I went to Firefox extentions to remove facesmooch, but there isn't any extensions listed, how else can i get rid of it?

I downloaded a free youtube downloader and told it I didn't want facesmooch, but it installed it anyway and now I can't get rid of it. I have tried going to the add-ons manager and removing it from the extensions, but there are no extensions listed, it isn't in add/remove programs, the file I downloaded isn't a folder so I can't "get in to it", and I have uninstalled and deleted all content related to the youtube downloader. Please help me get rid of facesmooch.

Sounds like some form of ad-aware.
Boot up your pc in safe mode w/ networking, open FF and type "about:plugins" in the url address bar. Take note of anything that looks like it may be associated w/ "Facemooch". Close FF and do a search for any malicious looking files listed under the plugin section and append "bak" to the extension. You may need to open task manager prior to doing this to ensure the file isn't running, if "rundll32.exe or a malicious looking file, a simple search should be able to determine this, end the task prior to changing the extension (ie. somefile.dll.bak) <- this can be changed in the search wizard.
Fire up msconfig while your still in Safe Mode, and uncheck any startup programs that are of unknown origin. (this does not delete anything, but just keeps it from booting at startup) msconfig should be available from the run command, just type in "msconfig" and enter.
norton also has a freeware program called "autorun", very useful in stopping malicious files in their tracks.
Most file validity can usually be determined by the directory they are lying in, for example, most viruses or malicious programs tend to load themselves into the c://windows/system32 directory or root directory (synonym).

  • Running Firefox 4.1 on Windows XP Pro. The issue I'm having is that each time I shut down Firefox, I get an "Quicktime failed to initialize - Error #0", often multiple times. I have upgraded recently and my daughter loaded itunes (since removed).

This happens at least twice each time I close Firefox. I have done web searches and seen this issue posted, but found no solution.

  • How do I shut down Firefox to install updates (turning my Dell desktop computer off & then on has no effect) ?

When I log on to Firefox a message appears "Update could not be installed. Make sure no other copies of Firefox are running on your computer"

    Hi there dechonj,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

P.S. The iTunes media is kept in a separate location from the iTunes application, so it is unlikely that you music is damaged.

  • What would make an email received show a bunch or A s in boxes? Gerald's is doing this but mine gets the same email and it all shows up.

In Mail 6.3 on 15" Macbook pro, an email received show a bunch of A's in square boxes.  On an Identical Laptop, everything shows up fine. I cant find any configuration differences, but I may not know where to look.  Any help out there?

These symbols are from Apple's Last Resort font, and indicate that a major problem has arisen with the OS's ability to use the basic system fonts.Boot up cmd-r and re-install OS X, This will be an install in place and should not effect any of your own files.
EDIT: But if it's only happening on one email and not throughout the system, it may be the email that was sent, itself having a font that can't be read.

  • Firefox 18.0 crashes when I shut down Firefox on a 32-bit computer. OK in 64-bit computer.

Firefox 18.0 works well when I open it on a 32-bit desktop. I can open any website (I use only one tab). But when I shut down Firefox, I get the "Firefox crashed" message. It reloads ok, but I've never had this problem with any Firefox version before. I downloaded another copy of 18.0 and the same thing happened. 18.0 works perfectly on a 64-bit laptop. Both computers are wired to the router. I keep my security, Windows 7, etc. updated.
If I can download 17.x, I'd like to see if it happens there, too It never did before. I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

  • Hi to all, I use Windows 7, 64Bit and Lightroom 5.7, Camera Raw 8.7, when I develop or export files (mostly Raw Fils from Nikon D810) after 10 to 20 pictures my computer shuts down or I get a bluescreen. Please tell me why.

Blue screen/Computer shuts down is almost always a hardware malfunction or a driver problem.
Make sure your video driver is up to date.
If it is, then the next suspect, in my mind, is overheating, make sure all of the fans in your CPU case are working properly.

  • Why is Mozilla shutting down by itself ?

Why is Mozilla shutting down bt itself. I seem to happen about every 24 hours. It just shuts down for no reason and has to be re-started.

What exactly happens and do you get any error messages ?
Is it the whole computer that shuts down or just the Firefox browser ?
Quite a few possible reasons but two are
    # The computer overheats.
    # You run out of memory
If your computer has a variable speed fan you will probably note that running at high speed, if you are in danger of overheating. Software is available that will monitor and check temperatures. Dust build up or obstructed ventilation are possible causes, & probably noticeable if watching videos.
Firefox or the computer may crash in some circumstances if there is no more available RAM memory or HDD space. That is probably more likely to cause a Firefox crash rather than the whole computer crashing.

  • Compuserve Must Be Shut Down

While attempting to replace the flash player, I was advised
that Firefox and Compuserve must be shut down. Firefox, no problem,
but I don't have Compuserve on my machine. But a comment in another
thread gave me the clue -- the flash installer saw CS.EXE running,
and assumed it was Compuserve. In fact, it is CalendarScope, from
Duality Software. Killing that task allowed the install to proceed.
(The kill was done via task manager Processses tab; in retrospect,
I might have been able to simply stop the CalendarScope task by
    closing the application.)
RECOMMENDATION: Shutdown Required messsge should cite both
the program name to be shut down and the assumed associated
    applicaiton.

THANK YOU! CalendarScope was the mysterious Compuserve. To shut it down you have to EXIT, not CLOSE.

  • After closing Firefox, at times I have to use task manger to shut down firefox.exe*32 at times,

As my title says, after closing Firefox, at times I have to use task manger to shut down firefox.exe*32 at times. I've left it running for up to 5 minutes to see if it shuts down/closes and it doesn't. I've also reloaded Firefox. My system is a Lenovo H210 with 3 gig of Ram and no added video card, the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1. I realize the memory is on the small side. I did try to update VLC player this morning to V 2.1.2 but it fails to run after instal due to file errors.
