Approval process is skipping with update user

Hi,
I have approval process before updating a user (the oganization in which the user exists has approvers assigned to it). I am using the default Lighthouse Approval subprocess.
But when i try to update a user, the workflow is going inside the "Lighthouse Approval" subprocess but the "getApprovals" activity (in the approval subprocess) is returning null. So the approval workitem is not being created.
Can anyone help me out in this? Am i missing anything here.
Thanks

I belive the approvals only works for when someone is assigned the role, not when they are updated.

  • Approval Process to Apply to Updated Documents

    Hi,
    My customer has a problem with certain Sales Orders not going through the Approval Process.  Users are circumnavigating the Approval Process in a sneaky way.
    Let us say that we have a Sales Order with a value of £1000.  On hitting Add, SAP asks the user to submit the Sales Order for approval.
    If the user then clicks Cancel they return to the Sales Order entry form.  If he then changes the Order value to a figure which does not fire the Approval Process (for example £0) the system allows the Order to be Added.
    If the user then amends the Order back to the original £1000, he can Update the Order without firing the Approval Process.  I found out how this was happening by looking at the History of a Sales Order and have recreated the issue locally.
    I have found SAP Note Number 904373 - Approval Procedure not working on marketing documents.  This note states that the above scenario is system behaviour.
    Can this be changed so Updated documents will fire the approval process?
    Thanks
    Greig

    Hi All,
    Can we use the Request API to create the request (and then Approval) for other than ADD (object type like Disable, Enable etc) of a user like below
    long lRequestKey;
    long UserKey=1;
    long ObjectKey=201; //testro1
    HashMap reqMap = new HashMap();
    reqMap.put("Requests.Target Type", "U");
    reqMap.put("Requests.Object Request Type", "Disable");
    reqMap.put("Requests.Type", "U");
    lRequestKey = reqObj.createRequest(reqMap);
    System.out.println("Created request and got key :" + lRequestKey);
    reqObj.addRequestUser(lRequestKey, UserKey);
    System.out.println("Added the request user");
    reqObj.addRequestObject(lRequestKey, ObjectKey); // I am not sure if this part is right but without this it is giving me the error.
    System.out.println("Added the request object");
    reqObj.completeRequestCreation(lRequestKey);
    System.out.println(Completed and submitted the request");
    I gave it a try but the Resource detail is not getting populated in the request due to which request hang up in "Request Initialized" state. I tried by passing the Process Instance Key also but no luck.
    Any chance if anyone crack it before. Please tell me. Thanks

  • Start BPM Process from ABAP with another User as GUEST

    Hi all,
    i would like to start the BPM Process by a webservice. It works if the user GUEST has the role BPM_SuperAdmin.
    My question is: How can i chance this user, who call the webservice starting the process. The user, who starts the process by calling the webservice should be my own user instead of GUEST.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Christoph

    the last reply is regarding the configuration at consumer side.
    of course you have to configure at the service provider side to enable the logon ticket as acceptable authentication method.
    I checked at my side, i found the the service for triggering bpm is already configured to use id/pwd and logon ticket as authentication method.
    you can check in this way,
    CE nwa-> SOA  Management->Application and Scenario Communication-->Single Service Administration
    find your service, if you haven't assign any profile to your service, there will be only one configuration generate by system
    you can edit this configuration.
    go to configuration tab, select the endpoint, select security tab in the bottom tab list.
    change the setting there.

  • Approval process in update user workflow

    Hi
    I have read in the document Administrative Guide that by default, the approval process is set only for user creation. and the same does not work for update and delete operations on user, unless we customize the code.
    Does any one of you have any idea as to what customization needs to be done for successful approval process for updates also. I have set approvers for resources.
    Thanks
    Bushra

    1. backup the existing Update user workflow as an xml file
    2. Copy paste the same in the BPE.
    3. Save the copy as a new object with a different name.
    4. Edit the new workflow as follows:
    4.1 Create new activity
    4.2 In the new activity, add a variable with some name
    4.3 create a new action, and let that action be a subprocess. For that subprocess, browse and choose 'Approval' as the action.
    4.4 Add a argument as name=approvalForm and value=<name of approval form>
    4.5 Include argument user=$(user), etc. (Check the original approval workflow to see what the names of the arguments are)
    4.6 For return to=name of the variable declared, from=approved
    4.7 Add a 'isTrue' condition for the variable declared.
    5. Make the appropriate transitions, and ur ready to go.
    Let me know if this helps. I can post some skeleton code tomorrow. I need to work on it. Drop a line at [email protected]

  • How to use a pwa group in CREATE A TASK PROCESS in SPD 2013 for project server workflow approval process

    I am working on a Project Server 2013 workflow. I am creating this using Sharepoint Designer 2013. In this workflow I am using approval process at one stage. I have created a security group SalesManagers in PWA. I want to use this group for workflow approval
    process. I want all users of this group get approval tasks.
    For this I used START A TASK PROCESS activity in the SP Designer. I clicked on
    this user and created task process. But here I could not find SalesManager group which I created in PWA. I was only able to find the users. I can also see
    Administrators for PWA . But couldnot find SalesManager or any other security group created in pwa.
    Can anyone suggest how I can get the security group created in pwa.

