Analytic services 11 installation

I'm trying to install Analytic Services on my laptop, so that i can play with it at home.
What are the applications/components that i need on my laptop prior to Analytic Services installation?

1. If you want to install essbase and work on your laptop. I would first recommend you to work on the compatible OS , not on XP's or vistas.
2. Secondly, you can download the software from oracle e delivery website

The link below describes how to scale SharePoint Web Front-End with only web applications and the search query server out of one SharePoint server with all roles running.

Now you have two SharePoint server with:
Tier 1 – SharePoint Server dedicated as a Web Front-End (WFE) with only the web application(s) and the search query service running on it
Tier 2 – SharePoint Server dedicated as an Application Server with all of the other service applications running on it, but no web applications or query service
Tier 3 – SQL Server for the databases
Then you would scale out WFE server with web applications from tier1. Now please install a new SharePoint server and join it to the existing farm and deploy it as Web Front Server. Enable the relevant services on Web Front servers per the topology picture
below, and stop the services running on the old server.

Analytical Services failed to get user's parent group tree with Error

Hi,
We have a frequent errror during our weekly batch for an application.
The context:
- Essbase Administration Services we are using is version is 9.3.1.
- 8 applications are calculated during the week-end. The scripts executed are exactly the same for the 8 applications.
- For example let's say that 5 scripts are launched during the night in the batch for each application (script 1, script 2 ... script 5)
- App1 and App2 are launched alone and before the 6 others applications as these applications database are 3 x bigger (App1 is calculated alone, then app2 is calculated alone, then app3 to app8 scripts are launched in the same time).
The issue :
- We don't see any issue for app3 to app8, the calculation are executed without any problem from script1 to script5.
- But we have an error in App1 and App2 log when the bath execute script 4 and we see the following error in the server log **
"Analytical Services failed to get user's parent group tree with Error".
(** : we don't see any log for script 4 in the application log - it's like the server bypass script 4 to go directly from script 3 to script 5 )
Nothing special is done in script 4 but just an aggregation of the Year dimension (using a @SUM(@RELATIVE(Year,0)) calculation.
I think that there is may be a synchronization error with Shared Services but what is strange is that it's always for the same script 4 and the batch is launched at different time every week-end.
Can the issue be linked to the size of the database of applications (8 Gb) and difficulties for the processor to executes aggregation in a large database volume ?

According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when sending an email to the user in workflow.
Did you delete the existing Connections before setting NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled?
If not, I recommend to delete and recreate your AD connections, then set NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled to true.
Or you can delete the original User Profile Service Application and create a new one, then set the NetBiosDomainNamesEnabled to true and start the User Profile Service Application
synchronization.

Any known issues with Unicode apps in System 9 Analytic Services ?

We have installed System 9.2.0.2 Analytic Services on an AIX server. It was installed as a non-Unicode server. I am exploring enabling the server for Unicode, and then setting non-ASO apps to Unicode enabled. We don't need multi-lingual features, but we would like to be able to have calc scripts, report scripts, and load rules with names more than 8 characters long. Apparently, during the planning for upgrading to System 9, a consultant advised against setting Unicode on. But no specifics were given on why he advised against it. Is anyone aware of any downsides to Unicode enabled ? I know that ASO apps can't use it, but the server is supposed to support having some apps running in Unicode mode and others not. It's understood that if you have a Unicode app, and it needs to switch to ASO, that any long names would require name changes. The thing I'm wondering is why that consultant said that, so I wonder if anyone knows of issues. If no issues are known, than can anyone who is running Unicode mode in System 9.2 speak up and tell me that they are doing fine with no issues ?

Connecting to MS Analytical Services cubes from Oracle

Is it possible for Oracle to connect and retreive data from a Microsoft Analytical Services cube?
We have a requirement to use the agregated data from a MS Analytical Services cube in Oracle.
I can think of two ways to do this:
1. Connect to the MS Analytical Services cube from Oracle.
2. Transfer the cube from MS Analytical Services into the Oracle OLAP engine.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Others can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it is possible to connect directly to a MS AS cube from Oracle.
However, is the base data for your MS AS cube in MS SQL Server too? If so, it is definitely possible to connect to SQL Server and load this data into Oracle.

We have OAS as our App Server and created a OC4j instance for HSS.
We then installed Essbase,registered with HSS and externalized the users to HSS. Also installed EAS along with it.
However launching Essbase we get the following error message

Any Ideas on whats going wrong here?

Hyperion shared services error 1051522 - Analytical Services failed to get

Hi All,
When I am trying to resync my securioty from HSS 11.1.1.1 to my essbase 9.3.1 I am getting this folowing error.
hyperion shared services error 1051522 - Analytical Services failed to get group's member tree with Error MSAD porvider could not be contacted
I have already checked for any corrupt application on essbase but alll the esssbase apps are fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cannot register Analytic Services with Shared Services

Hello,
I have installed the following products of System 9.3:
- License server and Shared services (everything went OK, I can connect to User Management Console using admin/password );
- Analytic Services;
Using Configuration Utlity I activated Analytic Services.
But when I try to Register Analytic Services with Shared Services I get the following error "Incorrect username and password".
I don't know why I get this error because I can connect to User Management Console with admin/password.

I created the user demo/demo with admin privileges in Shared Services. I can connect to User Management Console, but when trying to register Analytic Services with Shared Services I still get "Incorrect username or password".

