Windows XP, Celeron processor

Does anyone know if I can develop java in Windows XP (Home Edition)with a Celeron processor. I got a laptop recently to help me study Java with windows\XP with an Intel Celeron CPU. 1000MHZ 256meg ram. My dos\prompt says 'javac' 'is not a recognised as an internal or extenral comand operable program or batch file'.
cheers,
Martin,

Have you installed jdk1.3 or jdk1.4, and after changing to the directory at the DOS prompt where you have saved your java source code file, have you set the path at the DOS prompt as path = <the directory where jdk1.3/bin or jdk1.4/bin is located>
eg,. if you have saved your java file as Main.java in D:\mand, and jdk folder is in C directory then you should do following:
on the DOS prompt:> cd D:\mand
> path = c:\jdk1.3\bin
> javac Main.java

Can Indesign CC 2014 run on a Intel Celeron Processor?

To expand upon Bob Levine's response, there is nothing in the Adobe installers that tests the CPU in terms of model, speed, and capabilities. That having been said, Intel Celeron processors have historically been stripped down, low power, low speed cousins to the mainstream Intel processor lines. It may possibly not support 64-bit operation in which case you would be restricted to the 32-bit flavor of InDesign and its address space limitations.
A Celeron processor might also be indicative of a system that isn't particularly well-endowed in terms of other resources including memory, disk, video, etc. and depending upon your configuration as well as the complexity of the documents you wish to create and/or edit, you might find performance lacking at best.
    Proceed with caution.

  • Windows reporting incorrect processor speed

I have an A31p (2653-R9U) with XP Pro SP3 loaded.  I've loaded many different OS's on this box since I've had it and have noticed that Windows reports the processor under "System Properties" as:
    Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R)
    4 - M CPU 2.00GHZ
1.2 GHz  1.5 GB of RAM
My question is.....is the 1.2 GHz the processor being used or the amount of cycles available?  I've seen it at 2.00 GHz and as low as 788 MHz.
    Really curious???????????????

Your Pentium processor has a feature called SpeedStep that allows "the clock speed  of the processor to be dynamically changed by software. This allows the processor to meet the instantaneous performance needs of the operation being performed, while minimizing power draw and heat dissipation."

    Hi all,
I am using a xeon 4 CPU machine with Windows 2003 (64 bit). I just downloaded Oracle 9.2 (64 bit) and found that it needs Itanium processor. Is this an absolute requirement? Can I still run it on xeon? What are the problems?

  • Palm T/X Sync with Windows Vista - 64 processor

I have a Palm T/X handheld and recently purchased a new computer that has Windows Vista operating system and a 64-bit processor. I tried to download the software that would allow me to HotSync my T/X with Windows Vista, but apparently this does not work with a 64-bit processor. Is Palm going to provide that software download soon, or if not, how do I get around this issue? Thanks

  • CS3 Wont Open in Windows 7--AMD Processor Issue--HELP!

After much, much searching I've found there's been a common issue with AMD Processors on Windows 7 and getting CS3 to run correctly. Apparently a patch was created, that fixed the problem for users with similar issues. But the links to those patches are no longer valid.
I have no phone right now, chat aint working--and I can't email Adobe of course, soooo someone please...
The forum I found with those links and explanations is here:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/software/25313-adobe-cs3-64-bit-ultimate-3.html
From there, this pretty much describes it:
"Just bought an HP Pavillion Elite with Windows 7 Home Premium and AMD processor.  Photoshop CS3 would install but would hang when accessed. Some forums  suggested that Photoshop CS3 is incompatible with this AMD processor and  Windows 7 (64-bit). I called HP and was told the software is  incompatible. I was just about to return my computer when I found this  forum. I downloaded and installed the patch. I then opened Photoshop  (for the thousandth time) and voila--it FINALLY opened!!!"
I've also found many other isntances of this complaint with AMD Processors--Photoshop gets a window open then goes into Not Responding. All other applications don't open at all (but are visible in my task manager). So it's not really a Photoshop specific complaint but I'm placing it here.
I've updated graphics card, changed the desktop theme to Classic, not Aero, tried running the programs in different compatibility modes, all to no avail.
This patch these guys are mentioning has GOT to be it. Someone help me get back to work!!
    thank you all in advance.

