Win7 reinstall and G570 networking drivers

Hi all,
I have a Lenovo G570 machine running 64-bit Windows 7 (Home Premium).  The machine got into a state where it couldn't boot properly (I'd get the splash screen and then the screen would go dark, other than I could see and move the mouse).  So I reinstalled Windows 7 from the original disc, selecting the Custom option (after trying multiple system restore points etc...).
After the reinstall, I find that Windows doesn't recognize a number of drivers, and I have no network connectivity. see screen shot below from Device Manager.  I went to the Lenovo site and downloaded what I thought were the correct drivers for both LAN and wireless, but when I tried to update them (transferring to the machine via USB key), Windows tells me those aren't the correct drivers.  I'm now at a bit of a loss as to how to troubleshoot.  And yes, my cable modem and wireless router are fine, all other devices in the house can access the Internet.  I'm hoping if I can get the networking drivers installed properly, maybe Windows can do the others automagically so I don't have to hunt for them. For the LAN driver, the one that hasn't worked is Atheros LAN Driver (AR8151L-Giga)(AR8152L-10/100) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo G470 and G570.  For wireless, the one that hasn't worked is Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo G470 and G570.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help...

Hi,
Is the chipset driver installed? From the image, it looks like chipset is not installed ( SM Bus Controller ). Install the drivers in the same order listed elow. Restart laptop whenever it prompts for restart. Do let me know if it solved the issue. Giving all the links, just in case if the same files are not already downloaded.

  • Download Zen Boot CD's and Compiling Network Drivers

Sorry for the last sevral posts. I have never been sent off on Linux
training to this is all relatively new to me.
Question 1) Are there a few websites that allow you to download Zen Boot
Cd's? Also, I would like to get my hands on a Zenworks 6.5 SP2 Zen Boot
    CD?
Question 2)we are using Zenworks 4.01 ir7 (2.4.31 kernel) and just got a
shipment of Dell Optiplex 745 computers in that use the Broadcom network
driver for the 5754 chipset. I went to Novell and got the Zenworks
4.01ir7 imaging source code (compiling the driver), got the newest
Broadcom Network driver for the 5754 chipset and it was tested with the
2.4.31 kernel and it works, I also have VMWAre Workstation and also
downloaded the Suse Enterprise Server 9 Virtual Machine Workstation from
    Novell as well.
Is this everything I will need in order to compile the new Broadcom 57xx
network driver for the 5754 chipset or will I need other utilties etc..?
Question 3) Is there good documentation on how to compile a network driver
or any other driver using the 2.4.31 kernel or any other kernel (i.e.
    2.6.xx_ for that matter?
Question 4) Once the driver is compiled what do I do next? Is there
something I have to import into my existing Zenworks 4.01 ir7 boot cd?
Thanks! Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying my best to learn some
about linux and would appreciate some guidance!

  • Connect Win7 host and XP mode to two separate networks?

I would like to connect XP mode to a network that is different from the one the Win7 host is connected to.
The set up would look like this:
Win 7 host is connected via wired Ethernet to inside network (i.e. 192.168.1.0/24)
XP Mode would connect via wireless or another wired NIC to external network (i.e. 24.226.0.0/16)
The only path those two could talk to each other is via router/firewall connecting the two networks
All information I could find only  talk about how to connect XP Mode to the same network as the host. I want them to connect to separate networks.
In order to separate the host and the VPC I have to unbind all protocols on the host from the second NIC except Virtual PC network filter driver. When I do that, the VPC emulated NIC connects, but will not get the DHCP address. If I set the static IP
on the VPC emulated NIC, it will not reach the default gateway.
The only way to make it work is to bind TCP on the host to the second NIC. If the host can see the other network, VPC can connect to it also. But that defeats what I am trying to do which is to separate the VPC and the host at the IP layer.
I also tried to use USB NIC and attach it "directly" to the VPC thinking that if I installed the drivers for that USB NIC within VPC and it could talk to the NIC directly, it could work. Unfortunately there is no "bridge mode" for
USB ports so this did not work.
Did I reach the limits of network connectivity for XP Mode?

You're on the right track.  Using bridge mode and only allowing the VPC driver on the 2nd NIC should work...at least it used to work and it was the way to do what you want to do.
I haven't done this in a while, but it seems that something may have changed on VPC's network drivers.
Do you have any firewalling or similar on the host that may be interfering with the NIC?

I have Win7 64 bit and when I tried to install the latest I-Tunes update it failed and told me to reinstall. I attempted the reinstall and got the same result. I have attempted this several times already even after following the recommendations from Apple website to correct this problem. I have installed numerous updates for I-Tunes and this is the first one to fail.  Is there a fix in the works from Apple for this? I believe the update is flawed and should be re-evaluated by Apple and this update re-issued with different version #.

  • A better way? Need to reinstall printer on network after shutting down computers.

