X230 Top bezel bumps dents palmrest

Hi,
I've been using the X230 for a while now, but I started to notice over the months there's small marks on the right side of the trackpad, which seems to be caused by the top bezel bumps (seems pointless other than causing damage)...
I live in the UK, and I have 3 Years Warranty but I am unsure whether if the problem worsens, I prefer if I had someone on-site to replace the palmrest? I cannot stand waiting for weeks for my laptop to return from repairs, as my X230 is needed for college and in general use at home.
Is it possible if the damage worsens, I get the palmrest part sent so I can replace it myself or I have a person from Lenovo on-site to do the repairs?

My X220 unit has the same symphtomes. However, my unit is already after warranty, so I plan to buy new LCD bezel (I got broken upper corners and the down bottom looses from the screen) and palmrest. It is not as expensive.
If you do your repair fine, it should not harm your warranty (somebody correct me if am I wrong).
But this topic is very old, so maybe it will be good for somebody in the future.

My dealer showed there pictures in the sun. I took pictures the same day the jeep but from the side with no sun. This was the delivered day and when I zoom I can see the dent. Even now straight on shots zoomed in you cannot see it.

Zooming is only to change what you view - you need to crop the photo to the view you want to print (us the print size to constrain so you get exactly what you want

How do i remove the top cover for the K410?

I spilled water on the top of my computer, and it messed up one of the USB ports on the top of it... now the computer constantly pops up connect/disconnect messages. I want to take the top bezel (or cover, or whatever it's called) off so that i can disconnect (or cut) the cable to that USB port, but i cant figure out how to remove it. Does anyone know how to take it off? It's the very top of the machine, which has the power button and 4 or 5 inputs.
Both USB cables go into one plug at the motherboard, otherwise i would just disconnect it there. I suppose i could cut one of them at the motherboard, but i want to make sure im cutting the right one.

Just guessing, if water is should dry in a day or two and not be a problem. Also, guessing, probably have to pull the side cover to get access to release the top.

Dent in left speaker on Iphone 4

Also, right on top of the dent is like a black marking....any ideas? same phone since june 23 too.

Actually, the iPhone has only one speaker. What appears to be a speaker on the left is actually a microphone:

Does your Mic work? If so, you can try making an appointment at an Apple store. I can't say for certain the geniuses will replace your phone, but if they don't & the Mic works, just live with it.

Chrome bezel scratching - my results for getting rid of the issues

well, I was nervous as **** about it, but an incase case managed to scratch the bezel and give it blotchy marks.
I had tried cleaning it and using a very very mild polish, but nothing worked.
So I decided to take teh plunge, with the feeling that if it didnt work, id sand the bezel down to a matte finish.
I used Autosol metal polish, very lightly and carefully, followed by meguiars scratch x to clean up the finish and add some resiliancy, followed by a finishing polish, i.e. a foam based one, usually used with the final polishing on a car before shipping.
It worked! PERFECTLY! even worked on the back of the phone, 99.9% of the scratching is gone.
I dont want to go any deeper or harder in fear of stripping it, but it looks ten times better!

Ok well as you can see from the pictures above, thats it in it's current state, so I decided to mask up the phone and give it a **** good polish this time.
I used a microfiber cloth and a standard polishing cloth, Autosol Metal polish, Meguiars ScratchX, Masking Tape, and a can of WD40 and some window cleaning spray. All will become clear

Now time for the back, I've removed the masking tape, and predictibly, there is some residue which the Meguiars will remove for me, and clean up the back end.

Polish Going On, I should point out that the meguiars is a very gently finishing polish, so i didnt go to heavy here, and I was careful to avoid the camera

At this point the phone was clean so to speak, There was some residue on there from the tape and polish, so spraying a little WD40 on the cloth and wiping it over removed all of that, esp in the little bits where it got through the mashing between the bezel and the screen, took a firm touch but it worked perfectly. After that, I wiped it down thoroughly and took a fresh cloth, microfibre in this case and not the one I was polishing on, and cleaned it with window cleaning spray. Before finally rubbing it over thoroughly to remove any excess. I used a little tiny bit of water on another cloth to remove any alcohol that could have been left by the window cleaning spray

All in all I'm very pleased with how it turned out, despite absolutley bricking it and very nearly not doing it at all in fear of destroying it. It worked with a gently touch. Phone looks and feels like new

How to fix dented speaker on iPod Hifi?