I had not tried "run as administator." What the hell is that?! I see where to do it and all, but honestly, these permissions
/security/owner/administrator issues on Windows 7 are nothing short of ridiculous.
Every time I think Microsoft may have finally done something right...
I'll try that again down the road. For the moment, looks like Adobe Acrobat 8 is completely incompatible with Windows 7 and almst impossible to delete from the system. SO first task--restoring factory setttings.
In the meantime I'll speak to that patch for Licenseing:
Solution 1: I ran it, but didn't seem to do anything. There was no confirmation of a successful "install," or what you might call it. Secondly, when running again, I was never prompted to enter 0.
Solution 2: I believe those settings were already set as described and so I couldn't really make any changes.
Solution 3: Those folders don't exist, so couldn't do that one.
For various other reasons I wasn't having luck with the next couple thanks to stupid permissions. I'll try again once I've gotten back up to speed.
But yea, someone out there seems to have found a CS3 patch. Am I at least to presume that CS5 would def. work on my comp, and therefore, CS6 is a shoe-in?

  • Firefox worked fine until upgraded to Windows 7 - would processor speed be the problem - everything else is fine.

I have Firefox 28 which worked fine when I had Windows XP. Upgraded to WIndows 7 (updated all my drivers, etc). Now Firefox has times when it will not respond. Have tried most suggested fixes I could find on here and on-line. Nothing fixes it. It worked fine before the upgrade. This may sound like a dumb question to computer savy people, but would the older dual core processor be having a problem now that I am running Windows 7? Everything works great on the computer except for Firefox and Internet Explorer. I download Google Chrome and so far have not had an issue when using it. I don't care for it and would like to go back to Firefox, but the fixes don't fix it. I have uninstalled and re-installed and disabled plug-ins and removed and added and updated plug-ins, ran various virus/spyware scans, reset, downgraded to an older version, upgraded again, and a ton of other fixes. I wish I could figure out what changed from Windows XP to Windows 7 that would affect both browsers.

I doubt that the processor is the problem here. It might be that something went wrong with your browsing profile during the operating system upgrade.
One thing you can try is to reset your profile: in the "Help" menu, there is an entry "Troubleshooting Information". Clicking on that takes you to a page containing technical information about your machine and browser configuration. Additionally, it has a "Reset Firefox" button in the upper-right corner. Clicking on that starts a process that allows you to create a new, clean profile that contains your browsing history and bookmarks, but does away with potentially-problematic settings in your profile. (Don't worry, your original profile will be left untouched and you can return to it later.)
In many cases, this process solves issues people have with their browser misbehaving, so I hope it works for you, too.

  • Windows gaming and processor speeds

Just a quick question about system requirements for running games in windows on an Intel Mac.
If I have a dual quad 2.26 mhz with ATI 4870, what would the minumum game requirement be that I could run? What should I use as a limit for Just a guideline I mean.
For example, could I run a game that recommends one Intel Core 2 Duo/quad 2.4? Or a 3.2 mhz P4?
I have vista ultimate and was looking for a few games, and just didn't know where I should draw the line at requirements, for example.
    Thank you

To try to make the question clearer, I'm wondering at what point the requirements would start, where I would look at it and know I couldn't run it well. Or, if due to having the dual processors, I could play a game that lists a slightly higher processor speed than my 2.26 on the box, if the Video RAM is about the same?
For example, I assume if it says 2.6 duo core, then my 2.25 quad core could handle it?
Some list a Pentium D for example, but I don't know how that compares to what I have.
    Thanks again

Morning I am intrested in this for my son for simple word processing and internet so it will be enough for that. My question though it shows coming soon shipping store pickup not ava. Im guessing this is just shipping but when will it be up to order

Oh heck ya, if thats all you say its going to be used for. It can be used for Facebook and all that stuff. Just dont try to do games like Sims 3 or whatever on it. If your son likes to go to the library, the laptop has Wifi so they can surf the net there. Libraries usually have filtered Wifi access, if you are unsure, check with the library!

