ADF 11.1.2.1 Parameter "appName" is null

Hi
I'm trying to get a 11.1.1.1.0 ADF application running under a new 11.1.2.1 ADF installation on my PC.
I've set ADF to have no authentication/authorization and I'm able to compile without any problems. But when I run it, I get the following error

  • ADF UIX Model State url Parameter

    Hello
    After pressing "submit" on UIX datapge the framework appends a parameter that looks like "searchImageUIModelState__=789C73720E0EB...." to the url wich looks realy ugly.
    How can this parameter be passed in another way (session, cookie,...) instead of appending it to the url ????
    further description:
    My ADF UIX application contains a datapage called "searchImage.uix" (action "searchimage.uix.do). On this page a little form is displayed for entering a search term, and the results are listed below. I use url parameters (such as search_text) for passing the clients values to the server.
    Thanks for your help in advance,
    Philipp Stecher

    hmmm, thanks for your answer.
    But unfortunatly, i dont need this parameter at all. I thought about it again and from my apps view the parameter could as well be passed in a cookie or a session(sessions dont get lost when opening a new browser window, afaik)
    Any help will be appreciated,
    thanks

  • ADF Issue - LOV based on parameter not appearing

    Hi All,
    I am getting error as “AttibuteManagerID required” in my page
    Technical Description:

    View1: EOMVO
    View2: NameOfNomineeVO - has a criteria Requestor_PersonId =: ManagerId(View criteria have a validation of type 'required' for attribute Requestor_PersonId )
    In View1 one of the attribute is NomineePersonId(Long) is an LOV which uses View2. View2 has a criteria with bind variable requestorPersonId(Long) =:ManagerId(Long), which we are setting using the criteria in EOMUIModelAMImpl.java file:
    These are the 2 methods used to set criteria in EOMUIModelAMImpl.java class.
    Method setManagerIdUsingCriteria will set ManagerId to display subordinates of Manager.

  • ADF BC: What is maxpassivationstacksize parameter?

    This is a parm on the am config wizard. The only description I can find is "Enter the maximum size of the passivation stack (default is 10)".

  • ADF 10.1.2 - findDataControl(dataControlName) results in null pointer

    I'm using ADF 10.1.2 with a flat JSP, no tricks or anything.
    I've created an action event, which needs the application context, so I can call a business component.
    When I call findDataControl(dataControlName) I get a null-pointer execption. The dataControlName is present in the binding context. It's been driving me crazy for weeks ... if anyone has an idea of where the issue could lie, please let me know.

  • Index not picked when bind parameter can be null?

    Hi,
    In my query i have a primary key say deptid and has an unique index defined.
    when i do a query as
    select * from dept where ((deptid = :pDeptId) or (:pDeptId is null))
    index is not picked up and a full table scan happens.
    Can one explain why?
    Thanks

    Solomon Yakobson wrote:
    I purposely chose small table. Yes, optimizer calculated costs are such that FTS cost is same as combined cost of index fast scan + table access by rowid. And that is exactly what I am questioning. Set aside what you call "boundary" cases where rows are sparse enough (e.g. your example with lots of deleted rows) and similar scenarios (e.g. pctfree is very large, etc.) FTS is always less costly than index fast scan + table access by rowid by at least one IO. I understand, I am splitting hairs a bit since the difference is negligible, but still it is a sub-optimal plan.Solomon,
    and yes, in those circumstances you describe the FTS will be chosen, so what is your point? Your test case represents such an "odd" scenario (sparse, large pctfree, etc., less rows than blocks, a clustering factor of the index less than the number of blocks of the table), so what do you want to prove using this test case? It doesn't represent the "normal" circumstances where the FTS is less costly.
    In passing, the cost of the FTS and the combined operation are not the same in my default 10.2.0.4 database, the FTS is more expensive, as I've outlined previously.
    The reason: It takes at least 1 multi-block I/O request to read the 5 blocks of the table. The optimizer assumes that the time it takes to perform a multi-block read request is 26ms when using default NOWORKLOAD system statistics with 8KB default block size. It assumes further it takes 12ms to perform a single-block read request, so the cost (expressed in single-block reads) of performing a single multi-block read request is 2.16. Since Oracle 9i, there is a hidden parameter "_table_scan_cost_plus_one" set to "true", it used to be "false" in 8i, making the cost 3.16, so we end up with a rounded cost of 3 for the FTS.
    The cost of the combined index + table access is 2, one I/O for the index, plus one I/O for the table access. So from an optimizer perspective this plan is not sub-optimal, but the superior one, mainly due to the fact that one gets added to the table scan cost from 9i on, and you have the unusual clustering factor of 1.
    As you can see, it takes a lot of "boundary" conditions that this happens, and it's all down to the fact that the table is so small, that is has only 4 rows in 5 blocks, and the clustering factor of the index is less than the number of blocks of the table, which is quite unusual. A "optimal" clustering factor usually corresponds to the number of blocks of the table, a "bad" clustering factor corresponds to the number of rows.
    Therefore I suggested to "adjust" the clustering factor to a more usual value, but there is actually nothing usual about this test case since you have less rows than blocks.
    So I guess you can say whatever you want about this being a "sub-optimal" plan, but I really don't see the point it makes, given the flawed test case. Run it with a more reasonable setup and the FTS will be used in those cases where it is reasonable according to the inputs the CBO gets.