I just bought a demo unit at a Sound Advice. Overall I'm very happy with it but unfortunately the speaker on the far left is dented right in the middle. It doesn't affect the sound quality but I would love to fix it. I have no idea how to open the unit or whether I should take it to an Apple Store. Anyone else have this issue and resolved it?

I had a similar problem, but my issue was caused by my 5 year old throwing something at the speaker.
Anyway, here's what I did...I took my vacuum cleaner hose and put it on top of the dented speaker...it took some jiggling but eventually the dent was removed. I don't think any dent on a speaker will be cover by a warranty so whatever you do to remedy it may be at your own risk. Having said that... the vacuum cleaner trick worked for me.

Suggest good and proven HDD for t400?

Hi All,
Need to upgrade my T400 and T61 HDD. I want to have 7200 RPM 320GB. Is the upgrade quite noticeable, I mean the speed and performance? What can you recommend that is already tried and tested?

Interesting. I'm running a Hitachi 320G 7200RPM drive in my T400 with no detectable vibration. On my T61, a Seagate 200G 7200RPM drive vibrated like crazy - tried two of them - but a Hitachi 200G drive was pretty close to vibration free.
I'm quite happy with the Hitachi in the T400. It is fast, quiet, and cool. YMMV.
I wonder if the reported manufacturing changes in the T-series keyboards and top bezels could explain the difference?

How Durable/Strong Are Our Macbooks?

Hey all, just curious. I sometimes worry that I'm too rough with mine, as we all tend to get complacent and not think about things. Just wanted to get your take!

I use a macbook 4.1 (from mid 2008). The plastic is very susceptible to damage (much more susceptible than my work Acer from 2006). I believe the main problems are caused by two plastic ridges that are at the top of the bezel about 1" from the sides of the computer. Over time it will break off pieces of the bezel and the palmrest.
Apple corrected this design feature in later macbooks (the ridge runs the entire circumference of the bezel which reduces the force being applied to the palmrest and bezel when you close it). I believe this problem applies only to the 3.1 and 4.1.
You can figure out what model of macbook you have by clicking on the Apple logo on the top-left of your screen, then "about this mac", and "More Info..."
BTW the plastic on the top and bottom of my mac also has various cracks.
So, the rule of thumb is be very careful with it if you have one of these models.

Blackberry ID - forgot password, forgot password recovery info, exceeded login attempts, why can't BB send me email to reset password.

THE ISSUES ARE:
1. FORGOT PASSWORD

3. EXCEEDED ATTEMPTS TO LOGIN
I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLES FORUM PROBLEMS THAT ARE THE SAME. WHEN I FOLLOWED LINKS THAT SUPPORT GAVE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
What I need is simply this: Blackberry to send me a RESET PASSWORD link to the email I have registered with Blackberry WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVIDE PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO. This will enable me to bypass unknown recovery password info and access my Blackberry ID account.
Why haven't I been able to find a solution to fix the problem?
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO EXIST........ ANYWHERE..... EVEN ON YOUTUBE BLACKBERRY ARE RUNNING AN OUT OF DATE SOLUTION CENTRE.

Local Authentication Lockout

Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the sign in screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the verify password screen

Users have total of 10 attempts to enter their password correctly against the BlackBerry ID Account Server.

Providing an incorrect password within the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on any BlackBerry device or BlackBerry PlayBook
Note: if a user provides an incorrect password 5 times on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid), and then 5 more times on the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on their BlackBerry PlayBook, the cumulative number of failed attempts is 10. Once the user has made 10 incorrect attempts to provide their password against the Account Server, they are locked out of the Account Server PERMANENTLY until they reset their password.

Can the tech department of Blackberry please sort out this ridiculous unhelpful system by sending customers a direct email if password is forgotten so they can reset without having to go through the above without finding a solution.

Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
But do please keep in mind that security is a 2-way street...the human element play an equal part in that security, and you have failed at that in this situation, yet desire for the automated methods to still recover for you. Such just isn't possible, because your failure has exceeded the capabilities of the automated methods.
Hence, you likely need human intervention from an actual BB representative, which is not available in this forum (as discussed in the first link I gave you above). But, the methods to attempt to seek human intervention are posted within the 2nd link I gave you.

Lenovo T500 Brief Review

Hello Lenovo Community!
Recently, I bought a Lenovo T500. After much research and reading many user's opinions as possible (two of which that was really helpful was on this forum by MidnightSun and www.notebookreview.com) I chose the T500. In my research, I could not find many video reviews and was kind of disappointed (obviously, it was not a deal breaker.) I would have liked to have had more written reviews, video reviews and just in general more information. So, I want to do this review to help future researchers become informed consumers! If anyone has any questions or suggestions (e.g.. Of bloatware to remove or any tips) please chime in!
Preface
Before I begin my review, I want to say that I am in no way an expert at computers beyond the basics. I've never bought a laptop before, and my old computer (given to me) was a Gateway M465-e, a business oriented laptop. It came with 512 RAM, 1.6 Ghz, 15.4" screen and I really liked it. It lasted me 5.5 years (and still going) although the past few months, it has really taken a dip (hence the reason for buying a new one!) I will be comparing my experiences with the T500 with that Gateway. I will be using my computer for mainly working with spreadshett, word documents, surfing internet, media hub (especially for iTunes), and, OF COURSE, playing video games! Whoot for switchable graphics!

