AA mailmerge in Word 2007 (Office SP3) crashes. Windows 8.

Have just installed AA 11.0.07
Every time I try to do a mailmerge:
1. A File save as box opens up. I don't know why. Nevertheless have tried saving as either .doc or .pdf
2. Word then crashes

Footnotes in tables were the problem with my doc as well.  I tried the option of saving the doc as a Word 2003 file, but it didn't help.  I chatted with Adobe Customer Service and was provided this fix:
In Word 2007, click on the Acrobat ribbon
In the "Create Adobe PDF" panel, click on "Preferences"
In the "Settings" tab, under "Application Settings," UNCHECK the box next to "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF"
After that, I was able to create the PDF, and the table of contents and external hyperlinks all worked.  The footnotes were no longer hyperlinked, but since they're on the same page as the items they're referencing, that's not really a problem.  Cheers,
JG

  • BUG: ThinkVantage Password Manager and Word 2007 (possibly just on Windows 7)

    Hi,
      With MS Support I have just been working though a problem with Microsoft Word 2007 on Windows 7 with Client Security Solutions 8.3 (which is Windows 7 compatible).
      The problem is that in Word 2007 (and therefor emails in Outlook 2007) I cannot select text after pressing the Enter key for a new line.
      After uninstalling/reinstalling office, removing printers, addins, templates, etc I have discovered that the problem goes away when I exit the Password Manager application.
      I have tried adding winword.exe as an exception but that doesn't help. For now I have had to stop the Password Manager loading on startup.
      Could Lenovo please advise with a fix for this issue.

    Im having this Problem with my Mouse on Video games and other Applications!
    I was going to try to do what you stated fixed the problem at First
    The document suggests changing some registry values to
    disable this high resolution behavior. Thus I did just
    that and added the following 2 entries to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\HID\Vid_x
    xxx&Pid_yyyy\<instance_ID>\Device Parameters
    VScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
    HScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
    However i cant seem to find
    VScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
    HScrollHighResolutionDisable = 1
    Am i suppose to Create them? Are they Dwords? or what If anyone could please message me on Skype Aaronroy12 if you have a Solution because i looked into everything under HID and
    havent found anything! I dont really need the Other things that kinda broke it again i only need to Fix it to play Games in which it Messes up on!

  • Word in Office 2004 crashes every time I open a document...?

    Hi,
    I"m not sure this is the appropriate forum for this, but I thought I'd try here...
    I've been running Office 2004 on my G4 for many with no problem. I do very little, occasional Word documents and some Excel. I've stayed at OS 10.3.9 for ages, since I'm stuck there because of my Pro Tools hardware. I change nothing with my system unless something goes wrong. At some point about six months ago, for no apparent reason, every time I tried to open any Word document on the Mac, I would get a message from Word saying that corruption was detected in the document, and would I like to attempt recovery. I click "Ok", then Word crashes. This happens on any and all Word documents. These documents open fine on other computers, Mac or PC. They are not corrupt. But I suppose something is? I Googled around and tried a fix deleting the "FontCache(11)" file from Microsoft/Preferences, but that didn't work. I installed the two major service packs for Office 2004. No go.
    If anyone has any tips for what to try next I'd appreciate it! Thanks - Steve

    it says has a version that works with 10.3.9.

  • Word 2007 crashes during autosave and when saving as .DOC

    Hi,
    I have a problem with Microsoft Word 2007. It crashes every time during autosave. It also crashes when I try to save a file as .DOC (even an empty new file). When I save it as any other file type it's fine.
    I have already tried repairing the office installation, reinstalling the whole suite (and then installing SP3 and all latest patches again), auto fix it from
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822005/en-us and
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us, changing the autosave file location, using different windows account. None of these helped. I wouldn't like to work with autosave switched off.
    I am using Windows 7 Professional SP1 and Office 2007 Professional 12.0.6683.5002 with SP3 on HP EliteBook 8470w.

