Windows File Migration (Send-SmigServerData / Receive-SmigServerData)

Hi There,
I have problems to migrate a directory (including subfolders and files) from a Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 to a
Windows Server 2008R2 Service Pack 1. The error message is:
Send-SmigServerData : Starting the connected transport failed.
The cmdlet cannot connect to the destination server. For more information, see "Data Migration Connectivity" in the Tro

Those servers are in the same subnet. Also the connectivity is
guaranteed, i've tested this by pinging each other. At both servers i'm administrator and i run at the same time
the shell commands as administrator:
Receive-SmigServerData --> Source-Server
Send-SmigServerData
-include Data -ComputerName "Server2" -SourcePath "C:\Temp\Download\"
-DestinationPath "C:\FTPData\Download" -Verbose -->Destination Server
So my question is, what parameter, setting, option etc I or need?

Hello all
I had to do a migration from windows 2003 to Windows 2012. I had set up a testlab to test it first and run in some problems
When I executed the command, nothing happens
It just stops.
I checked to udp ports, firewalls and connectivity. I disabled the IPv6 on the Windows 2012 server and still nothing. Then I did the following:
1. install on the Windows 2003 the WMI modules and start them in the services. I read that somewhere :)
2. The source folder must be shared. I my case it wasn't. I shared the source folder with everyone permission and the migration works :)
Well..I had run for just one time. When I tried it again, it hangs again.
Then I figured out that restarting the "windows management Instrumentation" services on the source Windows 2003 server helps to start the migration again.
I tried it again and again and it works.

Hi ,
In my sender FTP server multiple files gets created at a same time i want to send this same files to the target FTP server am not doing any file content conversion. Just pick this multiple files at a single poll and drop it in the target FTP system.
I gave . in the as file name parameter in the sender file adapter..PI system picks all the files as separate message but if i give . in the receiver adapter itu2019s not creating the file and its giving Java exception..
Is there any other method to do this without having File content conversion... ?

For receiver adapter you have to give some file name, '.' will not work for receiver adapter. So give any temporary name just to satisfy the mandatory field. And when you selet the ASMA settings in both SENDER & RECEIVER adapter then your Receiver File adapter will write the same file name which it has picked up and NOT the one which you have written in your receiver adapter.
Note: Set ASMA setting in both else you will not get the same file name at receiver. You can see the same in blog given by Siva. You need not to create any UDF since you are not using any mapping. Just use the ASMA settings.. that's it.

Read Xml file for Sender and Receiver Info

Is it possible to customize B2B to read Sender/Receiver/Document Information from the xml file which is supposed to be transmitted?
I do NOT the option to specify this information in channel configuration under file name since file name will not have this information.
But I am fine with writing any plug to set this information somewhere to achieve the same.

For outbound transactions, file name is the only option available currently if you are using Generic File internal listening channel. You may use any other transport like JMS/AQ/Fabric and partner and document information can be set in headers.
Can you let us know the complete use case?

Cannot send nor receive email on new iMac; migrated settings from MacBook

I just recently bought a new aluminum iMac. I migrated files & settings, including Mail settings from my MacBook to the iMac. Despite the copied settings, I cannot send nor receive messages on the new iMac. I have always been able to send & receive e-mail on my MacBook, so I would think the same settings should work on the iMac.
I have tried Connection Doctor, and I am getting successful connections on both the POP Account and SMTP server.
I have compared settings between the MacBook & iMac, and they are the same. My MacBook uses Tiger and doesn't have the option of default & custom ports. It is set to port 25. I have tried custom ports of 25 & 587 on the new iMac as well as the default port option. None of those seem to work.
Is there something else that could be wrong or anything else I can try? Thanks ahead of time for any assistance.

That really sounds like anti virus scanning to me. Try rebooting your machine into safe mode with networking and see if it works correctly then.

While transferring Adobe from laptop to PC the licensing files got corrupt and the right way to use Adobe Applications is to install first as transferring from a different machine can give you problems.
You can try steps from this article if that helps otherwise you have to reinstall and manually delete some files , everything is mentioned.

