Why when mountain lion is downloading it keeps giving me 403 forbidden, even though all systems are up to date?

I just recently purchased the lastest version of Mountain Lion. I am currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 which is the lastest version, and should be compatiable to download Mountain Lion. My computer meets all the requirements in order for the operating system to download, but everytime it gets about halfway through the download it stops and the error screen pops up and says Error: could not download...403 Forbidden. What is going on? I don't know what to do, and I can't get it to download after 4 tries, and all of my programs are up-to-date. What do I do?

You don't sync the MM calendar anymore, you subscribe to it in iCal,
    iCal>Preferences>Accounts, enter the details here.
MM should be the default calendar on all clients.

when I get a message my iphone 4s only vibrates even though all sounds are on and when someone calls the sound works perfectly normal.

Try a reset. To reset the iPhone, press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the slide to power off prompt). If that doesn't work, perform a Restore via iTunes (from backup).

Check system preferences to make sure you have iCal and your photostream checkmarked to TRUE.
If you still have problems, give us more details.
Also, make sure the calendar in iCal you're using/looking at is not "On My Mac", but actually an iCloud one.

  • Why does Mountain Lion stop downloading at 10mb?! HELP!

I keep trying to update my operating system to Mountain Lion. Everytime I download it, it downloads up to 10mb and then restarts back to zero. It does this
three times and then gives me this error: "The application could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again" I have done EVERYTHING I have read online from other discussion groups and websites. My internet connection is fine...I've even plugged my iMac directly into the cable and router....my computer is compatible, newer, and has enough memory....I've tried "unhiding" my update purchase...I've tried with my computer in safe boot mode... I have gone through every troubelshooting step I could find, and can't get mountain lion on! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Why is Mountain Lion now Downloading?

I am trying to download and install Mountain Lion onto my MacBookPro that I purchased today and it is not downloading. I was told that the download would take about 20 minutes and then the installation would take about 2 hours. The download has been running for 3 hours and has not made any progress. Any suggestions?

The download usually take much longer then the install. That is unless you have a Super FAST internet connection.
Mt Lion download is 4.3GBs PLUS! So depending on your internet connection speed the download can take upwards of 2-3 hours.
If you are doing it by WiFi, IE your computer is connected to your home/business router wirelessly, any drop in the WiFi connection between computer and router will KILL the download and you will have to start over.
Best is to connect the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable so you don't have to worry about WiFi drop out.
Also you do know that you qualify for a Free Upgrade to Mt Lion by going to the UpToDate Apple site and filling out a form and then Apple sends you an Email with a code to download M Lion for free. But that may be to late IF you have already purchased it. Apple doesn't like to give refunds on software.

  • Windows 8 user cannot connect to public OS X Lion share as Guest, keeps asking for a password even though the folder is public?

    As title suggests...
OS X Mountain Lion public share works fine for Mac's but as a guest from Windows its adamant it wants a password. If I use proper credentials it will allow me in the public share from the windows PC but I dont want to add creditinatials it should be an open folder to Network (LAN) WORKGROUP users.
OS X Guest account is set to "allow guests to connect to shared folders"
The Public folder is set in "Sharing" as READ ONLY everyone.
Mac's can access the share without needing credentials.
Windows PC asks for Username and Pass (have tried Guest (no password) or just pressing enter (no details)
Searched these forums see a few other people with similar problems yet no Answers

  • I need to update Firefox, but it keeps saying that Firefox needs to be closed first (even though all windows are closed). I cannot install or remove Firefox files due to this problem.

Firefox was unable to open google, and I saw there was an update for that problem, but I am unable to install the update (or any update for that matter) as well as removing Firefox. Every time I try to do so, I get a message that I must close Firefox first (even though there are no windows open). I checked applications to be sure, and it does not appear Firefox is running when this happens.

Hi kshikuma. This happens to me sometimes, as well.
To solve this issue, open the Windows Task Manager by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Go to the "Processes" tab and see if a process named "firefox.exe" or "plugin-container.exe" is opened. Close any and all such processes by right-clicking them and selecting "End Process".

  • Why is Mountain Lion not downloading?

I am new (literally as of today) to mac....it's been sitting in launchpad and it says it's downloading but it's been like that for over three hours not loading a single bit.... I've tried restarting my computer and re-starting the download once but that didn't work. What's going on?
Also, where is microsoft word located?

You may be causing your own problem. There are tons of people downloading 10.8. If your internet speed is not fast then it can take up to 5 hours to download it. Be patient! Ours took around 4 hours. Well worth it though.
BTW, WELCOME to Mac! You'll be glad you switched

  • AirPlay icon keeps appearing in menu bar even though no devices are available

I've been experiencing this issue on my 2014 MacBook Air ever since I upgraded to Yosemite.
The AirPlay icon will randomly pop up in the menu bar and when I click on it, there are no AirPlay devices detected (which means the icon should have never popped up in the first place).
The frequency in which this occurs appears to be completely random. Sometimes it will go a week or two between occurrences and other times it will pop up several times a day. Over the last week, it's been popping up every day (what finally prompted me to make this post).
I've tried disabling both wireless and Bluetooth when the icon appears and it doesn't seem to have any effect.
This is starting to get really annoying. There's always that little part of me that's worried about somebody seeing me type in my credit card info or something.
Anyway, has anybody else experienced this? If this is some sort of bug, is Apple aware of it? Is there any way to just disable AirPlay altogether?
    Thanks

  • When using Firefox and Bing, auto search suggestions will not populate even though all options for it are enabled.

If I try to perform a search using Firefox as my browser, and Bing as my search engine, auto suggestions will not populate. I can use other search engines with Firefox and they work, and I can use Bing in other browsers and it works.

If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firewalls this].
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls AV/Firewalls Configuration]
If security software issues can be ruled out, you can also reset Firefox and check.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Mavericks is an upgraded System in the same way that Mountain Lion was, the difference being that it's free. You can download the installer from the Mac App Store (the system requirements are the same as for Mountain Lion so you should be OK there). I've not got it: reports suggest that it is an improvement over Mountain Lion but it has some quirks that may or may not be an issue for you. It has its own forum, so you could look there for information.
