The oms and omr are both on the same solaris9 64bit server. The version of GC is 10.2.0.1 running on a 10.1.0.5 db.

10.1.3.0 install on solaris em url fails and name resolution fails

I wondered if anybody would know this. I installed 10.1.3.0 app server on solaris and my hosts file is ok I can resolve mymachine.domain.com. The install is a clean 10.1.3.0 install. I have the 9.2.0.7 db installed elsewhere on the box.
Opmnctl tells me that my oc4j and http instances are alive (home) and i can get to the first http page.
http://<ipaddress>:7777
with no problems but when i click on the link on the rhs redirection to the http://<ipaddress>:7777/em url fails so i cannot get the console up.
Question is why is the em not responsiong but it appears to be running and installed ok.
Question 2 is why does the em link resolve to localhost when i go to the em.
Hosts file looks ok and seems to resolve with ping. Machine is on network but not in any dns.
Has anybody got any suggestions? There is absolutely 0 error messages in the logfiles.
I have installed other servers in the past without any issues at all at other places on other machines.
ThanksIf you check the logs of ons, you can check which IP opmn is bound to. This might end up being localhost, instead of public. This might have to do something with this EM issue. By adding <ipaddr request="$PUBLIC_IP" remote="$PUBLIC_IP" /> to opmn.xml this can be solved (please do check the documentation for the exact syntax!!!!)
Could you also check what servername is defined in your httpd.conf, this might have something to do with the resolving thing (also check useCaconicalName parameter) -
I am trying to apply a Solaris 10 upgrade release to my E450 server, but get the following error during the install process:
"Could not reinitialize system state, please exit installer and try again"
Retrying the upgrade gives the same error.
The current release on the server is 10 1/06 and I am trying to move this on to 10 11/06.
Anyone got any idea what it is complaining about, the upgrade process worked OK on my V480/V490 servers!.Obviously Sun (excuse me, Oracle) does not intend to support the solaris-10/sparc/firefox-3.6 combination. Firefox 3.6 requires the NPAPI and/or NPRuntime interfaces to java, but oracle does not provide the new "libnpjp2.so" java plugin with the jre-6u18-sparc-solaris java download.
A search at www.oracle.com does not turn up any support announcement about this. You have to learn it the hard way. :(
If you want to continue to use sparc-solaris, downgrade to firefox-3.5 so you can use the old libjavaplugin_oji.so module. Otherwise run Linux or Mac OS X to stay in the unix camp. -

trying to install OSB (Oracle Service Bus) and it asks about the OEPE Install location and gave an error.
INST-07246 -- Enter a Valid value for OEPE Home location..
We have NOT installed OEPE, because it is NOT available for the version and the platform we have.
The OTN doc says as below:

Installing the just released 10.2.0.2 agent on Solaris Sparc
Anyone tried installing the new 10.2.0.2 agent on Solaris Sparc? (Solaris 9). After the agent installs the config fails and I found a bunch of binaries (like emagent) are zero length.

Since you all have already gone through upgrade process from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2,
I need help doing the same.
We have 10.2.0.1 Grid Control installed in test env (solaris 5.9 Sparc), and I am planning to upgrade it to 10.2.0.2.
My question is, when we shut down OMS to apply 10.2.0.2 patch, what happens to the agents? they will not be able to upload the stats, and may get inactive after reaching the disk usage limit.
Also, when we complete the upgrade patch, when OMS comes up, can the 10.2.0.1 agent still talk to the 10.2.0.2 OMS? I am asking this from the logistical point of view. We have 15 servers, and it may be couple of days, before all agents can be upgraded. In that scenario, I wish to keep the Grid Control available for testing barring the agents under upgrade.
We havenot turned on the automatic patch management, and tempted to use the Method 2 of 4.1.2.1 item of the Readme document of the patch.
What were you experiences? and any advices? -

SpiritI'm not sure with the solaris sparc 64.
but the most common problem with Linux x86_64 which I assume probably similar. that type of error caused by
you have to install glibc-devel-32 bit and libstdc++-devel 32 bit together with your 64 bit. both libraries required by the Oracle to solve the linking problem.

