Wifi pcmcia card with antenna for PB g4...

Will any wireless card work in the pcmcia slot of my PB G4 or does it need to be Apple specific? I already have the built in Airport extreme but I want to get a pcmcia card that has an external antenna attachment. My neighborhood has free wifi spots that are a bit out of range.

  • Using a Verizon pcmcia card with my iMac desktop

I purchased an iMac desktop computer last week.
Unfortunately, the only way to access the internet in the rural area where I live is via a Verizon wireless card.
Is there a way to use a pcmcia card with my iMac desktop? I know that there is a USB to pcmcia card adapter for PC's, but I have not seen one for the iMac.
Or can this card somehow be creatively hooked up to a wireless network device so I can use the built in airport device to connect to it?
    Please help!!
iMac Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Verizon has an adapter that will work - U720 I believe is the model. However, any similar adapter should work. Also, most cell phones can be used as modems with the proper cable. You can purchase cables for your cell phone model from your cell provider's local outlets.

  • Can i buy developer id using my wife credit card with her permission

can i buy developer id using my wife credit card with her permission?

When you enter the Developer program, you have to leave the internet in a sense. You are entering a business relationship with Apple. That is why developers have to submit personal information and cannot act anonymously unless they have a legal right to do so (via a corporation). You wouldn't want to put a successful app at risk by violating the Apple Developer terms of use which clearly state, "The Apple ID and password you use to login as a Registered Apple Developer cannot be shared in any way or with any one."
Furthermore, choosing to develops apps under a female name is, unfortunately, going to attract attention to begin with. It shouldn't matter, but it does.

  • Gift-cards with preorder for iPhone 4?

I am going to pre-order the iPhone 4 online on the 15th and choose to pick it up in the store. But I'm confused about what it means to pre-order.
Are you actually making a purchase? or just reserving an iPhone to purchase in the store?
If you have to buy on-line when you pre-order, can you use 2 or 3 apple gift cards for the purchase? or do you have to use a credit card?
    thanks!

You do know that contacts are NOT part of the iTunes backup, right?  The only part of contacts that get backed up is the information needed to maintain your favorites and recent call log.
Contacts are meant to live permanently on your computer (Outlook, Address Book) or a cloud-service (Google, iCloud) for safekeeping and archival.
Sounds like you might not have been using your phone as recommended and that your contacts are gone.  That's unfortunate.  Now might be a good time to review the User Guide to refamiliarize yourself with the way you should be using your phone to minimize data loss in the future.
    Good luck.

  • Best sd card with class for my Lumia 520 in 32gb

I want to know that which sd card I purchase of 16 gb or 32 gb that will satisfatorily work in my Lumia 520

Welcome to the Linux world. I have been a Linux user for 10 years and I can tell you that you will get no support except from fellow users. Learn to use the Linux user boards and also google.
    This might help:
    Linux board
put a memory card in the slot and run from the command line:
    sudo modprobe usb-storage
If this solves your problem, try adding usb-storage to your /etc/modules file so that when your computer restarts it will automatically load the usb-storage module.
You may even have to manually mount the memory card. Install gparted from apt-get and check if the memory card does not show up as an unmounted storage device...then you can manually mount it by using the command line. You may also have to edit the fstab entries to make it hot pluggable.
Post back if you do not understand any part of this or need more help.

  • Wifi Card with the E2

Has anyone out there used/using the palm wifi sd card with the Tungsten E2?  How easy is it to work?  I was thinking of checking it out but was wondering if it is really worth it.  I have a wifi enabled system here and wanted to play around with the E2 and its wifi functions
    thanks

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Hello jeridmar6, I've never used the card with an E2, but with my Zire72 it was fun!
It quickly went through the battery's charge, but I used to get a solid hour's worth of Wifi use before needing to recharge.
Just remember, it's a very old card by today's standards and the only security it can do is WEP encryption.  If you're running WPA or higher it will require you to back down a bit.

  • WRT54GS & PCMCIA Card

I'm currently using the WRT54GS Router with my laptop's built in WiFi and it's seems to be working pretty good for now.  Would I see better results by using the matching PCMCIA card with SpeedBooster?

Having the SpeedBoost Router and SpeedBoost PC Card would NOT make much of a difference?  The Router and Card descriptions indicate a performance increase of up to 35%.

  • Satellite 2410-413: USB2 PCMCIA card doesn't work

Good morning. It is my first time on a forum, and my English is poor.
I have tried to install a PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports (hw & sw) on my Satellite 2410-413 in order to use a DTV dongle (hw & sw).
It will not work: The ports seem to be declared all right in the computer but in effect, a simple 64 MB USB-2 memory key [a Sony "micro-vault" key), will not work, and neither will the Winfast DTV dongle.
Paradoxically, both the mem key will work on any of the three USB-1 ports, and the DV dongle will light up on any USB-1 port. The PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports is new. I cannot locate the origin of the problem.
Would any one help me with this question?
Thank you in aadvance for your reply. Here is (maybe ?)
Another way of formulating the question: how are USB ports managed by the system?

