Acrobat 9/9.1  - Coruption when export to Word

Hi,
I have been using Adobe Acrobat 9 for a few months now, both in version 9 and 9.1
I have recently been asked to utilise the export to Word feature, which from experience in version 8, has and should be a relatively painless process.
However, to my shock, version 9.x seems to have serious issues when exporting to Word. I find my documents are heavily truncated and often crash word on the second to last page of the document.
I have tried this in our Production environment, Test environment and on a vanilla installation of Windows 2003, to no avail.
I have tried the 'export to HTML' option as one of the guys on the forum suggested, but breaks the formatting considerably.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Andrew

You might try extracting page groups and see if it works on the page groups separately. It may just be one page or such that is having a problem. I really have no clue, but that might be a troubleshooting approach. As far as Adobe help, welcome to the world of Adobe. That is how a lot of us got to the forums.
Actually, for a lot of things you will find more help here than from the Adobe help anyway. There are a few things that they might be able to help on that folks here can not, but that would typically require them to consult the coding folks.

  • Crystal Reports Formatting issues when exporting to Word Editable document

Version: CR XI, I am editing a document exported from CR to Word Editable
When exporting to a Word Editable (.rtf) document the formatting changes.  For example: lines that were drawn in the report do not come across, there  is a tab in front of each line and a carriage return at the end of each line and spacing and justification formatting are not the same.  Is there a way to export to Word Editable and keep the formatting integrity? This report was developed by a third party but I can edit it if needed.

Pages 5 is, as an early reviewer put it, "an unmitigated disaster." Not only does it lack some 100 feautres that are present in Pages 09 (4.3), it is also VERY buggy, A quick look through these discussions will reveal a painful litany of data corruption, files that cannot be opened, lost data, and other anomalies. Links do not export reliably to PDFs, and, as you've discovered, export to .docx format is unreliable. Sadly, the best advice is to trash Pages 5.1 and use Pages 4.3 or — yes, it's come to that — Word instead.

  • Pages 5 doc not showing comments when exported to Word

I'm using Pages 5 and I like it, but am having a problem. When I try to export a Pages document with comments into Word format, the file looks good on my Mac using Quick View. I can see the comments. It also looks fine when I open it with Pages, the comments still show. But when I email it to someone using Windows, the document does not show any of the comments, not even the highlighting.
I never had any problem with this using the previous version of Pages, where documents exported to Word format and the comments were visible.
I have resorted to copy/pasting my comments, then saving as a PDF, which works, but is sort of clumsy. Is there a better way to do this with Pages 5?

Thanks for the additional helpful information, Fruhulda. I didn't realize that they had removed important features in the so-called upgrade.
It sounds as if Pages 5 will work for fast and easy tasks, but Pages 09 will be good to have for heavy-duty work. I guess this explains why Pages 5 didn't overwrite Pages 09 on installation. They are really two different apps now.

  • Is it possible to choose which template to use when exporting to word?

Hi, just wanted to know is it possible to have more than one word template and be able to choose from these templates when exporting a document to word. Another question, can we choose the print layout at the point of clicking print, instead of selecting a default one in the PLD beforehand? Thanks.
(Using SAP Business One 2005B PL41)
Edited by: Tan Gavin on Oct 8, 2008 10:14 AM

    Hi Tan Gavin
The answer to both questions is unfortunately NO. The templates are linked to specific events or triggers in the system and cannot be changed or determined by any user. With the PLD the limitation is that if you want different layouts, the only way is to change default the whole time. But bear in mind that the default could be set by user, BP or both. This does allow the system to use a different layout for each user or specific BP's.

  • Acrobat (10.1.3) crashes when exporting a pdf from InDesign (7.5.2)

So every once and a while I export a file to pdf from InDesign and Acrobat crashes.  Sometimes it doesn't crash until I reduce file size.  It always happens when it is actually saving the file.  Usually I am overwriting a file with a newer version but not always and either way I get a crash.  I copied my crash report below.  Please help.  This reduces my productivity greatly.
    http://pastebin.com/DNpKCNXA

I'm going to leave this open here in case anyone has some ideas, but since this is an Acrobat crash (it looks like it might have something to do with security), you should cross post in the Acrobat forum.