I've seen a few posts with similar errors. I've also tried using WebLogic 10.3.2 as some of the posts have suggested, yet I'm getting the same errors.
I know during the GC install it states SLES11 is not "certified". Could this be the reason?
Should I try GC10g, or use RHEL to get this product to work?

OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) disk2 download failed
I am trying to download OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) from below link but disk 2 download failed after 80% with a error saying connection to server closed. I tried it couple of times with different browsers even from different machine but still same error. Disk 1 downloaded successfully but disk2 always failed right at 80% after 2.4 GB downloaded. It makes me belive that it is a problem related to source file or server. Anyone has similar experience and know how to get it solved?

I'm doing fresh install for solaris u8.
Facing the following issue while unpacking sparc.miniroot (i.e. cpio from DVD).

I later came to realize that 'root_archive' is just a script. So I went through it and run the steps individually to unpack and it worked for me. This is what i did
lofiadm -a /opt/JumpStart/cd0/boot/sparc.miniroot
/usr/sbin/mount -o ro,nologging /dev/lofi/1 /mnt
\rm rf /opt/JumpStart/miniroot
mkdir /opt/JumpStart/miniroot
cd /mnt
find . -print | cpio -pudm /opt/JumpStart/miniroot
cd /
umount f /mnt
lofiadm d /dev/lofi/1As I mounted the fs as read only I could just umount it with '-f' and get away. Interestingly the root_archive script failed while doing a umount after it unpacks. Wonder what issue it sees.

I note that your database version is 12.1.0.0.1 - 64bit Beta, which is not certified for EM 12c. This may have something to do with the repository creation failure. Can you try using a certified database version (e.g. 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3) to host the EM 12c repository?

How to install Apache Web Server with PHP on Sun Solaris Sparc machine
Hi,
We are trying to install the Apache Web Server and the PHP package on a Sun Solaris Sparc machine running on SunOS 5.8. We are having compilation problems with the source code of both these packages.
Does anybody know if there are ready solaris packages for Apache and PHP available from where we can download and install instead of source code compilation?
Or any instructions / things to watch for when installing Apache with PHP (if anybody has tried installing Apache with PHP on Sun Solaris earlier) is most welcome.

4. Simple PHP install with MySQL. MySQL must be installed before you can configure PHP to use it. I recommend that MySQL should always be reachable with /usr/local/mysql. Even if you install it else where you
should create a symbolic link from /usr/local/mysql. Otherwise the compiler can have problems finding the mysqlclient library. The command
should look like this:
./configure with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql with-apache=../apache_1.3.12
Next, jump to step 6.
5. Custom PHP install. Take a look at the available configuration directives by using this command:
./configure --help
6. Now we can make the PHP executable. This may take a while.
make
7. Now we install the PHP module with:
make install
Adding the PHP Module to Apache
1. Now we have to setup Apache to include the PHP module:
cd ../apache_1.3.12
2. Re-configure Apache to use the PHP module. You should use your previous Apache configure command along with the PHP activate module directive.
You can see your previous Apache configure command by doing:
cat config.status
You can configure Apache using the previous command with the added PHP module by doing:
./config.status --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a
If you used the simple Apache install from instructions the command will look like this:
./configure prefix=/usr/local/apache activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a
3. Make and install Apache with PHP enabled:
make
4. We need to stop the server before installing the files:
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl stop
5. Now we can install the new binaries:
make install
6. Start apache again (now running the new php enabled version):
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start
Setting Up PHP
1. We have to tell Apache to pass certain file extensions to PHP. We do this in Apache's httpd.conf file.
cd /usr/local/apache/conf
2. Edit the httpd.conf file. If you do a search for php you will find a couple of commented out lines telling Apache to use the PHP module. You should uncomment them to look like this.
AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php3-source .phps
3. I prefer to use the extension .phtml, you can use whatever extension you like (even .html) by adding lines to httpd.conf like this:
AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .phtml
Check that it Works
1. We have to restart Apache to make these changes take effect on the running server.
cd /usr/local/apache/bin
./apachectl restart
2. Apache should now be running with PHP enabled. The server version should include PHP/3.0b2.
./apachectl status

Server Version: Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) PHP/3.0.12

3. Now it is time to test PHP with a page. The simplest thing to do is create a page called test.php3. My file is here. This file contains the
