Audible Password on File Import  Crashes Program

I have a new iMac and have iTunes and an Audible account. I have no problem downloading from Audible site to iTunes. However, I already have some files downloaded from audible previously and want to import them. I do the import routine, but every time I get to the point where the Audible username/password screen pops up, iTunes crashes and closes after about 5 seconds whether I try to enter any keystrokes or not. I downloaded iTunes ver 9 and the problem remains.
Any ideas on what is wrong?
Steve

Problem solved. It had to do with file properties. I had file sharing set up on the computer from which I moved the files to read only, so the files copied as read only. Once I got the files out of read only mode, all was right with the world.

  • IPhoto 9.5.1 - Hangs on any movie file import - crashes -help!

    Hey There Everyone!
    I'm working in iphoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks and have been for weeks.  However, since my upgrade to Mavericks I've had no luck importing any movie file (.MOV,.mp4) into my library from either my iphone or my T2i Canon. Photos are fine. Videos are not.
    I have browsed the boards here and have done the following:
    HELD DOWN ALT/OPTION & created a new library.   IMPORT STILL HANGS AND CRASHES when trying to import videos
    CREATED NEW USER and new library - IMPORT STILL HANGS & CRASHES
    HAVE repaired permssions, then  deleted app, receipts and re-installed from APP store. Still crashes.
    Photos import without any problem. If I have a mix, it imports the photos up until the video, then it's the spinning beach ball of death.
    I get a "not responding" (even after an hour) and then I force quit. On re-opening I get: "A photo ahs been found in the iPhoto library that has not been imported. Would you like to import it? "   This is always the movie file and when I do this it hangs again. I end up saying no and it's put into a .recovered folder just outside my library.
    All other functions seem to be working in Iphoto. Any help anyone has would be great!
    Thanks!
    Jon

    Open the iPhoto Library as Terence Devlin as shown in this screenshot
    and move the contents of the Auto Import folder
    to a folder on the Desktop. Launch iPhoto and check to see if that message has gone away.  If it has you can try importing the files from the folder on the Desktop again.

  • Import crashes program

    In CS6 it is WAY too easy to import an entire folder by accidentally double clicking (depending on view)... It crashes the program every time. Is there a setting I can change?

    Huh?

  • Lightroom 4 importing causing program to crash.

    Lightroom 4 will not import files. Windows 7 pop-up states; "there is a problem with this program that is preventing it from running correctly will check for solution". "Windows failed to find a solution must shut down program now".
    This prevents the import page from loading or working and no images can be imported using usb or SATA connections. Was able to use computer's built-in card-reader to read from Sd and compact cards, those were able to run in the import window only because of preference setting. "when a Memory card is installed import files" (preference-setting).  Any other means of importing files, the out-come is the program crashing and being shut down. All other functions outside the import menu seem to be working. Deleting all catalogs and then using the default catalog setting,  failed to clear issue.
    System info: Windows 7 64-bit, Intel i7 cpu, 16 gigs of ram, 4 one terabyte hard-drives.
    Solutions tried. Removing Lightroom 4, all catalogs, then running defrag, registry cleaner, before attempting to re-installing lightroom 4.  Removing lightroom 4 and installing lightroom 3.6 fails to fix issue. Removing all Lightroom products from hardrive,Including the windows program folder, windows programs data folder. Then rebooting re-running defrag, registry cleaner and re-installing lightroom 4 fails to fix importing issue. No way to contact support and links to user group fail to take me to correct user group. Question with the lead as lightroom 4 importing causes program to crash. Takes me to everything but lightroom solutions!  Now this takes me to photoshop user group which has nothing to do with lightroom. With lightroom 4 in the question itself, I get everything but lightroom solutions!

