Apex4 does not render readonly attribute properly for IE.

I found that Apex4 renders the readonly attribute with an extra quotation mark for IE. So I get this:
"readonly="readonly"
And it doesn't work, obviously. For Firefox, all is good.
The simplest solution seems to be to just leave the Disabled attribute set to No and manually add "readonly=true" to the "HTML Form Element Attributes" field.

yes that is a problem on our known issue list http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/40-known-issues-159870.html and will be fixed in our upcoming patchset 4.0.1. Actually the release candidate for this patchset has already been installed on apex.oracle.com. So there you should not be able to reproduce the problem anymore.

I have an active AppleID that has typo in name so Email can not be verified???? Help

I changed the Primary email for an appleid. There was a typo in the email address. this makes the appleid waiting for verification. I spent five and a half hours with support before they understood the problem. Once we both were talking about the same thing, we successfully reset the password and I was able to apply updates/upgrades to Apps. I followed supports instructions which is not how I normally update my second appleid apps. Their instructions caused the active support chat session to be terminated and no log was produced. This being my first time with chat support I did not know how to reestablish the connection. I applied all the pending updates to apps. Once that was compile I performed maintenance to the apple and corrected the primary email address. I DID NOT KNOW THAT ALSO CHANGES THE APPLEID. it set status back to waiting for verification. I'm locked out again. Before I spend more time with support, I need to ask other users if they know how to fix this. I think I know a way from everything we did that day, but would like some users to also say how it can be done. The reason it took so long before was support did not believe what I reported as error messages and generated email text. If you have found a way to do this Please reply. . I will then have information so hopefully support will listen to me and not take more than a short time to resolve. If no one knows a way to fix this, I will try to identify all apps affected and backup data, delete app and rebuy with my working appleid. Yes I now know the importance and mess created when appleid primary email is change. Thank you in advance. .

How can I correct a typo in my email address when setting up a sync account?

I was trying to create a "sync" account in Firefox for Android, and typoed when keying in the email address I wanted to use. I realized it at the page where it said that it was going to send me an email for me to confirm. But there's no way to correct the misspelling in the email address. I tried starting over (exiting out of sync), but when I go back into sync, the silly thing keeps going back to the page I was last at in an attempt to continue using the misspelled email address (which, of course, I won't be able respond to--I tried tapping in the box with the misspelled email address, but it doesn't allow me to correct the misspelling)
I would just like to trash the entire sync setup process and start all over from scratch. How can I do this?

Do you have any important/needed bookmarks, passwords, or history that you would like to keep? If not, then the easiest way would be to go to android's settings--apps-- and then tap on firefox--and then press "clear data". WARNING: This will reset Firefox to it's default settings, like when it was just installed. This should clear up everything and you should start over from scratch.
If you need to keep your Firefox profile (a.k.a. bookmarks, history, passwords, etc.) Then please let us know.

I have two Apple ids but one was a typo, how do I get rid of it?

i have two Apple IDS. One was a typo and I cannot get rid of the email. The right email is there, but when I go to update the wrong email shows up, and I do not know the password to it. How do i get rid of it?

What did you do with the Apple IDs? Did you download content with the bad ID? Apple does not provide a way to merge IDs, so if you did things with the bad ID, the only thing you can do is delete that content and download it with the correct one.

How can I find my apple ID name? I changed it to something with a typo and now I cannot log in.

I changed the email account from an old email address to a new email address about a month ago. I couldn't log back into the account, and when I tried to retrive the password (which I did not change) the website said that no apple ID existed under either the old email or the new email.
I then made a second apple ID to be able to talk to customer support. This is my second, empty, worthless ID with no purchases in it, not the one I'm trying to recover. I emailed apple support and, after a month of her giving me directions on how to change my second, worthless ID around to the username I wanted, I sent her some screen shots showing that this account was empty and NOT the one I wanted help getting back into or changing. When she fininally understood the problem, she told me to call apple, who told me to email her. So now I'm here.
Have I lost every thing I've bought? Every single app, song, and season pass? I mean, all I did was change the email address to something with a typo.