  • Changes to Normal.dotm in Word 2007

    Hello,
    I have created a new "Blank Template.dotm" which essentially is a blank document that prompts users to enter in document properties, etc. The template works fine in Word 2007 (Office 2007 SP3). The requirement is to make this document the normal.dotm;
    default work template when opening.
    What I have discovered is that when taking the "Blank Template.dotm" and renaming it to "normal.dotm" the same template does not work. A user is not prompted for the document properties and when printing, the headers and footers are filled
    with document reference errors.
    Additionally, when I say "prompted for the document properties" what I mean is the document properties feature in work;
    Click on Word Ord | Prepare | Document Properties
    Can anyone shed some light on this? I can share a copy of the template if required.
    Thanks!

    A basic problem is that it is virtually impossible for an ordinary person to create a template to substitute for the normal template in Word.
    I'm not saying impossible; I am saying I would not try it. The normal template produced by Word has a number of components that are not part of other templates produced by Word. This was more true in earlier versions of Word but remains the case in the Ribbon
    versions. See
    Normal Template for more on this.
    Is there any reason your code cannot be in a
    Global Template other than the normal template?
    The Add-Ins at http://addbalance.com/word/download/LetterheadAddin.zip gives an example of an Add-In that runs code whenever Word starts and whenever a new document is created.
    In addition, there is an option in Word to prompt for these properties. Why not just reset that option?
    http://www.quepublishing.com/articles/article.aspx?p=731710&seqNum=10
    I believe the command is:
    Application.DisplayDocumentInformationPanel=True
    If that is placed in an AutoExec macro in a global template it may do what you want.
    Otherwise Jay Freedman provided the following macro which only acts on the first save:
    Sub FileSave()
        ' Simulate the "Prompt for document properties" option of 2003.
        ' When the document is saved for the first time, open the
        ' Properties dialog.
        On Error Resume Next
        If Len(ActiveDocument.Path) > 0 Then
          ' The document has already been saved at least once.
          ' Just save and exit the macro.
          ActiveDocument.Save
          Exit Sub
        End If
        ' This is the first save. Show the dialog.
        Dialogs(wdDialogFileSummaryInfo).Show
        ' Now save.
        ActiveDocument.Save
    End Sub

    Well, now I'm confused <g>.

  • Word 2007 AddIn Cannot Run on Windows XP SP3 + Office 2007

    Hi All,
    I faced an issue regarding our Word 2007 AddIn cannot run on Office 2007 + WinXP SP3.
    I developed a Word 2007 AddIn using VS 2010. The addin works fine on Win7 + Office 2007. But It cannot run in Word 2007 in WinXP.
    I have tried the following testing.
    1. I rebuild a new WinXP environment + Office 2007 + VS 2010. No antivirus in my machine. I create the Word 2007 AddIn using VS 2010. But unfortunately, it cannot run in my WinXP machine. it's very strange.
    2. I rebuild a new Win7 environment + Office 2007 + VS 2010. No antivirus in my machine, and the same steps with previous. it runs fine.
    3. I noticed that, if I debug the Word AddIn Project using VS 2010 In XP, it cannot run into debug mode. I checked the Word Options
    I have highlight the test addins it always uncheck. If I checked it, when I reopen Word. it will change to uncheck status.
    And the addins always in Inactive Application Addin group.
    @All guys, How to solve this issue? It's very very strange.
    Thanks a lot for your help.
    Regards,

    Hello Ricky,
    First of all, I'd suggest checking the Trust Center settings in Outlook. Then take a look at the Disabled Items list. Is your add-in listed there?
    Microsoft Office applications can disable add-ins that behave unexpectedly. If an application does not load your add-in when you try to debug it, the application might have hard disabled or soft disabled your add-in.
    Hard disabling can occur when an add-in causes the application to close unexpectedly. It might also occur on your development computer if you stop the debugger while the Startup event
    handler in your add-in is executing.
    Soft disabling can occur when an add-in produces an error that does not cause the application to unexpectedly close. For example, an application might soft disable an add-in if it throws an unhandled exception while the Startup event
    handler is executing.
    When you re-enable a soft-disabled add-in, the application immediately attempts to load the add-in. If the problem that initially caused the application to soft disable the add-in has not been fixed, the application will soft disable the add-in
    again.
    You can read more about that in the
    How to: Re-enable an Add-in That Has Been Disabled article in MSDN.

