3.0 German local issue

Hello,
when I open the export dialog the field for the file name is not visible (it is, but only 2 px width)
I have to pull the window some pixels wider, then the layout changes and it is fully visible.
This only happens with my default local settings. When I change to English with
AddVMOption -Duser.language=en
AddVMOption -Duser.country=USthen the field is always visible. Maybe because the text "Save as" is shorter than "Speichern unter".
Similar problem: Tools - Preferences - Database - Object viewer -> The button to reset the filters etc is not visible in the german version without enlarging the window. Or should I say it is visible but only as [...] and it looks like a link for more informations. Perhaps it can be placed under the description.
Regards
Marcus

Thanks again for the detailed feedback. The dialog box is not automatically growing for the longer length lines.
I have raised a bug.

    Hello Forum,
    when I enter an SQL which generates an ORA-904, the error message looks somewhat weird with german locale:
    -- First with AMERICAN setting:
    alter session set nls_language='AMERICAN';
    select a from dual;
    alter session set succeeded.
    Error starting at line 2 in command:
    select a from dual
    Error at Command Line:2 Column:7
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-00904: "A": invalid identifier
    00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
    *Cause:
    *Action:
    -- And now with GERMAN setting:
    alter session set nls_language='GERMAN';
    select a from dual;
    alter session set succeeded.
    Error starting at line 4 in command:
    select a from dual
    Error at Command Line:4 Column:7
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-00904: Ungültiger Spaltenname
    00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"
    *Cause:
    *Action:
    As you can see, the name of the invalid column is not displayed when nls_language="GERMAN".
    Maybe the second line '00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier"' results from having a german Windows XP.
    I don't know how it looks on english Windows or how it should look like. :-)
    I run SQLDeveloper on XP Pro and Oracle 9.2 (on W2k).
    Regards,
    dhalek

    dhalek,
    If you take a closer look, the 00904. 00000 - "%s: invalid identifier" line is present in both languages - it's something that gets always appended.
    As for the German message SQL Error: ORA-00904: Ungültiger Spaltenname, you see it's lacking any reference to the column. The German translator apparently let that slip out. If the substitution parameter was there, but unsubstituted for some reason, it would look like SQL Error: ORA-00904: "": Ungültiger Spaltenname.
    You can contact Oracle through Metalink if you want this to get sorted out...

  • [SOLVED]X server locale issues

    Ok so I had this common issue with the glibc update (deleted everything but modules in /lib) and I had to manually unzip an older glibc package in my / folder. After that I rebooted my system, updated fully (latest glibc & symlinked /lib to /usr/lib properly). I then started X normaly but I noted this:
    http://pastebin.com/xfd3tXB7
    So although X boots fine, i have this minor locale issues. I guess it has to do with the fact that I am using greek language. I have installed a greek-Inconsolata font back then and now it is not displaying properly on the urxvt (just some weird chars). I can however switch keyboard layouts just fine and type in both languages (greek/english)

  • Strange date format in german locale

    According to /usr/share/i18n/locales/de_DE the date format for german locale is defined as follows "2000-06-24", which is not very common in German-speaking countries.Usually date is written as "24.06.2000". Some programs use this "wrong" format.
    Is it save to edit the file mentioned above to achieve this format?

    tyr0 wrote:Thank you, karol, formating the file didn´t force programs to use the new format. Maybe my editing isn´t correct.
    Actually it isn´t a real problem, because in scripts you can use "date +%d.%m.%g", so I´ll mark this topic as solved.
    I see that you decided against marking it as solved - or you forgot about it :-)
    Which programs are showing the wrong date? They may be using their own date format and your locales are / were fine.

  • German-Localized Default Color Labels

    We are working on an integration with Bridge CS3/CS4 that supports multiple languages, including German. However, since I do not have a German-localized version of Bridge, I am unable to confirm what the default Label names are. Does anyone have a German version that can list the default colors (Red, Yellow, Purple, etc.) with their corresponding Label values? I want to embed the appropriate XMP values externally, so that German users see the correct values for the default label names.
    I am cross-posting this topic in the Windows forum, too.
    Thanks!

    Davink,
    Sigh…   Obviously you don't speak a damned word of German, or you would have understood the attachment and the screenshot I provided.
    You also didn't read my post carefully.
    You asked about CS3 and CS4.  There are no color designations for either one of those versions in any language.  You need to to go back to CS2 for that.
    Yes, the English values for the labels are used as defaults in the German version until you change that in Preferences to whatever suits you.  Those values are user-configurable on the menu in ALL language versions, including the English version, through Bridge Preferences.  No native German values are even suggested.   As examples »Sonnenuntergang«, »Blumen« and »Tiere«  ("sunset", "flowers" and "animals" respectively) are given in the quoted instructions.  That's what the text and the attachment confirm, to wit:
    Zunächst verwendet Bridge fantasielos englische Bezeichnungen… (TRANSLATION:  As default, Bridge uses English designations in an unimaginative way…) für die Farben: Etwa Red für die rote Kennzeichnung, Yellow für die gelbe etc.
    The same principle applies to the Label designations in CS4 as per the screenshot provided above and repeated here:
    Your French translations will be meaningless and utterly useless the instant the user configures them to suit his purposes and workflow.
    davink wrote:
    though the only way to be sure is verify that you've installed on a German OS, rather than just change your Bridge language preference.
    Hell, no!  It's not the only way.  That's why I provided the applicable text and an attachment to shows you what the User Guide in German says.  Changing the language in Bridge Preferences shows you EXACTLY waht the German user sees on his German computer running a German OS.
    Anyway, I'm attaching the German CS4 Bridge/Version Cue Help file to this post (sorry, that didn't work; it's waaaaay too large a file) for me this exchange is over.  Good luck.

