  • Time Capsule / Xbox Live compatibility issues...

I have my xbox connected to my Time Capsule through ethernet so wireless isn't an issue. I've tried port forwarding and DMZ host which both leave the xbox telling me my NAT is set to strict. So far though it seems I can still use xbox live with my friends and it isn't an issue. However my girlfriend just got into 1 vs 100 and has played a few times so far. We just booted the xbox up today and tried to log in and now it gives us a network connection error each time we try to play. I've tried every various setting I can think of in the Time Capsule and none of them seem to work. Will my gf never be able to play 1 vs 100 again?
Does anybody else have an Xbox connected to a Time Capsule that is able to play 1 vs 100? Could you please try if you haven't and let me know how it goes for you.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Xbox live Airport issues

My xbox live can't fine my airport express ip address, my lap tops do fine but not my xbox live got any ideas.

    Try the following ...
    On the AX:
o Use the AirPort Utility to check the following settings:
    AirPort Menu
o Jot down the AirPort Network Name. (Note: The AirPort Network Name is the same as the SSID used by the Xbox.)
o Note your Wireless Security settings.
    AirPort Menu - Wireless Options
o Note, whether or not, you have "Create a closed network" checked.
    On the Xbox 360:
o System tab > Network Settings > Edit Settings
    o IP Settings: Automatic
    o DNS Settings: Automatic
o Wireless Mode > Select Wireless Network (Note: If you had "Create a closed network" enabled on the AX, then you will need to select "Specify Unlisted Network" otherwise you should see the AX's AirPort Network Name.
o Edit Wireless Security Settings (Note: You will have an opportunity to select your wireless security settings. They must match those set in the AX.) If you're not using wireless security, then select "No Security" from the list.
    o Apply Settings
o Test Xbox Live and/or Test Media (This will run a series of tests to verify that your wireless is setup properly.)

  • Xbox Live issues - can anyone help

Hello - I am hoping someone can help me out with some Xbox Live connection issues that are driving me crazy.  (Please bear in mind that I am a novice with these issues).
I am attempting to connect to XBox Live via the Xbox wireless adapter and the WRT54GS router.  I have the router hardwired via ethernet port to a desktop computer.  Here are the problems:
    1.  The connection is very weak and spotty, with frequent disconnects.  I would say that I get a successful connection to Xbox live about half the time.  The failure message seems to be different every time.  At best, I get only one red bar on the Xbox Network Settings.  Usually, I have to unplug and re-plug in the router to get online.
    2.  I tried to help the connection by buying a wireless range expander.  However, when the range expander is plugged in, either I am unable to connect or it connects but I am unable to download any updates or content or marketplace runs very slowly.  I assume there is some configuration problem with the expander, but I have no idea how to fix it.
    3.  Even when I am connected, if my wife turns on her laptop I get disconnected.
    4.  When I call Xbox support, they tell me it is a problem with the router.  When I call Linksys they tell me it is a problem with Xbox Live.
Can anyone help?  I have read a couple of posts about setting static IP addresses and opening ports, but I don't know how to do this.  And would it even help?
    Thank you!!!

hi... logon to router's setup page, open I.E. and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it would ask for username and password, put "admin" (default password) as a password, try changing channel to 11, go to advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304, change Transmission rate to 54Mbps, also try upgrading latest firmware on the router, go to www.linksys.com/download and download the latest firmware for the router, logon router's setup page again and click on "administration" >> firmware upgrade and try upgrading latest firmware...
click on "application & gamings" tab...and try triggering 88, 3074 ports on the router for X-Box...reduce MTU to 1365 on the router.

  • Express extending Extreme's Network, Xbox Live not connecting.

    Hey Everyone!
I have an Airport Express (n version) extending my Airport Extreme's (n version) wifi successfully. My Xbox is connected to my Express via ethernet. My Xbox was able to successfully download a system update, but fails when attempting to update an Xbox Live update. I checked Microsoft's website to make sure Xbox Live was running properly, which it is. My network test on the Xbox tells me that it can connect to the Network, it can connect to the internet, but CANNOT connect to Xbox Live. My ip address does start with 10.0.x.xx, I'm wondering if that is part of the issue? I have never had any issue downloading things on the internet via my laptop. My other idea is that I haven't updated my Xbox in about 6 months, so maybe there's just a large amount of updates and it's receiving a bug of some sort? Can someone help me out here?
    -Nate

First, have you had an opportunity to try some of the connectivity troubleshooting options provided by Microsoft for Xbox LIVE? For example, either Xbox LIVE Connection Problems or Xbox LIVE Connection Solution (aka Connection Wizard)? If so, what was the exact error(s) that either were reporting?
Typically, when your console is able to access the Internet, but not to Xbox LIVE, the issue can be one of at least three things: 1) ICMP, 2) NAT, or 3) MTU errors. Were any of these reported when you ran the connectivity tests?

  • New Fios G1100 and Multiple Xboxs Connected to xbox live issues.