  • Processor requirements for illustrator windows

i have a dell dimension 2100 w/512ram and an intel celeron processor. i didnt see it on the requirements list. will it work and if not can I upgrade it or replace it.

You did not mention which version of Illustrator you intend to run on your machine, but let's assume it's the latest -- version 13 (CS3).
If so, my advice to you is to buy a new PC.
Assuming you're running Windows XP or Vista, it is possible -- by a slim margin -- that Illustrator 13 will actually install and run on your machine. However, it will be an exercise in frustration.
The Celeron is just a feature-crippled Pentium, so it is, technically, a "compatible" processor. However, based on info I was able to dig up on the 2100, the fastest Pentium you can install is a 1GHz processor -- assuming you could even find a P3 processor.
At 512MB, you're already at your machine's maximum memory capacity, and that's woefully low for this kind of work, and especially for Illustrator.
My guess is that you're also working with a very slow hard drive that's running out of space.
Nope... don't even think about trying to upgrade your 2100. Donate it, whip out your credit card, and get a modern PC.

While it is possible, doing so is in direct violation of Apple's EULA. It is illegal. As others have said, search before posting. Furthermore, Apple has designed OSX for a known set of hardware that they design themselves. If you do manage to get it installed, it likely won't work as advertised.
Given your current setup, I would suggest that you try to sell off your current laptop and get an MacBook Air (or MacBook Pro if you can get enough from your laptop). The MacBook Air currently starts at just under 1k - or just over for the larger screen.
Would you mind providing your working budget?

  • Windows 8.1 Hangs, Crashes, Office 2013 Excel Crash

I'm an IT professional (over 20 years). I feel qualified to make these statements in this post.  I also know that the download sites for Windows 8.1 never give any warning as to what works, what doesn't, driver updates needed etc.  In fact it's
being sold as the next best thing! Just download and upgrade.  There's even a tool I ran that told me my laptop was ready to go!
My environment is an HP 6530B laptop that worked flawlessly on Windows 7 professional with IE10.  I upgraded to Windows 8.1 about 6 weeks ago (upgrade went flawlessly) and have had nothing but nightmares.  Here's the list, so beware.
Blue Screens are frequently seen.  I was able to reduce them by clearing out all the UPDATEs and applying a select few of them.  How can updates make things worse?
System Hangs, forcing a power down 3 to 4 times a day.
IE11 crashes, sends a dump to MSFT and reboots itself at will about 5 to 7 times a day.
Certain Monitors used as a second monitor that worked in Windows 7, cause the system to go haywire and become unusable no matter how many times you reboot.
Automatic updates and manual update checks frequently don't work well.  If you press the Check Upates button multiple times, you will get different results.
    Some updates make matters worse
There appears to be random memory leaks in the Service Host process
Service Host process group frequently hogs memory 1.5 GIG or more. (These are all MSFT services)  It is believed that some of these processes have a memory leak.
Office 2013 is unstable when using either Word or Outlook (will hang system)
Excel 2013 throws errors when connecting to the TFS Team client to download Workitems, it can seem to interpret the data.
Excel 2013 (issues, problems, crash) will crash on simple moves of area data from one group of cells to another.
VS2012 will hang and WINDBG cannot be attached to debug the process
    VS2013 works much better!
Starting up Cisco's VPN client 5.0.07.0290 will hang the system 1/2 the time.
Some installed products such as Infor's EPAK crash and burn when used.
The only good thing about Windows 8.1 is Google Chrome because it ran fine!
To me this is the worst production roll out I've ever seen from the team that produced the platform we've adopted.  I can't flog anyone, but I can post an honest assessment of my experience.
