Windows 8 Unexpected Shutdown due to error
Hello,
I have had my computer (HP Envy dv6) for almost half a year now. A few weeks ago I ran into a problem that ended with me having to get the hardrive re-imaged. After my computer came back from the repair center, everything was running fine until
a few weeks ago it started shutting down because of an error. I didn't get a blue screen or anything like that, but what would happen most commonly was I'd try to wake my computer from sleep, and the screen would remain black and the computer would remain
unresponsive. I would try pushing the power button to see if that would wake it, but nothing would happen. Usually, I would hard shut it down by pushing the power button until the computer tuned off after which I would turn it back on again and
it would give me the error message. This happened a few times, then stopped for a few weeks, and just now happened again. I have noticed that usually when there are updates and I don't turn off my computer to update it, that's when the problem
occurs ( at least this most recent time) and I don't know if I should be concerned and this may be a larger problem than I thought, or if it is just a minor thing.
Here are some file names that were mentioned in the error report:
c\ windows\minidump\021514-38609-01.dmp
c\users\hp\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-149562-0.sysdata.xml

Hi,
According to your description, it seems like driver problem, especially Graphic driver, you can try to reinstall and upgrade Graphic driver to be latest to test this problem.
PS:My notebook have a same problem with yours, I found the reason was because no Graphic driver compatible with Windows 8.
In addition, you can upload 021514-38609-01.dmp file to your SkyDrive and share with us, We can help you analyze what's reanson caused this crash events.

if the bug exists in Apple’s code, then there’s nothing that can be done about it but to wait for an update from Apple. Given the loaded kernel extensions shown in the crash report, the only things which you could affect are VirtualBox and FUSE for OS X. Since you have the latest version of VirtualBox installed, and I haven’t seen similar GPU panics reported involving that version of VirtualBox, that led me to suggest experimenting with FUSE for OS X first. Since it’s a GPU panic, you could try disabling VirtualBox if you think that it’s more likely to be the cause than FUSE for OS X. -

C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

Mac rebooting into OSX instead of windows after unexpected shutdown
Got a bit of a strange issue here.
I've set a mac mini that is running windows server software to always boot into the windows partition through "startup disk" in sys prefs. It does this just fine when properly shut down or restarted, but always boots back into OSX if the power down is unexpected. Of course, one might say, well hold down the "option" key when it restarts and choose where you want to boot to, but this machine will often be left unattended, and it NEEDS to go right back into Windows if that happens.
Your thoughts? You are right, S3 mode for sleep seems to have changed with Windows 7 SP1
SSD seems to be linked to having problem for some
Some go back to pre-SP1
It would probably take a while to find a fix, after someone knows what and how it happened and can be tested.
The likelihood of BIOS update on PC is real, happening on a Mac with EFI and / or SMC firmwware updates highly unlikely.
It is annoying. I thought it was a bad cable or wire, swapped out my PSU for a larger one I had sitting around. Moved Windows off SSD RAID to mechanical drive. I was beginning to think my motherboard was at fault, because two other systems, a Mac Pro running 7 SP1 and PC, both using single SSD for OS, do not exhabit any problem with sleep modes, even if I let it go longer.
Disable or uninstall. -
Why Windows 7 unexpected shutdown will recover itself after some time
Few week ago I had a problem which my customer's pc unable to power on and both hardisk which equipped with Windows 7 Professional unable to boot up. It was prompt me to select Windows mode (safe mode, safe mode with networking, last known configuration,
Start normally and etc). After choose last known configuration, shows Windows 7 animation about 2 seconds and restart itself repeadetly (this happen on both hardrive). After that I have no choice use Symantec Ghost restore secondary hardisk because primary
contained some important information. Few days ago, I went down to same place and try to boot primary hardisk and found that it has recovered itself. Wondering why this happen? Can someone please advice and suggest some better alternative way which quicker
than reimage the hardrive. Thanks