Initial Impression
My computer took about a week to arrive. The packaging was fairly simple. I had expected the box to be bigger (why, I have no idea. I guess this is commensurate with the premium price. Hah.) Inside were the usual suspects: the computer, manuals, startup booklet, power adapter, XP BackUp CDs, ThinkPad nubs (replacements) and battery.
At first look, I thought it was quite big and bulky. However, after comparison with my Gateway, I found it to be slimmer and lighter (I chose the T500 primarily because of resolution; I really wanted the 1680x1080 resolution.) Personally, I love the sleek black look. It makes it look ominous, menacing and clean. It felt sturdy, but not as much as I had expected (I had this crazy idea that it could take a light-medium bang from a hammer.) Perhaps the image formed from reading about IBMs were a bit inflated. Anyway, it was clean, all the ports were where they are meant to be, it smelled nice, and of course looked pristine! It implored me to turn it on.
Build and Design
As aforementioned, I am becoming a huge fan of this design. From the creased overhang of the top bezel to the asymmetrical screen position, I love it! Little details like the hashed/ribbed strip from the top left corner and the imbedded "UltraConnect" lettering above the screen really make the ThinkPad feel like it warrants the price, special and unique. The top of the ThinkPad is made of a rubber-plastic material that allow a good grip. There is minimal logos and stickers. I especially like the indicators on the top (when it is closed) as well as on the bottom of the screen (when opened.) The hinge also seems to have been well built as it has a lot of resistance in opening the lid. When it is opened moving the the notebook does not move the screen at all (I hate it when you have to readjust your screen after swinging it from one place to another.)
One thing that bothered me a little was the vertically-positioned USB ports. I have a USB-port-extension device which increases my number of ports by 3. However, I am unable to use this device because of the shape of the device and because of the vertical port. It is difficult to describe, see below for picture. Anyway, having only 3 ports is quite terrible, considering my 5+ year old Gateway had 4.
Keyboard and UltraNav
One of the first things I looked for was the much-feared keyboard flex. This seems to have been mostly remedied because there this minimal flex on the right portion. There is, however,flex on the left portion of the keyboard (maybe left of the u-h keys.) It is only when I press quite hard that it flexes. When I am typing regularly, as I am now, it is utterly unoticeable. The keyboard, overall, is quite good. I like the clicky feel of it and can type on it with no hinderances or reserve. The volume buttons are VERY welcomed as they provide responsively (my old GW I had to hold the Fn to adjust.) I just say that the position of the PgUp/PgDn/Home/End and Esc button is a bit awkward as I have to move my hand quite out-of-way to access them. This is but a minor issue. I also wished that the delete button wasn't where it is. I use the delete button quite a bit and it is kind of difficult (as in the out-of-the-way sort)
As for the UltraNav, I am quite fond of it, although there are times when I prefer the normal touchpad-and-button. For me, the UltraNav is quite sensitive and can be frustrating to use. One moment you're shooting across the screen just fine, but then finding that one small spot on the screen is quite tedious. And yes, I know you can adjust it, but I just can't seem to find the perfect level. I have seen older ThinkPads, and think that I would have liked to have the red strips on the UltraNav buttons.
Display
The display is great, it is of the matte variety and is non-reflective (rather, minimally reflective.) It is clear and crisp throughout without any dark areas or any irregular eveness. It looks great at 1680x1080. The viewing angle range is wide and being 15.4" has lots of estate. The one thing I would like to comment on is brightness. My friend, sitting next to me, has a MBP, and I must say, it is far bright than the T500 at maximum brightness. And, yes, I did allow the screen to reach full brightness. This is not so much a big issue at the moment, but I do kind of worry that in a few years my non-LED display will become much less bright. But that's a trade off I'm willing to take (for screen resolution.)
Performance
In terms of performance, it seems to be slightly slower than I had imagined. I expected that it would blaze through everything and it mostly does. When adding my 10k+ songs onto iTunes, it took a significantly shorter time than my Gateway, but longer than I would have liked.
I played Bioshock, at first attempt at maximum resolution (1680x1080) and with all the bells and whistles turn on. It was sluggish, and barely playable. I had to turn the resolution down quite a bit before I thought it was smooth (as on Xbox or a PS3). I surmise this might have something to do with my RAM amount because even just sitting idle 65% of physical memory is used (darn you Vista and ThinkVantage!) The performance, I suppose, could be called as snappy and powerful and will handle, I'm sure, anything I will throw at it during normal usage (e.g. not gaming.)
Battery Life
When I ordered the computer, I didn't put too much on the battery because the T500 will be my desktop replacement and will be plugged in most of its life. Despite this, I have attempted a to measure battery life on a charge; I must say that it is pretty good. On a full charge and normal usage, i.e. wireless, multiple tabs on while online, Windows sidebar, and Skype, I was able to get about 5 hours plus or minus half an hour (I usually don't use my computer in blocks of 5 hours, so when I do stop, I put it to sleep.) This is pretty good considering I have the 6-cell battery and is not really a priority for me. Though still important when considering the price of the system as a whole.
Audio Speaker
The speakers are generally weak compared to my Gateway. The volume isn't has loud and the quality of the sound is not as good. This too like the battery life, was of low priority because, even though I use the T500 for media, I have a set up at home where I can plug it into a system that amplifies the sound and quality through speakers.
Heat and Fan
Compared to my Gateway, the ThinkPad is infinitely better in terms of dissipating heat and reducing noise. On the GW the fan would run incessantly, even without any taxing programs being run. Then it would turn into hyper fan mode and eventually shutdown from overheating. In the ThinkPad, the story is completely different. Even when I ran Bioshock, though audible, the fan never was intrusive. The heat, too, was quite good. It gets warm but never hot. If you want to see numbers, you should look at the review on notebookreview.com. I don't disagree with those numbers.