    Camera raw is built into Lightroom. It is the engine that makes the corrections within an image. You might not see as a seperate program, like earlier versions of Lightroom. Or having to launch it in a new window to work in camera raw. In version 4 of Lightroom it was made seamless and built into Lightroom.
    Lightroom 4 was installed in the admin log-in window. I have all useage rights to any file lightroom creates or adjusts. I am thinking that the Photoshop CS6 beta created some working problem within Lightroom 4. Now that the beta-test program is over, I think the problem is a result of removing Photoshop's last build, before the public beta was released. I do hope, Adobe is working on a solution for people experiencing importing problems with Lightroom 4. I am just grabbing at straws here, trying to find something that will work. I think the problem will go away once computer has the new camera raw build 7.0 that ships in Photoshop CS6. With so many versions of camera raw installed on the computer, I think Lightroom is having issues as a result. Let's hope a patch is in the works, Lightroom 4 is useless if importing files doesn't work correctly.
    B&H photo is taking pre-orders for the creative suites, right now. The only way to get support is by purchasing a subscription. Otherwise it is a $35.00 per issue fee. So, I am not sure of what upgrade path I will take. Not loving the cloud at all, with this year of Hackers, I seriously doubt that any cloud will prove to be safe to use. Why would, I want to post my hard work to a cloud where anyone can steal it? But that is a different topic.
    For right now the only way to import is by creating an empty folder on the same hard-drive that Lightroom resides on. Setting up auto-import in Lightroom Pref. file to check that empty folder. Folder has to be empty to set up. Then dragging image files into that empty folder. I discovered that Lightroom 4 will not open or look in sub-folders for images. Which means you lose keeping a day's worth of shooting seperate from other folders. Where Lightroom version 3.6 you could.There was a second auto-import that worked, with my built-in memory-card reader. Where in the Lightroom pref.file you can tell Lightroom to auto-import, when a memory-card is detected. ( this is the least viable option, because more memory card become damaged removing and reinstalling them). These were the only two methods, I could get images into Lightroom 4 and prevent Lightroom from crashing.  Might have to go back to using Nikon NX to import my images and using Bridge to catalog them.

  • Automatic FCPX Crash on Uncompressed File Import

    Hello there...
    I'm running FCPX 10.0.8 on OSX 10.8.4.
    I edit sizzle reels and often am delivered footage on BluRay discs.  I extract the files using a "Pass Through" mode that only makes sure the H.264 files on the BluRay discs are compliant and rewraps (no re-encoding). Once I have these large .m4v files I import them into FCPX.
    If I don't optimize or create proxy on import, the files will import ok but once in FCPX they aren't usable.  There is a solid green color where you would normally be able to watch clips and the audio on playback works fine.
    If I do attempt to optimize or create proxy on import, the program crashes immediately.
    If, for example, I would have taken those uncompressed files and ever so slightly compressed them (in Handbrake, iVi, etc) the resulting files would import and work perfectly.  That is the way I'm forced to go now, but the uncompressed (which plays PERFECTLY in Quicktime and VLC right before importing to FCPX) looks so much better.
    Any help anyone can shed on this would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes I downloaded the additional content.
    I understand that H.264 is a compressed format, but the way I'm pulling the files from the source disc, I'm not compressing them in any additional manner.  The program I am using (iVi from the App Store) has a Pass Through mode and essentially is re-wrapping them (if they are H.264 no video encode) and encoding audio.
    I could try going straight to ProRes but the file sizes would astronomical and I'm not setup for that.  A feature would be 135-150 gigs in 422.

    rb
    Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
    For those with the display card error, the answers include
    a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
    if necessary consider a driver roll back.
    b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
    c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
    the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
    Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
    Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
    When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

  • Help!  Save File Dialog CRASHES Every Program

    Suddenly, I cannot save a file in any program in Mac OS X. As soon as I select "Save..." or hit Ctrl+S, the program crashes. This happens in every program, all of them!
    The problem persists across multiple reboots, and even after repairing permissions, verifying the disk, and booting into single-user mode and running fsck (and the disk passed).
    Please email me directly at jonmills at email dot unc dot edu if you have any ideas how to fix this. It has rendered my computer unusable, and I may have to completely re-install.

    to make things clearer a screenshot of the dialog I'm talking about. this happens everywhere such a generic save file dialog appears.

