Zen Out of Wara

My zen micro is not responding. I've tried all the recovery procedures but only the creative logo comes on the screen. I dont have a warranty cover since it was a gift and the original buyer can't find the reciepts. How can I repair it's

Just experienced the very same problem two days ago to a Zen Micro that was less than a month old. Don't waste you time with email tech support, they were no help after two days of trying to get any worth while help.
If you are sure the player is faulty it's a better idea in my opinion to contact support by telephone, rather than bouncing several emails backwards and fowards, which can take several days.

I THOUGHT I had properly upgraded my Zen Touch 40gb with Play For Sure and added the Zen Touch Suite to my computer. Now, when I hook up to the computer and "explore" my Zen Touch, all of the music comes up listed by the album title, not artist. Very frustrating. I am going to wipe the Zen touch clean and wipe all software related to the Touch (I have several other Creative products) clean and start over. What do I load first? What versions should I load and what versions should I avoid? I don't want to load anything unnecessary on either my computer or the Touch. Is there something else I should have thought of or need to do first?Of the fi've other types of Creative MP3 players I own, this one is the least intuiti've to load an sync with the computer. HELP!

Good ideas, except your point about going up one level can already be done... well sort of. Just use the "Back" button (on the left side above the volume).

  • Unable to turn on Zen out of the b

Hello....newbie here. I got a zen microphoto 4mg with my internet sign up. I have a laptop and from the get go i have had problems. I plugged the mp3 player into my laptop and left it overnight to charge...the software had been installed, but nothing happens. so i bought the power adapter thinking it had something to do with the laptop and battery. SO what happens is i plug it in to a charger or laptop through the usb cable provided. The screen turns on black with creative logo. seconds later the surrounding turns bright blue. Then nothing, no icon charging and it never turns off. I tried researching the topics and couldn't find an answer...sorry if this has been answered already. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!! thanks:smileyvery-happy:

Remove the battery and place it back in the player. When it's connected to USB or the power adapter, does it seem to charge? What happens when you try to turn it on, is there any response then? Try turning it on while it's connected to USB/power.

  • SCreen on 30gb Zen Xtra is war

I can't provide screenshots, but my viewscreen seems to have moved itself up, and the top portion of my screen is now at the bottom of the screen.
I can't really find much on this occurance, so I thought I'd see if anyone had this happen, and might know how to fix it.
It still plays perfectly, and everything works as it normally would, only the GUI seems to have wrapped incorrectly.
    Thanks

I can't say I've seen or heard of this happening before.
It hasn't been subject to "extreme" temperatures has it's A picture would give a better indication, but it isn't something I've seen happen before.

  • How can I determine which Zen is for

    New here, hi all. *waves*
I am interested in a Creative Zen, as I've heard nothing but great things.
Is there a chart somewhere, that compares all the Zens out there, so I know I am choosing the right one for me? I know that newest isn't always best, and the best one isn't necessarily the best one for me....
I want one for songs, songs, and more songs. Not at all for pictures - I've got other outlets for that, being a photographer and all! I want at least 30gb, none of that gb stuff! The ones where you can watch movies are cool, but how do you get the movie on there? Hmm, I sound dumb.
So if anyone can point me in the direction of some site where it helps people like me, I'd appreciate it!! Thanks so much.
    Jennifer

    OK, Jennifer.
I suggest that you definitely get a Creative Zen Vision: M. They are wonderful. Amazon has them all for 99-206 dollars.
I recommend the green one (or the pink one since you're a girl :P)
    Here's the black one:
    http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Zen-Vision-Video-Player/dp/B000CS7UC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_/02-2565953-7776928?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=7803626&sr=8-
Now don't go jumping the gun, Jen. I have heard tons of problems with many Creative products. For instance, a lot of people complain that they sometimes can't get their Zen Vision's to connect to the computer to put files on it. But if you have problems, just come back to this site and we'll try and help.
There is also a chance that you won't have problems too because others have said this before.
I must say, however, that this site is even more helpful than the one we're currently on so bookmark it or something:

