Alternate Sequences

hi,
how i can maintain alternate sequences while doing long term planning.
pavna

Dear Madhu,
Is it only a manual decision whether to process the operations in-house or else to be sent to the external party or is it based on
the lot size say if the order quantity is for more than 100 it's to be given to the external party means then define a lot size for
the alternative sequence for a lot size rangining from 101 to 9999999(For example).
In this case during order creation the system copies the alternative sequences automatically.
Check whether this works out for your requirement or not.

• Alternate Sequences in Routing?

Dear Guru's,
In our production process some of the operation we will perform externally by sending it to vendor. For this we are maintaining the alternate sequences in routing. So, when ever we want send the material to vendor to perform the external operation will exchange the sequence in routing.
So, in some cases we have to do it in mass. I hope is there any t-code or any other way to do it.
Need valuable inputs please.
Thanks & Regards,

• Confirmation in alternate sequence

Hi
System proposes wrong qty to confirm after alternate sequence confirmation.
op 10 - 10 ea
op20 - 5 ea op11 - 5 ea(parallel)
op30 - 10ea
In confirmation, after i confirm op10 for 10 ea, i confirm
Case A: op20 - 4 ea (Final confirmation), op11 - 3ea (Partial)
system proposal for op30 is 8ea
Case B: op20 - 4 ea (Partial), op11 - 3ea(Partial)
System proposal for op30 is 6ea
why it is not proposing 7 ea for op30.

Dear,
In OPK4 check the following
Operation sequence = Operation sequence not checked....then do confirmation it will work as required by you.

• Alternate Sequence operation confirmation ...

hi folks ,
i have 3 operation in STD seq like 10, 20, 30
and for the std sequence thr is alternate seq. which contain alternate operation for
20 th operation of STD.
FOR operation 20 now :
In STD seq only one activity Machine time required for 1 item to process is 10 min.
In ALT seq only one activity Machine time required for 1 item to process is 5 min.
when i am confirming the 20 operation in CO11 the time required for the opr 20in ALT seq opr. 20 is not appering on the QTY / YIELD .
regards

Hi,
You can cross-check in the production order, operation overview whether the operation 20 is that of the alternative sequence. If not when you create the production order the sytem will inform that alt. seq exist. Here you have to choose the alt.seq.
Also check the settings in the confirmation parameters (opk4).
Propose qty/standard value is to be selected.

• Alternate sequence with no "return" operation

Hello PP experts,
I have a routing with already a ALT sequence and no "branch" operation for the same, only my return oper is configured (this is a kind of converging routing).
I tried to enter an ALT sequence without a "return" operation but in this case it is not authorized.
Seams "branch" operation can be optional, but "return" is mandatory.
Can you please confirm/advise how I could simply model a "diverging" routing sequence (going out of my main routing branch and no return on it).
Thanks

Thanks for your answer but this does not solve my pb.
To me there are 2 business case which can lead to model a // or ALT sequence in addition to a main seq.
1) As per your explanation, it is a need to increase and optimize the throughput based on lot size.
OR
2) In my case it is regardless of lot size and throughput, but it is to model a manufacturing process that needs to have a main sequence for production, then based upon some process triggers, to "branch out" the main sequence and terminate this process in a different way based on those triggers results.
I already model one of my biz case where I need a main sequence on my routing, and this main seq is then joined by an ALT seq on a particular operation (my return operation). In that case usage of alternative seq with "branch oper = empty" and "return operation = 0040" is working well and fits my needs.
Seams to do the reverse, that is to leave my "return operation = empty" is not allowed.
Thanks,
Franck

• Alternative sequences cannot be released

Operations in alternative sequences cannot be released
Message no. CO224
im getting error msg while realease alternate sequence operation .
for my alternate sequence operation Branch operation 0020 and return operation 0030.
as of now my first operation confirmed .
im trying to release my aternate sequence operation (as a second operation)
Not all operations were released (see log)
Message no. C2038
once i see the log it showing the first above msg
wat will be the problem.???