I apologize for not continuing the review as stated earlier. I won't review much else, UNLESS REQUESTED (and please, if you want me to review some part of the machine, I will more than happily do so, so just ask!)
For the final part of this review, I will give, what will be my final impression on the machine (that is, before my long-term; which won't be for a long time.)
Final Impression
I have now had my T500 ThinkPad for quite some time now, having used it for various tasks and knowing its idiosyncrasies, can say that overall I would give it a 8.5 out of 10. I really hate giving a definite Yes or No to these things, but if I were to be asked whether I recommend this computer or not, I could not say without full reservation that I do. There are several reasons for this: Firstly, though I love the resolution (as aforementioned, 'twas reason I opted for the T500 over the T400), I wish it were brighter, i.e. LED-bright, but at this resolution, and as of this review, it is not offered. And sitting next to a MBP owner, who's gorgeous screen is a stark reminder of superiority in terms of screen brightness, it instills a sense of uneasiness because of the not-cheap price--though to be fair, a spec'd up 15.4" MBP is significantly more expensive (~$600 more; I have the 3 years accidental damage and warranty.) At full brightness, it is a joy to look at, anything lower however is much darker. For example, with all lights off and in darkness, the lowest setting was difficult to see---what?---I expect to be able to see (read: use) it comfortably without straining my eye at every setting. Otherwise, what's the point? This is to say the screen is not bright enough at all levels. I understand the remedy is as easy as turning up the brightness, but that is not the point.
Secondly, ThinkVantage is helpful however it is ultimately a bloatware for me. When I open up the Task Manager, I would say about a third of the processes taking up my memory is ThinkVantage stuff. Taxing my system when most of the time I don't need it. To uninstall it would kind of defeat one of the uniqueness of the system (I mean, they even dedicated a button for it) and just doesn't seem right. I have yet to do so because I don't know the kinds of effect it will have on the system, so it may or may not be done.
Thirdly, there have been several crashes. For example, yesterday instead of my usual Fn-F4 (sleep), I closed the lid instead (which should yield the same effect.) As I got home from work, I found that not only has it not been sleeping, but had had the processor running inside my protective case. It was HOT and as I opened the lid, I saw the Blue Screen of Death. Additionally, it takes a long time for the computer to go to sleep (I'm talking about 30 seconds-1 minute.) My 6 YO Gately does it in 5-10 seconds, but then again, it runs Windows 7. This is probably the fault of Vista, though and can't be blamed on Lenovo.
All in all, if I could re-order a system from Lenovo, I would consider the T400 with LED and the same configuration (though I would want the T500's more powerful graphics option.) I realized that though I initially wanted the large screen size, I would trade it for portabiltiy. I realized the T400's screen was sufficient after looking at the MBP. I still wouldn't get a MBP because it just doesn't offer the flexibility of a PC (I find PCs easier to manipulate in general.) Happy shopping!

I have upgraded from 2gb to 4gb RAM (Vista bu 64bit) but T400 was still slower than the old MSI notebook. I had MSI 12", 1.8ghz sempron, 2gb RAM, 160HDD with UBUNTU 8.04. Now T400 with P8700, 4gb DDR3, discrete Ati 3470. What really helped me was NOT using Vista at all! I'm now on RC of Windows 7, it's much faster (boot, turning off, and aslo system respose is I think 4 times shorter than Vista has). Just wanted you to know how are these systems different. But if I had a choice, I would go for some linux distribution. Sadly fingerprint reader and thinkvantage software are not supported

