Windows external authentification in grid control
I am currently facing this error when i try to connect to a windows database for "performance information tab" through a grid control installed on a linux platform :
"Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"
The sqlnet.ora on the windows platform has the following content :
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
The listener.ora on the windows platform has the following extra content to be able to log errors :
LOGGING_LISTENER = ON
TRACE_LEVEL_LISTENER = ADMIN
I tried to use many accounts that are in the "ora_dba" group but i get the previous error.
Below an extract of the listener.trc file generated when i try to connect :

On your WIindows NT server your AGENT is going to be on, you are required to specify the HOSTNAME.
The listener.ora configuration file uses a fully qualified hostname. Open a command prompt and issue a ping to display the fully qualified DNS host.
You want that to be the HOST= value in the listener.ora and the HOSTNAME of your AGENT.
When you install the AGENT you will be prompted for the OMS hostname and port (like a TNS string) for your Linux 64bit Management Server box.

Linux Grid control and windows agents
Hi all,
I have a Linux based GC and want to communicate with agents on a windows server. Does this combination use SSH? how do you go about installing agents remotely in this configuration. Any help would be apreciated.

alanIt's possible to install agents remotely on Windows. See this metalink note:

Can we install 32-bit Windows Grid Control on 64-bit 2008 Windows server ?
Dear Guru's,
We wish to install GRID for one of our 11.1.0.6 production database which is on 64-bit Windows 2008 (Enterprise Edt) server.
As per http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/index.html , Only Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control Release 1 (11.1.0.1.0)available which is on 32- Bit.
Now my concerns are :-
1. Can we install Windows 32-bit 11g Grid Control Release 1 (11.1.0.1.0) on 64-bit Windows 2008 server ??
2. This is 4GB database ( with less workload) , but since this is the special requirement from the client where he wants to have alert information for this database.
Is there any alternate option than GRID which can fullfil the requirement of sending alerts ???
Note :- This database is the only database at our site which is on diffrent network where we can't even use internet.( For sending alerts )
Thanks in advanceAre you planning on installing GC on the same host machine? Eh, not sure that's a great idea, at least for the OMSNo we are planning to install Grid control on dr server
What did you read from the Installation guides - found via Documentation tab from the link you posted?I didn't understand your question ; My database is on 11.1.0.6 and hence i think i should go for 11gR1 Grid control. Please correct me if i am worng
What "alerts" are you referring to? What's the "sending" requirements? We want basic alerts like diskspace full ,CPU Usage, Tablespace full , Alert log error etc..
Is there any other tool / utility that i can use for the same ? -
GRID Control and management hostname
With a HA deployment you have to set :
emd.properties:#AgentListenOnAllNICs=FALSE
This is ok for me but the servers have 3 differents IP adresses (3 differents hostname), one is foucuss for management tasks and this is not the name registered by the Agent.
Do you know if it is possible to run host scripts (external jobs) with Grid Control and to specify the hostname where these jobs have to run by default the jobs will run on the hostname registered by the Agent.Hello,
There is currently no support for CEP in Grid Control.

Install 10.2 Grid Control on Windows 2003 Server - Always erorr on Agent
I have a Windows 2003 Server in a Domain and have tried to install several times OEM Grid Control 10g (B30800-01), but every time the last step (Agent Configuration Assistant) prints "Failed" on the OUI-Screen. I checked the log on the directory "cfgtoollogs\cfgfw", but for a beginner it is a little bit difficult to find the key for the error. Somoebody has a minute left to look at it, please? (It's only the last part of the file CfmLogger). Everything else worked fine for the Installation.
Thank's a lot.

How to install oracle10g grid control on windows
i want,
how to install oracle10g R3 grid control on windows
in my server ,i have 4 database ..oracle10g R2 ..is running...http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/nav/portal_booklist.htm

Hi all,
I very new on Grid Control because actual I only have one database to administrate so the Enterprise Manger is very fine.
But in the future this will be expanded to 4 or 5 databases on different machines so I think the Grid Control will "help" me... Or I'm wrong?
Now the thing is, that my company is using Windows 2003 R2 64bit as OS and the Databases will be 10.2.0.4 64bit.
So now I'm on the Oracle Grid Control page and see, that Grid Control is not available for Windows in 64bit.
So I think now, that I have to have an additional Windows 32bit Server for running Grid Control and the Agent’s as 64bit for Windows for the Databases.
Or does someone have a different idea??
Thanks for your help.
Br
JoergHi,
thanks for your post.
I have checked it on MetaLink and as you can see on the screenshot Windows x64 is not certified.
So I think I have to run an additional Windows 2003 32bit.
How ever... thanks.