    HELP!
I have a HP 3310 All in one.  It is oh, 4 years old or so and this has bugged me the whole time.
Basically, whenever I power down any/all of the computers on my network I lose the printer when I power back up.
My first fix was to just leave everything powered up all the time, worked great until the power went out.  I talked to someone in tech support and they had me uninstall and reinstall everything.  I got it up and running but I definately do not want to do that everytime I want to print something!
My second fix was to hook up directly to computer with USB cable, this was my last solution, I could only print off the computer wired to the printer though.  One of the reasons I bought this printer was I wanted to be able to do so across the network, wirelessly or not.
My network now includes 3 computers and a network backup drive, a laptop (when I use it, is wireless connection) and this printer.  I have a Dlink DGL-4300 router tying everything to my cable modem.
My current bout of frustration stems from recently upgrading 2 computers with some new hardware and new OS, I moved to Win7 on the 2 new rigs, and have Vista on my other desktop, the laptop runs XP but is not used very often.  It does login to my network flawlessly each time I turn it on though.
I am looking for an "easy button" here.  Setting up networks is something I can do, right up until I hit my first problem that a wizard cannot fix.  (which seems to be any problem that pops up)
My printer shows that it is connected to my home network with excellant signal strength ( it is only about 6 feet from the router)  my desktops are all connected and can see each other, I can share files off the vista computer with one of the win7 computers but not the other ( a different problem for another web forum).
My printer does not show up in my network neighborhood window and no number of reboots of printers or computers seems to get things reset so that any of the computers will "see" the printer.  Not sure if this is router related or not.  I simply want the printer to reappear in my network when things are turned back on.  The win7 computers said they had successfully installed the printer after I downloaded the latest software from here for win6 64 bit.  I did not in fact print anything at the time because they said the printer was found and installed correctly, now the printer cannot be located any longer.  HP solution center claims the printer is disconnected, but does nothing to assist in re-establishing a connection.  The wizards cannot locate the printer, manually trying to direct the computers to the printer fail.  I have set up a PW protected wireless network to try to limit prying eyes and leaches from accessing my network and I wonder if somehow this is messing me up.
    I am lost, completely!
    In summery:
    Dlink DGL-4300 router
    Two computers running Win7
    One computer running Vista
    One laptop running XP
    One HP3310 All-in-one printer
When setting up the win7 systems all defaults were selected, I tried to do nothing funny from stock install.  Somehow, I still ended up with one computer not being able to access files on Vista computer.  None of the computers can see the printer though. (this after powering down all computers and turning them back on when needed, router has not been cycled on and off)
Thanks, hopefully someone can explain this to me.  I just do not want to have to reinstall the printer after every time I turn a computer off and back on again.

On many older HP printers the software keeps track of the printer by IP address.  If that IP address changes (due to power outage, the printer re-logging on to the router after being moved, etc), the software can have a difficult time finding the printer.
How comfortable are you in configuring your router?  First, print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer.  We can go from there.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
    I am employed by HP

  • Windows 7 Network Drivers No Longer Works

Bought a MBP a week ago, just installed Windows 7 on its own partition, installed bootcamp, everything worked fine for the first day. The next day, it did not recognize my network drivers (wireless, ethernet). Control Panel states that they are not installed correctly with an exclamation mark. I've tried installing the drivers from Windows, it 'could no find file'. I've tried reinstalling the drivers using MBP BC CD, after its finished, it reboots, and windows tries to install the remaining drivers. A windows popup keeps stating that 'driver was not installed correctly' and the BC CD does not resolve the issue. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and then manually installing as well as rebooting and allowing windows to reinstall the drivers. Nothing has worked.
So that leaves me with this conclusion, the drivers are now missing from the Windows partition as they can not be found and the drivers on the MBP BC CD will not install successfully for some strange reason. It kind of makes it hard to do anything at this point.
Before this happened, I did encounter a BSOD, but did not give me much information on why (there was a hex error code though). It's a bit frustrating not being able to install the drivers from disk, even manually. Not sure why it won't install successfully, shouldn't be a hardware issue since it works fine on OS X 10.6.
Any thoughts, help or opinions would be much appreciated.

Here are things I tried....which I accumulated from multiple forums....and, unfortunately none worked for me, but might work for you:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11518129#11518129
What did work for me: deleting the driver. reinstalling it. rebooting my router about 5-7 times, and they finally connected.
    probably just dumb luck.

  • Problems with Installing iTunes and wireless network connection

Every time I attempt to install iTunes it completely kicks the internet off and an error comes up that the wireless network adapter to not connect or is not detected. My internet service is connected to a router which I receive wirelessly to my laptop. I do not understand why it is happening and to get the internet to work again I needed to do a system restore. Any ideas why this is happening. Also when iTunes was installed it came up correctly, it would just not connect to the net. I have had a previous version on my old laptop but since purchasing this new laptop I am having such difficulty. On another note, if this problem can be resolved, once iTunes is working is there a way to get the songs from my old computer onto the new? Thanks for the help in advance!

I just saw your post and I resolved this on mine for my wired connection. I'm willing to bet that the issue is the same for wireless. Here's what I found.
    Issue:
During the installation, iTunes installs some network components related to mobile device support over ethernet(Apple Mobile Device Ethernet Service - netaapl.inf). At the same time, according the logs, the install process removed OEM18.inf. This almost exactly coincided with the time that I saw the network connection die (preceded it by a few seconds).
Basically, iTunes appears to be removing a required network component.
    Resolution:
After installing iTunes and the network connection breaking, remove the network device from Device Manager and allow Windows to reinstall it automatically.
The following instructions are for Windows 7, but they are close enough to follow for other versions of Windows.
    1. Click the Start button (Jewel in Vista and Win7).
    2. Right-click Computer and click Manage in the menu that appears (type your password or click Yes if prompted).
    3. On the left side of hte Computer Management window, click Device Manager.
    4. Click the arrow (or plus sign) next to Network Adapters to expand that section.
    5. Right-click your network adapter and click Uninstall in the menu that appears.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Reboot.
Windows should automatically detect and reinstall your network device on boot.

I did give all relevant information as the issue is with the integrated network interface.
Device manager shows nothing, drivers won't re-install because it can't see the device. Drivers are from CD. I can get (very) limited access to the internet with a wireless card but it's intermittently at best.
    Read the post.
What CPU? What power supply? What memory?
Without proper information we are going to spend many posts trying to figure out what the problem is. Instead of arguing it, just provide the information from the >>Posting Guide<< and we can more easily and better diagnose the problem.