  • Windows 7 64 Bit Import crash

    I have a core i7 system with 6 GB of RAM running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I installed my copy of Lightroom 2 on my C: drive and updated to 2.5. When I click the import button, the program immediately terminates. If I use the menus, the import dialog appears but the program crashes.
    I uninstalled 2.5 and downloaded Lightroom 3 Beta. I installed that on an external HDD (USB 2). When I click on import, the program immediately crashes. When I use the menu, the import dialog appears but there is a crash.
    The crash is (endlessly) repeatable with two different versions of the program on two different disks. 2.5 worked happily with Windows 64 bit Ultimate so it looks like a Windows 7 compatibility issue - has anyone else encountered (and resolved) this problem?
    Sean

    I removed the preferences file as directed.  I clicked on the 64-bit Lightroom icon.  It still crashed.  I removed the entire Preferences folder and noticed that a new preferences folder was created.  But Lightroon still crashed.  In the same Adobe folder I went to the Photoshop CS4 folder and found a "PSErrorLog.txt" file that tracks errors.  The error messages were similar, with the latest one reflecting my crash saying the following:
            2009:11:20 00:13:51 : e:\ps11\ps_11_win_daily_retail\20090218.r.523\photoshop\main\photoshop\interfaces\UTrackR esourceImp.h : 136 : REQUIRE failed
    I have no idea what that means except something failed.  Maybe someone else knows what it means.
    I've attached the log file in case it can help anyone.

  • Conforming problem on file import

    First things first: I'm working with an Asus P6XP58D-E motherboard, Intel I7 950, Nvidia Quadro FX 580, 8GB DDR3 memory and Windows 7 64bits, all with 1 month of use only.
    The first problem: It takes aproximately 5 to 7 minutes to load Premiere Pro CS5 with the splash screen stuck on "exporterquicktimehost.prm". Now, I've been reading a lot about this matter and seems like everyone says its firewall or antivirus problems regarding the relation between Premiere and Quick Time. So I followed every piece of advice that I got on it in order to allow adobe and quick time to freely use internet. Firewall exclusions, antivirus exclusions and also turned them off to try but nothing change. Nevertheless this issue being realy anoing, I could go with if it wasn't for the second problem;
    The second problem: I shoot with a Nikon D300s DSLR camera at 24fps, 720 x 1280, and the sound format is 11.025hz 16bit. Now, I now Premiere has support for these formats altough when starting a new project it doesn't have an option that uses these video and sound formats together. All options for my video format use a 44.000hz or 48.000hz sound format. That makes premiere have to conform the files as I import them wich should not be a problem. But this is exactly the reason why I'm writing this post!!! As premiere starts conforming the first file, well, it never finishes! The software crashes and freezes making me have to open the "Task Manager" to be able to close it because it completely stops responding. And thats the big issue. Maybe I could convert the audio with soundbooth, I know, but premiere should be working perfectly and not giving such trouble.
    So here is my cry for for help! Especialy for the second problem.
    Apreciate any help.

    OK! At the top part (where it does not scroll) It says " Version 5.0.3 (005 (MC:218798)) " and At the very begining of the scrolling part of the screen it says "Adobe Premiere Pro v5.0, Scully".
    But I have good news! I solved both problems with only 1 solution: both issues were being caused by the Quicktime I had and the Ace Mega Codec pack. I tried to open my Quicktime and it didn't start. No errors, no messages, nothing AT ALL, just double-click and nothing going on. I started searching for help in the internet and found this wonderfull tip in a discussion forum in the Apple site (can I say Apple here? well for now I'm saying it but please let me know if I can't) about this codec pack problem and then I remembered I read about how PPR comunicates with QT (thanks to you) so it hit me!
    The thing is, te Ace Mega Codec Pack was not alowing Quicktime to work with Adobe softwares and caused Premier to take forever to initiate and freeze and crash when I imported any video file for the program wasn't able to conform the video files without Quicktime acces.
    The solution couldn't be easier, simply erase the Ace Mega Codec Pack! Can you believe it!? So simple to do but so complicated to find out. Looking back now it sounds like a foolish obvious joke and makes me wanna laugh. Almost can't believe this gave me 4 days of trouble and bad sleep. Hahahahahahaa. Erasing the code pack made Quicktime function corectly and with that Premiere could finaly come to its swiftness and perfection. Just for the record, I unistalled Quicktime and Premiere, restarted my PC, reinstalled them both and restarted again and I use version 7.55.90.70 of Quicktime.
    So everything working fine now.
    Thanks a lot for the good will to help, I realy apreciated it.