Z10 Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts

I've compiled these tips from several week's worth of using the Z10 BlackBerry.
For the new Z10 user, you'll find some good stuff here and I urge you to just sit down for 20 miutes and go through each of these. They'll stick with you that way.
For the experienced user, please feel free to post your own tips in this thread! I'd ask that we stay on topic, and let's get as many as possible posted here.
Settings
First, find your SETTINGS easily by swiping down from the top bezel. There you will see Settings, Bluetooth, Alarm, Rotation Lock, WiFi and Notifications. In your Settings, you will find your About screen, Network Connections such as your mobile network, Mobile Hotspot, NFC, Airplane Mode, etc.; your email accounts setup, Language and Input, BlackBerry Protect, and many other key settings.
Name your Z10 at Settings > About > Device Name. This is the name of the device a WiFi router will see, when using the BlackBerry Link on your desktop, or when sharing media files.
Remember the Overflow icon, which is noted by the ⁞ icon (three horizontal dots) This icon is often seen in the Hub, at the bottom of email compose screens and in many core BB10 apps and will lead you to more settings, options or actions for that screen.
Take a screen shot of your Z10 screen by pressing both the UP and DOWN volumes keys simultaneously. The screen shot is saved in your Pictures folder.
Stop the red LED quickly by tapping the top edge Standby button. Sometimes I don't have time to even peek at the Hub, and a quick tap of the standby button let's me get back to work for a few more minutes.
Hub Quick Controls: While in your Hub view, tap the overflow icon ⁞ and then Settings > to find your settings for Hub Display and Actions (change the sort order of messages, download images automatically and more), Hub Management (you can enable and disable which email accounts, Facebook, and Twitter to appear or no in the Hub.
Application settings can often be found by swiping down from the top bezel to find more Settings, Help, or About that third party application.
Disable the Delete Message Confirmation from your Hub screen > tap the overflow icon ⁞ > Settings > Display and Actions > scroll down to and disable the Delete Message Confirmation.
Peek when busy! If your actively in an email or other app like Twitter, you can use one finger swiping slowly up from the bottom bezel to view any mail, BBM or Hub notifications on the left or right of the pane. Keep your finger on the app and swipe back down to continue in the active app, or let go to move to another app. Swiping up from the bottom and over to the right all in one action hides that active app and takes you directly to your Hub.
Check your battery percentage at Settings > About > change the top Category from General to Hardware and the battery percentage is at the bottom of the screen. I've downloaded "Battery Watch" from BlackBerry World for free, as an icon on my screen.
Speed Dial settings are found by opening your Phone application and while in the Call List or Contacts view, touch and hold the desire contact to add to your Speed Dial and on the popup side bar, touch the Star icon (Add to Speed Dial).
Typing/Keyboard
Word Substitution on your Z10 works beautifully! Find it in your Settings > Language and Input > Automated Assistance > Word Substitution. We formerly called this AutoText, and it works all the same as before. There are a few pre-loaded, and I make my own, for things such as creating an entry of "hh" which becomes "Headed Home" I often use to let family know I've left the office at the end of the day. You can create Twitter hashtags, such as "bbt" becomes "#BlackBerry10", "myadd" instantly enters my physical office address. Learn to use the pre-loaded entries such as "ld" for today's date, "lt" for the current time, "mypin" to enter your Z10 PIN, or "myver" to instantly enter your BlackBerry model and OS version installed.
Hide the keyboard on any screen by wiping down with two fingers on the keyboard. Now you can see more of the long BBMessenger chat.
Format your Email to add colored fonts, Bold, bullets, or numbering... While in the email compose screen, swipe two fingers down to hide the keyboard and you'll see the Attach, Format, Importance and the overflow [⁞] icon... which allows you do BCC: a contact in the email.
Minize the keyboard quickly by touching the space key for two seconds, or by using two fingers to swipe downward on the keyboard.
Switch Keyboards quickly between the QWERTY keyboard and the numeric/symbol keyboard by swiping down on the keyboard with one finger.
Delete whole words by swiping left across the keyboard. Delete two words by swiping leftward with two fingers, three words with three fingers.
Select a word by touching and holding the word, the blue selection box will surround the word. Hold that word a second longer and the entire sentence will be selected. Another second, the entire paragraph will select; a second longer and the next paragraph will select with it, and so on.
Media
Use the Camera on the Lock Screen by touching the camera icon for five seconds... instant camera for the quick shots without unlocking!
Camera Tips: Use the up or down volume to activate the shutter, or simply touch the screen. Touch the Overflow icon for the camera's Burst mode (touch and hold for sports shots!) or to change the front-facing camera, or the Stabilization mode for shaky hands. The up/down volume keys also stop and start the video camera.
Set your Music Controls to your volume keys by going to your Settings > System Volume > to set the Music Shortcuts to On. Now your device volume up/down keys can be pressed to take you to the next or previous track in your music library.
Calendar
Switch calendar views quickly between the single day view to the week view, tap the screen twice quickly
A six month calendar is viewable, from the month view, by dragging down from top blue month title. From there you can swipe left or right to the previous or future six months, and touch a month to view that month.
Miscellaneous
Customize your icon layout by touching and holding an icon for two seconds until they pulsate... Touch and drag an icon within the current screen and let go to place it; drag an icon across the edge right or left to another panel, or drag one icon onto another to create a new folder with both icons located in that folder (you'll have a New Folder box pop up where you can name the folder). Rename a folder by touching it a few seconds.
Voice Control can quickly access from any screen by pressing the side MUTE key for two seconds (this is the button between the up and down volume keys).
Just Type! I am amazed at the ease of typing and self-correction of my typing mistakes on the Z10. I just seem to enter gibberish and the Z10 makes sense of it all in 99% of the words. Take time the first two weeks to use the word flick as you type and the Z10 will learn even better your typing and writing habits.
Just Speak! I have never been a big user of my former BlackBerry voice to text apps or services. They just never worked right for me. But WOW, this Z10 is actually getting better and better each time I use the Voice Control. Just like typing, it's learning my speech pattern, southern accent and idiosyncrasies. Take some time aside to create SMS messages or emails with the Voice Control and then as you do, make the corrections needed. Doing so will make a world of difference in how Voice Control reacts and transcribes your voice input.
Reset the BlackBerry10 Hub by swiping from the top right bezel to the center of the screen, five times in a row. This will often reset any ghost notifications, your email or social media notifications. You'll see a quick black screen then "Preparing BlackBerry Hub".