  • Someone please help me to find a USA to US power adaptor for the Zen Mic

Help ! I recently received a 40th birthday present zen micro from a relati've in New York, however the plug is the USA 'two flat pin type'. I have detached it from the power supply to find two smaller pins underneath so please someone tell me where I can buy the UK version of this 'plug top' from. Standard US to UK travel adaptors don't work as the collar diameter on them is too small meaning that the Zen's power supply won't fit ! I am desperate to try my new Zen out but I'm stuck ! Many thanks for any help.

    ps.
I've gone for the cheapy uk shaver adaptor and it works fine. My zen didnt need any firmware updates but bizarrly the spare battery took nearly fi've hours to fully charge against the first which was just under three !
Lastly, does anyone know if the warranty is valid in the UK (ie Global) seeing as my zen came from the US.
    Thanks again to all.

  • Error deploying war file to Oracle OC4J

    Hi
I am deploying a WAR file compiled under creator 2 update 1 and exported for the 1.3 environment. The WAR is to be deployed on Oracle's OC4J 10.1.2.0.2 server.
Previously, everything worked fine, and I could deploy this war and make all the oracle config changes required to run the creator application. Now, it has stopped working. However, I can deploy another app compiled in the same way to oc4j no worries.
When I deploy this particular WAR file (for this particular project), I get the following error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Resource /faces/index.jsp not found     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.EvermindPageContext.forward(EvermindPageContext.java:221)     at JSCreator_index._jspService(_JSCreator__index.java:47)     [SRC:/JSCreator_index.jsp:3]     at com.orionserver[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].http.OrionHttpJspPage.service(OrionHttpJspPage.java:56)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspPageTable.service(JspPageTable.java:350)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.internalService(JspServlet.java:509)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:413)     at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:853)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:824)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:330)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.HttpRequestHandler.processRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:830)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:224)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:133)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].util.ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor$MyWorker.run(ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor.java:192)     at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)
Now, it seems to be that the server can't find the index.jsp page which is redirected to from the jscreator_index.jsp default file. however, the index.jsp file is there in the war file - and seems to be valid. I am not sure if it is something to do with the /faces/ mapping as I can't figure out where this is set or pointing to.
Anyone got any pointers as to where I can look for a config issue with this WAR or with OC4J to see if everything is being set up right. Like I say, if I compile any other WAR and deploy it in exactly the same sequence of steps it works fine - something i tested by running up a quick test app to the server and checking it could be served.
I can still deploy an older version of this war, which tells me it is to do with something that has changed in the last 6 weeks or so of our development, but I am not sure how to go about trouble shooting this war file to see what I can do to fix the issue.
any help would be really appreciated.
    ta
    ben

on a follow up to this, it seems that the issue was caused by the source safe product - we had got some of the project files checked into source safe, and after checking them out, the war would compile and deploy and run. i am following this up but if anyone has any pointers as to why this might be or what file (the nbproject directory specifically, plus the manifest file) would cause this sort of behavior, I would appreciate it

  • Extension libs in Tomcat .war

Hi all. After researching ANT for a bit, and the ins-and-outs of .war files, I'm feeling a bit more adventerous with deploying web apps via JWS.
I've been studying the very good Sun/Oracle tutorials on deploying apps via Web Start, but I'm stuck on the JNLP API. I don't understand when or why I need to use the classes in the api such as DownloadService.
I came across having to use the jnlp library when the code I would expect to work fails without error.
(The console opens, appends nothing, closes)
I have all my code in a try block, so it's a bit strange that catch (Exception e) catches nothing. - Or at least keeps the console open :/
(For ease of tracking, questions will be numbered!)
+1) Are there any java logs or anything where I can verify what is going on?+
So, after some reseach, it most likely is because I am using extension libs in my war.
    +2) Is it?+
I will add the jnlp file I create is made by a servlet (after taking some params etc from my JSPs).
A copy of the generated file I have saved and hosted on the remote server, which JaNeLa verifies as follows (where jdom.jar and jaxen-1.1.3.jar are simple pointer jnlps to the jars in my /web directory along with all my other files):

Other information would be that the jar file ("http://hemmels.dyndns.org/WebTriad/web/jdom.jar") is accessable from a browser.

