Wireless connection quit! Help please.

I am currently running the following on my wrt300n
Cable internet shared between:
PS2 - wired
XBox - Wired
XBox 360 - Wired
Playstation 3 - Wireless
Playstation Portable - Wireless
Two Windows XP PCs - Wireless
Windows Server laptop - Wireless
The setup has worked wonderfully for about six months or so and yesterday I lost the wireless. The wired works fine, I have just lost the wireless capability.
The wrt300n lights are all green, even the wireless light is on. I have re-booted the modem, and the router, both individually and together at the same time. I have also gone into the router via a wired system and all of the connections seem fine, I turned off the wireless and turned it back on with no luck.
It worked fine 2 days ago and I left overnight (turning all the systems off) and came back with no wireless signal.
Is there a history of the wrt300n wireless just dying like that and what could cause something like this?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have been running a WRT300N for several months w/o problems in a heavilly used wi-fi cafe'. If you haven't changed anything, that doesn't mean someone else didn't. You may want to reset using the pushbutton on the back to factory defaults(hold-in for about 15sec). If it's going to work at all it should after that. Always shut everything on the network down for a couple minutes, then power up at the cable modem working toward the PCs, pause for a couple minutes at each device or until completely booted up.

Hi Guys, my T60 has unstable wireless connection problem. I make sure the radio is "ON". It gets connected to the DSL network but it gets disconnected on and off ( the radio turns off by itself sometimes). Something wrong with my Intel PRO Wireless driver 3945abg? Can anyone guide me how to fix the problem??

    Hi there,
I'm having the exact same problem - installed the OS (Windows XP Pro) adding SP3 and updating all drivers.
Then I connect to the wireless whitout any problems. I go to sleep, and next day wireless don't work!
The Machine is a T60 2008-WGV. I have made a image of the clean disk with Clonezilla, and therefore I can restore the OS quickly to a working wireless, but I find it quite anoing to have a clean OS every morning, in order to use network.

  • My ibook doesn't detect an existing wireless connection...please help

    Hello,
just moved into a new house with wireless connection. all the other computers (PCs) can easily detect the wireless signal but my iBook doesn't. The airport is working properly since I can detect wireless connection in the university, cafes, trains etc...
the wireless router is a belkin.
Do you know if some special settings are required to be detect it or if there are some settings that can exclude my airport from the network?
please help me.... that's so frustrating!!!
    federica

The Belkin router might have been set up to use MAC-address filtering. In that case, make sure to add the MAC-address of your Airport to the list of addresses allowed to access the router.
Also, if the wireless connection name (SSID) is hidden (= closed network) your iBook might not see the network untill you explicitly define the network as a new Airport network connection.

  • HT4587 I can't locate airport express icon in itunes to connect my remote speakers wirelessly, can anyone help please?

Can anyone help please? I am trying to connect my remote speakers to my i-tunes library using Airport Express. Everything is connected and working using mt OS device (Ipod Touch 5th Generation) that works fine. I have tuned on home sharing and it says in itunes preferences that I am paired but according to the light on the airport express base station I am not connected to my existing wi-fi network. I cannot find the itune airplay icon anywhere in itunes nor can I find the network link by hovering my pointer of the network connections as suggested in the instructions that came with airport express. Would apprecaite some help please you can give. - thank you.

    hmmmmm.
i'm not trying to get rid of you here, but it might be worth also checking-in/reposting over at the Airport for Windows forum. when Airtunes things get sticky, i generally defer to iFelix or RJ in WI, and they spend a lot more time over there than they do here.
(traffic is so heavy in here at the moment that this thread might be buried out of sight before an AirTunes guru gets to see you.)

  • Cannot Connet to sever. Because you are not connected? Help Please?

Ok , i was on a website on my ipod, when the ipod password thing popped up, saying i need to enter my password for my  internet connection. I exitted the site, and then i went to setting and entered my passsword, but it just says unable to connect. I dont get it, it has been running fine for a month. I have the neswest ipod with the newest update. Im beginning to think that the website messed up my ipod. Because i tried to restart the ipod, and i even restored the ipod and they both didnt work. Im really fustrated considering i just got this ipod like 2 months ago, not even. And the wireless connect its self works, because im using it to be on my laptop, and my sister goes on her laptop fine. but out of nowhere it just stops working. Please Help.

