Wireless connection to Kindle

I had a spanking new Kindle for my birthday. It connects to 3G OK, except in my home where we do not receive 3G, and to wifi hubs outside my home. My home network is working fine, but when I select it on the Kindle , and enter its password, the response is "password invalid". I was over 5 hours on the phone to BT, NetGear ( my router supplier ) and Amazon yesterday, but no one was prepared to take responsibility. BT were, frankly, hopeless. There must be an answer to this but it did not happen yesterday. Can anyone help please?

Hi Peter, have alook at this post:
http://communi ty.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/Registering-a-new-kindle-with-my-Home-Hub/m-p/159351#M2963
It states that you have to input the wireless key in as the password, is that what you were doing.
That would be for the HHub, but might also apply to the Netgear.

  • I have an Airport Extreme wireless router & I can not connect my Kindle.

I have an Airport Extreme wireless router & I can not connect my Kindle.  Also, my password will not work when a visitor uses it for a laptop (even a Mac) or any other device that uses the internet.  It says the password is incorrect.  I easily connected a Kindle last year, but I got a new one & now I can not connect wirelessly.  I see no tab to create a guest network.  I do not mind giving my password to visitors, but that does not work.

If you temporarily disable wireless encryption on your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), can the Kindle connect to the router and gain access to the Internet now? If so, then I would suggest that you reconfigure the AEBSn to use "WPA2 Personal" for the Wireless Security setting, and then, try connecting with the Kindle again.
As far as establishing a Guest Network, the AEBSn must not be in bridge mode. That is, it should be the only router in your current network and directly conncted to the Internet modem. If it is, then you would find the Guest Networking option on the AirPort > Guest Networking tab:

  • Wireless Printing with Kindle Fire can't connect to HP1102w

Hi I can't connect mt Kindle Fire to my HP1102w  through HPeprint

    Hello DannyD219,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
It appears that you are unable to ePrint from the Kindle Fire to the LaserJet P1102w. I would like to offer a few suggestions that may help.
The P1102w is only compatible with ePrint after a firmware update, using a Windows computer and a USB cable, check for updates for the printer: HP LaserJet P1102w Firmware Update Utility.
Here is the guide for setting up an ePrint account: Getting Started with ePrint. (ignore steps 2 & 3, they are covered above)
For more or information on printing from a Kindle to the P1102w, view this: Printing from Kindle.
I hope this is a helping start.

