Zip split to multiple volumes

Ive been looking for information about zipping files and splitting the zip file to multiple volumes of a fixed size. I havent found any information regarding this topic. Anyone has any ideas of how to do this? Is this intended to be done at the programmer`s risk? Is the programmer to follow any standards regarding to zip files? Does the java api provide any support to splitting data to multiple volumes of a fixed size?

If zipping is under your control, you can use bzip2 libraries to zip them. Then, bzip2recover tool can be used to split the big zip file into smaller chunks at client side (900k by default).

I used it on a 3.5GB zip file and it worked very well. But of course, the zipping also has to be done using bzip2

  • How can i create a zip-file with multiple volumes

    Hi,
i've to zip a large file (250 MB and more). But the zip file shouldn't be greater than 5 MB, because i have to send the file via E-Mail. So i've thought, that the solution of this problem can be to zip the large file in smaller zip-files, which are multiple volumes of a zip-archive. I've searched very long in WWW, but didn't find something. Perhaps you can help.
Sorry, about the bad english. :-)

    Hi
Who said your english is bad ?. OK, are you looking for compressing the 250 MB file in to multiple versions using a java program ?. If not, there is a shareware you can download and split the file into multiple parts by specifying size of each part. You can send these parts via email and the other person can combine these parts into a single file again.

  • HT201250 Can I back up multiple volumes using Time Machine on Snow Leopard?

I have a fault with my time machine software where it is no longer able to perform incremental back ups of the volumes (partitions) I have created on my internal hard drive - every attempt results in a full back up. However incremental back up of the Mac HD is working. I have had it working perfectly in the past. I'm backing up to a dedicated external hard drive.
I have just been told by an apple support manager that Time machine on OS 10.6.8 is not designed to back up multiple volumes (partitions) on my internal hard drive, only the current Mac HD drive - is this correct? He said it shouldn't be backing up the other volumes and the reason it is doing so and has done so in the past is because of bug!
Surely this is not the case?

I would read and try this.  Pondini is very knowledgeable about Time Machine:

  • Can I have multiple volume levels in one track?

I have a track composed of audio from a cassette recorder of a now deceased relative's voice.
Since the cassette was turned on and off during recording, the recordings are at different volumes.
I have been able to import the cassette into a GarageBand project, and delete dead space, but now I find that the volume is not consistent.
Any way to remedy that? I am wondering if I need to chop it up and make more than one track, and adjust the volume on each track? Will this work as long as the tracks don't overlap?
And then do I send the finished product to iTunes in order to be able to use it in an iMovie?
Or can I drag it right from GarageBand to iMovie?
Many thanks, I'm a very new GarageBand user.

  • Messages with zip files or multiple attachments are not being delivered

Has anyone else come across this? I've discovered that files sent from my .mac account are not being delivered if they contain zip files or multiple attachment. A single .docx file goes through, but multiple doc files or a single zip file do not.
I get no error message, and neither does the recipient. The message sends on my end but simply doesn't show up on their end.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Another follow-up: Now, for whatever reason, even attachments of a single document aren't going through.
Again, I'm receiving no error message, and it shows up in my sent folder. It just never makes it to the recipient.
This is very frustrating, and makes my iCloud mail account all but useless. Does anyone have any idea at all what might be happening?

  • BPM Process split, Or Split, Conditional, Multiple Gatways

    Hi
I am New to this. Please explain what are these and when we use these (split, Or Split, Conditional, Multiple ) when developing a BPM Process. Also where we define rules in BPM

The Studio documentation might help a little (download it from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html -> click "PDF" beside the "BPM Studio Guide" link).
At a high level, the Split activity speeds the process by allowing multiple parallel processing of an instance.
The Or Split activity is similar to a Split but the Conditional transitions create the copies going through the circuit. Only if all of the Conditional transitions are false is the one Unconditional transition taken.
The Multiple activity allows any number of instances to be created from a single instance using logic hit at runtime. This is useful in processes that must solicit information from a number of different sources and these sources may not be known until runtime (for example, collecting bids from multiple suppliers). Only one outgoing transition is allowed from a Mulitple activity. A Subflow activity is often used after a Mulitple, which enables you to send the copied instances to multiple processes depending upon the information you need to retrieve.
All three of these must be paired with a Join activity. The Join activity rejoins the copies of the replicated instances with the original parent instance after they have completed the Split, Or Split or Multiple circuit
The "Conditional" activity is similar to the traditional decision diamond that has been drawn on flow charts for years. Unlike the Split, Multiple and Or Split activities described above, the Conditional only has one instance flowing out of it via one transition at runtime. Typically in the process's design you might have a Conditional activity with an unconditional transition going to an activity downstream and a conditional transition going to another activity downstream. At runtime when the work item instance reaches the Conditional activity the work item instance either flows through the conditional transition (if it evaluates as true) or else the unconditional transition if the conditional transition evaluated as false.
The key thing to remember is that coming out of a Conditional activity, the work item instance can only exit via one transition (one path). This is the different when work item instances leave a Split, Or Split or a Multiple activity. For these three gateway activities, copies of the work item instance can flow out of these activities via several paths concurrently.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Why does a mail-merge in MS Publisher split into multiple files when printed as a pdf file?

Why does a mail-merge in MS Publisher split into multiple files when printed as a pdf file?