I just upgraded my router from the Actiontec MI424WR to the G1100. Now I am into an issue with Fios keeping a connection to xbox live on selected xbox devices. I have 3 xbox 360 and 2 xbox one connecting to the network. Both Xbox One maintain solid connection to live, but the 360 experience I have a totally different experience. My set up has 1 Xbox One Wired, 1 wireless. I have 2 xbox 360 wireless and 1 wired. I am also experiencing problems with one of my desktops which is wired that randomly loses a connection to internet. I been using this TRENDnet 8-Port 10/100Mbps GREENnet Switch (TE100-S80G) to help with wired connections. Both Xbox Ones on the network remain connected at all times, or at least I haven't seen a drop. My experience with my xbox 360s are completely different from my Xbox One.They all drop connection randomly every 5 to 20 min. I can immediately sign back in , but this continuosly happens. I was able to get one xbox 360 to maintain a continuous connection by putting it IP address and enabling DMZ on it. I have tried port forwarding but that doesn't work. Anybody have any suggestions or solution? Or should I just shipped back the G1100 and go back to Actiontec MI424WR.

  • Issues with WRT54g V. 8 on Xbox Live.

    Hey guys,
I'm having an issue with lag on xbox live.  My NAT type is set to open and I have my xbox DMZ as well as port forwarded.  There is no issue with joining games but I'm getting a lag anytime I play.  It's a short delay but when I throw a grenade or something of that sort it takes a second for the grenade to actually throw, and while that seems like a minor problem it makes all the difference in the games.  My last speed test showed 3 mbps down and 500 kbps up.  I've done as much research as possible and I'm sure the problem isn't with my ISP (time warner) but the issue lies somewhere in the router.  For whatever reason traffic is just getting hung up in the router and I CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT.
I have a linksys WRT54G V.8 with the latest firmware.  Its running on Channel 11 and I have WPA2 AES security enabled.  My mtu is 1500 and I have Qos enabled for my xbox's mac address and while in games I show a 4 bar connection to the host pretty much at all times.  I'm stumped folks and any suggestions or even explanations would be greatly appreciate.

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    3) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox
    IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...

    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • Connection issue Xbox Live

For the past two weeks I have had issues staying connected to xbox live gameplay.  I never get kicked off live just out of the game.  I will be playing a game and midway through I will get disconnected.
    Here is my set up.
Wired Connection (purchased new cable today and still having problems)
    M1424-WR Aciontec Wireless router
I shut my router down for 8 hours to see if that would help but it didn't.  I am not having issues with my computer internet connection.
Any suggestions for things I could try?

if you are desperate to play connect it the ethernet cable straight into the ont . The ont is the box that has a logo of verizon and is big. Assuming you are not MOCA enabled. Then you need your router. MOCA enabled means you have a coax WAN cable connected to your router instead of a WAN ethernet cable.

  • Settings don't have MTU settings for Xbox Live

I've been having problems connecting to Xbox Live. All of my PCs wired and wireless can connect to the internet except for my 2 Xbox 360s one wired and one wireless. Some times it says that there isn't enough MTU or can't connect to the network when I follow their steps to fix it. It just keeps dying on me.
I was wondering if the Configuration page has MTU settings?

I don't know which modem/router you are using (guessing it's some model by Actiontek) but read my post about getting connected to Xbox Live with an Actiontek router.  Even if you don't have the same model, you probably will find something useful there.  Also, I said this in the post but in case you don't see it, with these modems/routers, you cannot connect wirelessly, you must connect by ethernet or you will get errors.  The link is below, hope this helps!

  • Xbox live issues. (please help) :)

Hi there, I am having trouble with my xbox live connection, I can sign in to XBL but it does take a few minutes to sign me in, Also when I play games (I mainly always play FIFA) There is a slight lag when im in a match with someone, My players not responding when pressing buttons, Like when I shoot it will take a second or two to shoot which is not normal.
I previously had connection issues and had to have an engineer fix something in my line, Which seemingly has worked perfect for my laptop as everything seems fine, I can load webpages fine with no trouble and speedtester results are as expected. So it may be down to something to do with my XBOX, I use a wireless connection as it is upstairs, but I have tried wired and it is still slow.

  • Xbox live issues

    Hi there,
I will try to be as specific as possible with my problem and hopefully someone can help
I currently have BT infinity broadband and have done for about a year now always with very few issues
When i first got my router i had to forward my ports to enable me to use xbox live i followed an online tutorial and all was great
Recently (about 2 weeks ago) i started getting an issue whereby my xbox live gets disconnected and i can instantly reconnect, i also use a laptop, iphone and ipad all of which suffer no internet downtime.
It may be completely unrelated but i started getting these issues around the same time i started streaming lovefilm on my xbox 360, i sas halfway threw a film when the first disconnection happened.
There seems to be absolutely no pattern to the disconnections, i could be on xbox live for 2 mins or 20 minutes but once it disconnects once, it does it time and time again in very quick succession, i have checked my routers settings and nothing has changed
I have tried setting a static ip which did not work, ive tried reseting my hub to factory settings and reconfigiring this again did not work, i have messed around with settings on xbox 360 and again did not work.
I have spoken to xbox live support in regards to this matter and they say it is an isp provider issue, what do you guys reckon?
Just ran a number of speed tests at speedtest.net,
    Ping: 30 - 35
    Download: 25 - 30 mb/s
    Upload: 3 - 5 mb/s
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Just a couple of questions.
Have you tried using different Ethernet ports on the home hub, including the Gigabit port?
How long is the Ethernet cable between the home hub and the Xbox?