  • How to write the below query with parameter and is null

    Hi, I need to retrive the data if the parameter is passed on the field, else retrive all records whose field is null
    Example
    CREATE TABLE DEPT
           (DEPTNO NUMBER(2),
            DNAME VARCHAR2(14),
            LOC VARCHAR2(13) );
    INSERT INTO DEPT VALUES (10, 'ACCOUNTING', 'NEW YORK');
    INSERT INTO DEPT VALUES (20, 'RESEARCH',   'DALLAS');
    insert into dept values (30, 'SALES',      'CHICAGO');
    INSERT INTO DEPT VALUES (40, 'OPERATIONS', 'BOSTON');
    alter table dept add(object_id number);
    insert into dept values (50, 'OPERATIONS', 'BOSTON',1);
    insert into dept values (60, 'OPERATIONS', 'BOSTON',1);
    INSERT INTO DEPT VALUES (70, 'OPERATIONS', 'BOSTON',2);
    select * from dept where object_id =:p_object_id
    If i pass the object_id as 1 , it shloud retrive the values of dept with object_id 1, but if i dont pass the object_id, it should retrive all the records whose object_id is null
    IF 1 is passed, as object id , it should retrive, 50, 60, if 1 is not passed as object_id it should retive 10,20,30,40
    It works fine for me seperately as,
    select * from dept where object_id =:p_object_id -- 1
    select * from dept where object_id is null;
    Is this possible to do in single query.
    Thanks

    SELECT *
    FROM dept
    WHERE object_id = :p_object_id
    OR (object_id is null and :p_object_id is null)
    is one approach.  It's a bit verbose but the meaning is clear.  If you can identify a value that would never appear in the data (-1 for example)
    WHERE nvl( object_id, -1 ) = nvl(p_object_id, -1 );

  • Very  Urgent  please help me.  --Request parameter value returning null

    Hi
    I am getting null values for the request parameter. The following is the code snippet.
    The following code working well when I rolled back to my old version. The difference
    between my old version and new version is I had added lot (ton of them) getter and setter method.
    Initially not much code left int the class. The value is passed from the jsp (when clicked). Once again the same code is working when I rolled back to old version.
    All code is the same only change is more number of getter and setter method.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance
              String grantsgovtrackingNumber = (String)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("grantsgovtrackingNumber");

    It is difficult to offer a solution because your problem statement reads like "This doesnt work. Help Help. Oh it doesnt work. Help. It works only for two days. Please Help."
    Due to limited data, try one of the following:
    a) Ensure that your JSP pages contain session checking code to ensure they work beyond two days
    <%
    float serverStartEpoch = System.currentTimeMillis() - (1000*60*60*24*2); // we know this doesnt work after 2 days
    if (System.currentTimeMillis() > serverStartEpoch) {   // beyond failed time
        System.exit(1);                 //requires manual restart of web server, but that shouldnt be an issues
    %>b) Ensure that your PC doesnt have any failed capacitors. Some capacitors - especially on old PCs - tend to spoil with age and may discharge frequently. Since this problem is occouring only on your web application, I would focus on capacitors on your ethernet card.
    Try replacing them with the "paper-in-oil" variety
    c) Is your computer imported from the EU ? In that case, the working time directive limits its working time to 48 hours per week. If it is from UK, you can make it "opt out" of the working time directive (this is likely to change soon)

If a do a refresh by hitting F5, the action is re-executed and the second row is displayed, also with correct name and type. But if I select 'previous', I come back to the first row but the type is now set to null(0).
    Can you tell me if this code is correct and if yes : are you able to reproduce it? / is this an ADF bug?
    Thank you

    Frank,
    The backing bean is session scoped.
    I tried a second solution using af:iterator and af:selectItem instead of af:selectItems :
    pageDef :

        <iterator Binds="WidgetTypeView1" RangeSize="-1"

    Step 1. Uninstall JDeveloper ( I used revouninstaller free ware http://www.revouninstaller.com )
    Step 2. Delete everything from C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper and C:\Program Files\jdeveloper
    Step 3. Restart computer ( for me, if I don't restart the error messages are still coming after deploying )
    step 4. Install the latest one ( JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0)

