Acrobat won't install on our computers.

I can't get acrobat XI to install on any of our computers.  It gives an error that points to the my documents folder.  Our My Documents folders are by default policy pointing to the servers.  Any ideas?

Something is preventing the installer from completing it's task and the only way you can find out what it might be is to create a verbose installation log file.
Here is a simple way to do that:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2545723
Once you have applied the MS Fixit for the appropriate OS then re-run the installer.
When it fails again the gather the log file and post it.
Else you could always contact Adobe Support.

  • Acrobat won´t install

My G5 mac with OS 10.3.9 has had a well functioning Acrobat 6.0 for years.Suddenly Acrobat refuses to mount (install). I have tried restart. I have the same problem even when trying to start an Acrobat copy that I have on an external disk. I can´t find the original installer disc , so I would rather not uninstall the existing program. I have tried to download and install an Acrobat Reader (7.1) to see if my pdfs can be opened. But they did´nt. What am I to do?

    THANKS FOR ANSWERING, MIKE!
Yes,I have used the application on my Mac for a long time.
When clicking the icon, I get the message: "Adobe Acrobat could not install correctly. Adobe was unable to install and must quit."
I have tried Disk Utilities and fixed permissions. I have also tried to run the program from another user. No reaction. This is the case for Distiller too. Just before the incident I had organized and added a great deal of fonts with Extensiss Suitcase X, so could this be the reason? The fonts were put in the right place, and not in subfolders made by me. These fonts are working perfect in Indesign CS.
I think I will be busy this weekend trying out different solutions......

  • CS 6 Design Standard-Acrobat won't install

Just installed CS6 Design Standard from disc to my Mac. Education Edition. Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator all installed OK, but Acrobat Pro did not, despite checking the box at the start of the install.
Installed the trial while waiting for serial number, and Acrobat wouldn't install then either. Had a free trial which expired some time back.
    Any ideas?

The trial is a newer version of Acrobat than in the old CS6 package, and if you didn't delete it it has probably caused all sorts of problems. Try deleting Acrobat XI and trying again.

Please note that you can activate Acrobat subscription on maximum two computers using your Adobe ID credentials.
In order to install and activate Acrobat on the second machine, you must first deactivate it on the first machine using the Help menu.
You might get User Account Control prompt after selecting 'Privilege Level' option under Compatibility tab of Acrobat properties.

  • Acrobat won't install.  Nothing happens

Every time I download Acrobat or Reader, the download completes successfully.  I click the link, and it asks if I want to run the file.  I click "Run."  It then asks me if I want to allow the program to make changes to my computer.  I click "Yes."
Then.... nothing happens.  No pop-ups.  No screen jumps.  No cursor icon suggesting that it's thinking.  The only indication that I get that anything even happened is if I open the Windows Task Manager and check "Processes" and there I do find that the program is running (consuming about 13,000 K of memory).  So, if I try to click the icon again, it tells me that only one instance of the program can run at a single time.  I guess the computer thinks that the program is running.  But nothing happens.  I leave the computer sitting for 30 minutes, and still nothing.
I used to have Reader on the computer, but I uninstalled it thinking that perhaps it was conflicting with my attempt to install Acrobat.  But now, I get the same response (or lack of response) trying to install either program back on my system.
I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit.  I have no virus issues and no registry issues.  I did download the .exe file and tried to install it with my Norton firewall turned off, with the exact same nothing as with it turned on.  I have restarted my system several times.
A phone call to TechSupport was NO help.  Anyone have any other ideas?!!?  I need my computer for work, and I've already lost an entire day without having at least Reader running on my system.  HELP!!!