Prakash,
You must be talking about parallel sequences. Alternative sequences are the part of routing only. While order creation, one of the alternate sequence gets copied.
By the way if not all the parallel seuences are released, you can release them separately also at sequence level or at operation level.
1. Go to sequence overview, select the desired sequence & click on the green flag.
2. Go to operation overview of the desired sequence, select all the operation & click on the green flag in the bottom. Your problem will be solved.
Hope this helps you

• Sequence Selection in Production Order

Hi All,
I am having following problem related to the sequence selected in production order...
In my scenario there are multiple sequences in a routing for a material. In the production Order Type I have made setting of manual selection of sequence while creation of production order. When I create production order the system ask for selection of the alternate sequence and after selecting the alternate sequence the system copies all the data related to that sequence But when I go and see the operation overview the system still displays the standard sequence. How can I correct this problem because when I am doing confirmation the system throws error message than the standard sequence 0 does not exist.
Please help me correct this problem.
Regards,
Anup Dubey

Hi,
As i have mentioned the system is asking me select alternate sequence it means that the tick is there.
Please lemme know why the system is displaying the standard sequenec in operation overview though all the details related to operation are of alternate sequence.

• Alternative sequence - operations number

Hi all,
I've got an issue on the alternative sequence.
The standard sequence is made by operation 10, 20 and 30.
I try to add a new alternative sequence to substitute the operation 20 with 2 different operations: 20 and 25.
The system give me an error on the routing: CP331 - Operation: date 28.04.2010: operation number incorrect.
I tried the option to change the standard sequence to 10, 20 and 40, but the error is the same. The system checks the return operation (20) and is not possible to add operations into the alternative sequence with operations number greater than return operation.
It seems that is not possible to substitute 1 operation with 2 operations.
Anyone has solved?
Thanks, regards.

Hi ,
Okay, you want to create an alternaive sequence only.
Standard sequence is 10 20 30
Alternate Sequence:
1.Branch operation : 10
Number of the operation from which an alternative sequence is to replace the reference sequence.
2. Return operation: 30
(number of the operation up to which an alternative sequence is to replace the reference sequence)
Operations: 20, 25
This should work.
Please check and confirm.

• Golden Gate Sequence Value replication?

Hi all,
I have searched the web, and read the Golden Gate documentation but I've found mixed answers.
I'm just trying to ascertain for certain whether it's possible to automatically replicate sequence values in a bi-directional configuration. Both databases will be identical and both will be 11gR2 with the latest version of GG.
If it is not possible to automatically increment sequences in a bi-directional configuration, what are the best practices for maintaing them?
One option is the alternate sequences on each database, one with even values (for example) and one with odd values, but this requires deployment of new sequences on both databases, something we were hoping would be taken care of by the replication. (yes the sequence creation can be taken care of but the value is not incremented on the target database).
another way that we thought of off the top of our heads is to have an on insert trigger (we only use sequences to generate surrogate keys) which will select nextval from the target database via a db link, but this seems somewhat cumbersome.
What is best practice?

Use sequence parameter... here is from Golden gate document:
SEQUENCE
Valid for Extract
Use the SEQUENCE parameter to extract sequence values from the transaction log forpropagation to a GoldenGate trail and delivery to another database. Currently, GoldenGate supports sequences for the Oracle database.
NOTE DDL support for sequences (CREATE, ALTER, DROP, RENAME) is compatible with, but not required for, replicating sequence values. To replicate just sequence values, you do not need to install the GoldenGate DDL support environment. You can just use the SEQUENCE parameter.
GoldenGate ensures that the values of a target sequence are:
● higher than the source values if the increment interval is positive
● lower than the source values if the increment interval is negative
Depending on the increment direction, Replicat applies one of the following formulas as a test when it performs an insert:
source_highwater_value + (source_cache_size * source_increment_size * source_RAC_nodes) <= target_highwater_value
Or...
source_highwater_value + (source_cache_size * source_increment_size * source_RAC_nodes) >= target_highwater_value
If the formula evaluates to FALSE, the target sequence is updated to be higher than the source value (if sequences are incremented) or lower than the source value (if sequences are decremented). The target must always be ahead of, or equal to, the expression in the parentheses in the formula. For example, if the source highwater value is 40, and CACHE is 20, and the source INCREMENTBY value is 1, and there are two source RAC nodes, the target highwater value should be at least 80:
40 + (20*1*2) <80
If the target highwater value is less than 80, GoldenGate updates the sequence to increase the highwater value, so that the target remains ahead of the source. To get the current highwater value, perform this query:
SELECT last_number FROM all_sequences WHERE sequence_owner=upper('SEQUENCEOWNER') AND sequence_name=upper('SEQUENCENAME');

• Sequence dependent setup (setuo matrix) with pooled capacity

Hi all,
We are facing a problem in the sequence dependent setup. We have a pooled capacity in ECC on which we want sequence dependent setup happening in APO. In APO orders are required to be scheduled on this resource and this resource is the primary resource. When I am trying to do the Detailed scheduling the time from the matrix is the one in which there is no predecessor.
Is sequence dependent setup not possible with pooled resource. Is it the standard system behaviour or am I missing something here.
Thanx for the help.