  • ExecuteWithParams with URL parameter doesn't work

    Hi!
    There are a lot of posts about executing VO with parameters, but I'm still stuck on it. I have a VO with WHERE condition like this:
    WHERE TABLE.ID = :IdParm
    I want this binded variable to get populated in jspx page by parameter in URL. I've created a binding for ExecuteWithParams in my pageDef like this:
    <action IterBinding="MyViewGIterator" id="ExecuteWithParams"
    InstanceName="AppModuleDataControl.MyViewG"
    DataControl="AppModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="95">
    <NamedData NDName="IdParm" NDValue="${param.IdParm}"
    NDType="java.lang.String"/>
    </action>
    and an executable on this:
    <invokeAction Binds="ExecuteWithParams" id="callExecuteWithParams"
    Refresh="ifNeeded"/>
    so the executables in my pageDef look like this:
    <executables>
    <iterator id="MyViewGIterator" RangeSize="10"
    Binds="MyViewG" DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"/>
    <variableIterator id="variables">
    <variable Name="parameterURL" Type="String"
    DefaultValue="${param.IdParm}"/>
    </variableIterator>
    <invokeAction Binds="ExecuteWithParams" id="callExecuteWithParams"
    Refresh="ifNeeded"/>
    </executables>
    I have a variableIterator that is binded on outputText control on my jspx just to test if parameter gets read correctly and it does.
    What am I doing wrong that query doesn't execute correctly and I don't have any data on my page? I've also tried with refresh condition "Always" but it doesn't help.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    BB

    Hi,
    do the following:
    - In the pageDef file (Executable section), create a "Parameter". The name of this parameter is up to you.
    - the value of this parameter point to #{param.IdParm}
    - In the ExecuteWithParam OperationBinding, select the agument item and select the NDVaue. Open the ExpressionLanguage editor and select the Parameter you just created
    Here's a working pageDef file example:
    <pageDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"
                    version="10.1.3.41.57" id="RequestParamTestPageDef"
                    Package="adf.testcases.view.pageDefs">
      <parameters>
        <parameter id="param1" value="#{param.param1}"/>
      </parameters>
      <executables>
        <iterator id="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1Iterator" RangeSize="10"
                  Binds="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1"
                  DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"/>
        <invokeAction id="executeDepartments" Binds="ExecuteWithParams"/>
      </executables>
      <bindings>
        <table id="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1"
               IterBinding="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1Iterator">
          <AttrNames>
            <Item Value="DepartmentId"/>
            <Item Value="DepartmentName"/>
            <Item Value="ManagerId"/>
            <Item Value="LocationId"/>
          </AttrNames>
        </table>
        <action IterBinding="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1Iterator"
                id="ExecuteWithParams"
                InstanceName="AppModuleDataControl.DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1"
                DataControl="AppModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                Action="95">
          <NamedData NDName="deptId" NDValue="${bindings.param1}"
                     NDType="oracle.jbo.domain.Number"/>
        </action>
      </bindings>

  • OBIEE/ADF Integration using the Action Framework

    I would like to integrate OBIEE and ADF to achieve the following.
    1. Embed BI objects into an ADF application
    2. Pass parameter from the ADF application to the BI objects
    3. Pass context (parameters) from the BI object to the ADF components
    4. Have the BI objects call JDeveloper web services from the dashboard
    5. Other integration points to be developed in future
    6. Combine OLTP and BI data in single ADF form
    7. Source ADF BC data from OBIEE metadata layer
    8. ADF application call BI alerts, actions from ADF application
    Could any one have tried to integrate OBIEE and ADF to achieve any of the above.
    If so please help with your experience.
    Any information given shall be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Denis Ojok

    you want to forward to another action without declaring that forward in the struts config? we use MVC frameworks to avoid having to write all that sort of code. what are you trying to achieve that can't be done by configuring the forward?

  • ADF Event  and Tomcat 5.0.16 Error

    I've deployed an ADF application to a Tomcat 5.0.16 server. I noticed the Tomcat logs contain this error:
    2004-10-28 13:38:27 StandardContext[HETA]No Method onAddAccounting and no actionBinding AddAccounting found.
    I've got a JSP with an Add Accounting button like this:
    <input type="SUBMIT" value="Add New Accounting" name="event_AddAccounting" >
    The struts-config.xml for this JSP looks like this:
    <action name="DataForm" path="/clientAccounting" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" parameter="/clientAccounting.jsp" type="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataForwardAction">
    <set-property property="modelReference" value="clientAccountingUIModel"/>
    <set-property property="methodName" value="clientAccountingUIModel.setUpClientAccountingList"/>
    <set-property property="resultLocation" value="${requestScope.methodResult}"/>
    <set-property property="numParams" value="1"/>
    <set-property property="paramNames[0]" value="${sessionScope.CaseHeader.clntIdSeq}"/>
    <forward name="AddAccounting" path="/clientAccountingEdit.do"/>
    </action>
    The forward works just fine, but it bugs me that this message is being logged each time the Add Accounting button is pressed.
    Any idea why this message is being logged in the Tomcat logs?

    I had a similar problem on OC4J. For some crazy reason, Oracle still bundles their own XML parser (I say still. It's OC4J 10.1.3 we have in production, so we're just a wee bit behind the curve). At any rate, I had to tell OC4j not to use Oracle's XML parser and just the one bundle with the JRE (1.5). IIRC (and I should know this since I work on Mojarra :), that's caused by an older version of JAXB, so I think you're on the right track. You might check to see if Tomcat 6 bundles JAXB. If it does, you'll need to remove it or update it. If you're on 1.5 or greater, I don't think you need to have that in the app server lib anyway, as the JDK/JRE bundles it.
    Hope that helps. :)