  • Error occured when exporting to Word

I purchased Acrobat to export one particular document from PDF to word, but every time I try (both on the site itself and on my desktop) I receive an error message--an unexpected error has occured.

I can't even upload it--it's a pdf file, and it's only 45 MB.  It will start loading, but when it gets close to finishing, it just stops/disappears.

  • Trouble with Equations When Exporting to Word

First, I should note, I'm an economist, equations are basically most of my documents.
I'm having trouble getting equations to export correctly to word (I have CS 6 with A. Pro X), what appears to be happening is that Acrobat tries to make the equation using standard characters, not using Word's equation editor.  This doesn't really work, and you get results like this:
When this is from the PDF:
Does anyone know how to impove this behavior?  Also, there seems to be conficting information about the ExportPdf service, some says it works some say stay away -- and there doesn't seem to be a free trial to try it out.

Well I found that TeX2WORD worked pretty well. It converted the TeX equations into MathType equations. It was not perfect, but the best I have had. I had no luck with the figures, but then I really use TeX as an intermediate step and am not that TeX saavy. It may be that if you use TeX, it will work fine for you. Converting from PDF will simply convert the equations into text in the right spot, but possibly the wrong fonts. I was actually surprised how well it did with AA XI, I was not expecting much at all (really great compared to older products of AA).
For the figures I simply reinserted them in the WORD file. Keep in mind I did this for OFFICE 2003. I believe TeX2WORD has been updated to work with the newer OFFICE. I had gone this route as the best way to get some of my word processor files into WORD -- I have a LaTeX output option and used that. Hope the suggestion helps. It is a direct route and avoids the added problems of additional conversions. This conversion is one of the only reasons I still keep an old Dell laptop around as it is the one that the software is license for. You can download a trial version to try.

  • Report Header problem when exporting as Editable RTF

Hey i was advised to post my query to this forum. My query is this Thread My report Header shows underneath my Page Header in Crystal reports 2008 can someone help me please?

    hi Demeleo,
i was going through old forum posts and saw this one...did this get resolved?
    Hey
I created reports in Visual Studio 2008 with crystal reports basic, i then upgraded to Crystal reports 2008 so i could be able to export them as EditableRTF. My first problem was i could not open my reports in VS 2008 anymore, but i do open them in The CR 2008 IDE. My problem now is when i export my reports my report header appears underneath my page header and my page number stays one. I noticed this happens when i export a report as EditableRTF.How can i Export my report to be editable without having this problems?
using cr 2008 v1 (for cr server) i was not able to reproduce this issue when exporting to RTF.
when exporting to Word, Editable, i can see this issue. mostly because the word export has the cr page header info going into the word page header.
as the word export is essentially an RTF export anyway, i would recommend getting the latest patches / service pack for your cr and the RTF export should be what you're looking for.

  • Export to Word with LayoutDirection of RTL on Tablix

When exporting to Word from SSRS 2008 R2 - setting the LayoutDirection of a Tablix to RTL causes the rendered table in word to appear in inverted order:
Selecting the table and setting Table direction (in the Table Properties dialog) to Right-to-left once already in Word corrects the issue.
Leaving LayoutDirection as LTR renders in the correct direction, but then tabbing through the table in Word is in the wrong direction.
Any chance that SSRS can be made to render LayoutDirection=RTL to Table direction=Right-to-left?

    Hi Sq,
I have tested it on my local environment, we cannot reproduce this issue. My test environment is SQL Server Reporting Service 2008 R2 and Microsoft Word 2010 on Window 7. So this issue may be caused by your design structure of your report, if possible redesign
the report to check if this issue is persists or not.
If the issue persists, please elaborate the structure of your report, if possible could you please post both the report and the dataset with sample data to us by the following E-mail address? Then, I can try to reproduce the issue again and for further analysis.