Man, I have been at this all day!  For the record I followed the instructions here:
http://http://forums.adobe.com/message/4041846#4041846 on how to do a clean install of flash player.
I even had to download unlocker.  So now I have third party stuff to get rid of -
CAN ANYONE HELP ME?  I notice other posts that happen after I started posting are getting plenty of responses - is this problem already answered in the forums?  I have searched through them, but if I am missing something obvious, please, please tell me!
I am a newbie.  I don't really know anything about computers.  I have just been following the bread crumbs.
The problem always comes down to the lack of permissions when installing the activex.vxc.5 in the Windows sysWOW64.
The only conclusions i have reached is that the problem is either user control oriented or active x control oriented.
but i have tried all the roots and it seems my account is not corrupted, and AVG, and or my internet security settings are not disallowing active x installation.
so now i am starting to get paranoid that my user account has been hijacked and i am running a shadow or something without complete control.
i also forgot to mention that i run CC cleaner now and then - is it possible this has deleted important files?

I can't open pdf files anymore.. either FF4 is the culprit --I d/l it last month.. or the Adobe 10 update is...

    Thank you for the video.
The video shows the App Store app that is trying to download and install Adobe Reader for iOS.  Adobe Reader for iOS is not even launched at the point.  Once we (the Adobe Reader Mobile team) upload a new version of Adobe Reader to the App Store, Apple takes care of the installation & updates of the app (and all other iOS apps) for users.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader for iOS version 11.6.3 on my iPad running iOS 8.1 but could not reproduce the problem.  I suspect that your iPad is in inconsistent state with regard to app updates.
Here are a couple of things that you could try.
Go to the iOS Settings > General > Usage > Managed Storage.
If you see Adobe Reader, tap to go to the next screen.  This is to ensure that Adobe Reader is completely uninstalled from your iPad.  If you do not see Adobe Reader in the list, skip the rest of the steps.
Tap Delete App to uninstall it.
Go back to the App Store to download and install Adobe Reader again.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
Since this is an Apple App Store problem, you would have a better chance of getting answers by asking the question in the Apple support forum.

    Good luck.

  • Adobe acrobat won't install - I don't get the user account control prompt

  • FRUSTRATED - windows 7 64 bit driver HP 6500 709e all in one won't install on 2 computers

    Hi,
My son and I both got new laptops for Christmas.  I have had nothing but problems installing our wireless printer with its full features.  My son's computer is a Dell, mine is a Toshiba.  From what I could find both needed the same driver but both have had MAJOR issues getting the install to complete and installing the device. Somehow I was able to get it installed on my Toshiba but the "fix" I used didn't work on the Dell.  PLEASE HELP! Thanks
    Carol
Sorry I realized I did add much information.  The printer is the 6500 all in one deskjet 709e.  I have tried installing the 64 bit, windows 7...i also downloaded the update. Eventually it worked for my Toshiba laptop but still can't get it to install on my son's dell.
    After numerous tries,
I downloaded the driver for windows 7, 64 bit driver and then downloaded the update.  The driver/software wouldn't install the device until I did the update (for my Toshiba) but this is not working for the Dell.  Also I did download the troubleshooter and it was useless!

Welcome to the HP Forums Zoney,
I read your post which indicates that you are getting a "MICROSOFT VISUAL C ++RUNTIME LIBRARY" error, when trying to install the printer software. I can help you with this.
Download and install this Patch> Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error.
    Uninstall the printer software.
Before installing the printer software again, setup the Admin rights on the computer.
Run Command Prompt as Administrator. Go to the start menu, type “CMD” in the search bar. Now, you should see a shortcut for CMD above. Right click on it, and click “run as administrator”. If it asks you for administrative permission, please allow permission. In your Command Prompt window (as administrator), type the following and hit Enter: net user administrator /active:yes
You should see a message saying "the command completed successfully". After troubleshooting is done, you can disable this account by typing the following command into Command Prompt (as administrator): net user administrator /active:no.
Restart the computer, and utilize the new account that is available, which should be named "Administrator".
Here are some more steps you can try if you are still getting the Runtime error.
But it is looking more like a Operating System issue.
Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, 2008 and 2005 Redistributable Packages.
You will find the download links to these packages below:

    2010 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632
    Try the installation again please.
Let me know how you make out.