  • HP Officejet 6500A Plus will not maintain wireless connection reliably

For the HP EXPERTS on Expert Day, April 18, 2012:
B.L.A.T. (Bottom Line At Top):  We have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus purchased about 5 months ago.  We wanted to use it as a wireless-connected printer in another room besides our home office.  It is useless to us because it will not maintain its wireless connection, even sitting just a few feet from the router in the same room.  Except for numerous hours of troubleshooting, we have left it sitting powered up, but unused and idle, for almost the entire 5 months in our home office.  DURING ALL THAT IDLE TIME, IT HAS LOGGED OVER 3,200 DISCONNECTS, at a consistent rate of 24 disconnects every 24 hours, even though it ALWAYS reports that the wireless signal quality is “EXCELLENT” (all this is according to the Wireless Network Test Reports we’ve printed throughout the last 5 months).  So our question is, what is it that this printer is trying to do once an hour over a wireless connection that is causing these thousands of disconnects?  And how can we stop it?
NOTE!  Before you round up the usual suspects (namely our router and our PC firewalls) please note that we also bought an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus ON THE SAME DAY as the Officejet 6500A Plus.  The 8600 was also installed with a wireless connection, and has worked without a single network issue for the entire 5 months.
NOW, FOR THE REST OF THE STORY…
WHO WE ARE:  My wife and I have worked on HP equipment for 33 years, starting in 1979 as corporate customers of HP when we worked for Exxon; then we both worked for HP directly for 17 years; and we’ve now used dozens of pieces of HP equipment in our home during the last 12 years in retirement.  We’re primarily software folks, so we’re not exactly experts in hardware and networking, but on the other hand, this ain’t our first rodeo either.
    OUR CONFIGURATION:
PC’s – All running Windows 7 x64 with all important patches applied and Norton Internet Security 2012:  HPE-270f and HP AIO 200-Quad, each with full 6500A and 8600A drivers installed on wireless connection.  These 2 PC’s themselves can connect either wirelessly or via Ethernet to our home network.  The 270f has a dual-band wireless board.  Both bands work.  We also have a new dv7t laptop with only the full 6500A driver installed via wireless connection.  The laptop is now upstairs and it’s connected to our home network wirelessly without any issues.  (This is where we had hoped to also put the 6500A, but it needs to work reliably via wireless connection.)
ROUTER:  Netgear N600 WNDR3700 providing Ethernet and wireless networking.  Router provides a very strong wireless signal throughout the house.  No wireless problems with any other equipment including an iPod, two Kindle Fires besides all the HP equipment.
PRINTERS:  Besides the two HP printers, the HPE-270f PC has a Canon MP960 installed on it.  And if we can’t get the 6500A working right or replaced with something that does work right, we may be buying our second Canon printer.  By the way, on the 6500A, ePrint and App’s are set to ON, but of course they’re not being used, just like everything else on this AIO.
OTHER:  We also have a Sonos music system that connects to our network via Ethernet and has its own proprietary mesh network (on another frequency) for transmitting ripped music wirelessly to speaker units throughout our house.  (If you aren’t familiar with this totally cool system, check out sonos.com).  We’ve never seen any evidence of interference between these two wireless networks, or our wireless phone sets either.
HP TOOLS AVAILABLE ON ALL 3 PC’s:  HPU
    UPDATE 5.003.001.001 (reporting everything up-to-date); HPHDU 3.1.0.17; HPPDU 5.0.0.015 and HPNDU 4.3.0.002.
SYMPTOMS:  The 6500A Plus installs quickly and easliy, and connects wirelessly just fine during installation.  But sometime over the next hour (usually less), it disconnects and won’t print from PC applications.  Sometimes the application puts up an “Unable to communicate with printer” screen, even though the PC usually thinks the printer is “ready”.  Other times, the PC thinks the printer is offline (but printers don’t have “offline” buttons anymore!).  Often, if you just leave everything alone, the 6500A will somehow reconnect and print out the spooled file 5-30 MINUTES later.  So it does usually seem to be able to recover given some time, but that doesn’t always fit our schedule!   Occasionally, turning the wireless radio on the printer off and back on will fix it right away.  But usually, you have to power the printer completely off, and then back on.  As far as we know, that always fixes it…..until the next disconnect a few minutes later!
PREVIOUSLY TRIED:  After reading some of HP’s wireless network support websites, I manually assigned a fixed IP address to this printer.  It didn’t seem to matter; according to the wireless network test report, it still logs disconnects at the rate of one per hour, and all the failure symptoms were the same.
We also dabbled a bit with setting this printer as “trusted” to the Firewall, but that didn’t seem to matter either.
Next, we connected the printer via Ethernet.  The printer immediately started to work, even though it had just been in its “failed” state over the wireless connection.  As far as we know, it never failed while connected via Ethernet.  This seems to point to a purely wireless hardware/firmware problem on the printer itself.
Late last year, I tried two different chat sessions about this with the inter-continental AIO support teams, each one lasting several hours.  Unfortunately, none of their optimistic solution scripts seemed to fit our problem.  They both seemed determined to reconfigure the 6500A as a TCP/IP printer, which of course worked fine initially, just like everything else.  At this point, they would understandably want to close the chat.  But 20-30 minutes later, we could no longer print to it.  During the second chat, they got into one of our PC’s remotely and effectively turned off the spooler (by selecting “Print Directly” or something like that).  After that, all was well again (as usual) UNTIL the printer disconnected, at which time attempting to print from that PC would HANG the application (since the spooler was no longer buffering) and eventually hang the whole PC.  One giant leap backwards.  That’s when I gave up on the multi-hour chat sessions.
The three diagnostic utilities (HDU, PDU, NDU) have been tried over and over.  When the printer is in its disconnected state, the DU’s usually don’t detect the 6500A at all, or if they do detect it, they are unable to fix anything.  Frankly, it’s easier to just power the printer off (which takes about a minute) and power the printer back on (which takes more than a minute) and then wait for the spooler to kick in (usually about 30 seconds).  BUT WE DON’T CONSIDER THAT A SOLUTION!!
B.L.A.B.  (Bottom Line At Bottom):  We have used up nearly the entire black ink cartridge and at least a ream of paper troubleshooting this brand new printer, to no avail.  This printer is useless to us unless it can maintain a wireless connection reliably.  Please help!
    Thanks –
    Bob and Jane
(Note: we have an appointment from about 11:20 am EDT – 1 pm EDT, 8:20 am PDT till about 10 am PDT)

