I have been trying to resolve this since like 2 YEARS ago !
The more i think the more i cannot understand ! WHY THE HELL u sell speakers incompatible for ure soundcards ! STOP IT ! I hoped this could be resolved in this new card (since i have just removed sb li've 5.d)
sbli've 5.D incompatible with inspire 5. 5500D (incredible...)(Only real 5. with ac3 signals) and now with X-Fi same again ! if the only way to get real 5. in all Applications/games is to have ANALOGIC speakers ... JUST SAY IT BEFORE BUYING THE SPEAKERS ! Yes i can get sound in all chanels but not in Real 5. ! God ! both speakers and soundcard are yours ! this is frustating is like a bad joke ! Now I must spend another 200? to get new ANALOGIC speakers !?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Speakers box/manual/web says ... great 5. sound ! ..... ejoy youre music/games ! .... ejoy what ! "mix" stereo sound ? have i spend 200? for this? this is a thymus! YES IT IS !
have no words to explain how i feel ...
I don't want excuses, I want solutions (maybe any adaptor or something to resolve it without buying new speakers?)!

The Inspire 5500D is meant for consoles like the Xbox 360 ( which can create a Dolby Digital 5. encoded signal ) and there's another version which supports DTS on the PS3 (with some games).
Your best bet is to get a Dolby Digital Li've certified soundcard like the ones made by C-Media or someone else like this one: http://www.diamondmm.com/XS7DDL.php ( note if you do get a card for this by C-Media, make absolutely certain that 'tis the version which supports DD Li've as they have an identical model without it).
I don't mean to be offensi've, but if you decide to change yer speakers, read a few reviews first. This issue with Creative soundcards not supporting Dolby Digital encoding (DD Li've ) has been known since 200, when the nVidia nForce came out with it. There have been and still are many people who try to connect their Creative soundcards to receivers, way more expensi've than your 5500s, via a digital connection and find out that they only get stereo.
If you have the Inspire 5500D version which supports DTS ( please check that it does before you do this!!!!! ) you could get Creative's real time DTS encoder ( http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=55&product=49 ) which could encode a soundcard's 5. channel output into a SPDIF/TOSLINK DTS stream. There're two versions of the 5500D, one which supports Dolby Digital and another which only supports DTS, so if you go down this route make sure you have the right one.
If yer connecting digitally, you should be able to get discrete 5. channel sound with DVDs. For this to work, you need to disable the X-Fi's internal decoder and set yer DVD player software to output in SPDIF mode.Message Edited by nvidiot on 0-2-2006 07:08 AM

Removing form techs/admins from spiceworks

Can someone please help me to remove a current employee that is no longer working in the IT area?
I've removed both Belinda and Project from the Techs/Admins list but can't see where to remove them from the "assigned to" list. If we had more turnover I could see this list getting long.
Also, is there a way of hiding users from this list IE Authority CRM?

This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks CommunityOK thanks to your help Martin I've ben able to get much further. The process no longer goes into "waiting" and no is in "provisioning" status.
I have a parent resource object that obtains the user's samAccountName. I have a child RO of this that has the group checkboxes. The child table is set for insert events.
Then I have a process for each of the checkboxes (<checkbox name> Updated) that is attached to Martin's JNDI code that a colleague was able to provide.
I have created a process task adapter using the UpdateADUser.jar file and added all of the variables needed by the performUpdate() method in the JAR file.
I'm wondering if, in the Adapter Factory, I need to map the Application Method Parameters for the Constructor and the Method (UpdateADUser.main)? When I try to do this, all of the Qualifier list box is empty, no matter which Map To item I select.
I have mapped the variables in the Process Task but am not sure why the Adapter Factory mapping can't be done.
When I attempt to assign this resource to a user, the custom form shows up and debugging shows that OIM is providing the correct variable values, but I'm not getting any output from the JAR file, so I assume the constructor is not being instantiated.
Am I doing something wrong?

Org Tech Admin can add user from other org?
We are currently on a trial run with CIAC, and I am testing User Management with a Organization Tech Admin account (OTA).
To my suprise, when adding user and select "existing user", I can see every account currently on Cloud Portal, and even successfully add user from other organization to my orgnization.
Is there anyway so that OTA can see only the users in their own organization?I've been able to remove the admin role from a site administrator with an OTA.
I know there are issues when you log with an user then logout and relog with another user, CIAC considers that you are still the previous user (I've encountered the issue several times in portlets in the nsapi requests). I don't know if/how those issues are related, but I'd say that logout/login issue were an user has the same rights than the previous users should be fixed.
Changing OTA rights will not change that particular issue.
For the moment, what we've done is create our own servlet for requests to the sql DB, and our own roles for most services.
Let's see what v4 has in store for us. -
My 2007 iMac slows and freezes while I'm using Safari and iTunes. The iTunes window freezes while music continues to play. Then music can begin stuttering. I have to press the power button to restart becuase I can't access the Apple pull down menu to force quit. The techs I use couldn't figure it out. It seems to be something about my data and not the applications. It's running correctly right now. Does anyone have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Apple Tech Support, Please Help
About a month and a half ago my 20g black and white screen iPod decided to stop connecting with my computer, and then stopped working all together. On december 7th I sent in the repair request, Apple told me that my warranty was up and it would cost 380$ for repairs, or I could fax a proof of purchase into them. On december 11th I went to the place I bought it at and got them to print off the proof of purchase (my warranty was still good for another year.) On december 18th I faxed the proof of purchase to the number supplied by apple. It is now January and the status of my repair still says "Pending on review of proof of purchase." It has been more than a month and i have gotten no word form apple yet. Has anyone been in this situation before?

