[WPSL]Will Windows 10 for phone supports Silverlight app?
As the title.
It is really close for Microsoft to publish the Windows 10.
And now I am trying to develop an app with Windows store SDK.
But I feel that the Windows 8.0 (Silverlight) SDK is more steady (also with more useful nuget).
So I want to ask that will Windows 10 for phone support silverlight app?
It will help me to determine to develop with which SDK now.
Thanks very much!
Victor
Yes. Existing Windows Phone apps will run on Windows 10 Mobile.
For new apps I'd recommend writing Universal apps unless you have a strong need to support Windows Phone 8. This will give you full access to Windows 10 features (if you write a Windows 10 app) or position the app to upgrade to Windows 10 (if you write a
Windows Phone 8.1 Runtime app to target current devices).

Will Firefox for PC support Android apps?
Am looking ahead to replace igoogle. I was hoping that Firefox could support installing some simple apps like weather, movies, news, gmail... etc.
You can't install an Android App on your PC (that's isn't Firefox's fault, that's just not possible). However, if you want to replace igoogle, there are a few things you can do:
You can install an addon, go to addons.mozilla.org and install an addon that does what you want.
Find a website alternative to iGoogle.
In the future we are working on getting some improvements in Firefox that will give you more control over creating features like this :) look forward to those soon! -
I know others are having off the wall issues with sound on their iPhones after installing the iOS 8.0.2...In my case? Thank God the sound for phone calls and alarms work, but the same can't be said for when I try to play music or a radio app?? And the speaker option on my voice mail sticks....
There are 1001 other issues that I have with this so called upgrade, and let's just say that I've been looking at using my AT&T other phone options since I'm ready to upgrade....Since this is the second time in about a year that I've gone through **** and back with an Apple OS upgrade and there just isn't the cache there once was with owning an iPhone? I'm seriously questioning why be brand loyal when I can't find an answer to my issue and the one solution is to go to the Apple Store and deal with the arrogant and rude clerks OR try and see if someone has a decent solution, OR wait for weeks for Apple to offer a bug fix or access to older OS's!
(BTW--I HATE how this OS kills the battery! And I'm not happy with the 2 apps that I didn't want and can't get rid of!)I was hoping that the iOS 8.1 update would have fixed my problem, but it has not. The app updates continue to hang and will not up date unless I follow the procedures mentioned earlier. I have spoken to Apple Care, and their only suggestion was to do a network settings reset. This worked once, but on the following days as more app updates appeared, they would not download. Once again, the only way to achieve my goal is to do one of the following;
Change networks
Sync through iTunes
Reset Network Settings
Turn off Wi Fi and use Cellular Data (not my preferred option especially while at home and connected to my home network).
I think Apple are loosing the plot and seem to be chasing profits more than producing a good reliable product. I would have respected the company more if they had admitted that iOS8 was not ready for general release rather than release a faulty system causing so many problems. -
Will OSX Mountain Lion support PPC apps?
i'm really looking forward to the release of Mountain Lion, however, as one of the major downsides to the release of Lion was its inability to support PPC apps, i'm wondering if there's been any news as to whether Mountain Lion will re-integrate this...

MyImage1.DecodePixelHeight = (int)img.Height;
MyImage1.DecodePixelWidth = (int)img.Width;
MyImage1.UriSource = new Uri(sour);
Any help..
thanks..
Suresh.MHello Suresh,
Are you loading multiple images at once on one page? If so this is an expected behavior. There is limited memory available per app so it's important to not load too large or too many photos at once in your app.
If possible you can try to convert your Windows Phone 8 to Window Phone 8.1 so as to take advantage of the FlipView control which is built to handle photo gallery-like applications.
Also you can always run the Windows Phone Application Analysis tool to check on the application performance and memory usage. This will help you test and fine tune your app accordingly.
Let me know if this helps.

My patience has been pushed to its limit with this iPod and I cannot find hours of operation for customer service and tech support and the phone system just tells you no one is available and call back during regular hours, but nothing saying what those hours are. Does anyone know?
Looking at the Apple's website and previous posts, Apple does not publish the hours. Did you can in the USA during the times that corresponsd to about 9AM to 4PM Pacific time?

Why subtle animation for phone calls (other apps do) on iOS 5 won't work on iPhone4?
So my problem is that each time im driving; perse using a GPS turn by turn app, and someone calls, iOS5 should have a subtle animation for calls right? well thats not for me, i still get that crappy push huge bubble which kills the app being used. I already tried going to setting-notifications-phone, and changed none/banners/alerts but nothing happens, still having the same problem!
Can someone come with a solution!?
PS I'm on iPhone 4 iOS 5.0; I'll never believe Scott Fostall again http://www.apple.com/ios/features.html#notification
How come cydia has CallBar for iOS4 and us with iOS5 cant have the native tweak? Shame on you Scott and Tim!See here: iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