  • Growing file import and refresh issues

    1) With files generated by our own MOV/op1a writers, we get different results with different wappers, different OS platforms and versions, and different storage filesystems, both using CC 7.1 and CS6.05
    Quicktime files on the Mac, OS 10.7.5 to a Samba share: refresh will only work by putting Premiere into the background then bringing it to the foreground to force the update.
    Quicktime files (any codec) on a win7 PC writing to an NTFS share: we get sporadic updates, although in about 98% of sessions, the file will update once or twice after import and then never again during that particular CC/CS6 session. Exiting the program, reopening it and loading the project again will update the duration.  After closing the file, the duration updates instantly in both CC/CS6
    -- For Quicktime files, it seems like some sort of cache file is written that does not get updatedand premiere looks at this instead of polling the current state of the file.
    op1a XDCAM - on PC at least we get a sharing violation when attempting to open, much as in this discussion on the Adobe Community Premiere site: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4746601
    op1a AVC-I not tested yet.
    2) With Adobe Media Encoder CC doing the writing, we get no joy whatsoever.  Only tested on win7/NTFS share
    op1a XDCAM on import CS6/CC returns "file is open in another program" error.
    op1a AVC-I on import CS6/CC returns "file is open in another program" error.
    Quicktime (any codec) file import error or crash.
    All types import correctly after the files are closed.
    -- seems that the AME openfile() handle type is write-only, so Premiere can't open it for reading.
    So...I guess my first question is, what growing file source has this feature been tested with, on which OS and storage filesystems?
    There is virtually zero documentation and what little exists is very unspecific or contradictory...

    Ken,
    There are numerous posts on this subject. Currently LR treats same name, different extension files as sidecars of each other. Check out the numeroues RAW + JPG posts for example.
    Import your files into different folders and then move them into the folder you want for now.
    Hopefully this behaviour will be changed in the forthcoming 1.1 release mentioned by Jeff Schewe et al.

  • Reading a text file into a program

    Hi
    First off I am new to this and know very little about Cocoa programming. I have followed some tutorials e.t.c. and can make basic applications but I have a project I am doing which requires more knowledge than I have.
    The problem: part 1
    I can make a basic 'Hello world' app that has a window and has text in it, but i want this text to be read directly from an external text file. I plan on using a heart rate monitor which will give me information via the serial port and i have written the appropriate applescript to write this data to a text file. I now want a basic cocoa application that will display the contents of this text file as to show the users heart rate.
    This is only the beginning but i figure it's a start, once i have this down i can move onto the real reason behind the project.
    Below is what i found in the ref library. I think it's what i need to be using but i don't know where to put it and where to define the text file that needs to be read.
    "stringWithContentsOfFile:encoding:error:
    Returns a string created by reading data from the file at a given path interpreted using a given encoding.
    *+ (id)stringWithContentsOfFile:(NSString *)path encoding:(NSStringEncoding)enc error:(NSError *)error
    Parameters
    path
    A path to a file.
    enc
    The encoding of the file at path.
    error
    If an error occurs, upon returns contains an NSError object that describes the problem. If you are not interested in possible errors, pass in NULL.
    Return Value
    A string created by reading data from the file named by path using the encoding, enc. If the file can’t be opened or there is an encoding error, returns nil."
    Below is my code i made using a tutorial. All it does it make a window appear with 'hello world' in it. The idea is to replace the hello world with the text in the external .txt file
    #import "HelloView.h"
    @implementation HelloView
    - (id)initWithFrame:(NSRect)frame {
    self = [super initWithFrame:frame];
    if (self) {
    // Initialization code here.
    return self;
    - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect {
    NSString* hello = @"Hello, World!";
    NSPoint point = NSMakePoint(15, 75);
    NSMutableDictionary* font_attributes = [NSMutableDictionary new];
    NSFont* font = [NSFont fontWithName:@"Futura-MediumItalic" size:42];
    [font_attributes setObject:font forKey:NSFontAttributeName];
    [hello drawAtPoint:point withAttributes:font_attributes];
    [font_attributes release];
    @end
    If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Adam