All the above seems to be irrelvant.
My console was closing because the client's stream was empty, and I was trying to read from it.
This was causing an Exception in my client code I wasn't catching (shame on me).
Consider it a hard lesson learnt :)

  • Help please!!! problem with setting up Zen NX (software/driver e

<SPAN class=postbody>Hello, i am new to this forum and have limited knowledge about the Zen NX and would really appreciate any help or advice that you could offer. O.K. i got a Zen NX in Jan 2004, ran the software disc supllied, no problem. I then turned on the player but it was not recognised by the computer ("Device not connected") so i went to the support site and found out that this was a known problem and needed to download a piece of software which i think was named (Drv_JB3.EXE)?. Once this was done i had no problem at all and the player turned out to be a great piece of kit. About two months ago i had to re-set my computer to the factory settings because of a virus, anyway yesterday i decided i would put the software back in for the Zen NX and add some new music. I did everything as before, and luckily i had saved the extra piece of software that was required in order to get the computer to recognise the player. Unfortunately, everytime i tried to download the software it just kept saying that there was a problem with the driver and that i should reconnect the player in order for the software to work, which of course never happened and it just kept on repeating this message everytime i reconnected the player. Anyway i spent the rest of the day uninstalling the main software and reinstalling and then trying the latest drivers downloaded from the creative website and also the latest version of Media Source etc, all to no avail (getting well pi**ed off at this point) i even did a "restore" in XP to see if this would help but no joy. Just to let you know i think that the origional driver version was (.23.00) and the Creative Media Source version was (.0.84). I do not think that there is a problem with the USB port or cable as the computer recognises that a new piece of hardware as been added when i plug in the player.
<SPAN class=postbody>I have posted this message on nomadness.net but as yet i have had no reply<SPAN class=postbody>
Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated, before i launch the Zen out of the window!!!
    <SPAN class=postbody>
    cheers, Burni.

    Get the following:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
    2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2. and 3. (the player must be connected for 2. to verify you have a Creative product).

  • Dropped Zen Micro- CANT FIND RECIEPT/WARRANTY

I bought a zen micro on holiday in Spain in August and about a week ago some **** knocked my Zen out of my hand by mistake. When i picked it off the floor it had frozen and the blue light turned into a grey colour, now i have looked high and low for the receipt/warranty and cannot find it. Can someone please tell me what my situation is regarding repair....i still have the packaging ...will i be able to send it to Creative? How much will it cost to repair it's--The player still downloads tunes and the library is still there when i plug it into my pc but apart from that all i get when its not connected to my pc is the zen logos then a frozen screen the select music to PLAY from the Music Library screen with no blue light then it shuts down
    -----:geis e xk.e

    Hi,
If you have not got the receipt then contact or CService team with the serial number. If its an out of warranty repair then the receipt is inconsequential anyway. They should be able to help you further.
Before you consider a return though do go through someo fht ebasic recovery troubleshooting. So in this particular case take the battery out hold the power button on and then connect to the PC. You should enter the rescue mode then with for options
    ) Cleanup
    2) Format
    3) Reload OS
    4) Reboot.
Run through each one and restart the unit afterwards. Also with regard to 3 you'll need to have the firmware downloaded from our site and you'll be prompted by the player to start the upgrade. Do of course back up your contents before hand.
See how this goes first - as the player is still responding and not displaying any errors its worth a go.
    Hope this hel

I took my zen out my pocket to switch it on and the woer switch is stuck in the "ON" position. I can move it .5 - 2 mm towards the "Lock" or middle posotion, but i cant switch the damm thing off.
) Any idea how to power it off?
    2) How would i go about un-jamming it's
    3) Why is the customer support number provided with the zen aparantly an "incorrectly dialed code"?
Any help ASAP would be great as I am constantly using my zen.
Calling all Zen Gurus - Help!!]
    Thanks in advance!

