My iPhone 4S will not sync to iTunes. I've download the newest version of iTunes several times but when plugging my phone in it says "The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later." HELP!
If you're using Windows try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall the latest version of iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

When connecting my iPhone I get the following message "The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.1 or later. What does this mean? My computer has 10.4.
That's an issue with your system. Try removing the iTunes and the other APPLE software related from your system and reinstall it again.

Follow this if you're using VISTA/7: support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

This is getting so frustrating, I last synced my iphone in september and it worked fine, as i've just imported a new cd I wanted to sync to get it on my phone - anybody help to get a more uptodate software on my iphone, please
iTunes runs on your computer, not your phone. Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer. If you're using a Mac, and running OS X 10.5, you will need to upgrade OS X first.

I just plugged my iPhone into my Mac. I got this pop up - The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes. I went to the address and updated my Mac but the pop up still comes up - I can't find out if they mean my iPhone needs to be updated or how to update it if that is the case.
Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:
Apple: iTunes 11.1.1

IPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later
I have a user who is trying to use her iPhone 3 with her MacBook Pro. She is running Lion and has the latest version of iTunes installed (version 11.0 or whatever the new one is). When she plugs her phone into her computer a message pops up on her computer screen:
"The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
We have ensure that all the software on her computer is up to date and this still keeps popping up. Please help!
Thanks!Restart the Mac and try again.
You can always re download iTunes here > Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
No need to uninstall the currently installed copy of iTunes before doing so.
The latest version of iTunes available is v11.0.4
With iTunes open, from the menu bar click iTunes > About iTunes
That will tell you the currently installled version. -
The iPhone **** cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later - I get this error message yet I have 10.6.4, how can I get itunes to recognise my phone
You must be referring to OS X 10.6.4, because there is no iTunes version 10.6.4. You can download iTunes 10.6.3 here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575
Any reason why you have not updated to OS X 10.6.8? If you did, you could then run iTunes 11.0.1. -
Installed iTunes 11 64 bit now get "The iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes." Uninstalled and installed twice no help. windows 7 64 bit, iPhone 5 OS 5.1
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
when i connect my phone to itunes it saysThe iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later and i just downloaded the latest version
Julie, there seems to be some snafu with the updater, so go here https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575 and get the download directly. That should do the trick.

The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
I just purchased the iphone 4S and want to connect to itunes to move my backup onto the new phone but when I plug the new one in it says - The iPhone "iphone" cannot be used because it requires itunes version 10.5 or later. The iphone 4S has the latest everthing??? Why am I not able to connect to itunes?
My MAC is app. 2yrs old.You need to update your version of iTunes. Ios5 is only supported by iTunes 10.5 meaning, an older version of iTunes is not compatible. You can download the newest version free via iTunes or apple .com but I would recommend going to the top left cornner of you screen, click the apple and choose "software update". iTunes 10.5 was an update that came out earlier this week and by doing this you can see if any thing else needs updating and it will do it automatically.

I cant' sync my ipod because it says"The iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later. I can't download it because my MAC is version 10.5.8 and it won't accept the newer version of itunes. Any suggestions?
If you're using a fourth generation or earlier iPod touch, click here and download the software.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and an Intel Mac, buy Mac OS X 10.6 from the online Apple Store and run Software Update.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and a PowerPC Mac, buy a newer computer.

the iphone cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started how do i fix this
Is this a Windows error? If so, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. If you do, try reinstalling iTunes. If that doesn't work, try manually starting the service.
