Audigy 2 driver update fresh inst

Just did a fresh install of Win XP. Now I have two questions:
() Can I install the drivers and firmware directly from Creative, without using the original installation CD, and, if so, which of the many downloads do I choose? (Audigy2CMS PCAPP LB 3 0. . . .)??
(2) If it is advisable to use the original CD first, which of the update downloads do I use (if any) for the Audigy 2?
I find the download update lists leaves me with questions Having had issues slowly develop with the previous install of XP and Audigy, I wish to take advantage of this fresh XP install to install Audigy correctly.
Thanks, guys.

Quinnjm,
It really depends on what you use. If you have a platinum dri've and use the remote then you will want to at least install MediaSource from the CD. Then you will only need to update file to MediaSource.
The only driver file you will need to install will be the second driver listed:
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS Driver Update[/url]
This file will install with or without drivers and includes a file called CTPanel.exe that will allow you to configure your card. The file is located in c:\program files\Creative\SB Audigy 2\Program\Common\WDM

  • Audigy 2 ZS, Driver update results in broken driver, no sound.

    > I recently bought a used Audigy 2 ZS which works fine with the drivers from the CD. I don't know how old they are, Creative System Informations says driver version .82.0. That's why i wanted to update them. I had a Li've! before, so i knew how to update the drivers with the auto updater on the creative site. By the way, i did a clean up of the old drivers with Driver Sweeper before installing the new sound card.
When i do a driver update with the auto updater on the Creative website it downloads and install the newer drivers, but after the mandatory reboot i have no sound, and every Tool crashes, throws an error message or just doesn't work. I lose all my EAX effects and can't select any speakers. The only way to solve that is to uninstall everything and do a clean start with the CD.
I can update everything via the auto updater, except the drivers.

Download the updated drivers from Creative Support (or lateset WHQL drivers from http://www.station-drivers.com/)to your PC and try install them by running the CTZAPXX.EXE (found on the \Drivers\support\i386 -folder of your driver pack.
If didn't get drivers installed using that method, then goto HERE and follow the instructions.

  • 10/09/06 driver update for Audigy 2

Has anyone installed the driver update put out today for Audigy 2 ZS? Any feedback on whether they are worth downloading would be appreciated.

You can install the file EAX4DRV_AUDIGY2__84_50.exe . Check under Support> Downloads, and fill that in the Search By Filename option. That file can be installed standalone (no previous drivers required).

  • Audigy 2 & 4 Driver Update Faulty

I had a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Soundcard.
I recently re-formatted my PC, Installed the drivers from the CD, everything was absolutly fine, then I went onto the Creative Website and used the Auto-Update to update the drivers and software.
When installing the Driver update, it came up with a message saying that the driver could not be stopped, then it asked to restart, which it did, it then proceeded to install the driver, it then asked to restart windows again.
When windows reloaded, there was no sound,?on investigating why, the Sound Blaster was not listed as a soundcard under Sound and Audio Devices.
I looked in device manager and the soundcard was listed as a Multimedia Audio Controller with a yellow exclaimation mark next to it.
I've been able to get the sound card to work again by going onto the Windows Update website, it appeared as an update under hardware.
However when I play a DVD now, my DVD software allows SPDIF playback, it doesn't appear to send anything to my Creative Inspire Digital 5500 speakers, prior to my reformat, they switched to Dolby Digital mode, but now they don't and I get no sound at all.
So I tried downloading the Driver again and installing it, the same thing happened when it installed on my PC, in that it had to restart as it couldn't stop the device.
This time, when it did so, an add new hardware search for drivers window came up, looking for a "PCI Input device" I opted to search for drivers automatically, and it claimed it could not find any drivers, and now I get no sound again.
Luckily the Driver has appeared again in Windows Update, so I will be able to get sound again.
Does anyone know how to get the Driver update to install properly, is anyone else experienceing the same problems as me?

