Wireless connection is not established in Oracle Linux 6.4

Hi,
I have lenovo Y500 laptop. I have installed OEL 6.4 into it. And I have a router installed in my home for personal use , where a dedicated broadband connection is attached. From windows 8 this wireless is picking up fine and I am able to do the internet. But problem is with OEL 6.4. Network connection shows a X sign over a network icon ( 2 TV sign ).
I had fired below command :
$ lscpi | grep -i wireless
and it shows me output :
$ 03:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communication Inc. AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
And also fired command :
$ iwconfig
which shows me :
$ lo no wireless extensions.
So it seems to me that , the wireless driver is not present for the adapter I have. Is my assumption correct ?
If yes , then how to resolve that ?
Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

From what I can gather, there is no wireless support for your wifi adapter under Oracle UEK2, which is the default kernel in Oracle Linux 6.4 (OL). You might want to check the vendor support page to see if they provide any source code to compile your own driver.
However, there should be support in the original RHCK kernel, which is installed too. You can change to the Red Hat Compatible kernel during boot time in the Grub boot menu, or edit /boot/grub/grub.conf for a permanent change.

I'm assuming you are not using any virtualization, because there simply wouldn't be a wifi adpater in your virtual machine.

FTPOpen Data Connection: Could not establish connection

I need to transfer data files from a local directory to a remote system via FTP.
I can open an FTP connection, login and list existing files at the remote location. I even tried to rename files at the remote location, it works.
Trying to sen files to the remote location using the FTPPutFile.vi causes an error "FTPOpen Data Connection: Could not establish connection".
Any idea, what causes that error?

That's very peculiar that this should be happening, as it obviously sounds as though you have already established a connection. Have you tried running any example VIs? This is usually where I start to debug a problem. It shows me whether my code is wrong or something else (which is hopefully the issue).
I found a good example for you on NI's website which makes a call to both "Get File" and "Put File". It ran successfully for me. You may want to see if it gives you the same errors.
It's currently configured for an FTP server which I use, so you'll want to change its connection, but that's available through the front panel. Let me know how it works for you.

Actiance Vantage server duplicates the IM details and both Active Active Vantage servers connection is not established at the same time

Issue with the Actiance Vantage server.
Env: Lync 2010 Server , Vatage servers - 2 active , 1 passive
Commn: FE contacts HLB to reach Vantage servers
Recently we have added one vantage servers to the lync environment and made two vantage servers as Active.
After adding 3rd vantage servers and made two vantage servers as active , we are seeing the following behaviours:
1) archived messages are duplicated with different transcripts ID
2) Two active servers connections were not established at the same time. Only one is active at all times. There is four front end servers.
Request for suggestions.

Did you receive any error message?
Please disable the third Vantage server and test again.
Please check if all services started for all FE servers and Vantage servers.
You can enable logging on FE servers for further troubleshooting.

Ralink RA3290 does not work on Oracle Linux

I have just bought a new HP Pavilion G6-2213so which seems to have a ralink rt3290 wifi chipset
(Just so you know I'm not very experienced with linux when it comes to install new drivers etc)
I have installed:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.3 (Santiago)
Linux hp-v074617 2.6.39-300.17.2.el6uek.x86_64
I have downloaded a driver from mediatek, unzipped it and
ran
make
make install

When I run i got

Support and demand for Wifi on a Linux enterprise server system (RHEL based) is generally limited and usually a desktop system requirement, for which other more suitable Linux distributions exist.
You need to be 100 % about the model of your Wifi adapter.
What is the output of lspci -v related to your Wifi adpater?
Does the driver you download support the Oracle UEK2 kernel (2.6.39)?
You could try your installation starting the system from the original RHEL kernel at the Grub menu to see if it makes any difference. If HP support nor the OS installation provides a driver for your hardware, check http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php which focuses on hardware related packages to enhance Enterprise Linux.

Database home page not opening in oracle linux 4 after installation?