    NBDevelopment,
    I believe SPD only recognizes the SharePoint Groups and not the project server security groups.
    The Administrators for PWA, and few other groups like Project Managers for PWA etc., are synced SharePoint Groups with the security groups, which is why they show up in SPD.
    You could create a SharePoint Group for the Sales Managers group and use that in SPD.

  • PO Approval Process - Statuses Query

    Hi All,
    I am not able to figure out when will the following combination of statuses will occur in a PO Collaboration with Approval Process.
    Distribution Status : Updated by Customer
    Change Distribution Status : Published by Supplier
    It will be great if anyone can illustrate this with example.
    Regards,
    Bharath

    Hi Nikhil,
    Thanks for the answer. But in my tests, when one  / more of a PO line item is set to "Manual Approval Required" after the Approval Process, the statuses are as follows:
    Status 1:
    Distribution Status : Published by Supplier
    Change Distribution Status : Updated by Customer
    If the Buyer logs into SNC Web UI and approves the deviation, the statuses change to :
    Status 2:
    Distribution Status : Published by Supplier
    Change Distribution Status : Published by Supplier
    This triggers a PORDCH Idoc which goes and changes the ECC PO and sends a new PORDCR1 / RON to SNC. After this the status becomes:
    Status 3:
    Distribution Status : Updated by Customer
    Change Distribution Status : Updated by Customer
    So my query is when do we get the remaining combination of the statuses i.e.,
    Status 4:
    Distribution Status : Updated by Customer
    Change Distribution Status : Published by Supplier
    This is primarily to define the PO Chnage Profile.  As per std. SAP Change Profile, for Status 1 & 3, the PO is editable by supplier but for status 2& 4 its display only.

  • Approval Process Not triggering?

    Hello,
    I have created a simple Approval process in which request should go to the Beneficiary manager through JDEVELOPER. I have also registered this Approval process with OIM.
    After that i have created two Approval policies..
    REQUEST LEVEL--
    This is Auto Approved.
    Approval Rule :: Template Name equals Provision Resource.
    Set Priority : 1 (Request Type=Provision Resource)
    OPERATIONAL LEVEL --
    Approval Process attcahed at this level.
    Approval Rule :: Template Name equals Provision Resource.
    When i am creating a request for a particular resource the request is getting assigned to XELSYSADM by default (as per the Developers Guide for OIM 11g, if no approval policy is attached with the template the default Approval process gets trigerred and the request gets assigned to XELSYSADM.)
    Can somebody help me by telling why the Default Approval process is getting triggered and not the one which i have attached at the Operational level?
    Am i missing Something?
    Thanks in Advance.

    As i have mentioned earlier, it is configured such that the appropriate approval process is triggered when a request for particualr resources is requested.
    There are multiple tasks in each one of the approval process.
    The approvals were triggering well 2 days ago and suddenly there seams to be a problem in the approval triggering.
    The approval process was not edited / updated for any of these resources. Wondering why suddenly OIM does not work well for the approval triggering???
    here the problem is none of the configured approval processes are triggering. Its not just one approval process but all 12 approval processes (including standard approval) are not triggering when the request is raised.
    Appreciate your help till now, please suggest me how to make OIM trigger the approvals again!
    Thanks

  • Approver Details Not Visible After Changing the Approval Process

    Hi Gurus,
    This expense report belongs to an open approval task when an approval process has ended its validity date.
    After a new approval process is activated, all pending approval tasks experience the issue of approver details not showing.
    In order to reproduce following steps need to be done :
    1. Deactivate the current approval process and activate the new approval process.
    2. When the status of the recently deactivated approval process is "Ended With Open Tasks", go to the "Show Open Approval Tasks" to
    see the open approval tasks.
    3 Check the Cost Assignment area for expense report which is in the open approval tasks.
    3. Approver Details are available.
    4. The approver sees the expense report on his/her approval list.
    Once the approver approves, it doesn't go out of his/her approval list and the expense report is still pending for approval.
    To determine if the expense report has no other pending approval from anyone else, there should be the approver
    details but the issue is it doesn't show up.
    The expense report is also stuck on the approver's approval list even after approving.
    Workaround provided to the Customer:   Recall the ER and submit again for approval.
    But as per customer there should be a background job to refresh the expense report to reflect the approval details.
    And issue should not occur as explained on the point 4.
    Kindly suggest if anything is possible to improve the system behavior.
    Regards,
    Rahul Mishra

    Hi Rahul,
    Although we have a workaround, I believe a permanent solution has to be implemented.
    In cases when an expense report has more than one approver (for example there are 4 approvers) and the 3 approvers had already approved, I think it will not be good to recall the expense report and resubmit because the traveler will have to seek for approval again from all the approvers.