  • Problems exporting to Word

    Hi,
We are using the crystals reports bundled with VS2005 targetting .Net Framework 2.0, for a web based application. On some development PCs(Windows XP Sp3) and some ISS servers(IIS 6.0 and Windows Server 2003 R2(SP2) where the application is hosted we have a problem exporting the report is exported to word (programmatically using eportDocument.ExportToHttpResponse). Export to PDF and Excel on the PCs/server worls fine. This problem happens to all the reports in the system.
The problem is that the window opens and closes and we don't get to see the word document. But the same report when exported to word from the export option in the Crystal Report viewer, it works fine. Also on two of our Windows 2003 server with SP2 the export to word is working fine.
Please can anyone help us resolve this issue.

    Hi,
We are using the CR bundled with VS 2005 which is CR version 10.2.3600.0. On the development machine where the export is not working, we have CR 8.5, the CR bundled with VS2005 and CR 2008(CR 12.0) with SP1 installed. We use the Visual Studio Integration manager to switch the versions from CR for VS 2005 and CR 12.0 and vice versa.
On the Windows 2003 R2 server, we have used the CR redistributable package to install Crystal report runtimes. No other version of CR or any service packs is installed on this machine.
We initially had a problem with the CR on this server, where the reports would not work evertime the server was restarted and we had to re-install the distributable each time. To solve this, we had to manually register this dll C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\2.7\Bin\sacommlayer.dll. (I believe this is a known issue with Windows Server 2003 R2 and .Net 2.0).
Please let me know if you need more information.

  • Cannot overwrite PDF when exporting to Acrobat from InDesign CS6

When exporting to Acrobat Pro X from InDesign CS6, there are times when I want to overwrite an exising file but I get an error msg that the file is in use (it is not--this even happens when I have closed the file and quit Acrobat) or i don't have permission. In the Info panel at the Finder, i see that "myusername (ME)" does have permission to read and write this file. As a test, I also changed the permissions for Admin and Everyone to Read & Write, but that did not help. I've checked Preferences in both InDesign and Acrobat Pro anc can't find a relevant setting.
To save the file with the same filename as the pre-exisitng PDF, I have to close the pre-exisitng PDF and move it to the trash.
I have no problem overwriting a PDF document from Acrobat. This only happens when I am exporting from ID.
I am on a Mac running the latest version of OSX.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Carol Gunn

Make sure that the PDF you are trying to overwrite is not selected in your finder. I've found that if it's selected in the finder then the preview tricks Indesign into thinking the file is busy

  • Just subscribed to Acrobat for $19.99/year to be able to use expanded pdf manipulation features. From left hand window I signed in successfully. However when I try to use a feature like export to Word doc I am sent to Web page to subscribe for more money.

Just subscribed to Acrobat for $19.99/year to be able to use expanded pdf manipulation features. From left hand window I signed in successfully. However when I try to use a feature like export to Word doc I am sent to Web page to subscribe for more money.  I thought I had already paid for access to these features by subscribing for the $19.99? What features did this $19.99 allow me if NOT to edit or export PDF files?

Please check the name of what you subscribed to. You say "Acrobat" but that isn't $19.99/year. Unfortunately Adobe have products which do the same thing and need to be used in different ways.

  • Acrobat Pro XI - "Failed to Export" when exporting Shared Mailbox Folders to PDF in Outlook 2007 - any solution?

When trying to export a Shared Mailbox folder in Outlook 2007 to PDF, messages are failing consistently.
We are using the latest and greatest Adobe Acrobat XI.
It will export a little bit of the folder and then fail the rest of the items.
There are approximately 929 items in the folder, and about 237 exported before the failures started happening.
    Any advice would be great!

Bill - there is a typo above. Customer is using Acrobat X, not XI.
When we tested, we upgraded the office suite to 2010 and it worked with XI. We will just have to get him both upgraded. This hopefully should resolve the issue.
I will check back in with the results.
