Win7 - intermittent mouse stuttering issue

Hello, as per engineer's advice I am opening a separate thread on Win7 mouse stuttering problem here. Same issue as with others: both built-in and wired mouse cursor suddenly stops moving for a few seconds, then it restores its movement. I see no specific
or firm correlation between network activity (wired or wireless, different networks). No correlation also between processor load and the issue, alas. It can happen on a desktop with a single application, let's say IE.
The issue first occured almost immediately after installing fresh Win7 on a new computer. The MS engineer advised to uninstall and reinstall Flash; no change after that.
Computer is Lenovo X201, Intel i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40 Ghz, 4 GB of RAM, Win7 64 bit Enterprise.
Luckilly, the computer is used for business purposes only so no casualties in fierce gaming, but the glitch is nevertheless annoying. Hope for some useful advice. Thanks.

EDIT:
ACTUAL FIX, AND YOU'RE NOT GONNA LIKE IT!
I've found that I only ever experienced mouse lag, when my RAM (memory) usage peaked, resulting in Windows being forced to do disk paging to cope with my lack of RAM.
You can see if this is your problem, by hitting CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to open the Task Manager, and go to the Performance tab (do this just after a fresh reboot!!! See why below.). Leave it open, and try doing a lot of things at once (open a browser with many start-up
tabs while opening some RAM-heavy program, like a programming IDE or a video editing suite). If it peaks, and your mouse subsequently lags, you probably need more RAM for your purposes.
This also explains why people can be posting so many different false "fixes". Whenever the lag occurs, because some operation needs more RAM, the data is cached
in the page file. So when people have experienced lag while using their computer, and then do something to try and fix their problem, and try the same things that made the computer lag before, all those things are already cached, and therefore won't lag anymore...until
you restart your computer, or the pagefile has been filled with new data.
The fix for me, ended up being installing more RAM. If you do not have that option, try to limit the number of programs simultaneously running on your computer. One way
to do this, is by unchecking unneeded start up programs, using these steps:
1. Start ==> Run
2. Type in: msconfig
3. Hit enter the Startup tab
4. Untick all programs THAT YOU KNOW, which you do not need to have available at start up.
Another way, is to remember to close programs when you're done with them.

  • Formating to Win7 VECD and driver issues

I have recently formated my booklet 3g to win7 vecd for enterprise issues.
After reinstalling all the drivers I've found that just the 3G option modem usb driver doesn't installs correctly, the driver listed from the nokia->support webpage.
Eitherway, in the option webpage, with my IMEI i cannot find the method to download the globetrotter connect 3.1 since it is a "secured" file. I have also tried to download the software that my mobile provider gives to me, but it doesn't work neither. Also tried to install the driver from the option webpage for the option 382E embedded device, and still is not recogniced...
I have my sim inside the SIM slot... but in the device administrator from windows 7, its says that there is an "unknown device" under the USB tab.
I don't know what shall I do now in order to find a solution for this.
Thanks in advance for any possible solution

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Up to today, I've tried multiple choices in order to make this work.
Still find in the Device Adminsitrator: "unknown device", under the USB controllers. I expect this to be the 3G/GPS modem, but not sure, since is the only thing not working still on my laptop.
Ive tried using drivers version 5.1.32, 5.1.33 even a driver for 382 made for a laptop Acer Timeline, with no success...
Thing is I have tried also uninstalling the unknown device driver, and rebooting computer, but still comes back the same driver... this done with all the drivers downloaded so far.
Under the drivers folder for the "official nokia-option" set, appears some like:
    GtGps.inf
    gthsmdm.inf
    gthsndis.inf
I've tried to installed them manually but then, the device gets stuck with no response. I'm starting to believe that maybe the usb modem is broken, or doesn't support the windows 7 enterprise edition. But that is pretty strange, since is a 32 bit edition, and all version are based on the same type of software... then starting to believe the first thing.
My booklet is branded with Spanish Movistar provider, and I have a Movistar SIM into the slot, so I should  have no problems of SIM locks or anything like that (even it doesn't even recognice the modem).
This is kind of frustrating since is the only thing left for me to have the booklet working great