I bought the Officejet 6500A Plus about one month and have experienced the very same problem. I tried to remedy this problem following suggestions in a number of different posts (static IP, router, firewalls etc), all to no avail. Last week I called support. The support I received by the tech over several hours and different days for a week was very good. However none of his suggestions corrected the connection issue. After today's recommended fix failed, he advised HP is aware of this issue with the 6500 and other affected printers. He claimed HP was working on a firmware upgrade. He did not know when the update would be provided. The tech also claimed HP acknowledged this problem in a written announcement. He agreed to email the announcement to me. I haven't received it. This has been the only problem I've had with the 6500

  • How do I add a whitelist on AirPort Utility to connect a Kindle Fire?

All of a sudden my daughter's Kindle Fire says it has no wireless connection even though I have the name and password entered correctly. Is this some type of update on the Kindle side? The Kindle tells me (when I tap on the connected wifi name for my computer) signal strength is excellent, status is connected, shows my security with a WPA and additional codes. I have been reading that there is a whitelist I can add devices too but am so illiterate on my MAC that I cannot find it or where to go...my apologies. What do I/ should I do? I am confused as to why I see the Kindle and my computer are connected to wifi but then I receive an error message. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

There isn't a whitelist, per se, on the AirPort routers. Instead there is a means to prevent a wireless device from accessing the AirPort by its hardware MAC address. Unless you have enabled this feature, via the AirPort Utility, all wireless devices should be able to connect.
One area to look at as a possible cause, is the Network Name (aka SSID) that you are using for your AirPort's Wi-Fi network. If it contains special characters or spaces, you may want to consider changing it to something that has neither to see if this helps.

  • Every time my IMAC is unused for a period, then goes to sleep mode, it loses it's wireless connection and when I wake it up, it DOES NOT automatically reconnect. I have to go to systme preferences network and request that it reconnect.

My iMac is set up wireless.  Everytime it's allowed to go in sleep mode, it loses wireless connectivity.  Then, when I wake it up,  I must go to System preferences,  Network,  and request it to reconnect to my home wireless network.   It always does this successfully, but it's quite annoying that it seems unable to achieve this on it's own.  My iPad 2 and kindle can do this,  why not my iMac?

This appears to be a known issue, there are a couple of things both of you should do, first file a bug report in www.apple.com/feedback.
The next thing is more a work around than a fix. Instead of putting your computer to sleep just put the display to sleep. You will find this in System Preferences - Energy Saver. Set the computer sleep to Never and then set the display sleep to what ever time you prefer.

Anyone else having trouble connecting their Kindle Fire to your iphone 4 hotspot?  Please help me if you have any idea what I am doing wrong.

        Happy day to you misterf,
What better networkk to enjoy your Kindle Fire on than the largest, most reliable wireless network, Verizon Wireless. I know that you are super excited to download the latest books and periodicals on your Fire. I am honored to be the one to assist you with connecting to your iPhone 4 mobile hotspot. May I ask have you use the hotspot in the past on other devices? If so then here's a link on how to connect the Kindle Fire.

  • Wireless connectivity on PC boot up

I’m getting wireless connectivity problems between my PC and the BTHub3.
After booting the computer I find I have no connectivity at all. The message I receive when attempting to manually connect is ‘The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network’
This hasn’t always been the case. The issue seems to have started within the last month. Normally connectivity would be made almost instantly. Frustratingly, I can instantly connect to other (unsecured) BT networks in the neighbourhood. Other local networks (secured and unsecured) even appear to have a stronger signal than that from my router, if the number of bars are to be believed.
I am using a Linksys wireless adapter. Settings for security are WPA2 Personal and Encryption type AES.
    I have systematically tried
    -          deleting and recreating profiles
    -          re-entering passwords
    -          rebooting the Hub
    -          rebooting the PC
    -          changing channels
    -          changing the BT hub ( new hub, vanilla settings)
Nothing appears to make an impact. If I wait anything between half an hour to an hour eventually everything connects even if I have not touched a single setting. Usually I sit playing solitaire until I connect. So Settings appear to be an issue initially but this issue goes away ???
Initially I believed it was a PC/PC adapter issue. But I took a look at the connectivity on my Blackberry and also my Kindle – same issue. So I now believe that something is not set correctly in the router (or unbelievably two routers have failed).
But where to look – Suggestions?