I have just installed oracle 10g express edition R8 (32 bit) in oracle linux 4 (oem 4) which is running on vmware. After installation on going
application(start)->oracle 10g express edition ->Go To database home page. Database home page starts on konqureor and it shows
"An error occurred while loading *http://http//127.0.0.1:%httpport%/apex*:
Unknown host http "
All the other application including plsql is working right which comes with oracle 10g xe. But without Database home page i can't start doing plsql because i can not create any database without opening database home page.
I have also posted this question in yahoo answers(_http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjLqSLCkMZzaJgBv_igbiN7ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120324013912AANOlL9_) but what answers has been provided i am not able to understand.

The leading characters, delimited by the colon (':') specify http protocol. The string between the first colon and the next (if exists) specifies the fully qualified name of the host, or the IP addess of the host. Take a look at what you have there: //http//127.0.0.1" I really don't think your host name is "//http//127.0.0.1". More like '//127.0.0.1"

WRT54G - Desktop connects, wireless connections will not

I have a WRT54G router and until a few days ago it worked fine. My desktop connects to the internet, however the two wireless computers will not. I am also unable to connect to router via 192.168.1.1 on the desktop. Both wireless computer show a strong signal but do not connect to the internet. I checked the ip adress on one of the wireless computers and for some reason, it has aquired the router address (192.168.1.1). How can I fix this? I tired ipconfig/release and renew but it keeps using the same address.

As you mentioned in the post .... under wireless connection it show Ip 192.168.1.1 .... click start >> control panel >> network conection >> Wireless network connection properties ...
Go to Internet protocol TCP/IP .... check that is it showing Ip settingsunder Manul/Static or DHCP ....
If Manual then change it to Automatic Configuration DHCP .... click OK ...reboot the computer. ... Try to connect to new network ....
See if you are going online ....

WRT300N wireless connection will not work when a wired computer is online line

I have an ATT DSL connection. I have no problems accessing the internet when the when my two wired Desktop PCs are online. However, when I try to access the wireless connection through my Laptop (when the Desktop PCs are on) I get a message that Windows could not "Connect to the Wireless Network." However, when I turn off the desktop PCs my Laptop searches for and is able to access the internet. Solutions anyone?

The operating system for the Laptop is XP. The IP address of the modem is 192.168.0.1. The IP address for router is 192.168.1.1

Wireless connection is not working on my Satellite U400/03S

Hi Guys,
I have Toshiba Satellite U400/03S laptop and I have a very strange problem that I can't seem to get around.
I signed up new ADSL2+ connection and yesterday when was I trying to setup it up I found the I can connect to internet through wired but not wireless.
The laptop shows the network in the list with full signal strength. I have configured the connection properties identical to my laptops including the WEP key and such. When I go to connect to the network, it just sits and says "Waiting for network" for approximately 5 mins, then that dialog dissapears and never connects to the network, just goes back to the network selection screen.
Has anyone had this problem? If so how did you go about fixing it? This is very frustrating and have been playing with router options and computer options for hours now trying to get it to work properly with no luck.
Just to let you know guys that I am using Billion BiPAC 5200G RC wireless router and windows XP pro on my laptop.

Hi buddy,
I agree with Macius. You should contact your internet provider because I think its a problem with your Internet connection or router that you get from them. So you can check with the guys step by step if everything is configured properly.
For creating a WLAN connection you have to configure the settings in router like encryption, MAC address filter, etc.
For testing I would disable all these security features.
Last but not least you should check the TCP/IP configuration of your WLAN card. Maybe you need a static IP address or DHCP Depending on your router ;)

Lose wireless connection when not in same room as wireless modem.

When I try to use my z60t laptop in another room in the house I cannot connect to the internet. The signal strength is either very good or low. When I am in the office where the wireless modem is located, my signal strength is excellent and there is no problem. My husband does not have this same problem with his HP laptop. I also get a good signal with my iphone all over the house. After calling Verizon it was determined that it is a computer problem.
Any suggestions?

100% certain that I am connecting to my modem. And yes the password is a good one too. As I said, I have no troubles connecting when outside a 5metre or 15feet (for those of us who aren't metric) radius of the modem. When closer then that, the connection will usually drop out.