    Many thanks to you Mike30.
I have a couple of ideas now:
    - supplying the USB2 card with additional power (ie other power than computer), (but how?)
    - uninstalling and further, re-installing the USB2 "Truewin" PCMCIA card bus, and after that trying the "leadtek-brand" DTV sw.
    Cheers,

  • Has anyone gotten the FBUS PCMCIA card to work on a PCI to PCMCIA adapter board?

I have lots of success with the PCMCIA card in laptop PCMCIA slots, but no luck with the PCMCIA card in a desktop PC with a Quatech PCD-B/PCI-E PCI adapter for PCMCIA boards.  I am thinking that my problem resides with the adapter board but I would like to know if anyone has had success with the FBUS series 2 PCMCIA card with a PCI to PCMCIA adapter.  I got a WinXP SP2 IBM ThinkCentre desktop.  Thanks

We have ever used some PCMCIA to PCI adaptors, they are working properly with NI PCMCIA-FBUS card as well as NI-FBUS software.
I'd like to recommend the single CardBus PCMCIA slot adaptor from Elan Digital System:
    http://www.elandigitalsystems.com/adapter/pci.php
We have used the adaptor in a Dell Dimension desktop, running XP SP2, and NI-FBUS Configurator 3.1.1 runs well.
Another adaptor is a long card, which is Gigabyte GA-MPCI, it works well with some old desktops, but the length of the card is about twice of the card of Elan Digital System; it might not fit your requirement.
    Hope it helps.

  • S300 supported Wifi/Bluetooth Cards ???

    Hi guys,
i already bought an Lenovo Ideapad S300.
I tried to replace the existing WiFI/Bluetooth Card with an Atheros AR5B195 Card but I realized that Lenovo has an BIOS blockage for those cards.
I got two Questions now :
    1. Is there a White List for the S300 Model? And if so, please tell me the Cards on.
    2. In Bios Update Notifications for v8.07 is a hint "Add support 4 new WLAN cards".
Which are these cards? And should I update to v8.09 than for better card support?
    Thank you for your help.
My actual Bios Version is 6DCN88WW(v8.02).

I don't know about the WiFi card, but do you have a link to the Bios files you mention?

  • Which pcmcia wifi card to get for pb17" with Airport already installed?

Title says it all really... after 3 years the airport connection to all 3 of my apple base stations (1 X new airport extreme and 2 X airport expresses) is pathetic
Thought about a USB wifi stick - but that sticks out too much - would prefer to get a pcmcia card as I don't use it for anything else
So anyone have experience of which one to get?
Note that i've got airport express already installed in the pb - so would need to disable that or something - prefer it to be compatible without having to remove it - cos it's easier that way
    Thanks all

guess everyone is off in the MacBook forums!
    sigh

  • Wifi prism pcmcia card and problems with ctrl module insert

    hi
probably until initrd based kernel i can't control what module for my pcmcia wireless card zcom 325h will be used.
i think the process inserting modules for pcmcia devices is maintined by tools from pcmcia-cs pkg.
devices assigned to drivers via manfid are in /etc/pcmcia/config and in name order included /etc/pcmcia/*.conf
but when was hostap driver moved from own package into the kernel package the /etc/pcmcia/hostap.conf was removed and now i don't know how to disallow to load this ugly module after pcmcia card inserting
i would like to use orinoco_cs instead.
    thanks for any help

    Hello,
I am owner of AR8131 which runs with atl1c without problems.
Unfortionally it seems that module does not have any optional parameters so i guess it wont be "easy" fix.
    hits:
check your bios for "NET AI" or w/e named function that checks for bad cabels ( got many problems in the past with nvidia cards if i remember correct with those type of functions )
In any case wish ya luck

  • Intermittent issue with Wifi network card.

Nothing can be more annoying than an intermittent issue. Unfortunately it does happen to my MBP. This is the new MBP purchase Jan. of this year. About 2 months ago, the MBP developes a problem. The sympotom is, after powering it on, the Wifi network card sometimes suddently stop working, even cannot be recognized by the system accidently. After the problem arise, I cannot turn on wifi again. The only way to get it back is to restart it. It used to work well with my home network and company network.
I have tried every possible mean to figure out what's wrong with it. Tried SMC reset, PRAM rest. Reinstall a new OS on a new partition (per instruction from Apple support). I hate to say this is a HW issue but support people from Apple did suggest sending it to a service center for a check up.
Before I actually dropping it at service center, I wanna know if someone has experienced that before?
Repeat, it used work well with my router.

    senthil,
It helps to describe your setup parameters.
Which antenna(s) do you have?  Either 2 internal antennas or 1 external antenna.
How far away and what obstructions (walls - wood/concrete) is the wi-fi router?