  • Service entry approval process in MM-SRV-SUS by client engineer

    Dear Experts,
    We are implementing the service entry process in the classic scenario. In the new process, the service agent of the supplier will enter the service entry sheet from the SUS. Once triggering of the service entry sheet is completed, the service entry sheet will have the status of 'No Acceptance'.
    Here comes the client requirement. The client wants to have two step approval process for service entry sheet. In the first step, the supervising engineer of the client will approve the service entry sheet. Then the next step of approval will be financial approval which will be done by the cost center manager.
    In the existing process in SAP MM, the supervising engineer of the client enters the service entry sheet manually and goes through one step approval of the cost center/org unit manager approval. The existing approval process is implemented with release strategy available in ECC.
    How can the new approval process be implemented? What characteristics should be used to enable the system to find the first level approver i.e. the supervising engineer? is it achievable through release strategy?
    Any idea or thought will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan
    Ranjan Sutradhar

    Dear Masa,
    Thanks for the advice, I still have one more question.
    Does this mean I don't have to follow SAP's advice stated below?
    In the Plan-Driven Procurement with Supplier Integration business scenario, you can use Supplier Self-Services (SUS) and SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) in conjunction with each other.
    SAP MM is used as the procurement system, since this scenario involves the procurement of direct materials.
    *This business scenario is not suitable for the procurement of services or indirect materials*
    In other words are there any consequences for using the MM-SUS plan driven procurement scenario for services instead of direct materials?
    Kind Regards,
    Arie

  • Remove the last task of the stand approval process workflow in SharePoint Designer

    Hello,
    I am building a workflow in SharePoint Designer.  I have added the standard approval process that comes stock in SharePoint. I also have the approval set up to handle change requests.  This is where my issue is.  A user can eather approve
    a document or request changes(according to some limitations i have in place on the InfoPath form).  If they approve, the workflow is complete.  If they request a change, a request change task gets assigned to another user.  This other user then
    completes their review and submits their response.  this then kicks off the approval process again to the original user to approve.
    1. User A recieves approval form - requests a change
    2. User B recieves Form - submits that changes have been made
    3. User A recieves another approval form - then can approve
    I am looking for a way to eliminate step number 3.  I want User B to be able to complete the approval when he submits the changes.  I tried copying and pasting the approve button from the default infopath view onto the view that UserB
    sees, which has a data submit action when the button is clicked. This did not work.
    Any ideas would help

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add a “request a change” button in the Task Form.
    If you can cutomize the task form, I recommend to add button directly and then add conditions and rules to the button.
    After you add the “request a change” button, the workflow is similar to the
    Multiple Approval Workflow.

  • How Assigned TO field will be updated in "start Approval process" Task Action

    I have created a reusable workflow in sharepoint designer. Am using “start Approval process“ Task Action. I have a question in “start Approval process“ Task Action.
    I have username field in the list.  I have created a task form field with name username in “start Approval process“ Task Action. I have assigned list username field to task field username field.
    I have entered a user details in list user name field for new list item. Once the workflow has been started for that item a mail has been sent to the user whose name I have entered in the list user name field. Task has been assigned to the user whose name
    I have entered in the list user name field.
    When I have checked start Approval process task a send mail activity is present (Email Task notification currentitem:Assigned TO) .
    I have not update Assigned To field explicitly.
    1. Where / how the Assigned TO field is getting updated ?
    2. Workflow Initiation and task creation will be done internally by the user who created the item in the list?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you had questions about the “start Approval process“ Task Action.
    When you add the “start Approval process“ Task Action, you need to to select the user who the task assign to.
    To assign the user whose name you have entered in the list user name field, you add action as below:
    After you select the user, the Assigned TO field is getting updated.
    In addition, workflow Initiation and task creation will be done internally by the user who created the item in the list.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • To Activate the Approval Process when document is in update mode

    Dear Expert,
                        I have applied the Approval Process for UDF using the query "Select Distinct 'True' From ORDR T0
    Where IsNull($[ORDR.U_Rebate.number],0)>0 and $[ORDR.DocType]='I' ".
    Now as the field is UDF user is able to modify even after approval procedure.
    Please help me to apply the above query for the  Approval process even when the document is in update mode.
    regards,
    PankajK

    Dear Pankaj,
    Current B1 design only support approval for adding document. Update will not trigger approval.
    You may use SP_TN instead to block user updating it. If you are not familiar with the SP, search the forum first.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

    Any idea how to resolve this ??
    Thanks,

    Based on the error trace
    Caused By: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12899: value too large for column "DEV_OIM"."REQUEST_APPROVALS"."APPROVAL_STATUS" (actual: 442, maximum: 32)
    you are inserting a value too large for REQUEST_APPROVALS.APPROVAL_STATUS column. It should contain values like COMPLETED, approved, rejected etc... Check your custom approval process again.

  • Approver skipped during approval process in N-step BADI workflow

    Hi,
    I am some problem in n-step BADI approval process. For some reasons one of the approvers is skipping during approval. And later in the approval preview it observes that the approver, who is just above the skipped approver, is appeared twice.
    I am not able to simulate this issue though this is happening in the system frequesntly though it is not for all.
    Can you please let me know what is the problem in the system and how can we rectify this issue?
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Krish

    Hello
    sorry search for the n-step WS14500015 is the item based...
    Another thing, you can try with testing to restrict the case to special conditions. Are there any added-approver there? Is there any approver who makes some changes to the SC? etc..