With XP I'm still using 2.8.000, they seem to work fine

  • Blank screen after display driver update Satellite Pro P200

I installed the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 display driver (8.432, from the Toshiba site via Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. On rebooting everything looks fine as far as the Windows Vista Business "Please wait ..." screen, but instead of displaying the login page I get a blank screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as normal). All I can do at this point is power off, and I've run out of ideas on how to get any further.
    Things I've tried:
    # booting into safe mode, low-resolution video or last known good configuration all result in the same blank screen.
    # connecting to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) isn't possible because the system hasn't loaded the network drivers yet.
    # I can't revert to a restore point because Vista can't find any (I made a manual one after installing windows updates on a couple of days ago).
I can run a command prompt from the system recovery options and would prefer to use that to disable the driver +if+ I knew how before resorting to the more drastic options.
A web search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous releases of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at give a solution that's available to me.

No joy with an external screen so I bit the bullet and reinstalled from the product recovery disk. I tried expert mode to retain the data partition but that failed twice, so I had to restore it from the previous day's backup after doing a full reinstall. Two consolations, though.
    # It allowed me to increase the size of the data partition.
    # The display driver update worked fine on the fresh install.
Needless to say I've since found [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525] which describes how you can disable a problem device driver (atikmdag in my case) from the system recovery command prompt :-(
Hopefully the instructions in there will help anybody who gets caught with similar problems.

  • RM 900 remote doesn't work after driver update

    Hi!
After solving the proble of? "crackle, pops and noise" with a driver update for Audigy Platinum Ex, I see that my remote is no longer working, i've try reinstalling Remote Center from original drivers and applications CD and after a Volume Up or Down the Rear Left Speaker gives me no sound.
I've seen in others threads in the forum and they say about installing Media Source, but after installing it still doesn't work.
Any clue how to make it work again?
Using Windows XP SP3 and Audigy Platinum Ex.
    Thank you again in advance.
PD: Excuse my poor english, it's not my nati've language.

    Hello Jashue67,
Sorry to hear about all the trouble with the Apple TV.  It sounds like you have done a restore but need to pair your Apple TV remote at this point.  You can follow these steps to pair the remote:
Or, you can press and hold the Menu and Next/Fast-forward buttons on the white Apple Remote, or hold the Menu and right buttons on the aluminum Apple Remote, for 6 seconds to pair.
You can find the full article here:

  • Audigy Platinum driv

Hi all, and a big hello from a beginner in this forum!
I'm going to download new drivers for my old Audigy Platinum (200), the file name is: sabx_webup_lb_2_08_0004.
My question is: does it works good?
One year ago I downloaded a driver from this site and my XP SP2 crashed!!
Does it worth, anyway? I have no problems with my sound card and I don't know if it is really necessary to update the driver...
Maybe anyone installed the new driver and had problems?
    Thank you.

  • 2 issues with last Audigy 1 driver upd

I have presently 2 issues with the last drivers released for the Audigy cards. Both issues are able to be reproduced consistently, and did not happen with the last release (from last year), or at least not consistently.
. Crackling while playing back Quicktime files has increased. Previously it was around in 0 files that crackled (and only Quicktime that I noticed). Now it is around in 3.
    2. I cannot play back DVD's through Windows Media player 0, period. Whenever I try I get the following message:
"this pin cannot use the supplied media type"
How do I know this is driver related? Well, by reverting to the last drivers the message goes away. Also, if I disable the soundcard totally the error goes away and the video plays, albiet without sound.
Anyways just thought I'd post this here so hopefully someone at Creative sees it and actually fixes the issue.
BTW, yes I did try reinstalling the drivers. Twice. Even redownloaded them in case the original D/L was corrupted.
Edited to clarify about the DVD issue:
To make it a little clearer about the DVD issue, when I first got my Audigy while using the original release drivers on the install CD, I could not use 5. output with the soundcard decoding. To try to get it working, I would put the output to SPDIF and set the soundcard to decode AC3. This would not even allow the movie to play in WMP 0, often just crashed the player. With the last driver update before the January one, I could set the output to SPDIF in WMP 0 and AC3 to decode in the Creative audio control panel and I would have 5. surround output. With the last driver update, setting output to SPDIF and trying to play the movie gives the 'this pin cannot use the supplied media type' error message. If, however, I start the movie on 2 speaker output in WMP 0 it will play normally. While the movie has started I can go into preferences and switch output to SPDIF and 5. surround kicks in and works fine usually. But, if I then stop the movie and restart it I once again start getting the 'this pin cannot use the supplied media type' error, and the DVD will not play.
Also thought it worth mentioning XP is up to date, SP2 and all the latest patches, Nvidia drivers up to date (not that it's a video card issue) and Direct X is up to date also (I run the update once a month just in case).Message Edited by Drifter73 on 05-5-2006 0:35 AM

    Jay,
As to your first question: it could be a OS and discoverer problem that you are running into. I would suggestion upgrading atleast to 3.1.45 or higher. If you can go to 4.1
I can not really assist you with your other questions as I do not have that version available..