  • BT HH3 XBOX LIVE & BLACK OPS 2 ISSUES

I have seen multiple posts regarding the HH3 and XBOX LIVE however nothing seems to ever resolve the issue.
I have the HH3 with a Netgear 32 Network Switch, i am getting 78 MEG Download With 25 MEG Upload Ping Is At Around 20
My XBOX Is hardwired as are all of my devices my HH3 is set with my XBOX running on a static IP as is DMZ all other port configurations have been removed to avoided any corruption.
I have been having issue with disconnections on Black Ops 2 and serious lag issues, for months.
I have talked to BT several times and even paid for the High Tech Service! I Knew More About Ports And Forwarding Than They Did What A Waste Of Money.
My question to you all is is this an isolated issue or are the majority of you having the same problems as nobody is able to offer any more help!
One more question is i have been asked to bridge my BT Openreach Modem is this worth doing or is it pointless?
Secondly is it worth getting a different router if so what one is the best!
Thanks For Taking The Time T Read My Post

    Hi and welcome Woodygamingguys,
For your info I am playing on both XBox and PS3 and I have no issues with disconnections (so far).
I however noticed that the HH3 does not like to have ports manually opened and or does not follow the rules you add.
In the past I did the same as you DMZ on PS3 and static IP on the XBOX and add the XBOX Live rule to that IP.
I ended up pulling my hairs as the HH3 works fine for a few days and all of the suddent does not open the ports anymore.
So my advise to you would as follows:
    1. Remove all port forward rules you have set and or manually added.
    2. Remove the DMZ (it does not work correctly when the HH3 does not open the ports anyway).
    3. Put the XBOX onto a fixed IP address within the DHCP range.
    4. Power off all your devices off.
    5. Power the HH3 for 3 minutes.
    6. Turn HH3 back on.
By default wihtout any port forward rules you should have Open NAT on both XBOX and PS3 (if you have one) without the need to do anything at all.
Since I put both consoles with static IP within the DHCP range and rebooted it I have since had not issues with disconnections and or any issue with NAT Moderate.
As for the lag on Black Ops II, most of the time it is fine. However depending on the host (no dedicated servers on Black Ops II) you are now dependant on how good the host connection is. If it lags just quit the seession and search another one.
Hope the above is of assistance to you.

  • Not enough MTU's for xbox live?

I've been on Xbox Live for about a year and I've had no problems. Last weekend I tried logging on and I'm getting a message saying I don't have enough MTU's to connect. It says I need 1364 or higher. I am running off and Airport Extreme router and I haven't changed routers since I've had Live. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.
    Tom

The MTU setting is under System Preferences-->Network. Click ADVANCED in the lower right corner, then the far-right ETHERNET.
You'll note the bottom item is MTU, and is probably set at 1500--more than enough for XBL. If you want to change it, change Configure from Automatic to MANUAL and that'll give you access to MTU settings.
As others have mentioned, it's very possible this is all connected to the XBL outage today. However, I haven't been able to log onto XBL for the last couple days, so didn't start troubleshooting it until today. Going to wait it out, though, and check after the outage. Seems a waste right now to bother.

  • Fios and xbox live issues

Ok well ive read all the stuff on the internet about updating the firmware and it should work. My problem is I have the Gen 2 router, so the firmware isnt compatible at all. Im not even trying to do xbox live wirelessly, i have an ethernet ran. My wireless laptop and my wired desktop computer have been running awesome internet since I got FiOS installed about 4 months ago.  Just got my xbox and now im having these issues. Ive tried restarting both the router and the xbox, ive set the router settings back to default. idk what to do, help me out!!!
edit- thru the xbox network connection wizard thing, it looks like its not even seeing a connection at all. could it be i have the wrong type of cable? i just bought it, its a belkin fastcat 5e patch cable. is this the right type of cable?
Message Edited by CRZYairBORNE on 08-08-2009 03:18 PM

    Cable type is fine.
    Couple things to check....
make sure the cable is plugged into one of the lan ports on the router (yellow plugs) not the wan connection (white plug). Easy to make the mistake if you have coax style internet via fios.
If connected correctly, do a quick loop test with the cable to make sure that cable is ok. Take both ends of the cable and plug both ends into the router. for example, plug end one in port one and end two in port two. make sure that both lights light up. If not likely bad cable. If so, cable is likely OK.
If cable tests OK, and you have it connected correctly to the lan, then the problem is likely with the Nic on the Xbox. Try going into the network settings in the xbox and reset to defaults on the xbox.