  • Mouse panning issues in Flipview

    Hi,
I have a problem in mouse panning issues in WinJS Flipview control.
    Here is my sample:
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=533F417A2E04AEC4!1009
My problem is: I can zoom images in flipview and panning, zooming or scrolling them via finger touch.
So, is there a simple way to enable mouse panning, scrolling?
I think it is useless to zoom if the user cannot drag image by mouse if there is no touch device.
    Thanks so much.
    Nick

I think adding MSGesture is a fine idea. What you're experiencing here is just a difference in the native workings of touch and mouse, so you have to manually compensate for these differences.
Because panning and pinch/zoom in touch mode give you behaviors that are not directly translatable to mouse actions, the mouse does not interpret similar actions unless you ask it do.
Panning with a finger is the most natural thing to expect for touchmode, but it does not directly translate into click and drag, and for that reason, mouse does not pan.  However, you can just add the event so that you get the same behavior.  It's
extra work, but you have to take into account that not all developers want the same behavior.  For example, I expect that someone will say "I don't want to pan when I touch the screen, I want to draw a line, like I can with a mouse.  How do
    I disable this behavior?"
I hope this clears things up for you.

  • Mouse clicking issues

For the last 2 weeks or so I all of a sudden have mouse clicking issues on a 2009 iMac. The mouse (I have tried 3 different ones from apple and Logitech) seem to be able to open files etc. on a click. I have to click repeatedly to get it done. When I run the disc utility it mostly goes away. Now, I run the disc repair every morning to make it go away. Annoying. I have seen other people having similar issues - it sounds like a OS issue????

This same scenario has happened to me sporadically over the past few months and seems to be increasing. I have the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks. Got it 3 years ago for use with my G4 PowerBook (1.5 GHz, 2 GB RAM, OS 10.4.8). First I thought it was the batteries, but then realized that if I'd just wait a few minutes the problem would usually go away. Nothing new electrical on my desk that would cause it. Gets really annoying. The mouse becomes sluggish and the clicks are non responsive (a right click will open a sub-menu window, but then no other clicks work. Trying to move the mouse around on the screen gives spotty results - stops and starts - as if I'm moving it on a reflective surface. After multiple clicks the window goes away. I can disconnect the USB transmitter and have complete control with the mousepad.
Sometimes the problem won't occur all day long. Other times it comes and goes multiple times during an hour. A restart will usually get it out of that overly annoying loop.
I bought a new Logitech Mouse a few days ago, thinking mine was wearing out, but the same thing happened within minutes.
I can only think there's some conflict with an OSX update. VERY frustrating. I don't want to go back to a wired mouse.
So I, too, am eager for a solution.

  • Please fix mouse acceleration issue

Is Apple doing anything to fix the mouse acceleration issue? Do they know and care? I found Windows 7 even XP mouse acceleration to be great. I really wish Apple can fix something so basic.

I have adapted this advice from a post by nycruza
    "VOLUME Control Procedure"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1020767&tstart=1065
    1. Obvious but indeed there are some that forget to remove the plastic covering.
    2. Go into settings and move the volume software sliders all the way to the RIGHT. These can cap the max volume allowed of various sound outputs. If you've capped the max output, then attempt to turn your earpiece up...it won't be too loud.
    3. AFTER you have done step 2 above, use the rocker switch on the left side of the phone and push the upper side of switch. (this is ringer volume)
    4. DURING A CALL, use the rocker switch on the left side of the phone and push the upper side of switch. (this is earpiece volume)
Note that the behavior in #3 and 4 is standard to how many cell phones operate.
IF after doing all 4 above and your earpiece or speaker is still low or muffled you probably have a defective device.

  • Random Magic Mouse stuttering: driving me crazy

My Magic Mouse has been having intermittent problems when used with my 2012/13 MBP. It has been happening for over a year now and is driving me insane.
The symptoms: Sometime I loose and regain connectivity. Sometimes the mouse is stuttering or jittery - you cannot move smoothly or scroll smoothly. Sometimes a reboot fixes it, sometimes not. I have tried a different Magic Mouse (so I do not think it is a problem with this mouse) and have removed all preferences and tried to turn off all other bluetooth devices near my MBP. I bought an external dongle for my MBP. I have tried to cast a spell on the computer. In short I think I have tried just about everything.
I did install my own SSD in the MBP and so it is possible that I messed up the antennae but wouldn't the dongle fix that?
Is there something that I can look at in the log that might tell me something?
Is there some program that will allow me to test bluetooth strength?
Any help would be greatly apprecicatd.