Change the Apple color

So lets say I changed my apple logo's color and didnt break anything during the proccess. Will this still void my warranty? I already had a problem with my macbook before i did it which is the battery not showing up or charging while the system is booted. I kinda want my macbook fixed so i can use it on battery power but since i changed the logo color will that screw me over? i didnt even open the bottom case just the top bezel.

The top case is not a user-installable part. So, yes, if you take apart the screen, any damage you do will NOT be covered by your original warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan. If you have a hard drive failure later (for example), it will be up to the technician who repairs your hard drive to determine if opening the top case affected your hard drive. If they determine that your unauthorized hardware change did have something to do with the hard drive failure, then you'll be responsible for paying for a repair.

Directory Structure Errors

In TechTools ( came with Applecare ) i got a failed on Directory Structure, second time since owning my couple month old machine, first time apple recomended reloading.
i dont mishandle it, dont bump, dent, etc, the laptop.
but all of a sudden sometimes my USB keyboard/mouse wont register as being plugged in all the time / techtools HDD errors.
only recent think if done is instal Onyx to look over the logs, and little while after ( days ) the issues started hapening,, same with last time, but didnt think it was Onyx, now im starting to wonder, anybody else have any issues like this, and Would Onyx couse it ( doubt it, but since onyx goes deep into the system, no idea )

It is an interesting coincidence that I came across this thread today because I had the exact same issue myself last night.
I have plenty of space available on my HDD 73.1GB.
I downloaded the latest Onyx last night and when it starts it checks the disk. I got an error on the startup volume so I ran Tech Tools as well.
TechTools came up with that same failed Directory Structure error.
I next tried to reboot the comptuer holding down Apple/S and entering fsck -fy
That resulted in errors. Tried re-running it 3-4 tims to see if it would resolve anything but got the same error with every attempt.
I then booted from DiskWarrior and ran that. It seemed to correct a number of issues and now TechTools, Onyx, Disk Utility etc. find no problems. But it was kind of an odd occurance and interesting to find I was not alone in getting that last night.
The odd thing though is that I also checked my Mac Pro while I was wating on this one to finish and had directory errors on that one as well so had to run DiskWarrior on both.
I was kind of concerned about that to say the least.

Closed lid operations?

I don't have a dock, but I do have an exterior display, a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Is there a way to keep working with the lid closed? or do I have to keep it cracked so it doesn't sleep?

