Workflow: Automated email when field(date) is updated

Gentlemen,
I am trying to implement a workflow were an automated email is send as soon as a specific date is updated. The update happens via webservice.
While testing the following criteria: [<date>] <> PRE('<date>') I found that it only sends an email when the previous value was not null. Updating from one date to the other works fine.
Since we are always updating the complete account record when a field changes in our ERP app, simply have it trigger on changes doesn't work. The workflow has to make sure the previous value was different from the new value.
I have also tried other combinations using [<date>] IS NOT NULL, however I would again need the previous expression to verify the value actually changed.
Anybody have a good workflow at hand for this type of set up?

Hi Ben,
You need to check for both expressions:
" (PRE('<YourField>') = [<YourField>] OR FieldValue('<YourField>') IS NULL) "
You check whether it's changed or was previously empty using the "OR" statement.

The so-called "trigger" is nothing than "when the snapshot has been updated". In other words: it's not the actual data that has changed but a new
snapshot has been created, which in turn has it's own schedule.
The wording "trigger" is a bad choice since when it has been introduced and has irritated many people since then.

JCo getting truncated value from SAP when field data type is RAW

We are trying to fetch data from a SAP-AII table by using JCo using the RFC RFC_READ_TABLE.
We are getting incomplete data when the data type of the column is RAW in a particular table.A typical case is:
Table Name: /AIN/DM_DEVCTR
Field : CLIENT                Type: CLNT    Length:3      Value: 100                                                            (SAP Generated)
Field: DEVCTR_GUID    Type:RAW      Length:16    Value: 306F50F53805ED488DE9797AC86B5728     (SAP Generated)
Filed: DEVCTR_ID         Type:CHAR    Length:128   Value: KDEVICECONTROLLER                             (User input)
For the fields CLIENT and DEVCTR_ID we get the entire value (including blank spaces) but for DEVCTR_GUID we get only 16 characters whereas SAP-AII stores a value that is 32 characters in length. How do we fetch the actual value instead of the truncated value?

NO Email When NO DATA

Hello All,
We are using BI Publisher in our eBusiness Suite 11i. Bursting is used to send the email notification. We have only one query in our data definition. Our requirement is NOT TO SEND email when the query does not retrieve any records. One possible solution could be re-execute the query to get the record count in the function which submits the Bursting request. And then based on record count submit the bursting request.
Is there any better way to meet our requirement without re-execute the whole query?

I can get the record count in the DTD by using the following xml tag

I tried passing this value to my afterReportTrigger function call. But the concurrent request is failed. Here is call to my procedure.

I did all necessay customizing for DFM synchonization but when i modify date in Cproject and i check the project defintion in "CJ20N" , dates are not updated.
Do you have any idea why? Project defintion has a statut "PREL".

One thing that turned on in Firefox 29 is support for <input type="number">. If any of your date fields were using type="number" as a way to be scripted or styled specially, that may no longer work correctly in Firefox 29 and higher.

I made the mistake of changing my email, however because it was an email that wasn't activated anymore I thought it would be in my best interest to do so. However with a new email came a new password ... and it seems that my phone can't accept the fact that I changed my email, and won't let me change it - so my password is Always wrong, when I know it's not. How do I change my email? I am about the restore my phone to factory settings... but I'm hoping that is a last resort... please help!

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Purchase Order - Approval Workflow - Automated EMail to Approvers & Vendors

We are on SAP ECC6.0 with ABAP Stack. That is we do not have Java or Net Weaver Components. There is a specific requirement to have Workflows set up in SAP ECC6.0. Here is the detailed requirement:
1. The Purchase Order in MM is created by the Creator of PO. At the time of saving of PO, an EMail must automatically go to the 'Approver'.
2. The Aprpover on receipt of the EMail must approve the PO and an EMail must automatically go to next level, if applicable as per Release Strategy (say amount is beyond some specified $).
3. The next level, assuming its last level, approves the PO. On Saving of the PO or on Clicking the Release button, an EMail must automatically go to:
     a. Vendor
     b. Creator of PO
     c. All set of Approvers
     d. Head of Department raising the PO
Based on all this, is it possible to set this up in Standard SAP ECC6.0 with some basic Customisation thru ABAP.
Or it is not possible to set up Workflows / Emails sending on click of Release button in our current version with ABAP stack (that is we do not have Net Weaver).
Whether the Workflows functionalities of SAP are expected to be procured separately?