  • Acrobat won't install updates

I have installed Adobe creative suite 3 and adobe acrobat 9
standard. Every time acrobat starts it tells me updates are
available do you wish to install. I say yes and it tells me that it
must shut down acrobat to do this. Do you want to continue or
cancel? I hit continue, it shuts down acrobat and then 30 seconds
later tells me it was unable to shut down acrobat and that it will
not install updates. For some reason the installer thinks Acrobat
is running whenever it tries to install updates even if it is not.
We have reinstalled my adobe creative suite package and this
allowed me to run updates in acrobat one time. 2 weeks later I am
not able to install updates again. Any thoughts on what this could
be? I am running windows XP.

  • Acrobat won't install on my iMac

I bought a Fujitsu S1500 snanner bundled with set up software and Adobe acrobat 9 Standard which I installed on my pc. I have now changed the pc to an iMac and the Acrobat software will not install. I find it very strange that the software supplied does not seem to have the option to run on both pc and mac. My Canon MX320 software does have this option, Suggestions please.

Fijitsu sells both the S1500 scanner (packaged with Acrobat 9 Standard and other Windows software) and the S1500M (packaged with Acrobat 9 Pro and other Macintosh Software). They do not provide both Mac and Windows software with their scanner. If you have your own version of Windows you can use the Windows software running onder Bootcamp or emulation software like Parallels or Fusion. You cannot scan using the S1500 with Acrobat Pro 9 for the Mac. The S1500M comes with its own scanning software. It can scan to the Mac to a pdf file that you can then process with Acrobat or Preview whichever best suits your need. Personally, I use Acrobat Pro X for the Mac platform. If you only need to view pdf files, than the Mac's preview application may be sufficient for your needs.

  • We want to install Acrobat XI on our computers at work. How can we do that?

We want to purchase Acrobat XI to install on our business computers. How do we do that?

    Hi Ashley ,
You would have two options in this case .
You would like to purchase it individually .Here is the link for the same.

The other option available is the volume license .

  • Acrobat X Pro installed, but Help didn't

I work at a large agency—about 2800 employees—and we cannot get any Help from Acrobat X Pro.
But that isn't Adobe's fault. We upgraded from 9 to X at least 8 months ago. Ever since, whenever any one of us has hit "Help," we have gotten the same message:
There's a good reason the browser can't find the file at that address. There aren't any files there. In fact, there is no /X folder in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_US/acrobat/.
We have uninstalled and reinstalled from our NAL. Same result.
Our IT folks say this is as it should be—that all Adobe help is now online, so there are no files to be installed on our computers. Funny thing, though: All help has been online for a while. So we found an installation of Acrobat 9 Pro, copied the /9 folder from /Adobe/Help/en_US/acrobat into my installation of Acrobat X Pro, renamed the folder /X instead of /9, and voila! We were taken to the correct Help topic for our context, regardless of what we were doing. Everything worked.
Except that we were taken to the help for  9, not X.
Still, IT insists that there are no files on their CDs, there are no files to be downloaded from Adobe's site, and there should be no such files—indeed, no /Help folder—on our C: drives.
And they just closed a 7-month-old Help ticket with no progress on the fix.
Some of us who are affected are on Windows 7; others are on Windows XP. It seems like that shouldn't matter, though.
Is there a place I can point the IT guys to so they will find the solution to this problem?

  • If we uncheck the third-party McAfee offer, why is a McAfee folder still installed on our computer?

The folder in ProgramData is titled "McAfee" and the next folder under that directory is title "MCLOGS" folder, so there can be no doubt that is a third-party folder.  Why is it installed after we have requested no third-party installation?
And, possibly more importantly, where in the Adobe agreements we click acceptance of does it state we have authorized Adobe to install a third-party folder on our computer?