  • SoundCard Driver update not stick

Hi I currently have a problem with my Creative Audigy SB driver. I dont know how it got messed up but I dont have an Audio Mixer Device. I can hear some sounds but some run like on quicktime and some other programs dont run. After checking a few things it led me to that driver. So of course I gave it an update and bwalah! its fixed got my Mixer Device back... or so i thought. Shortly after i had to reinstall the driver again and again and again. I managed to figure out that after a reboot or two the driver deletes itself or rverts to its old one. Any idea how to fix this ?

For starters, you might be better to post in the soundcard forum.

  • Problems with Driver update =( Any advi

I recently was advised that I had to update my soundcard drivers in order for an application to run correctly. I was directed to www.creativelabs.com to download the proper drivers. after I downloaded the drivers and launched the update I promptly received a message that says the setup has failed to detect a supported product on my system. I then did a repair install to add any potentially missing information, but when I launched the setup again I received the same message. I have a regular old Audigy Soundblaster that I purchased from Wal-Mart, can anyone offer any advice or assistance? Here's my dxdiag:?------------------

It's just a regular ol' Audigy
Actually your "regular old Audigy" is an Audigy SE,?Driver Name: P7.sys
is the Audigy SE driver, not the regular Audigy driver. The driver you want is this one,?http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ype=0&x=27&y=6?

  • Audigy 2 driv

i just reformatted my hard dri've and i lost the disk that came with sound card that has the drivers for it and this freaking website wont give me the drivers only updates that require the drivers already. so where the heck am i supposed to get the drivers from?

i took my sound card out to see exactly what it is, model number SB0090 (with no M or G at the end)
when i search the site by model number there is no SB0090, theres an SB0090M and SB0090G, both are some type of Audigy 2, but every time i download an audigy 2 driver, when i try to install it, it says"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2/Sound Blaster Audigy on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program.
    Setup will now exit."
and dont tell me that "its not in all the way" or anything like that i've taken it out and put it back in many times, i've tried it on 3 different slots on my mother board it keeps saying this and every time i turn on my computer it says windows detected new hardware so i know that it's being detected by windows so wtf is the problem? in the device manager its there under "Other Devices" as "Multimedia Audio Controller"
when i do a search for drivers it comes up with nothing and when when i try to install any driver it doesnt work.

  • Audigy Mp3+ driver problems..

I purchased an Audigy Mp3+ about a year ago and have had nothing but problems with it since... I have installed it several times and it still dont run right. I have reinstalled my OS several times and with the same result. I went to Autodetect on the Creative website to update my drivers, and it wouldnt detect my card. So I downloaded the Audrvvxd.exe driver update, and it said that I need to reinstall the Disk that came with my card. I have reinstalled several times and with the same result. I have no virus scan installed on my computer at this time as I have just reinstalled my OS. When I installed the sound card, it installed fine. Usually it will come up with a box when I restart that says the sound card is improperly installed, but it didnt this time. Can you please help me find a driver update for my card that will actually work, if there are no problems with the installation...... I am running Windows 98SE, 533 Mhz Processor, 256 MB Ram, 40 GB HArd Dri've. Thank you.

    hrnlguy2004,
Try the steps in Knowledgebase on Cleansweeping.

Try moving the card to another PCI slot also before installation.

  • HP Laserjet 1200 and Driver Updates

On the "Download Drivers and Software" support page for the HP Laserjet 1200 printer, there is an option, "Automatically check to see if your driver needs updating".
A machine that I am supporting is having a MS Word collating issue (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't) and I don't know if its a driver issue or not.  The machine is XP SP3.
If I click on this link, obviously it will check the drivers, but:
    1) Will it give me the option to automatically update the drivers if it finds they are outdated, and
    2) How do I roll back to the old driver if the update introduces problems?
Since this potential driver update isn't going through the normal MS XP driver update routine in Device Manager, I'm leery that I won't be able to recover if something goes wrong.

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
    I hope this helps.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