'Cuz that's what mail merges do.  They create multiple documents based on the parent doc and all the names/addresses in your data tables.
Perhaps if you describe exactly what you're trying to do & why you need PDF, we can point you to relevant tutorials.

  • Can I split to multiple monitors?

I just bought a Mac Mini and I want to split out to multiple monitors.
Preferably I want to go out with a VGA and DVI or 2 VGA's if possible. Can it split to multiple monitors?
I am trying using a presentation program to send the signal to multiple wall monitors. Kinda like a hotel with the convention monitors...
    Thanks for any help!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The new Mac mini has two video ports and supports using two displays at once. There is a mini-DisplayPort and an HDMI port. You will need the appropriate adapters for the two ports to convert the signals to either DVI or VGA. Apple and a number of 3rd party venders sell these adapters.

  • Duplicate file detection and removal across multiple volumes?

    hello there
i use decloner, for duplicate file removal.. it works great for removing duplicates on the same volume, unfortunately, i have a mac pro with multiple hdds and want to run a duplicate search which includes every hard drive, which decloner doesn't seem to do. (some of my hard drives have identical folders and files)
can anyone recommend me a piece of software that does duplicate removal across multiple volumes?
    many thanks!

  • Spreading your Aperture Library across multiple volumes/drives/disks

I recall reading posts elsewhere by others (on an Adobe Lightroom forum) on how one's Aperture Library had to sit on one volume, meaning that it could not span multiple disks. At the time I figured I would be fine for a while since I had about 150 GB of free space on my main disk, yet kept the topic at the back of my mind.
Today, as I do regularly, I was backing up my (Aperture) library to my iPod, (not through the "vault" mechanism but simply using Finder,) when I noticed it was copying (many) individual files, rather than one large file! Being familiar with Unix, including how certain items in Mac OSX are treated, such as "Applications" that appear to be one object in the GUI, yet are merely a folder structure behind the scene, it occurred to me that the Aperture Library, rather than being some sort of single-file database format, just might be a folder instead.
I checked, and it is. Mind you, that doesn't prevent Aperture from keeping proprietary files within those folders, however, it would seem to me that one could easily use symbolic links to throw some of the files, perhaps at the project level, onto other disks, and thus span your library across multiple volumes even if Aperture does not yet offer or manage this ability.

I have loaded my Firefox bookmarks into Internet Explorer Favorited. I also uninstalled Safari.
I go to iTunes on my phone and see no wat to connect my iPhone to my laptop. I see Music, Shows, etc., the kind of stuff I would expect, but no clue as to how to proceed.
Would you please be so kind to fill me in on how to "That syncing is done via iTunes. Connect the device to iTunes, select it, then go to the Summary page and select to sync bookmarks."?

  • Ufsdump and ufsrestore with multiple volumes

How to ufsdump and ufsrestore with multiple volumes?
I want to backup and restore a large directory with ufsdump and

After backuping tape 1, I press the eject button of the tape drive to
eject the button, then I insert a second tape and type "yes" to
    continue.

After tape 1 in finished restoring, I eject the tape and insert the
    second tape.
Now what should I do to continue tape restoring?

I don't think that you're supposed to type in the number "2". What ufsrestore is looking for is the next ufsrestore volume, not the volume number. If it is a tape drive, which this apears to be, you specify the tape drive device: dev/rmt/0cn.

  • Tar and multiple volumes

    Guys,
I am using a SunOS 5.7 Generic_106541-09 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise, and when I try to copy files into a tape with "tar", I receive a message "unexpected EOF".
In other Unix, is possible to use the option "-e" (tar -cvfe) for using multiple volumes. What can I do with Solaris?

    Hi Frank,
as usual in case of such rather wide range question the correct answer is: it depends.
It depends with version of SAP DB/MaxDB you're using.
It also depends if a HASH JOIN is employed for this join (depends on data volume and db parameter setup -  OK for this join it's rather unlikely).
It's furthermore dependent on the configuration of parallel join feature and the availability of server tasks for this. As only one session at a time can use parallel join the very same statement may be handled in parallel one time and "serial" the other time.
So in the best case (no other query running parallel join) the join will be handled in parallel.
In the worst case, the query (logical I/O) will be done serial but nevertheless: we're still doing asynchronous I/O over striped datavolumes. So whenever a page is not in the cache the session won't block to wait until the I/O is done.
A deeper insight can be gained by attending the MaxDB Internals training offered by SAP. In that training many topics are covered in-depth, including the effects of database parameters and how (some) statements are processed.
    Hope that helps a bit,
    Lars

  • Single Class Split Over multiple non-consecutive Days??

How do I setup in OLM  a class split over multiple days for Example:
I have a Diversity Awareness Course and Offering. The Class is 2 days long, but not on consecutive days, they are a week apart.
Do I create a Day1 Class and Day2 class under the same course and make it a prerequisite to attend day 1?
From a reporting point of view this now shows as 2 classes when it is only 1; inflating the class figures.
Or Can I split it into 2 sessions under the same class?
What is the best way to do this?

    Hi!
You can create a Class with two Sessions underneath it (one for each day).  Make the Start Date for the Class the day the Class begins and set the End Date to correspond to the last day.  Your Duration should be set to 2 Days.  Learners will be able to view details for each session, and you can assign different instructors and rooms for each day if you use Resource Bookings in OLM.