Image creation with MDT task sequence- "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown"
I'm using MDT 2012 U1 to build and capture a Windows 7 x86 image for deployment with ConfigMgr 2012 SP1. I'm using the standard client task sequence in MDT.
The MDT task sequence consistently fails after the reboot in the "Postinstall" group. The install OS, Copy Scripts, Configure, Inject Drivers, Next Phase, and Restart Computer tasks all execute successfully, then the MDT-initiated reboot
completes successfully. There is nothing else helpful in the SMSTS.LOG, these are the last entries in the log:
Successfully complete the action (Restart Computer) with the exit win32 code 0
Sending status message
Executing in non SMS standalone mode. Ignoring send a task execution status message request
Set a global environment variable _SMSTSLastActionRetCode=0
Set a global environment variable _SMSTSLastActionSucceeded=true
Expand a string %_SMSTSMDataPath%\Logs
Deleting file without retrying
The error message on the reference computer says, "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" along with "An existing in-progress deployment was found but is not in an expected state. Would you like to ignore this in-progress
deployment and start a new one?"
I have found one post that suggested modifying customsettings.ini with HideShell=Yes, which I tried. It didn't help.
I am not sure why MDT thinks the reboot was unexpected? Has anybody run into this? What steps can I take to narrow down the problem?
Any help/suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
FPThanks for your reply Phil.
Setuperr.log is empty, zero bytes. Setupact.log looks good to me, it has these entries at the end:
OrchestrateUpdateImageState: Updating image state from [IMAGE_STATE_UNDEPLOYABLE] --> [Image_State_Complete]
OOBELdr.exe exiting with code [0x0]...
Process exited with exit code [0x0]
c:\windows\panther\SetupInfo succeeded.
c:\windows\panther\setupinfo.
Windeploy.exe exiting with code [0x0]
SetupSQM Started
Panther path is C:\windows\Panther
SQM not opted in
SetupSQM is finished
Our image environment was created during an MCS Engagement, so we have the solution pack and there are many variables in customsettings.ini. I will need to find out how to narrow this down but I'm not finding a log file that tells me where it's choking...
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
FP -
Windows often undergoes unexpected shutdown during work!!
I was using windows xp for 2 years with just 1GB RAM and i upgraded it to windows 7. Since then i am not able to work consistently since my windows is shutting down half way at random. Then i upgraded my RAM to one more GigaBytes. Still my problem
exist. ALso i am not sure whether it is because of absence of ups since the time i upgraded. I also tried for so many solutions yet nothing worked with my pc..Hi!
Unexpected shutdowns can be linked many different things, are you doing something specific at the time, for example using applications that require a lot of CPU or RAM?
In most cases it's linked to the CPU becoming to hot or a faulty RAM module.
Open up the event viewer and browse to "System"
Are there any errors at the time of the computer rebooting?
Best regards

Windows 8.1 installation failed due to error code 0x80240031
I tried to update my OS to windows 8.1 single language from windows 8 pc. But my installations was unsuccesful due to error code 0x80240031 . What is the problem and what is it's solution
Hi,
How did you upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1? Through Windows Store? To resolve this problem. Firstly, please check and install all Windows update, and upgrade hardware driver to be latest. After that, please try to create a new user account and upgrade
system again.
If problem persists, please access to the path below to check Windows installation log:
setupact.log and setuperr.log in c:\windows.~BT\Sources\Panther. If this folder not exit, please check setupact log in C:\Windows\Panther. You may find the reason for this problem. You also can provide these log to us, we can help you analyze these log together.

Session "EventLog-Microsoft-Windows-MBAM-Diagnostic" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188
My box is
Windows 8.1 64
I can provide more information if you need it.

Keep involved!did recently you facing issue with autoshutdown or any power related and PC still attached to any 3rd party USB device?
This issue addresses as normal behavior and don't affected your Windows

The logging of this error will not affect the operation of your computer. ReadyBoot is used by the ReadyBoost service that optimizes the boot time of your computer to a minimum
this ready boost service normally start when you attached 3rd party removable drive or device, you can disable it if you want. This option will not applicable if you installed SSD

Re: Windows Server 2008 R2 guest unexpected shutdown
Hi,
I originally attempted to hijack an old abandoned forum thread to ask my question. I wasn't contributing to the original poster's issue but have a concern of my own.
That thread from 2011 was:
Windows Server 2008 R2 guest unexpected shutdown
and my post has been split away from the hijacked thread to let it stand on its own.
My question is ...
Any update on this? I'm having this issue using the Intel Driver. I was told by Oracle support to use the PV Drivers and once I install the drivers, the window server does a Blue Screen. Please Help.
Thank you

do you have any other suggestions, is this normal, is this a bug, have others complained about this?I'm not an expert on Windows guests, as I don't run any myself. It's not normal, but others have not complained about it and we do not have any open bugs. However, I don't know how to troubleshoot crashing Windows guests like you can with crashing Linux guests. Your best bet is to open an SR with Oracle Support, and perhaps also Microsoft support, so you can track down why the guest is crashing. -

Shutdown due to a problem on every reboot
Hi,
I'm on OSX 10.10 on a 13" MacBook Pro retina and since some days I get a note on every bootup claiming the computer shutdown due to a problem and if I want to open windows. But I just shutdown the computer by "Menu -> Shutdown".
Why is this happening?
Is this some hint to a hardware failure?
How can I get rid of this state?
Thanks!4/11/14 22:27:47,341 sharingd[361]: 22:27:47.341 : SIGTERM received, shutting down.

I found more information thanks to the #apple on freenode.
Also I rebooted into recovery and verified + repaired the disk. This didn't return any errors.
Afterwards I reset the pram but this didn't help either.

Do you think the database was not shutdown properly at that time? If backup of datafile was carried on with database still open, it may cause the errors as shwon on oracle alert log file, but I am not sure.