    Yes, Exp-C > Peer Address (FQDN of Exp-E)
    Certificate of Exp-E -> When generating CSR from Exp-E, automatically FQDN (Exp-E(hostname).domainname.com) will be shown. Then this CSR will be send to local CA or Public CA to generate a certificate. OR you meant to say in Exp-E CSR we need to add FQDN of Exp-C server also in alternative name and vice versa too.
    Yes, root certificates & intermediate certificates are uploaded to trusted CA.

    I have resolved this issue. The reason I guess is also "locale"
    "$localectl" output "System Locale: n/a" and I check the /etc/locale.conf I found this file is lost.
    So after I press below command and reboot the machine, gnome-terminal could be started.
    # localectl set-locale LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
    Thanks all!

  • [SOLVED] Systemd locale issue

    I have a recent fresh install of Arch, it's a "pure" systemd installation.
    I'm using XFCE4 and Terminal.
    I can't manage get proper unicode support, only in the terminal: I'm always stuck on POSIX.
    All of this code is run as root.
    $ grep -v '#' /etc/locale.gen
    en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
    fr_FR.UTF-8 UTF-8
    $ locale-gen
    Generating locales...

    LC_ADDRESS="POSIX"
    LC_TELEPHONE="POSIX"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="POSIX"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="POSIX"
    LC_ALL=
    Pressing my "é" key on the keyboard just produces a "?" in the terminal.
    I don't have this issue in any other application.
    I have also tried the following:
    $ export LANG=en_US.utf8
    $ locale
    LANG=en_US.utf8
    LC_CTYPE="en_US.utf8"
    LC_NUMERIC="en_US.utf8"
    LC_TIME="en_US.utf8"
    LC_COLLATE="en_US.utf8"

    LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.utf8"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.utf8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.utf8"
    LC_ALL=
    But I still can't input accented characters.
    All of the following lines don't help:
    $ export LANG="en_US.utf8"
    $ export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
    $ export LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
    Rebooting multiple times between modifications has not helped.
    Help would be greatly appreciated !
    Thanks.

    I had to force installing the filesystem package which now provides locale.sh and after that I proceeded with installing systemd-sysvcompat which deleted the same file.
    Reinstalling filesystem solves the issue.

  • Deploy to web and run local issues

    hi guys!
    is it normal that when I make links and then while trying to test them(it only works on deploy to web, but the flash content that i have there doesnt displays), the links wont be working at all?
    thanks

    The Flash Player has a fairly restrictive security model. If you try to open the deploy-to-web version on your local hard drive, you will encounter this type of issue. That version needs to be run within the context of the web server. Hope that helps some.

  • Locale issues

    Hey guys,
    I've started building out a Flex application using
    Actionscript 3 (no MXML files) as I'd like to keep it lightweight

    I keep getting the errors :

    Unable to resolve resource bundle "rpc" for locale "en_US"
    How do I resolve this issue? I've tried including all the

  • Yet Another Zeroconf/.local Issue

    I'll start off with some details. This an issue at home, my router is configured to hand out the domain 'mcelheran.home' through DHCP, and it does. Using Fing (an extremely useful and handy little network discovery tool available on all platforms, even mobile), all my local hosts show up as 'HOSTNAME.mcelheran.home' as they should. But my iMac (10.9) and my Macbook Pro (10.8) are not behaving as they should, they both seem to think they have '.local' domain and everything I check on them says so, but Fing reports them as having the 'mcelheran.home' domain.
    I can't access my Macs from non Apple products, Windows or Android (SMB), they just aren't being resolved through means of DNS, using IP addresses works fine, though. And now even weirder, I think anyways, is that my Macs can 'see' my SMB shares, but only sometimes. And possibly even weirder again, my Macbook Pro used to have the 'mcelheran.home' domain, at least as far as I could tell on the machine itself and using Fing.
    So, I'd like to have everything working smoothly. I'd like to be able to access SMB shares on my Macs with my other devices, and I'd like to connect to SMB shares on other devices (mainly a 1TB NAS I have) without having to use IP addresses. If I could get all my devices to populate the "Network" in the file managers of all other devices, that would be really nice.
    Thanks a bunch.

    Yes, I am running a legal copy, I am a registered developer with Apple, I didn't think that it would be a violation seeing as how the problem is occuring on both, and the solution would probably be the same. But, I guess with NDA we can't discuss it.
    So, can we discuss the problem that I'm having with my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion?

  • German localization issue

    Hello,
    on my Curve 9320 the home screen shows a major issue while the device is set to German language.
    When clicking on the bar that shows the next appointments from the calendar, the data shown is somewhat like this:
    02/TT someappointment
    02/TT anotherappointment
    03/TT thirdappointment
    It shows "TT" instead of the actual day of the month.
    As soon as I set the blackberry to another language everything is fine, but not even displaying appointments correctly is a very huge bummer.
    Any ideas what I can do fix this? Is that a known bug?

    END;However, if there are any German Characters in SAP, then they are being replaced by JUNK data when they come to Oracle.
    If I invoke the same web-service suing tools like SOAP-UI, then German characters are coming fine. I have also traced web-service requests/responses from SAP side, and there response is showing fine. When it comes to Oracle, they are getting corrupted.
    I'm sure it's something to do with character-set, but I'm not able to find-out where and what I should fix/change.
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hello Both,
    Thank you.
    I ran following command from SQL Plus window after connecting to DB..
    SQL> @[%NLS_LANG%]
    SP2-0310: unable to open file "[AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252]"And also I have checked actual data using DUMP function, it looks like data stored is wrong.
    I have updated one field in SAP such that it only contains German character ä. When I query corresponding data from Oracle I got following output..
    SELECT xmlresponse.Notes,
      dump(xmlresponse.Notes,1010) dump_text
    FROM webservice_log,