    Hey guys,
    I have a user that is using Word 2007 on Windows XP sp3.  When she tries to save a word document, Word crashes on her.  It appears to do this randomly and there is nothing I can see that would trigger it.  She can edit a document, save it
    (using either quick save, or file, save) and it will crash on her.  She's noticed more of a issue when she uses the quick save button.  I have uninstalled Office twice. Once doing an uninstall/reinstall and the other doing an uninstall, delete the

    I found.  I did notice in the add/remove programs that there was a Dorland's lsited there, but could not be uninstalled.  I am betting that could be the culprit.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
    This issue may occur due to conflict with certain software\driver such as PDF add-ons or default printer software.
    To resolve your issue, you can follow the methods below to delete the corresponding registry:
    1. Click Start , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
    4. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes.
    5. Exit Registry Editor.
    6. Restart Word
    Hope it helps.

  • WORD 2010 Crashes Opening Word 2007 files

    WORD 2010 crashes when opening Word 2007 files. If you save the files in Office 2007 as an RTF file, then open in WORD 2010 and save as a DOCX it works fine. Why can't WORD open legacy documents (these are not big files ~13 pages).
    I have tried opening in safe mode, same effect - the doc opens and appears in the WORD window, and then the pop-up appears before you can do anything telling you that WORD 2010 has crashed.

    Try using Open and Repair on the problem docs.
    In the Open dialog, select the file, then click the arrow beside Open and choose Open and Repair
    If that doesnt help you may want to check  the How to troubleshoot damaged documents in Word 2007 and in Word 2010

  • Help me stop Word 2007 from crashing with PDFMaker!

    I'm running Word 2007 (along with other Office 2007 applications) on a Windows 7, 64-bit computer that I recently migrated to.  Every single time I try to create a pdf of a Word .doc or .docx file, the pdf is created OK but Word crashes.  This is a huge nuisance, as I'd like to be able to keep other Word files open as I pdf the one I'm working on.    I'm up-to-date with the Acrobat version (9.5.1); it's Acrobat Pro.  Plenty of room on the hard drive (500 GB, of which 333 GB is free) and plenty of memory (8GB).
    Note I'm able to create pdfs in PowerPoint and Excel without problems using the Acrobat add-in.  I'm also able to create a pdf from a file shown in Windows Explorer by highlighting the file and using the right-click button to choose "Create PDF."
    Any ideas?

    I belive this is because technically Adobe is not supporting Windows 64 bit, so all the features we enjoyed in, say Windows XP, are not supported now. This is an ongoing battle with Adobe who apparently has 0 interest or intent in supporting 64 bit. They SAY they support it, but they only mean you can save to PDF. None of the features like hyperlinks, PDF Maker, TOC, shared reviews, etc. are supported. I think they are literally the only company not supporting 64 bit and their only workaround is to now use 64 bit. (Can you tell I am annoyed - I am. It's been over a year battling them and 0 action on their part.)

    "Can't open file WRS (97F62665-949E-4CC3-967C-80EE690DFF9C).
    If the file is stored on you computer there may be a problem with
    the hardware or netwroik. If you can copy the file, try saving it
    in another location and opening it from there." I saved the file on
    a memory stick and was able to get it converted to a pdf at a local
    business support store for a fee.
    I'd very much prefer to do my own conversions and wonder if
    anyone on this forum has experienced the same problem and was able
    to resolve it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    You can also try starting Word in Safe Mode:
    Press Win + R and type “Winword.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
    If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
    In addition, I have seen such Word crash issues caused by conflicted programs, you can perform a clean boot to determine if background programs are interfering with Word:

    I hope this helps.
