Activation of ERP Datasource

Hi All,
I need to activate DataSource in ERP to be replicated into BI. When I am doing this I get an error as below.
Changes to Repository or cross-client Customizing are not permitted.
Is this an authorization issue with the permissions.

Hi,
Are you working in the right client in the dev ECC system? We should be activating datasources in the customizing client/golden client in ECC dev. The datasources once activated get copied to the client which is connected to BW. Some changes to datasources like enhancements will not be copied accross clients automatically. We then use SCC1 transaction, give the transport number generated while making changes, to copy across clients.

i have activated the standard datasource in r/3 ? and i have replicated the same in the bw system and in the source system of r/3 i have replicated it and i can find the data source there ? but how to identify whether the datasource is active in the bw system or not ?
i cant see a tick mark on the data source does it determine it is active?

When i right click on the data source i can see this option:
1. assign infosource
2. maintain datasource in the source system etc?

Activation of genric datasource warning

hi all,
activation of genric datasource in rsa6 gives warning error.
and the not getting activated . my DS extracts from MARA table.
the warning "The even-numbered length of the DEC field MHDHB can lead to problems"

Its a bug. If you can change the lenght of the field MHDHB to an next odd number this will be solved.

Transporting active version of datasource from DEV to PRD

Hi,
When I transport a 3.x datasource from DEV to PRD, the version I am getting in PRD is 'modified'. In DEV we have both modified and active versions and there's no difference between them. When I try to activate the modified version, it says that I have to maintain the transfer rules associated with the datasource. Then it takes me to the transfer rules display but I am not sure what to do next...how to activate the datasource. How do I get the active version from DEV to PRD?

Error generating/activating WebService BW DataSource

Hello,
I created a BW DataSource using WebService in BI7 and I got the following errors when trying to activate it.
Error generating Web service /BIC/CQZBRSDAT00001000
Message no. RSDS301
Error when activating DataSource ZBRSDATA WEBSERVICE
Message no. RSO404
Could anyone please advise for any inputs/tips for the issue? I found below two threads but the OSS Note 913944 appreantly does not exist anymore (not sure if it is being removed, updated, etc).

Does pure activation of BCT DataSources decrease performance?

Hello,
if I just activate (all) datasources from BCT in an ECC system (without actually using them for data uploading to BW), does this decrease any performance in the ECC? Or is it performance wise neutral as the activation only creates some metadata?

Hi,
keep in mind, that the Data for BW is taken out of the DeltaQueue.
Before the Data achieves the Deltaqueue it is either stored in VBDATA or else in another QRFC-Queue (I call it extraction queue). From where its coming into the Deltaqueue is controlled by the method maintained in the logistics-extractor.
The VBDATA is the table where ALL POSTING RECORDS ARE STORED!
So when you have activated the extractors for logisitcs, all posts of documents in the system (e.g. Sales docs ...) run through the VBDATA as well as the V3-Posts of these documents for R/3.
If the V3-Programs are not scheduled, there will be an overflow to the table and the system is dead, means none can post any documents.
This can only occur if unseralized V3 is chosen.
Delta Queued writes data into the QRFC-Queue.
As long as you haven't run the V3-Programm it will stay there.
The V3-Programm takes the data and writes it to the DeltaQueue for BW.
If no successful init has taken place, the data is gone then.
The request from BW only takes the data out of the delta queue, not out of the extraction queue I've descirbed earlier.

Problem in activating the Hierarchy Datasource for 0CostElmnt

Hello Experts,
Can you please suggest, how to activate the standard hierarchy datasource -0costelement for mapping it to the respective hierarchy (0CostElement). For this I have replicated the datasource and activated using BI Content. But inspite of this, respective datasource is not getting activated in SAP BI.
So can anyone suggest me how to activate the datasource.

Based on your SAP patch level & error message number, y need to apply SAP note to resolve this error. If you provide correct error message, so we can suggest. Try to active business content grouping the before & after words. Sometime dependent objects my missed also y may get inactive in Transfer rules.

InfoSource Activation failing: COPA Datasource Object Version not found

Hi Experts,
I am using BW3.5 & R3 (ECC 5.0) and did::
In BW
1) Installed Business Content
          Cube:         0COPA_C01
          InfoSrc:      0CO_PA_1
In R3
1) I created a new COPA datasource (1_CO_PA500IDEA10)
   and verified data in RSA3.
In BW
2) Replicated the DataSource
3) Created a new Infosource (BB_CO_PA500IDEA10).
4) Editing the new IS, I copied all characteristics
   from the template of the InfoSource 0CO_PA_1.
         a) Assigned my COPA DS (1_CO_PA500IDEA10).
         b) In "Transfer Rules" tab I was able to map
            ALL the IS fields to DS fields.
         c) In "Datasource/Transfer structure" tab
            some fields are left blank (I didn't assign
            any IS characteristics or KeyFigs)
Saved the IS.
BUT Activating the IS is failing with the error:
Object 1_CO_PA500IDEA10 object version not found in table
Message no. RSAR768
A couple of times, I deleted the IS in BW, DS in R3, created them again, replicated, .......with no luck
Any help is appreciated?