Yes, the reason you are getting the error is the phone cannot provide internet for the laptop and then update itself. It would lose connection as you erase the firmware and try to update. You need to connect the computer to the Internet in some other fashion before you connect the phone to try and fix the update problem. As Ocean20 says, and I completely agree, how would you think you could use the Internet connection of a device that is not only going to turn off and on, but is going to get completely wiped of firmware and restored? It would completely remove the device from the equation here. Does that make sense to you?

  • Westell 7500 Wireless modem/router help please.

    Hi, newbie here
I recently purchased a laptop for the first time in my life and I am trying to connect it to a wireless connection, which I have never done as well. I am using a Westell 7500 modem provided to me by Verizon. I did a bit of researched and apparently (if I'm correct) I don't need a wireless router or any other devices to get wireless internet.
If I am correct, I went to my modem's IP address and turned on wireless. I set up and changed the SSID and enabled a pass phrase, and I connected to the network at the bottom right. It connects, but there is no internet connection. What I mean by this is that it connects to the device successfully, but there is a triangular yellow warning sign with an exclamation mark on my internet bar at the bottom right and in my "Network and Sharing center" it says "no internet access."
Am I doing something wrong or do I need to buy an wireless router? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You do not need to buy  a wireless router. the 7500 will do the job! I assume you have windows 7. OPen network and sharing center, manage wirleless networks, do you have any entries for your Verizon  ISP?  If yes delete the entry and go to step 2.
If no go to desktop and press f1 to bring up help -  search for (Setp 2)  "set up wirless network" and let us know if that works for you. Welcome to the forum

  • WRT610 wireless connection quit working

I just bought and installed a WRT610N for my wireless network. I have 5 laptops and a desktop running various OS, such as WXP, Vista Home, Vista Ult., etc. Also have a range expander. Everything was working last night. All with the same SSID's, all using the wireless  WPA. Range expander was working Blue, Blue. Router was setup in default mode (Wi-Fi protected). This morning, the range expander was Red, Blue, and none of my wireless connections worked. I finally uninstalled the 610 setup software, reset, bebooted, you name it, and I still cannot get any wireless connection. I have wired connection, obviously, as I am writing this. I've about had it. Any thoughts here? Something I may be missing?

I am afriad, WRT610N is not compatible with WRE54G Range Expander...I wonder how both worked together...

  • Pismo G3 P/Book wireless internet connection information & help PLEASE!

    UK Based.
My newly obtained G3 PB is running OSX 10.3.9 and has a Dell TrueMobile 1300. 802.11b/g PC Card.
The card, I understand will allow me to connect to the internet wirelessly but how can I do it please.
    As always, thanks in advance!

    Ian,
Yes, connect via Ethernet if possible, then launch your onboard Software Update. There may be many updates listed for your machine, but you are interested in the ones for AirPort. If you have never run Software Update, there will also be Security Updates plus updates to many Mac applications. The last thing you want to do is to allow all the updates to be downloaded and installed automatically...this can sometimes lead to problems.
This would be my suggestion for updating even for just the two AirPort additions:
    1. Launch Disk Utility in the Utilities folder, select your HD in the left column, then run Repair Disk Permissions and Check Disk. If Check Disk reports errors, you will have to boot to another volume like your 10.3.x Cd to make repairs, or you can restart into Safe Boot (hold down shift key at startup chime, release when you see the spinning gear). Safe Boot runs a disk repair during startup and may be able to make repairs; now run Disk Utility's Check Disk again.
    2. If the HD is OK, restart normally so all software loads; do not launch any apps other than Software Update; uncheck all listed items except the two AirPort updates; click the box to download and install. When completed, if you are required to restart, do so.
    3. Disconnect your Ethernet cable, install your WiFi card, then go to Mac Help in the menu bar and enter 'airport', then look for connecting to the Internet with AirPort.
Regarding other updates: Install the Security Updates one at a time; if you do not use apps for which there are updates, don't bother unless you feel the need to have them.

  • Wireless connection speed fluctuating:  please help if you can.