Do you have access to a wired mouse you could test with to try and make sure it is a Bluetooth Problem?
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Photoshop CC 2014: intermittent and unpredictable issues

My teachers and students are using Photoshop CC 2014, a recent upgrade for us from CS6. We are on Mac OSX 10.9.4 on MacBook Air laptops.
There appears to be a very real issue relating to Layers. Images that are dragged from one window to another (rather than copied and pasted) may disappear entirely. Changes in Layer states or from background to a floating layer, may also result in lost images. My initial thought was that this was related to somehow maxing out the video memory, however that does not seem to be the case: Saving and closing, then restarting the program shows the Layers to be empty. Sometimes, however, the image Layer icon still shows the layer to have the image (but no image is appearing on the actual layer.)
Selection tools – some of the selection tools take on a life of their own and create an unpredictable selection. For instance, using the Quick Selection Tool may look relatively accurate but upon release of the mouse will turn into large stair stepped, ziggurat shaped selections that bear almost no resemblance to the original selection.
Both of the above issues seem to be sporadic and unpredictable: one student may experience once, another may experience it five times in a row, while someone else may be totally unaffected.
There are also intermittent issues of Photoshop simply shutting down.
I'm looking at the possible re-imaging and re-installation of several thousand Macs and would greatly appreciate any insights here.

    factor path
Auto correction can be a tricky thing, huh?
When i'm copying factor path and paste on a new layer it creates a vector mask instead of just placing vector shape,
Do you mean a plain Path?
I suppose you could select/create a Path in the Paths Panel or deselect the Layer in the Layers Panel.

**This problem existed before I disabled the 2.4GHz channel and I made the decision to disable it throughout this troubleshooting process.

    Hello the_Tobman,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In order to troubleshoot performace issues with AirPlay between your devices, please follow the steps below.
Resolve performance issues with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your iOS device, Apple TV or AirPort Express.
    Try these suggestions:
Ensure that other devices are not trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router in the same room as your iOS device and Apple TV.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
If the Wi-Fi router has an external antenna, check to see that is it connected properly and in good condition.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.
If you are using iTunes, please see these troubleshooting guidelines.

  • S12 Windows 7 - Mouse scroll issues and tapping won't stop.

I recently purchased an S12 Ideapad for my girlfriend for her studies and installed Win7 in the process. It works perfectly aside from one tiny issue. We can't get it to stop left clicking when tapping the mousepad surface and the vertical scroll area on the rightside of the pad does nothing.
I've tried installing the official Lenovo drivers for Win7 as Administrator / Then with Vista Compatabillity and then finally using the generic Synaptics drivers - but no luck, the options just doesn't appear in the Synaptics configuration menu of the mouse. All I can change are the functions of left click and right click. My old MEDION laptop has all the functions I am looking for in that same menu.
Has anyone else experienced this and/or know of a solution to this annoyance?

  • Bootcamp Keyboard/Mouse Mapping Issues

    Hi Apple Community,
I am using a Macbook Air running Bootcamp for Windows 7.  I am running into a few keyboard/mouse issues that I am hoping to find a solution to with the main one in the title.  Could some please help me to understand how I can perform the following actions in Windows on a MacbookAir when running Bootcamp:
    1.  "Ctrl-Shift-Z" does not work?
    2.  "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" does not work?
    3.  Is there a way to reverse the mouse direction so that it operates like the MAC OS?
    4.  Is there a way to turn down the sensitivity of the Mouse for the "Touch Click" feature?
    Thank you for the help!

I run the same system (MBA with Win7), except that I wiped my mac partition out entirely.
2)Ctrl-Alt-Delete works fine on my machine. I can't imagine  why that wouldn't be working. Have you checked the User Accounts control  panel to see if it's disabled somehow? Does Ctrl-Shift-Esc still bring  up the task manager?
3)Have you tried using the "Mouse" control panel regarding number 3, which lets you reverse the mouse buttons? Assuming that's what you meant by reversing directions.
4)Regarding number 4, I would say that if it's too sensitive, your best bet is to just turn it off in the "Boot Camp" control panel. I don't think there's a way to adjust the sensitivity.
I think I have been of very limited help. I hope some other people jump in on this one.