If it supports PPPoE, and has a WAN port, or the facility to map one ot its LAN ports, then you could use it.
It may also be possible to use the device as a wireless access port.
I am moving this to the Infinity board, as you have an Infinity and not an ADSL connection.

  • Often lose wireless connection when using HDTV as monitor

I have an unusual wireless networking problem when using my Samsung HDTV in my living room as a monitor for my MacBook (when watching Internet TV shows, for example). Frequently when I switch URLs, networking freezes, even though the connection appears strong, with the Airport symbol at the top of my screen showing all bars. To re-establish the wireless connection, I have to go through the process of re-joining my network through the “Join Other Network" option. The signal holds as long as I don’t try to change it, as in selecting another URL.
I connect to my HDTV via HDMI cable, using a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter from my Macbook’s video-out port. The audio connection is a mini-plug from the Mac’s headphone out jack to stereo RCA plugs associated with the TV’s HDMI port.
The wireless connection is through a Lynksys Wireless-G 2.4 Ghz, 54 Mpbs Broadband router.
I’d appreciate any solutions the Apple user community has to offer.

I'd say this has nothing to do with your display. The problem will likely lie in either your router settings, network settings or a simple signal strength issue. Try first changing the broadcast channel on your router, and make sure all settings are correct for your desired network.

  • Can't configure Wireless Connection to HP OfficeJet Pro L7780

I recently purchased both my iMac 24" 2.8GHz computer with OS x 10.5.2 and HP OfficeJet Pro L7780. I was able to use the HP setup CDs for my Windows laptops and configured them to use the printer in a wireless configuration.
The iMac is creating the headache (actually I think it's HP causing the headache). When I try to install HP's driver 9.7.1 using their utility, it is unable to detect the L7780 in a wireless configuration. The moment I connect via USB or wired Ethernet, the printer is detected without a problem. My printer is located @ 192.168.1.30, fixed IP address via a NetGear FSW308 switch. My iMac is fixed @ 192.168.1.100 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1
I spent hours on the phone with HP support and am still in the same spot... HP software won't find the printer when it is wireless. I can configure OS x 10.5.2 to use the internal L7700 series driver and put the IP address in the dialog box. The printer prints without issue using the OS printer drivers, but the other features such as scan and fax will not work without the HP software.
I can ping the printer and I can connect to the printer's EWS, but the HP software will not find the software.
Overall config: iMac wireless network connection to switch; Printer also wireless connection to switch.
So far HP is dumbfounded and all they can say is that I should call Apple because the printer software works fine when I connect the Ethernet or USB cables.
    HELP!
    Thanks,
    Roland

Thank you for the thought. Yes, although my SSID is public, I have a WEP 128-bit security key. The printer, the iMac and my Windows laptops all connect to the wireless network without issue, as evidenced by my Windows laptops and iMac (if I use the driver included with OS X 10.5.2).
I can ping the printer from the iMac as well as connect to the printer's web interface, so connectivity exists. It is as if the setup software or the printer are trying to communicate using a port that or service that OS X may be blocking.
My OS X firewall is configured to accept all connections though... so that shouldn't be the issue unless there is a bug in accepting all connections.
    Thanks,
    Roland

  • I get wireless connection but my internet does not work on my ipad 2

I get wireless connection but my internet does not work on my ipad 2

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Wireless connection not working after installed newest Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update programs

    Hi, everyone!
I've installed some newest programs through Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update and just after that my wireless connection has stopped working. Here are the installed programs:

_Maybe_  your situation is the same.
The fix in all 3 cases was to go to device manager and uninstall the wifi driver.  Then scan for hardware changes and let it reinstall the driver.  Something about how Access Connections or some other networking mangement thingy was hooking the drivers I guess.
On both of the friend's machines, the wired networking was also b0rked.  Same fix there.

    Hi there,
my printer cannot find any wireless connection available.
and the blue light on the wifi icon is blinking.
how do I solve this problem so i can print again?

The blue wireless light flashing means you are not connected to your routers SSID.  You need to go back and connect to your routers SSID with it's password to get the light on solid.