Registration of Analytic Services with Shared Services

Hello All,
We are installing the Hyperion system 9.2 suite with Planning & Essbase.
Following advised processes, we installed analytic services & tried to register the product with shared services, using the configuration utility. Even though the operation is declared as "succeded", we are unable to provision any user to Analytic services in Shared services, which is a proof that the registration failed.
Is there any particular action to be done to get this operation succeeded?

Hi,
We want to externalize users from native to shared services.
Note: The Enviornment is UNIX.
Following activities were carried out from our end.
1. Configured database. (Oracle)
2. Registered with shared services.
3. Deployed to Application server. (Tomcat)
4. Ensured that administration services are up after registration.
5. Ensured shared services are working fine.
6. Backed up .sec files, config files and bak files from bin directory and deleted all users except admin user from the
mgt console.
7. We then went on to externalize the users from the Console. This did not succeed.
Error message given was:-
Error 1051429. Analytical services Product Existent check Fails
against the shared services server with error. [Unable to connect to
shares services , make sure the shared services is running and try
again.]
When we did not succeed we went to user management console and created a new user , gave it all rights and then tried externalizing that user. But that too failed.
More things done were :-
1 Changed the netdelay settings in config to 3 hours.
2 Set unix server time with shared services time in sync.
3 Re-Registered the Analytical Services as above.
4 Using management console established sync with analytic services (thru mgt console).
Nothing works. Hope someone shall provide a solution soon.

Just check whether services called 'OpenLdap' and 'Shared Service' are running or not if not then please start them and then try to externize users.

     We have a problem in Essbase 9.3.0.1. Some time, when we try to start the Essbase Server, is not possible to complete the startup sequence with the following error in Essbase.log:

I tried to start Essbase Server many times, but only after restart Shared Services was possible to start Essbase Server with success.
     I checked the connectivity with OpenLdap (through LDAP Browser), Shared Services repository (through SQL*Plus), Shared Services and MSAD Provider and everything is OK.
     Our environment is:

Error while starting Analytical Services

I am getting following error while strating Analytical services (AIX machine)

try remove security and start essbase in native mode
you can use this steps
1) backup essbase.sec
1a) backup (copy) you production app from %ARBORPATH%/app
2) cd %ARBORPATH%/bin
rm - f essbase.sec
3) vi essbase.cfg
- find strings
CssSyncLevel
SharedServicesLocation
AuthenticationModule
put ";" on the first columns on strings
4) start essbase and create new admin

Essbase Analytic Service on Windows 2003 Server won't start

A sytstems admin pushed a lot of updates onto the production Essbase and Shared Services servers last night. This morning the Hyperion S9 BI+ Analytic Services 9.3.1 service on the Essbase Server will not start. Log error says:

Analytical Services Product Existence Check Fails against the Shared Services Server with Error []
Numerous products (.NET Framework, Internet Explorer, etc) were updated as well as routine hotfixes and security patches. Is there a conflict with a particular version or is there a resolution to the error indicated in the log?
I did restore a .SEC file from before the updates were done, no resolution.

Hi,
Seems to be issue with the timing of starts on Shared Service and Essbase Services.
Try to check in to the complete error file on Essbase, Shared Services to verify whats making the essbase service not to start.
You can try to verify into the below dissucssion which shows resolution on this kind of issue.

OSM Service Studio installation in eclipse - missing files in installpack

Hello,
we are trying to install the neccessary updates in eclipse according to the document "Oracle Communications Studio Version 3.0.0" to run OSM Service Studio.
however eclipse complain: "Service Studio for Order and Service Management Integration (1.0.0.v200805122103-b276) requires plug-in "com.mslv.studio.activation (3.0.0)", or compatible." when we try to install com.mslv.studio.provisioning.integration.feature_1.0.0.v200805122103-b276.jar from a local install site.
When I look i the documentation on page 20 I realise that the following modules are missing in the downloaded file with updates V13266-01.zip (provided from edelivery.oracle.com):
(1) Service Studio for Activation 3.0.0
(2) Service Studio for Activation SRT 3.0.0
(3) Service Studio for Inventory 1.0.1
Have somebody else had this problem and solved it?

Goal:
Where can one find the Service Creation Environment (a.k.a. Service Studio) files for Activation and Inventory?
The documentation states that these components are necessary:
(1) Service Studio for Activation
(2) Service Studio for Activation SRT
(3) Service Studio for Inventory
Solution:
Download the "Oracle Communications Service Creation Environment x.x Software and Documentation" package from each Media Pack on eDelivery.Oracle.com :
(Activation) Oracle Communications ASAP
(Inventory) Oracle Communications Unified Inventory Management
(Provisioning) Oracle Communications Order and Service Management
Search on Oracle Communications products.
Maybe this will help. However after choosing the Oracle Communications product line and platform as Sun Solaris(64-bit), it listing did not show the aforementioned package. You may as well try. Do let me know if you are able to download the package.

Symbian Anna Service Pack installation cancelled i...

How can I check if I have the service pack installed correctly?
In Applications - SW Update - Options - View Update History I see:
Symbian Anna service pack - Installation cancelled
In Settings - Phone - Phone management - Device Updates I have:
Release: Symbian Anna
Software version: 022.014
In App Manager - Installed applications - Logs the last entries are:
Metadata System Upgrade - Installed
Java Runtime Update (2.0) - Installed
Conversation Server 1.58 - Installed
messaging 1.59(0) - Installed
Am I missing any components? Do you all have service pack cancelled? Is there any way to reinstall service pack? Cannot see it in updates or in Nokia Suite.

when you click on the "software update" icon, after the check don't you see the option to reinstall?