OK - I'v figured out how to get the switch woking now. I'll post it here in case any one else has the same problem.
) Get a flat headed screwdriver and slide it under the slide switch, but only lift it up by like mm.
    2) With your fingernail slide the switch along to the "Lock" switch posotion. if you can now slide it back and the ZEN responds you've done it.
What had happened is the part you slide had dis-engaged from the switch inside the zen.Message Edited by cjnewbs on 05-3-2006 05:24 AM

  • Zen stops at 85-107 so

Okay then, I am planning to contact Customer support by email exactly after this, but, first things first
Note: I have a Zen V plus 4gb Black model?
I got my zen out of ebay, and so the warranty has most likely expired, anyway...
So I start downloading my music onto the mp3 and it stops at 90-something, so I check around, I exhaust my known recourses: Rebuilding library fails, formatted, but problem recoured, upgraded firmware, problem pursists, I have tried using sync manager, the software on the cd, basically every known way I know to put music on there fails (even drag and drop, that got me to 07) I have done both Vista (laptop) and an Xp machine, and it is neither of those two os' fault.
I then have to reformat it to get it to show that it has 0 songs, also, it freezes when it fails on windows explorer as well.
Anyone any suggestions? Unless I am mistaken, the recovery mode thing says V..5.0 I have downloaded Firmware: .32.0 and I am at a loss at what to do next (except contacting customer support)

There is a good chance your hard dri've is dead. This same thing happened to me. Get away from all noise, turn it on and listen. Making any funny sounds, sort of a clicking, like the sound of a fried dri've? You can pick one up on ebay for around $50 shipped and replace it. Gutting it isn't to hard but you need to be gentle, there is one step that you could easily break one of those stupid thin flex cables. Here's a link to an ebay store and a tear-a-part guide: its for the micro but almost identical inside apart from the screen.

  • Zen micro software probl

Hi I just bought a zen micro the other day I hooked it up to my PC and installed the software and it worked fine the I went to the creative site and updated the firmware but didnt realise that it would stop me from being able to use creatives programs and only let me use windows media player I scanned through the forum and found this to be a common problem and the main solution was to down grade the firmware which I tried to do but when I tried it was coming up player not connected.
What do I do I hate media player can anyone help PLEASE

Hi tried all those options but managed to downgrade the firmware by deleting the drivers on the pc and the pluging the zen back in and as the pc started detecting it and installing it I ran the firmware program so it just started as the unit was fully installed as the creative zen and not what windows identifies it as and it worked hope that made sense because at that point i was just trying anything.
    Thanks again for the help.
P.S dont know if any one knows but I bought my Zen out of the county and it has the wrong pin plug bit now I know it will work voltage wise but it would be nice to get the right pin adapter as they are interchangable.

  • Zen micro 're-building library' er

I was listening to my zen micro one day in the travel dock, I went to skip a song, and it froze. Then re-building library popped up and hasn't stopped since! I've taken the battery out, and have tried hooking it up to the computer, and nothing has worked. Has this happened to anyone? If so, how do you fix it's

    Same thing here....
I'll include some details in case anyone in Creative is interested:
Bought a TravelDock about 5 months ago. Since then used it at the office with my Zen Micro in it. At the end of the day I would turn off the whole thing, unplug it from the wall and leave it (with Zen Micro still in) put away until the next day. Whenever I travelled I would take the Zen out of the TravelDock and bring it with me to use with earphones.
After about 3 months my Zen Micro would not power off when I pressed and held the TravelDock's remote as instructed in the manual. The message "Shutting down..." would appear but the display never turned off. I had to take the battery out and replace it for the unit to turn off and rebuild the library. After that it would work fine...but when it came time to turn the TravelDock off I would get the "Shutting down..." deal most of the time. So I've been having to pull the battery out and back in again on most days after using my Zen Micro in the TravelDock.
One day (3 days ago) I brought the Zen+TravelDock home with me to sync some songs I had on my home PC so I could take them with me cause I was going to travel the next day. Synced fine. Unplugged it from the PC and put my headphones in to listen to some music while I was preparing for my trip. When I slid the power I just got "HARDWARE PROBLEM" and haven't been able to access any functions on my Zen since...
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Pavel G.