Will Work for RAW Support (D7000 RAW in A3)
I'll offer as many free images from my new Nikon D7000 as the Apple/Aperture coders need to develop RAW support for this camera quickly. Hopefully, this won't take as long as it has in the past, and make Aperture support schedule look completely anemic compared to Adobe LR.
Offer stands, let me knowNo point in telling us, we're just Users like you. This is a User to User forum. To contact the developers:

Will Windows XP/iTunes support the new Nano I bought last week?
I went to the Apple store last week (Nov. 2012) and the tech there told me the new 16-gig Nano would not link to iTunes on my Windows XP desktop. However, a clerk at a nearby electronics store, where I actually bought the device, said it would work as long as I have the latest edition of iTunes. Both guys told me that I could network iTunes from my XP desktop to my Windows 7 laptop, although I have no clue how to do that.
*I bought my Nano in Dec 2006. Assuming it is 2nd generation.*
This will tell you about the different models: Identifying different iPod models
*Now the Nano battery charges when I connect the USB cable to the Windows XP Pro system but Real and iTunes is not able to "see" my Nano*
Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
iPod missing in My Computer and in iTunes
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
If you are using a laptop, this page might help: iPod not recognized when connected to Windows laptop over USB -
What is Apple's policy on providing phone support for Leopard
I've used every Apple operating system since day one (of Apple) and have never had as many issues, especially wireless connection issues, as I have had with Leopard. I would like to call Apple and talk to their phone support folks but I would find it very frustrating to have to pay money for phone support when I've already shelled out $129 for an operating system that is clearly problematic. What is Apple's policy on providing operating system phone support??? thanks... bob...

The Officejet 6500 E709n does have a Windows 8 driver, however, it does not have a Windows 8 RT driver which is what the MS Surface tablet uses. This would explain the message you are receiving.

At the end of my rope with phone support.
I'm not sure what anyone here can do, but I need somplace to share this with. Its extremely frusturating.
Less than a month ago, I purchased my first iMac. It was a slightly older model- a 20" Aluminum 2.0ghz machine. It was purchased from a re-seller and had obviously been sitting on the shelf for a while. I know that the warranty date starts from the purchase date of the re-seller; there is a form to fill out if it needs to be changed to your actual purchase date. In a situation like mine, where the computer had been in the store for around a year, this was essential if I wanted any kind of phone support.
I filled out these forms, faxed a copy of the receipt to the number I was supposed to, and assumed everything would be fine. Within 24 hours, Boot Camp managed to screw up the OS X partition of my hard drive. I needed to make several calls to customer support, where I had to argue with all of them due to the purchase date update taking up to 72 hours to go through. After several phone calls, where I had to explain my situation 15 times and wait on hold for 45 minutes while they found out that it takes 72 hours for the change to go through, and after literally 5 hours of driving to my nearest Apple stores until someone was willing to help me with the problem even though I was "out of warranty" (Reminder- I had purchased this computer 2 days prior. New, off the shelf in the store. It absolutely should've been under warranty.) I was finally able to get the computer fixed.
Today, I figured I'd check on the status of my purchase date switch, so the next time something goes wrong with my computer I don't have to battle with tech support to get them to listen to my problem. I entered the serial number in the warranty info page, and it tells me:
*Our records indicate that your product is covered under a custom contract. For more information about your coverage, please contact us.*
*Your product is not eligible for complimentary phone support.*
When I click "contact us," the only thing that would be able to potentially help me out is the Apple Customer Service phone number. I don't feel like calling and having someone with a medium-thick accent repeat back to me what they understood my issue to be 5 times until they finally get it right. I would love to write it out so someone can just re-read it if they don't wrap their mind around it the first time.
I don't see why I should have to argue my case. I went to an Apple Authorized Reseller, swiped my credit card, and walked out with a new iMac. No, it's not the newest model, but its still new. That's money that just went in Apple's pocket, because of my purchase. There is absolutely no reason why it should be this big of a struggle just to get the warranty that I deserve. I don't feel like I'm being unreasonable or out of line in any way.
Does anyone know who I can EMAIL about this, or am I going to have to put up with the non-help I get on the phone? They're going to tell me that they can't help me out, because I'm supposedly not covered for phone support anymore. Ugh. Please help.I'm not sure what anyone here can do
Nothing. These are user to user forums, of which Apple employees do not take part in.
Does anyone know who I can EMAIL about this,
Nobody...Apple does not offer email support/correspondence. Call support and ask immediately to speak to customer relations. -
I am new to computing. My Mac is intel based with OS 10.7.5. I read on one of the communities that if I use boot camp
to download windows 7 it would open up my mac for PC viruses.
If I get windows for mac from the app store, will I be suseptible to PC virusesBoot Camp installs Windows on a separate partition from OS X. When you boot Windows OS X is not running, so any malware from Windows cannot affect OS X.
Windows must be purchased separately as there is not 'windows for Mac.' There is Windows only.
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
with OS X.
3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows. The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.