I took a look at the RSBASIDOC table entries in BW and ECC systems for the SourceSystems:
   1) ID3CLNT506 - that is working
   2) T20CLNT400 - that is NOT working
I copied some of the fields as a table below. Please take a look. I inserted ** as a field separator to keep the "text fields seperate".
Three relevant fields: BIDOCTYP, SBWBCRL (blank in BW) & RBWBCRL (blank in BW) are not the same between BW & ECC systems - For the problematic T20CLNT400.
Is SBWBCRL - The BW Service API version in ECC ?
Is RBWBCRL - The BW version in BW system ?
I will take a look at the Inbound/Outbound paramaters in WE20 on both BW & ECC.
It seems I am doing all this to convince our BASIS guys that THEY need to FIX the problem.

Error while activating the datasource during migration

Hi Guys,
When we were trying to migrate the datasources from 3.x to BI 7.0, we are encountering an error with the activation of the datasource. The datasource itself has been migrated but the ativation log gives and error

I have reviewed a lot of the online documentation on Service Marketplace and SDN, but still have the following open question:
Is there a comprehensive list of all new SAP ERP datasources, or enhancements to existing datasources, that are available in ERP 60 enhancement packs 1, 2, 3 and 4?
Where can I find this list?
Again, I'm aware of the wealth of documentation on EHPs, but I can't seem to find a quick list of the BI datasource changes for EHPs.

RSA5 DataSource Activation

Hi Experts,
I was trying activation of 0TCTAUTH Datasource from rsa5.
I clicked on it and pressed Activate Datasource.
It got activated.I can see the records in rsa3.But when I replicate it, I cant see the Datasource in BW.
Am i missing any step?

1).RSA5 0TCTAUTH Datasource ACTIVATE the dataosurce.
2).RSA6 which is post processing Data Sources,select 0TCTAUTH Datasource and press trasport button to release from source system.
3)RSA3 which was extractor checkor to check the data
In BW,
1).Goto RSA1 >Select Source System>and say replicate meta data/data source --->> after you gets msgs states like
all tree data structures are refreshed in bw.
2)refresh the screen in BW side and i thk you can find the your 0TCTAUTH Datasource from source system .
I think this will solve you.

They used SO10 transaction code creation of standard text for desired client.

"Source is not Active" when creating DTP from Datasource (BI. 7.0)

I need to load data to ODS from a ZTable. Version 7.0
This is what i have done so far:
- Created a ZTABLE. (OK)
- Loaded data via function modules through excel macros. (OK)
- Created DataSource(ZGDRDS01) from a ZTABLE in RSO2. (I guess OK)
- Create DataTransfer Process - (NOK)
       Source of DTP
         Object Type : DataSource
         DataSource : ZGDRDS01
         Source System: BWD
    - Error Message: Source ZGDRDS01 of BWD(type DTASRC) is not active (like if it didnt exists)
(I didnt find any Activate button in RSO2)
Somebody else did something similar before and created its own DataSource, that one I can use, but i need to create my own.

Did you create Transformation which is a prereq for creating a DTP ?
- No i didnt create the transformation first, but the problem was the same. When I created a Transformation it asks me for the DataSource and back again to "source is not Active".
New problem:
I went to SourceSystem and replicated the datasources,
- Know it appears just below the other one that was previously working.
- However it appears with status Inactive and there is no Activate Button.
- Something went wrong with the version because the column "M = A Version" appears =/=, for my new Datasource. I right click on it -> Replicate Metadata but didnt help. Any other option marks me something lik is not Active or
   "The DataSource ZGDRDS01 (BWD) does not exists in object version A"
if i right clic -> Display
Version = Modified (yellow)
I deleted the datasource and generated it again with the same result.
¿do you know how to fix this?
P.S ¿Should I post a new thread for this problem?

Activating BC Datasource

Hello BW Experts,
steps for activating the BC datasource
1) activate the Datasource1 in rsa5 r/3 system
2) maintain and activate th datasource1 in rsa6 r/3 system
3) replicate the datasource1 in bw system.
please let me know if i am missing any steps. Do we have to even activate the BC datasource in BW Business content BC.

Hi,
Actually, you don't need step 2. After activating DS in RSA5, you can modify it in RSA6. But without it, after RSA5 and replicating in BW, the DS should be available in BW.
When you'll try to assign an infosource to DS, the system will gather the BC objects required for this step and offer to install missing ones. So, BC objects activation will be needed.
Or you can activate infosource with dataflow before and after as A.H.P. suggested.

OBJVERS of datasource 0TCTIOBJTP_TEXT

Hi experts
I am getting a transport error when importing the datasource 0TCTIOBJTP_TEXT from development system to test system.
Datasource is active on ERP side, having D an A as object version, table ROOSOURCE.
Datasource has been replicated in test system but still has only D als object version in table ROOSOURCE.
The datasource itself is active.
The error while transporting this object says that there is no active version of 0TCTIOBJTP_TEXT in test system.
Any ideas?

0TCT* is technical content and should have BW as the source system, not ERP.
It is recommended to install technical content (transaction SPRO) in the target systems (QA/PRD) instead of collecting and transporting from DEV.