I have an update from the discussion at McAfee that is related to this matter here at Adobe.
I do not know what the precedent might be for this manner of posting, but what is given to us at McAfee obviously carries weight with matters related to this here at Adobe.  There is no way to separate the two.
x x x Response from Mark at McAfee Consumer Support to my last question x x x
    Feb 5, 2014 6:04 PM
    Hello geomg,
This is a good question with many layers, I don't have sufficient information to answer them.
Will this update arrive with the next update to Java unlikely. Java updates are for the Oracle product.
The change will likely take place when MSS+ is updated. I don't have a time line for this.
How the change will be release and to whom again I am not sure. This is an odd situation as there isn't a product on the systems to update. One would have to remove the Oracle app to trigger the offer to install MSS+ again.
As for the use of the term product update cycle it is a standard development term. It refers to the time period in the life of an applications when it is actively updated. According to the comment from the MSS+ team the change should occur with the next release of the MSS+ product.
    x x x My Response to Mark at McAfee x x x
Thank you for your continued assistance in this matter, Mark.
If I may, I'd like to focus attention on a particular sentence from your last response:
"This is an odd situation as there isn't a product on the systems to update."
No product because we opted out, but there is a folder placed on our system that is directly related to the offer of the McAfee product, MSS+. And it is a folder placed there without any agreement documentation related to that folder. I think most computer owners feel the standard protocol is that any company that wishes to place a folder on their computer has to ask permission through some sort of agreement documentation.
Mark, who owns that McAfee folder that is placed in our ProgramData folder?
It has the McAfee name, but did McAfee sign an agreement with Oracle and Adobe to do what they please with that folder?
I ask the question in that manner because there is a Mr. Roger Lewis at Oracle who is publicly stating this is all going to be taken care of at Oracle with a bug report handled at Oracle and he indicated something about the McAfee folder was going into the wrong location on our computers and it should be going into a temporary folder.
That seems to indicate that Oracle owns the folder and can do as they please with it, and this rookie in such matters, me, finds that a little strange, if you don't mind my making that personal observation.
So I am now able to ask you, Mark, as a senior member of consumer support, because the crux of the issue is why we don't see McAfee asking us permission to place that folder on our computer. On top of that, it's being placed in a hidden folder — Vista, by the way (two units). I haven't checked and tested my Windows 7 computer. But we do have reports from people using Windows 7 and having the issue arise from an Adobe installation.
I hope I'll be forgiven for highlighting the irony of this affair, in that your company is in the business of stopping odd folders being installed on our computers without our permission. To my knowledge, I never gave anyone permission over the past 12 months or so to place a McAfee folder on my computer, unless it is actually an Oracle or Adobe folder which is incorrectly named. Except there is also the matter of the MCLOGS folder being in there, too. And that is obviously from McAfee. Plus Mr. Lewis at Oracle did not indicate there was a problem with the name of the folder.
Unfortunately, there has not yet been an employee response from Adobe. I don't know what their view is of this matter.
And for any new readers here that may not wish to go back and read three months of posts about this affair, we are not referring to a situation where we did not see the opt-out box. This is a situation where we unchecked the box to not receive the McAfee product, yet a McAfee folder is still installed on our computer.
And let me thank you, Mark, for your patience. Thank you.
Ladies and gentlemen at Adobe, I contend this issue also requires feedback from your company. A lack of employee feedback in this thread has some believing there may be something you feel needs to remain out of the public view. I'm not of that opinion. I just think you haven't had enough time to fully acquaint yourselves with the facts of the case. Am I correct?

  • Acrobat XI won't install if My Documents is redirected

We've seen this issue with Adobe Acrobat as well as HP print drivers and a few other installers. To say it is frustrating is an understatement. Hoping someone can shed some light on this.
As a standard part of our workstation setups, we edit the properties on the My Documents library and change it's location from C:\users\username\documents to H:\Documents  (H: is mapped to a network "home" drive for each user). This ensures that the user's files are saved on the network, where they get backed up daily.
However, several installers seem to take issue with this and won't install, saying they can't find the H: drive. Adobe's installer is among the guilty parties.
We have a work-around for the issue... we change the My Documents library back to it's default c: drive location. Run the install, then re-direct it back to the network volume after the install completes.  We have observed that the installer writes nothing to this path (even checking hidden/system files), so it obviously doesn't really need this path to function.
What is the issue here, and why hasn't Adobe and other vendors addressed it? We know we aren't the only company who redirects libraries in this manner. It's good practice to safeguard your users data. Why do the installers barf on this?
    Inquiring minds want to know!