How to pass column header as a parameter in Validation Expression (APEX4.0)

I created a new Page validation in APEX4.0 ( not 4.1 ).
(1) Type : Function Returning error text
(2) Validation Expression 1 :

note: the validate_name is an oracle pl/sql procedure which takes two input parameters ( column header name and actual value ) and return a specific error message ( to that column ) or NULL.
(3) In the Error Message section, I left Error Message blank ( as the app ignored the mssage but used the one returned from the above function)
However, I chose "The Error display location" to be inline with field and notification" and Associated Item to be "p26_LEAVE_FROM".
My question, it worked if I hard coded the actual column header "LEAVE FROM" , but it didn't work if I used the above #COLUMN_HEADER# in Validation Expression. Can I avoid hard coding as the column header might be changed one day. Is there a better way to deal with multiple column validations with different error message for each column ? It seems that I will have to create similar page valiation for each column to be validated.

The error string said that there was no flex.messaging.services.AdvancedMessagingService registered but it is the flex.messaging.services.AdvancedMessagingSupport service that needs to be registered.
Add configuration test that starts the server with a destination that has the reliable property set which is an advanced messaging feature but there is no AdvancedMessagingSupport service registered.

Unfortunately I already tried all kinds of re-installs (the full list is in my original message). The only one remaining is the reinstall of Windows 8 itself, which I would really like to avoid.
What I find really strange is the time it takes for the above error message to appear. It's like one hour or even more (never measured exactly, I left the computer running).
What kind of a timeout is that? I would expect that, if ports are really used by some other application, I get the message in less than a minute (seconds, actually). To me this looks like the emulator itself for some reason believes there's a problem with
some port while in reality there isn't.
I'll eventually contact Microsoft Support, thanks for the suggestion.

PDF Printing Issue with APEX4.0

Hi,
Im using APEX4.0, Database 10gXE and BI Publisher as my report server. As a example I downloaded the master-detail pdf example but each time I try to print I get the error;
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.
I have set my APEX instance settings to point to BI Publisher. I have also tested BI Publisher using a metalink note to prove that the issue is not with BI Publisher but with APEX trying to communicate with BI Publisher.
Its almost as if everything is pointing to the network services not being enabled but I thought this was only the case in database11g and not 10gXE.
Any pointers or suggestions appreciated.

Ignore this now. I uninstalled BI Publisher and re-installed it. I think the issue was a space in the original folder that BI Publisher was installed in.

Intermittent Bug - htmldb_Get clobbers DOM body element - Apex4

We recently started the process of upgrading to Apex4 and have had an issue with a call to htmldb_Get clobbering the DOM such that the body tag is emptied and thus nothing is rendered in the browser. But before jumping in too deep let me say this problem has been extremely hard to debug because 1) it is intermittent 2) it only happens in Firefox (3.5.X - 3.6.X) on Windows Vista and 3) turning on some debugging tools (like Fiddler) make the problem go away all together.

With enough patience, if you click on the two links (jumping back and forth between the pages) you will eventually reach a blank page. I've had to do it upward of 10 minutes before. Please note this does not only happen on MY Vista machine, but three other machines in separate locations, so I'm sure it's not just my browser. Once you get the blank screen if you view source you will see that indeed there is content between the body tags. And, if you have firebug installed, if you view the firebug console you will see that two ajax calls were successfully made (these are calls to htmldb_Get) and if you look at the DOM firebug will report that there is no content in the body tags.
If you view source you will see two on demand application processes are called. One gets an application item's value and the other is used to set an application item's value (this code I believe was lifted from Carl here in the forums). They are defined like thus:

There is a third application process defined at "on load before header". It simply does this:
:AI_PAGE_REQUESTED := 'YES';
There are no other application items, application processes, page processes, page items or pages defined in this application. The javascript that calls htmldb_Get can all be seen if you do a view source on either page, they have the same javascript on them.
This is the most stripped down app I could make that exhibits the problem. It does seem that the stripped down version results in a blank page less often than our actual application. So, in case you run out of patience clicking on those links, let me also give you a link to our application that does it more often, but still intermittent.