    Hello,
    Well doing that way you just need to put another string in the "hello" container.
    Instead of - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect {
    NSString* hello = @"Hello, World!";
    /...../} you define "hello" another way
    - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect {
    NSString *hello = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:@"/Your/Path/Here/" encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:NULL];//Assuming UTF8 encoding
    if ( ! hello)
    hello =@"Failed to load the string";
    NSPoint point = NSMakePoint(15, 75);
    NSMutableDictionary* font_attributes = [NSMutableDictionary new];
    NSFont* font = [NSFont fontWithName:@"Futura-MediumItalic" size:42];
    [font_attributes setObject:font forKey:NSFontAttributeName];
    [hello drawAtPoint:point withAttributes:font_attributes];
    [font_attributes release];
    The "if/else" was there to test successful loading of the file, and give you hints of why in case of failure but you can do without. I changed it so you just report an error occurred to user..
    All that said drawing strings in a window is more often done using a NSTextField in Interface Builder, if you wanna learn Cocoa maybe you should go that way.

  • How to compare and edit Resource bundle file using java programe

    Hi All
    I have two resource bundle with key, value and some comments. I need to write a java code to compare both of the values of the keys and if the values are different then i want to replace the second value with the first value.
    Its a programe which will udpate the second file with the first file values.
    I tried using Properties class but it didnt worked because when i am saving the file using store method it removes all the comments and the order of text also got disturbed.
    How I need to do this any help appriciated.
    Please elt me know if someone needs more info.
    Thanks in advance.

    Let's assume the ini file is a mapping type storage (key=value) so lets use Properties object. (works with java 1.4 & up)
    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.FileOutputStream;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.Properties;
    public class Test {
         private static Properties props;
         public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
              File file = new File("test.ini");//This is out ini file
              props = new Properties();//Create the properties object
              read(file);//Read the ini file
              //Once we've populated the Properties object. set/add a property using the setProperty() method.
              props.setProperty("testing", "value");
              write(file);//Write to ini file
         public static void read(File file) throws IOException {
              FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(file);//Create a FileInputStream
              props.load(fis);//load the ini to the Properties file
              fis.close();//close
         public static void write(File file) throws IOException {

  • Intermittent : The term 'get-date' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.

    I have developed a batch harness whereby all scheduled tasks (W2012) invoke a common powershell script that acts as a wrapper to all our housekeeping jobs.
    The first step in the wrapper is to create a Transcript file using following code
    if ($Host.name -ne "Windows PowerShell ISE Host") # Transcript does not work within ISE
    $timestamp = (get-date -format "yyyy-MM-dd-HH-mm-ss.fff")
    $path = "c:\corp\$timestamp" + "_$pid.txt"
    Start-Transcript -path $path -append
    As expected the folder contains files with timestamp & pid in name

    However note the last file, it has a zero length date time value in the name
    The error recorded by PowerShell is
    get-date : The term 'get-date' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.
    Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.
    At C:\Corp\Powershell\DMPRun-ScheduledTask.ps1:171 char:18
    +    $timestamp = (get-date -format "yyyy-MM-dd-HH-mm-ss.fff")
    +                  ~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : ObjectNotFound: (get-date:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException
    IE get-date has failed and returned a zero length field as the timestamp
    Can anyone think of a good reason why get-date would fail intermittently?
    Do I have to code defensively for base Powershell functions?

    I implemented David's suggestion and now I intermittently get
    import-module : Access to the path 'PowerShell_CommandAnalysis_Lock' is denied.

    I added a trap chain (My Powershell skills do not yet include recursive trap coding, any suggestions welcome)
    trap {
        trap {
            "Trap1"
            "Exception: " + $_