Unless Apple has substantially changed the physical architecture of the Pro line, there is absolutely NO communication between the keyboard tray and the rest of the machine, except for a tiny slot to pass the ribbon cable thru, for the simple reason of keeping the portable safe against accidental spills. Hence air cannot be "drawn thru the keyboard". There will be a cooling effect of the air flowing on top, especially over the palmrests, but most of the cooling is done by the air flowing under the computer, or entering the slot behind the lid hinge and exiting the side slots due to the fans. Thus the advantage of using any of the accessories that lift the portable off the desk for better airflow.
Correct me if things have changed recently, but didn't the Pro's keep awake automatically as soon as you plugged in a keyboard, mouse and external display, even if you closed the lid? ("Plugging in" can be physical, or virtual via Bluetooth, btw)

OSX Yosemite RIM Album Art Deamon crashes every few seconds.

Since my upgrade to OSX Yosemite (OSX v 10.10) the RIM Album Art Deamon chrashes. When I first start up it takes about 2-3 minutes before the first crash, then when I dismiss the crash report, it's only a few seconds until the next one appears.
BBDM was installed prior to the update to Yosemite (It was installed originally on Snow Leopard, but the upgrade was from Mavericksk (OSX 10.9))
I unistalled BBDM, restarted the computer, and there were no crashes, but of course I can't backup my Torch or Playbook. So I re-downloaded BBDM and reinstalled, which required a restart. After 2-3 minutes, a crash, then same behaviour as before.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I've updated both of my Macs to the latest software. (BBDM was only installed on one).

I see a lot of BB Link problems out there for Yosemite users. Since Maverick, Sync Services have been removed but there is a workaround. You can sync Music and media still but for Contacts and iCal transfer and updating Blackberry already have a solution. See below.
Sync features that accompany iCloud and Apple ID accounts utilize IMAP, CalDAV, and CardDAV. These accounts can be integrated on the BlackBerry 10 OS.
To integrate an iCloud account that uses an iCloud.com email address:
From the home screen, swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Email, Calendar and Contacts.
Enter the @icloud.com email address and select Next.
Enter the @icloud.com email password and click Next.
Enable the items to be synchronized (Email, Contacts Calendar).
Select Done.
If iCloud is used for synchronization but an @icloud.com email address is not used, or is not enabled, calendar and contact sync can still be integrated on BlackBerry 10 OS and BlackBerry PlayBook OS, however to integrate these, advanced integration steps need to be used instead of the above steps. The email address associated with the Apple ID must be used. To integrate this method, use the steps below.
Note: If either an @me.com or @mac.com email address are being used, integrate as an @icloud.com address (i.e. Instead of using [email protected], use [email protected]). Apple has aliased @me.com and @mac.com email addresses so they will still receive emails, but any outgoing email will appear as the @icloud.com domain.
To integrate an iCloud account that does not use an iCloud.com email address follow the below steps to:
Integrate iCloud contacts using CardDAV:
From the home screen, swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Advanced > CardDAV.
Enter Description (for example: iCloud or the iCloud.com email address).
Enter Username as the either the Apple ID or iCloud.com email address.
Enter Email Address as either the Apple ID or iCloud.com email address .
Enter Password as the Apple ID password.
Enter Server Address as contacts.icloud.com
Select desired Sync Interval from the drop-down menu.
Select Done.
Integrate iCloud calendar using CalDAV:
From the home screen, swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Advanced > CalDAV.
Enter Description (for example: iCloud or the iCloud.com email address).
Enter Username as either the Apple ID or iCloud.com email address.
Enter Email Address as either the Apple ID or iCloud.com email address .
Enter Password as the Apple ID password .
Enter Server Address as caldav.icloud.com or p03-caldav.icloud.com (If an error returns showing the device couldn't connect to p0#-caldav.icloud.com return to the Caldav setup screen and change the server name to reflect the unique number representing the # symbol. This number could be 1-9 depending on what the return message is. Example: p05-caldav.icloud.com or p04-caldav.icloud.com)
Select desired Sync Interval from the drop-down menu.
Select Done.
Integrate iCloud Email using IMAP:
From the home screen, swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Advanced > IMAP.

Under Encryption drop-down menu select SSL.

Select desired Sync Interval and Initial Retrieval Amount from the drop-down menus.
Select Done.
Note: If the iCloud Email account does not integrate using the above settings, complete the steps again, but under the SMTP Encryption drop-down list select Start TLS.