Installing 10g and Grid control together on Windows Server 2003
Hi all,
I've been having some trouble installing both the Grid Control and Oracle 10g together on a Windows Server 2003 box.
Here's the steps I've followed (if im stepping away from the norm, please tell me.. i REALLY need to do this properly without any hacks.. right now im on a test box.. but soon enough I have to do it in a live production environment and I really need a clean install).
I had a copy of Oracle 9i installed - my databases are pretty small.. 1.5Gb at most and I have been advised to just do an export and import them back in later.. which is fine by me..
I uninstalled Oracle 9i, making sure to check all the environment variables were clear and the registry settings were gone.
I ran the grid control setup
Set Home name = Ora10gGC
Set home path = C:\Oracle\Ora10gGC
I selected Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using a New database 10.1.3.0
I set my passwords, and then set the global database name as emrep (the default)
All the optional configuration assistants ran successfull
Once this was all done and the install was finished, I restarted the server
Then I inserted the Oracle 10g cd
I ran 10g setup
Click Advanced installation
Set home name = Ora10g
Set home path = C:\Oracle\Ora10g
I selected Enterprise edition
Selected General purpose database
I got the following message:
The ORACLE_HOME environment variable is current set. This will prevent proper use of Multiple Oracle Homes and since it is not required for any Oracle products to function, it will be unset in your environment.
I set the global database name on my starter database to STARTER, I selected Use Grid Control for Database Management and set my paths and passwords, then I clicked install.
The install worked up till it tried to create the starter database, then it failed with an ORA-12560 error.
I checked the environment variables and it seems that ORACLE_HOME wasn't unset after all. I deleted it from my environment variables and restarted the server, but I still get the ORA-12560 error when i try to create a new database.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to install these 2 products together properly.. Thanks!I suggest you to read Metalink Note:344537.1 "Installing EM 10g Grid Control Fails to Start the TNSListener Due to Environment Settings"
Additionaly could you post the fragment from alert.log and listener.log files, so more diagnostic information can be provided on this issue.

Trying to install OEM 10g Grid Control agent on Windows Server 2008 x64
Received the following when trying to install OEM 10.2.0.2 for Windows 32 bit. I believe Windows 64 bit version does not exist. I have installed this on 2003 x64 in the past.
Error message:

Is there a workaround or a version that will install on 2008 x64?
Thanks. This will give you the complete picture of Grid Certification.
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Certification Checker

Is there a workaround or a version that will install on 2008 x64?Well, no OMS has been certified with this version as of now. You can have 10.2.0.3/4 OMS on 2008(32 Bit)

Hi
Does any one have any idea when the 11g Grid is available for Windows environment? Can this be available for 64 bit windows OS platform also. We have 11gR2 Oracle Grid infrastructure RAC running on our dev farm. I did applied patches to Grid Control 10.2.0.5.0 to support DB 11.2.0.1.0 targets using metalink doc id
[ID 953846.1]. Scan listeners are not showing as targets with 10.2.0.5 grid. Even local listener is not coming while discovering. At cluster managed service page if I create an application service it adds servers physical address to tnsnames.ora file instead of vips or scan ips.
If anyone resolve this kind of issues it will be helpfull.
Thanks
RaoHi
Have you tried:

SEVERE: Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occured. Please provide the following files to Oracle Support : I think this is somewhat to complex for forum users to analyze.

Hi Experts,
We're trying to download and install Oracle grid control for windows 64bit but we can't find any 64bit release!
Can we safely download and install Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control Release (11.1.0.1.0) - Windows 32bit from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/index.html ? or should we be installing a different version??
Should Grid control be installed on the DB server in the 1st place or should it be installed on another server?
Current Oracle Software: 11.2.0.1 64bit.
Server OS: Windows 2008 Server 64bit.
Can you kindly let us know.
ThanksWe finally got our facts right..
The Grid Control Enterprise Manager comes only in 32 bits.. However the Grid Control agent that needs to be installed on the DB server comes in 32/64bits and is supported under different OS platforms.
Metalink (Doc ID 412431.1) shows the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Certification Checker/matrix that we found extremely useful.
Enterprise Manager Grid Control comes with the basic features and is free to use. Any extra features are considered addons and do need to be properly licensed.

Install of OEM 10g Grid controll on windows break my listener
Hi!
I install OEM 10g Grid controll to Windows 2000 server, successfully (a new database to the repository also was created by the installer).
When I restart our server the service of the Listener did not started (it was set to automatic) and I did not able to start it.
First I see the "Listener.log" and the trace file.
The problem was that the listener intended to load adapter protokoll and refer to the "orantcp9.dll"!
Because before the install I create a 10.1.0.2 database the path of the file point to the "Db_1\bin" and here is "orantcp10.dll" exists.
The "orantcp9.dll" is exists in "em_1\bin".
What and how can I fix?
An additional question : during my secont installation I select to create the repository into an existing database, but the installer refuse it because my DB version was 10.1.0.2 and not 10.1.0.3.
How can I create DB with 10.1.0.3 version on Windows?
I am in a deadlock :-)

The issue was that the EM Grid Control created an ORACLE_HOME environment variable. All you have to do is delete the variable, move the Database Oracle Home entries in the path to the front, and reboot the server. -