Need to send email to email addresses in one list when list 2 is updated

I have 2 lists
list 1 has email addresses
the 2nd list is actually a document library
what I was wondering, is how can I send an email to people to people in list 1 when list #2 is updated with new documents?
i have been trying different ways of doing it, but no luck....
anyone have any ideas how to capture the email address from list 1 and send them an email when list #2 is updated?

I would suggest you to go for custom event receiver using visual studio. Its an easy way.... try it out.
Choose List item event in event receiver settings.
Step 1:Add item was added and item was updated event. Use caml query to fetch email address and loop through the collection and send email using SPUtility. Refer below code.

yes, you can achieve this by using on demand, create a workflow with When a modified record trigger event and in the action select send email.
If at all you want to send email when a status update, write a function like PRE('<Status>') <> [Status]. try it and good luck.

Send designer workflow email when certain fields changed?

Is there any way we can handle SharePoint designer workflow sending email. If certain fields only changes.
Like checking with previous value and and current values, if it is different and send email. Now I am able to sending email when list item changes, it doesn't matter which field changes. That way emails are flooding into inbox.
I want send emails when couple fields changes only.

Yes very much possible to send email of specific fields change, however workflow will run on each edit but only proceed further when those specific field changes. Keep some hidden column which always will keep changed value for those column. When new value
suppose to change, check with this hidden column values, if different then send mail and update else, stop workflow.

Try from a computer. You may have to reset your password. If you can't get the comfirmation email then you can use the secret question. Once you can log in then you change the the email address.

Creating automated email reminders to users every 2 weeks via Workflow 2010 Out of Box approach only

I have been asked to automate the email reminders to users (every two weeks) from the SharePoint2010 solution.
I am trying to achieve this via workflow ,but am unable to get the results.
Req :
Twice a month the users should get an automated email reminder for a specific task.
1. On 14th (or last working day in mid month -1) of the month. ( a field "mid month end" captures the date as 15th of the month)
2. On last working day - 1 of the month. ( a field "month end" captures the date as last day of the month)
Please let me know how i can achieve this via Out of box functionality. I donot have exp with workflows so a detailed steps guidlines will be very helpfull.

Although you can start a workflow and then pause it for a number of days, I'd feel uncomfortable with that. If the farm crashes, who guarantees that the paused workflows will pick up where they were left off?
SharePoint does no offer to run a workflow on all items in a list/library -- which I feel is a big draw back.
The good news is that there is a free 3rd party tool that can run a workflow on all (or specific) items in a list or library. It's called the
HarePoint Workflow Scheduler and I love it.
You can create a view that shows the items that you want to run the workflow on.
Or, if you know how to write CAML, you can feed the CAML Query right into the HarePoint Workflow Scheduler task.
At my company we have several sites in production that use the HarePoint Workflow Scheduler with a view.
So, first, create a SharePoint Designer workflow and define it to run manually.
Then use the HarePoint workflow scheduler to define a schedule.
You can define a schedule for the HarePoint tool, like every day, month, week, etc., by just clicking a few boxes.
Since this functionality does not come out of the box with SharePoint 2010, this free tool is a real gem.

I have a scenario, wherein a workflow email will be triggered to a person only when a field (of type person/group) from the list is updated with the person's name.
Now I was trying to put a check condition to send the email only when the field is updated.

Hi Prajk,
As I understand, you want to email a person only when the field is updated.
You can do the following steps in SharePoint Designer.
Go to your list, and create a helper column which has same column type with the field you need to check the updating.
Open you site in SharePoint Designer and New workflow(Choose your List/Library).
Create new variable to check whether the field is updated via comparing the helper column and the filed.
Pick Send an Email to send email to the person.