Insted of making pooled capacity you better try with alternate sequence.
system is behaving properly.

• Sequence selection in Rate Routing

hi,
In Normal Routing in sequence overview - extras - new entries we can find the option of creating a Parallel or Alt sequence, but in Rate routing there is no way to select the type of Sequence. It by default shows Parallel sequence.
Pl. let me know the step by step proceduer to create a Alternate sequence in Rate routing.
regards

Dear Rishi,
We cant create any alternative sequence for a rate routing. This is one of the difference between routing and rate routing.
Rate routing supports only standard and parallel sequence.
If alternative sequence is present in a routing, then at the time of order creation the system gives a pop to select for alternative
sequence or to skip it and proceed.
For this under OPL8,for plant order type combination the field sequence exchange should be having value 2 - manual selection.
Creating production version or sequence in my understanding depends on the business requirement.
Check and revert

• Can't use MS keyboard to change startup sequence

I'm using a MS Ergonomic Natural Keyboard 4000 with my Mac Pro (10.6.1); I can't select alternate sequences during the startup (Option to choose the startup device, or Cmd-Shift-Option-Delete to automatically select a FW external drive).
One place told me that third-party devices weren't recognized early enough in the startup sequence to change the startup drive, this is sort of what MS also told me, they said I needed to make sure the USB keyboard option (or something similarly named) was activated in the BIOS…(do Macs even have BIOS?)
Anyway if someone knows of a workaround (other than changing the startup drive in the System Preferences) that would be great.

That ability is reserved for Macs that don't already have a built-in optical drive.
I bet you probably looked at some of the guides online telling you to edit a plist file that supposedly unlocks the ability to create a bootable USB drive on a Mac that has a SuperDrive. But that's all it does. It doesn't change anything else about the process of Boot Camp Assistant creating the partition and requiring installation be done with the SuperDrive. All that modification does is literally "un-gray" a checkbox.
Is it annoying that the SuperDrive must be used? No doubt, especially since this restriction was in not in place for older Macs. This is something that Apple would have to address via an SMC or other update, but the odds of that happening are less than those of you winning the Power Ball. It's a restriction you'll have to live with, unless you want to "upgrade" to a Retina display model.

• No relation in PLPO for alternate routing.....

• Alternate Routings

hi
How the alternate routings are created ,
By going sequence view in Routing ,there I have to select alternate sequence am I correct ,
Alternate sequence is same as Alternate Routing
Is there any other way to create Alternate Routing?
Thanx in advance

Hi Karthik,
Alternate sequence is different from alternate routings
If you wnat to create alternate routing just enter into ca01 tcode
enter material/plant/group no & proceed further as you normally do
You can find the unique value against group counter for each routing, whereas group no will remain the same
Alternate sequence is just to differ from the standard sequence in the same routing
pls find belwo the details of alternative seq from sap help
You use an alternative sequence for example, if
The production flow is different for certain lot-size ranges
For instance you can machine a work piece on conventional machine or on NC machines. A NC machine has a longer set-up time than a conventional machine. However the machining costs are considerably less. Therefore whether you use NC machines will depend on the lot size.
The production flow changes under certain business conditions.
For instance, if you have a capacity problem, you have some production steps performed externally by a vendor.
Hope this is useful

• Alternate modes in PPDS

Dear Friends,
i have created alternate sequence in ECC this is transferred to APO as modes. when planning in APO it takes standard sequence always for planning. now my requirement is if the load is already there for the standard sequence/mode the system has to automatically schedule to the alternate sequence. but now this can be done only manually which my client is not accepting. Pls let me know if there is anyway where we can overcome this problem.

transaction is /sapapo/cdpsc5, you can copy from optimisation profile sap001,
you can use at it is sap001 also.
after you open the optimisation proflie you can explore the functionality.
but i think you dont need to change anything expect optimisation horizon.
you can call this optimisation in last step of planning run.
if you further need any help please revert back.