    Hi there,
I have a problem with wireless Internet connection speed which spinning my head off, I desperately need other people advice please.
My AirPort Express (AirTunes) serves the flat with Internet, two pc’s and an iMac (Intel Chip). The first pc is a sony laptop that has the Centrino platform (i.e. Wireless ready) and the other pc has an internal D-Link Air DWL-510 wireless PCI (IEEE 802.11b)
The laptop seems to get the maximum speed of the internet connection anytime anywhere in the flat, the iMac gets 70% of the connection speed. While the PC with DWL-510 gets only 30 – 40% of the connection speed only. However, sometimes all the sudden, both the iMac & the PC will get the maximum speed as it should! On a random bases.
I am puzzled trying to establish why is that happening? what could it possibly be that is curbing the connection speed to start with? And what changes that sometimes the pc will get the full connection speed? I have a wireless phone at home, I have a wireless temperature controller as well, and there are wooden walls dividing the rooms in between. I tried switching the wireless devices on and off but the results produced had no affect. My AirPort Express is password protected, so (most likely) no one is steeling my bandwidth. So, what else am missing? What other factors that causing this fluctuation in my internet connection!!?? Please advice if you can think of anything?
    Many thanks.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iMac 17' 1.8 MHz PowerPC 1.25 mb RAM

hello Satchmo.. thanks a lot for your reply.
In regards to the first point (ISP connection), I agree. When I tried to test the line some time ago (on a wired link) I noticed the fluctuation, but it was acceptable. The problem I have now is that the 2mb connection I have, this particular pc receives only 600kb (+/- 10% variable), where is the other 1.4mb going? Sometimes, all the sudden I notice my connection go mad and I get the full speed for a while! I don't know what has changed from the surroundings.
The other things you mentioned (source of influence i.e. other wireless networks that might be crossing mine, bluetooth devices and Ethernet port is used while the wireless is in use) all are viable possibilities. I’ll start testing to check if any of ‘em is the case. Especially other wireless networks, cause its seems that my wireless card discovers at least other two connections along side to mine. I guess if it was the case, nothing much I’ll be able to do about it.
Also thnx for the link.. I don’t understand why I failed to find it when I searched the net!!

  • WRT54G Version 3.1 Connection Issues - Help Please

    Good Morning,
We have a WRT54G Version 3.1. Our existing network is wired and functions fine, I am adding the WRT54G for a few wireless clients.
During testing I have connected the wireless to my computer via CAT5 cable to port 1. I have connected another CAT5 cable to the internet port of the router from a known good wall jack.
When I first open the default address 192.168.1.1 and enter the password, all seems well. Due to having servers that hand out IP addresses, I disable the routers DHCP capability.
I enter the following information for example:
    Local IP: 81.0.0.90
    Gateway: 81.0.0.1
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP disabled
    etc.
After changing the the local IP and receiving a confirmation that my changes were saved and I will be going back to the previous page, the page won't display with the address changed to 81.0.0.90 and it is blank.
I release my IP address through cmd, clear my dns cache and reboot the computer. After restart, I am presented with the stock MS address of 169.254.X.X.
I cannot connect to the local IP I established at 81.0.0.90 and nothing appears to work. The only thing I can do is reset the router and start from scratch...again.
Any ideas on what keeps happening and how it can be resolved once and for all?
    Thanks in advance

even if you have two DHCP enabled on both routers in your network, you will not get an IP adress conflict (exception of course if you're cascading two wireless routers).
a LAN port (ethernet router) to WAN port (wireless router) connection can be established allowing you to have both DHCP server enabled on your routers.
by doing the LAN to WAN connection, you will have two networks in a network.. both network won't meet cuz they will have different IP adress... router 1: could be 81.0.0.90, then router 2 could be 81.0.0.91.
if you want your two routers to meet and be in the network together, you just need to follow QUAK's suggestion to assign a static IP adress on your PC. or better yet, you can just connect the router you're disabling the DHCP server with to it's LAN port from a LAN port as well of your DHCP server (router 1). this is a LAN to LAN connection... by doing that, you will be able to open up the interface of your router 2(DHCP disabled) since your PC connected to it will get an IP adress...