  • Magic Mouse stutters when 27" Apple Cinema Display connected

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro and 27" Apple LED Cinema Display, and a Mighty Mouse. All purchased 2 weeks ago.
When I work with the 27" display connected, the Mighty Mouse's performance is intolerable. It jerks, stutters and jumps all over the place. it will work fine for a short period time (30 seconds) and then become jerky and stutter all over the place for 5 seconds.
This does not happen when the display is disconnected.
To ensure it wasn't a software issue, I used Boot Camp to run Windows 7. The problem is the same in Windows. Again, when I disconnect the display and use my laptop's screen, the problem goes away.
Some people have suggested that it may be interference from 2.4Ghz wireless networks and recommended to switch to 5Ghz. However, turning my router off did not help.
I tried positioning the mouse less than 2 inches away from the laptop, both in open & closed-lid mode. Again, the problem remains.
The laptop's trackpad always works fine, as does a wired Mighty Mouse.
    So, in summary:

  • AE and Computer- Audio dropping out and stuttering issues

    Hi all,
I recently bought an Airport Express 2 weeks ago. I hooked the unit up in my bedroom via ethernet(roaming) method.  I use Airplay and turn on Computer and Airport Express to play both in my living room and my bedroom at the same time. Problem is I'm noticing my iTunes in my living room exhibits some stuttering during songs or the audio will start to drop out intermittently and sometimes shuts off completely but the Airport Express is still playing in my bedroom without issue. I've tried turing off the wireless but it doesn't do anything. When I turn off AE in Airplay and just play using the Computer it works fine. I'm not sure what can be causing the interference but it seems its between my computer and AE when they are both turned on.  I would appreciate any suggestions forum members have to help me resolve this issue. I have the 2nd generation AE.  Thanks a lot.

  • Trackpad & Mouse connection issue

Lately my trackpad (and my wife's mouse) become erratic and unresponsive. If i turn the pad off and then back on, that helps. it happens intermittently but i am wondering if this is a bluetooth issue. This happens at our work, but not at home and i have the same iMac (yosemite) set up and an apple keyboard and trackpad. (and it's not the batteries)
    iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

If the problem is only at one location, I would think that there is some sort of interference (cordless phones, etc).

  • FPS / Stuttering Issues (Overheat , Speedstep Issues ? ) MSI GE60 2PE APACHE PRO

    **EDIT**
Unable to post direct image links , please ad HTTP:// before links
Good evening Fellow Gamers and Adepts.
I come to you tonight with a serious doubt , which has rattled me for a while , and after some intense troubleshooting i have came up blank.
    Here's the deal , as stated , i have a MSI GE60 2PE apache Pro
Now , playing cs go has been the bane of my existence, i am aware there are heating issues with this laptop , but those have been fixed by a Thermal repaste, a cooling pad and the backplate removed.
Now i have no more throttling of CPU , and GPU appears to handle fine aswell; the thing is i keep having MASSIVE lag spikes in CS:GO , and apparently they are being cause by CPU issues.
    Image for clarification .
(Standart situation , notice the relative low fps for a old game)
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80
After a few seconds the following occurs
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80,27y1P5C,aq30R4r#1
Notice the fps drop and the CPU frequency percent alert in game
another shot of this in console so you can see the several occurrences
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80,27y1P5C,aq30R4r#2
now keep in mind that these are the lowest game settings, in Fullscreen windowed mode , if i even CONSIDER putting it on standart fullscreen i get unplayable jitterness and fps that range from 10 to 80 , all in a second.
Now , as i have stated i have fooled around and disabled speedstep in the bios , meaning that the cpu is always at 100%, seeing i have removed the backplate , throttling is not an issue as IXT (Intel extreme tuning) can attest.
note aswell the "active core count" spikes to 4/3 in the exact moments of the stutters, meaning that both problems should , in theory , be connected .

can ANYONE give me an ideia of whats going on ? i rather enjoy playing with games with friends , but this is driving me up the wall..
Lastest NVIDIA / Laptop drivers installed ; Bios Updated and EC firmware aswell.
Thank you for your time guys x)