PC Windows XP ProI had (and still have) the exact same problem with the exact same system. Do NOT call 1-800-MY-APPLE unless you want it to count as your ONE free technical call. I myself can not call this number, because after that one free call, I don't feel like spending $60 to talk to tech support
I don't really know what to do, personally. My hope is that somebody else will know what to do, because I too am in desperation; I haven't had my iPod nearly as long (or for as long) as you.

New iPad Verizon Hotspot Failure/Solution - Tech Support Please Verify
Potential Problem:
Upon initiating the New iPad's Verizon Hotspot, other devices initially see the iPad's SSID, then you receive an "Unable to join..." message and/or the SSID disappears, never to be seen by devices that you are attempting to connect to the iPad.
Apparent Cause:
The characters used to name your iPad are the default, unchangeable characters used to name your iPad's Verizon Hotspot's SSID (the network name).
You cannot change the SSID, unless you change the name of your iPad.
Apparently, when it comes to naming the SSID, certain characters, maybe including spaces, are not allowed and subsequently corrupt any connection.
In my case, my iPad's name, and therefore it's SSID had a space and an apostrophe in it, one or both of which (probably the apostrophe), would not allow proper broadcasting of the SSID and the connection to the hotspot.
Preliminary Solution:
ename your iPad using alphanumeric characters without spaces or special characters; stick with letters and numbers.
To rename your iPad, connect it to iTunes, and before doing anything, allow it to sync.
Then, with the iPad's name showing in the left-hand column of iTunes, double click it's name, which will allow you to rename the iPad.
Reboot the iPad, and hopefully, the hotspot SSID, which is your iPad's new name, will reappear among the visible networks on your other wireless devices.
Apple Tech Support should verify this problem/solution, then provide guidance as to allowable naming conventions that won't trip up the hotspot.Having the same issue...
After I get the "unable to join" message on my laptop, I turn off, then back on the Person Hotspot and then the second attempt to join from my laptop works...
I did rename my ipad, however i didn't use special characters or spaces... maybe just renaming is causing problems?

FCP and G-TECH RAID - PLEASE HELP

I have looked at the manual and searched this on discussion topics but I can't figure this out. I have a 1TB G-TECH RAID and I would like to use this as my scratch disk for FCP. but for some reason the volume only comes up as readable. I have tried to add and delete files from it with no success.
Can anyone help? thanksI ended up restoring the hard drive and erasing everything using disk utility and started from scratch.
I am trying to capture DVCPRO 50 footage using a panasonic deck via firewire. I have set up FCP in DV50 and my capture preset is set to DV50 and the external hard drive has been set as the scratch disk.
I have no problem writing to the disk now, but for some reason I don't just get one file when I import a clip. in comes in as "File Name -av" and I have about 7 of those files. none of the seven files open but when I sent them to the trash the "main file" failed to open.
How can I change it so that I will just get one DV50 quicktime file for everytime I capture a block of footage?

My phone is not working. I have tried turning off and on. I looked online how to remove the battery but there is no instruction to be found anywhere. Every place I go to they keep telling me to call tech support. If I was able to call tech support then I would not be complaining about my phone not working, would I?
I'm assuming you have a phone with a non-removable battery? You can try holding both volume buttons and pressing power, this will do the same thing as a battery pull. A little more insight into what is wrong with your phone (as well as which phone you have) may help get you a solution.

My new birthday present of an i-phone 4s, can not be synced with the navigation of my 2011 Honda CRV. Can anyone give us hints on what to do, as the Honda dealership can not enable the phone to work with hands free. Help, this is very frustrating as the old cheap phone,worked perfect. Apple did not make this a user friendly product for cars.
Start by reading the User's Guide which will provide details for how to pair the device with other bluetooth devices. This may also require reading the Owner's Manual for the vehicle to find out how to put it into pairing mode.

Hi Caroline,
The storage issue you are having is not related to iCloud. The error is telling you that you do not have enough room on your device itself. You need to go to Settings>General>Usage, and under the Storage section at the top, it lists all of your apps and other things taking up room on your device.
You will have to delete or reduce the size of items on this list in order to free up some room for your update.
Also, you may want to try the update by hooking up your device to iTunes on the computer you sync with. It does not require as much free memory to update via iTunes as it does OTA.

Mac/Apple Tech Guys: Please help (Mac Mini/Imac issues)
I have been tasked with setting up one of our rooms as a Mac lab. We want to do it wireless. We have a MAC mini server which is going in via a cat 5 into our network, which works, it sees our network and the internet. We wanted to use the wireless features on the new IMacs and use the mac mini as a work group server. It was grabbing a .192 address so the units cannot grab the internet. At the end of the day we just want these macs to be able to share files and access the internet.
We thought we could just use the air port feature and they would "see" each other.
I never said I knew anything about MACs/apples outside of basic trouble shooting stuff and my boss understands this, but we need to get this working for the kids (they start school Tuesday).
Keep in mind when you answer, I know virtually NOTHING about macs and apples, etc so speak to me like I am a baby.
PLEASE HELP!I'm not sure I completely follow your description, but I'll take a stab:
1) you want the Mini to act as a file server for the iMacs
and
2) you want the Mini to provide a internet connection for the iMacs.
Do I have that right? Is there anything else?
Perhaps you could give us more details about what these Macs will actually be doing and running. (For example, will you be running Windows?)
How Many iMacs are there? And did you purchase OSX server software for the Mini, or are you intending to use the builtin sharing features of Leopard? -