Once you visit that link about half way down the page you'll see a few links, one of them will say "Heath Ledger". Click on that link.
You will now see some accordion type tabs. What you want to do is click the one that says "Example - Celebrity Drug Cocktail" then once that page loads click back to "Side Effects Risk Map". If you jump between these two tabs enough times you'll hit the blank page. Of course the page and application have many more processes, html and javascript in it but it shares the three application processes discussed above with the simplified application.
Again this only shows up on Vista Firefox 3.5.X-3.6.X so please don't waste your time trying to replicate on a different environment. Also this code never has this problem in our environment that runs on Apex 3.2.0.00.27
Let me know if you think there is any other information I could provide that would help in debugging. I could also email/ftp an export of the simplified application if it would help.

Thanks for the feedback. I replaced page number 0 with $v('pFlowStepId') in both functions but that hasn't fixed the issue. I was missing an application item which was why you were seeing that error about RETURNITEM not in application 102. I've added the item and now the ajax queries are returning correctly (which actually seems to cause the blank page to show up more frequently).
As for window.location = window.location. I can explain what it does, but for simplicity I just removed it and replaced it with an alert to show that it is not the root of the problem.
Generally what I'm trying to do is force a page refresh if a user has used the back button. How do I know if they used the back button? If the back button is used then the page is not re-fetched from apex, instead it is pulled out of the browser's cache. I check for this situation by having every page run a pre header processes that sets AI_PAGE_REQUESTED := 'YES'. So the first thing the javascript does on the page is check what the value of that item is. If it is 'YES' then we know the page is being processed with a new request to apex and we're getting the latest content. If it is 'NO' then we know that the page has been pulled from the browser cache and we force the browser to refresh with window.location = window.location. You'll also see in the javascript code if AI_PAGE_REQUESTED != 'YES' then we set its value to NO (again using ajax). In summary it's just a way to force page refreshes when a page was not loaded with a fresh call to apex. And like I said, it worked fine in apex 3.X and works fine in 4.X outside of Firefox 3.6-3.8 in vista... I'm open to alternative implementations if it gets me away from these blank screens.

Typo in Adobe Acrobat Reader 9/Pro 7

Didn't know how best to get Adobe's attention to suggest a fix; figured if nothing else at least forum users could get a laugh out of it. I apologize if this has previously been discussed.
You can access the typo by retrieving the rich text menu (Cntrl + E) and choosing "More." Under the "Paragraph" tab, check out what should say "Indents." It's missing an N.

How to change/delete iCloud address, created with typo the first time

How can I change or delete this, I had a typo when creating this originally and am unable to find a solution. I understand that an alias can be created, but I would rather just start over.
I do not use the @me account as a primary apple account, I have a comcast account for that. The reason this came up is when I wanted to sync notes with iCould, it forced me to create this, then I had a type and was unable to change it since then.

Unfortunately, you cannot change your .me address once you have created it. The only thing that you can do is use an alias, or create a new Apple ID using the .me address of your choice.

Problem in primary key column where user does typo error.

Hi all,
I have a primary key in the table that some part of it was the current date. For example if today date is 3rd May then it will contain xxxxxx-0503 (where xxxxxx will be unique for this day). In order save time needed to enter the data, I achieve this by having another (non database) item in the datablock where the user type the xxxxxx part and use a pre-insert trigger to add the '-0503' part to the actual primary key item in the datablock.
This works well if the user enter the xxxxxx part in the non database item correctly. But the problem show up when the users have typo error in the non database item that break the uniqueness of the primary key. Form as usual will tell us that it cannot insert the item but when I try to fix the error, it will report that records has been inserted before. The only solution is to clear form and retype the xxxxxx part.
Anyone have any idea on what is the best method to implement this in form? Thanks in advance for your help.

I cannot reproduce this in version 10.1.2.2. We did not "fix" this, although changes in the runtime might have fixed this "silently". I suggest you upgrade to 10.1.2.2 and see whether you still get the error.

WebUtil_File Function Typo

The defined function "webutil_file.get_file_separator" is actually misspelled in the software. To use it, you have to misspell it as "webutil_file.get_file_seperator". Will this be corrected in future versions?

Tis simply the Olde English spelling, however, yes this (and a couple of other typos that I will leave you to discover) has been corrected