Cannot send or receive video messages on Windows X...

Hello,
Can anyone please help with this issue. I cannot send or receive any video messages from my desktop. I have Windows XP ; and I do not use the Internet Explorer.
I have looked through the Community Blog and deleted some files from the Skype folder. However installing the latest version of skype and restarting computer hasnt helped. In fact, the video message option doesnt even light up. That is: I can't select that option at all.
Is it some glitch? What can I do to rectify this.
I can see the link to the video if someone sends it to me but as soon as I click the play button; it just gets blocked.

It's not a glitch. Sending Video Messages was never available on Windows XP computers. This feature is only available on Windows 7 and higher systems.
You should be able to receive Video Messages. However, for this you need to install the latest Internet Explorer IE8 version for Windows XP and download Flash Player for Internet Explorer.

Messages will not send or receive files.

My messages app picks and chooses when it will send and receive files. Usually they are images or videos but also some Pages documents. Bringing up the file transfer window shows the spiraling download bar for receiving files and sending files will say "sent 0 kb of ____" and not move. Is there anything I can check to

I found that on my desktop computer I cannot send or receive any files (pictures, documents, etc). However if I log into skype on my Android phone i can receive and send files. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Try to reset all Internet Explorer settings:

Next reset LAN settings:
Open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings. Make sure that the only option selected is “Automatically detect settings”.
Next clear all Temporary Internet Files:
Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General. In the section “Browsing history” press the “Settings” button and in the next window the “View files” button. Delete all files from the Temporary Internet Files folder.
Reboot your computer and test now what happens when you open this link in your Internet Explorer.

File-XI-File:one sender channel, multiple receiver channels on same BS

Hi !
We need to send some files from one server to another. On the source, the filenames have a fixed prefix and a timestamp. On the target, the files should have a fixed name (time stamp trimmed). We would like to use one sender channel with the advanced file selection option and for example 3 receiver channels, each channel for each fixed filename. All destination channels are for the same business service. And because we do not need mapping, and want to improve performance, we don't use the repository.
Is this possible? or because this only a 3 files scenario, we should make it as 3 different scenarios, each with its own sender and receiver channels?

is it this line which is confusing you <b>"Contrary to popular believe, the message or document sent thru XI does NOT have to be in XML format"</b> ?
well it just means that you can send any data(.jpeg,.pdf xml .xls or anything) by doin the bypass scenario.
IDOC's are something which can give u problems if you dont do IR steps(specially mapping)coz a lot of values need to be hard coded.but suppose ur doing a async File to RFC,then i guess you can do that by using the bypass scenario.
i won't count on bypass scenarios for all of my requirements,but yeah if both source and target have exactly same data type i will give it a shot,irrespective of the interface i m integrating.

File Adapter - Reading 2 files from sender and one file to receiver

All - I am looking for a best solution for reading two files from sender and generating one file to the receiver.
Here is the scenario
Sender file s - A is a master file. B is a detail file; B will have a one to many records for each record of File A.. that is the relation ship between 2 files.. I am looking for a better solution to
Example
Input:
File A will have a record like "summary1 ABC 1234"
File B will have a record like "Detailfor Summary1 CDF 8679"
Output:
File C shall have a record "consolidatedofSummary&Detail ABC 1234 8679"
1) read records of master row and detail row from these 2 files
2) do the mapping to the receiver output format which it is creating for records with some harcoded values and based on the values from master and detail rows of sender file
if I can accomblish reading sender files and do the mapping to the receiver , assume that mapping to the receiver format would not be cumbersome.

Ur approach to the interface is perfect.... Go ahead.
For selecting multiple files in source use Advanced Selection for files.. and specify the directory paths and also the file name shema...
This will fetch the 2 files into the integration engine... then u map the 2 source files to one target file(2:1 mapping).
Specify accordingly the receiver side FCC and test it end to end...

It supplied the method and code sample you could download . You may need create a listener to listen on the right port on workrole always.