HP1102w wireless connection setup not working

Followed, re-followed and re-installed the drivers from the website. Turned off firewalls. All other wireless devices in the household work EXCEPT this one. Blue light flashes for awhile, then shuts off. Note: Wired connection via usb works, just not wireless. This is for SAMSUNG laptop model NP47...series

I see that you are experiencing issues setting up the printer over the wireless network. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Reset the printer first to clear out any previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IPv4 address are cleared.
Printing a Configuration Page.
Power cycle the router, turn the printer off and the computer. Then once the router is back up again, turn the computer on and then the printer.
Make sure the computer is connected to the proper network and check your network encryption.
How to Find the WEP or WPA Key or Password for Your Wireless Network.
Here are some settings to check on the router:
If it is set to 5 GHZ network, you may need to change to 2.4 GHZ for the printer to work. (rename the 5ghz or shut it off)
The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.
If you use Mac address on the router, you will have to add the printer.
Make sure there are no spaces or special characters being used for the network name, the printer may not recognize it.
Connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer.
Now to configure the wireless, access the HP Software, select the P1102w, then select Wireless Configuration.
(To launch your applications, go to the Start Screen by pointing your mouse pointer to the left hand corner of the Windows 8 screen and click it) Run through the steps to configure the wireless.
Then disconnect the USB cable.
Test the printer.

Heterogenous Connection is Not Established

HI!
_1_. I am connecting Oracle with mysql using heterogenous services
a. I made mysql ODBC connection
b. Configured hs init file.
c. configured listener.ora
d. configured tnsnames.ora
e. created link in sql*Plus
_2_. But when i select table from mysql, it gives error:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
_3_ I have also used to connect through OLEDB, but the same error comes.
Note: I am using Oracle 10g, mysql 5.0.22, ODBC 3.5.27.
Plz help me in the same.

WRT54GC wireless connection does not work

When I try to connect wirelessly to the internet I get a message saying there was an error connecting to the network. My wired, ethernet connection through the same router works fine. After two annoying and useless calls to tech support and a chat session where I got disconnected it seems that my settings are correct. My laptop is a Mac but I tried also connecting with a PC and it did not work either, so the problem is not platform based. Can anyone out there help where tech support people could not?

from the wired computer , access the router set up page using http://192.168.1.1 .. the default login password is admin .. on the web ui , click on the wireless tab and try changing the ssid , channel - 11 .. if it has a wireless security enabled .. make sure you enter it correctly while connecting to the router's wireless network...

Network connection could not established

trying to sync and update says network could not be established

I'm having the same problem with iTunes on my mac. First I get a message saying the network connection couldn't be established, and then I get unknown error -50.

C4380 & Wireless connection (or not) problem

I have a c4380 wireless all in one printer, Dell 1580 Inspiron laptop, Sky broadband & a Netgear BSkyB DG934G Router.
I have loaded & unloaded printer drivers/software, carefully following (I think) the installation process. I am still unable to print, with a "disconnected" error message.
I have "pinged" & get the following message: -
PING 169.254.127.200 (169.254.127.200): 56 data bytes
--- 169.254.127.200 ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
The IP address of the printer is 169.254.127.200 - I understand it should start with 192...?
Can anyone help me? I guess I need to try somehow to establish a link between the router & printer - how do I do this? How do i find out the correct printer IP? Can my problem be solved? Do I need to ring HP Support? What are they like?

Nigel, im having trouble accessing that link so cannot comment about it for now.
I don't think this is a printer issue completely, and i tihnk it can be resolved. But if you still want to go for a new AiO with wireless capability, then i suggest you go for the HP Photosmart C6380. it has all of the features of your current printer and performs better.
Like i said before, i still suggest you contact your ISP and ask them to install the printer correctly to the network as that is what is preventing the printer from connecting to the network successfully. If they cannot help you, then we'll have to give detailed instructions here.

Form builder is not opening in oracle linux

Hi,
I have installed Oracle EBS in enterprise linux 5.8 . when i am trying to
open form builder with frmbld.sh following error occurs
FRM-91113: Internal Error: cannot get default resource file name.
FRM-10039: Unable to start up the Form Builder
can any one suggest me for a how to resolve this.

169.254.25.129 raouf.oracle.com
123.201.70.57 raouf.oracle.comWhy do you have two entries for the same host? Please edit this file, and make sure you have one IP Address for "raouf.oracle.com", run AutoConfig on the database/application tier nodes then try again.
For the browser, make sure you use a certified client OS/Browser.
