Audigy 2 ZS + Microphone Is

I have an incredibly annoying problem with my microhpone, and it seems a great deal of other people do as well. I'm using an Altec Lansing AHS602i Gaming Headset on an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Both my headphones and mic cable have 6.5mm connections attached to them and are connected to the front of my I/O dri've. The output volume on my headphones and the recording quality on my mic is fine. It's the mic output volume that is extremely low. Even with all volume/mic settings turned up in the volume control panel, in games, on my headset and on my I/O dri've, the recording volume is barely audible.
Also, I have an issue with steam games. When I start up a steam game, such as Half-Life or Half-Life 2, my recording device is automatically changed to Wave, when my recording device was initially set to Line-In /Mic before I started up the game. The only solution I've found for this is to alt tab into windows and set the recording device back to Line-In /Mic, then alt tab back into the game. I've tried changing the command "voice_forcemicrecord" from to 0, but that didn't help.
Is there a solution to either of these issues? Is Creative working on new drivers that will fix these issues?Message Edited by skulleh on 09-28-2005 04:0 AMMessage Edited by skulleh on 09-28-2005 04: AM

This is down to the game itself. As long as you set the mixer for the card to the settings you want, that's all you need to do on the card.
Here is a specific page on the Steam website, referring to a problem like this:
http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-...hp?p_faqid=237
And some generic microphone troubleshooting/settings:
http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-...php?p_faqid=26
If those don't help, I'd advise you contact them directly to see what they advise, it seems to be down to the game itself, it defaults to the mic setting rather than accept the record setting you have chosen in the mixer.

  • Audigy 4 Microphone Issue, He

I recently purchased an Audigy 4 Sound Card. My headset was a logitech; it worked fine right up until I installed the Audigy 4. Now I've got awesome sound, but cannot record; or talk in my Teamspeak. I've done all the normal checks in making sure my card was selected in Teamspeak and making sure that my microphone is not muted. I then purchased another headset, A eDimensional Audio FX with force feed back. This thing is killer, but guess what, no microphone there either. I can take both headsets and hook them up to my older computer and it works fine. I have installed, uninstalled and re-installed all the lastest drivers and still no go.
I can even take a regular "stick" microphone and plug it into the new sound card and voice recording works fine. Now here comes the stupid question:
There are two hookups on the new headset...one USB and the other end has the regular twin plugs for speakers and microphone. Should my headset be listed in the properties under, control panel, sound and audio? Because if its supposed to be there it aint.
God I hope someone can help me with this....this is driving me absolutely insane.
    Thanks!

Applications can change the recording source by themselves. Some games which expect the microphone to be plugged into the first microphone jack on the card will by default change the recording source to vanilla "mic."
There's currently no way to lock the recording source at the moment.

  • SB Audigy Platinum Microphone Line2/Mic2 settings h

I have the original SB Audigy Platinum that includes the external bay device. When plugging a headset into the headphone and line2/mic2 connectors, the headphones work and the microphone on the headset does not. I have done some investigation and it appears that the default audio in device is the microphone. I believe that the microphone points to the mic in connector on the PCI soundcard. If I use the Sound Mixer I can manually change the audio in from microphone to line/mic2 and the headset microphone works. However if I stop the using the microphone and then try and use it again I discover that the setting has been changed back to microphone. So everytime we want to use the microphone we must go to the sound mixer and manually make the change. Is there anyway to save the setting line2/mic2 to make it permanent? One of the reasons for having the external bay device to allow the headet to be connected and disconnected without reaching around the back. I am tryng to make this easy for my wife to use (with Skype) without the hassle of the extras ste
    ps.
    Thanks.

Jeremey, thanks for your reply. This is one of those classic issues where the application folk (like IM clients and Skype) say to ask the SB folk what can be done and you (the SB folk) ask if the application owners can change their applications. So I am exploring options. Gi'ven that we don't use the 'mic in' (mic - microphone) connector on the PCI card, is there any way to reset the Audigy so that the external bay line/mic2 can be recognized as mic or the microphone? Perhaps there's a jumper or soft switch setting? Otherwise, is there anyway at all from the SB side (card, jumpers, drivers, Creative apps) to set the microphone to line2/mic2? Like I say I am looking for ideas from the SB side.
    Thanks again for your reponse.

  • Audigy SE & Microphone Crackli

    Hello!
I just purchased an Audigy SE, and everything seemed to be working fine. Sound works GREAT, but the problem is that the sound produced over the microphone is pure crackling. The program that's causing this problem is Ventrilo, and thats the only program I'm ever going to use for the microphone.
I'm running Windows Vista, and under the "Recording" tab, I've got S/PDIF-In set at the default. The microphone says it's currently unavailible. Now, I've set the microphone as the default device and turned the volume all the up, and tapped the microphone to see if it gets a response - it does. Then when I go into Ventrilo to test the device, no sound comes from the microphone at all.
What's the problem? The drivers are installed, and it's starting to really frustrate me since I had to replace my older sound card for issues like this.
    PLEASE HELP!

Never mind. I looked through a search, and apparently the SE is designed for 600-ohm impedance mics. My HP-s are 2200-ohm. *starts looking for a new sound card*

  • Audigy 4 - Microphone Recording is

Hello everyone. I recently purchased and installed an Audigy 4 Pro. It is an awesome card, and everything is outstanding except for one major issue. As many of you know, the product comes with the 'Creative sound mixer'. In that mixer, on the extreme right, there is the recording option. It should be set to 'Line in /Mic'. When it is, the microphone works fine.
However, that option frequently changes itself on its own to either 'wave' or 'line 3'. When this happens, it is essentially as if my microphone was muted. It does this completely on its own. I have updated all drivers, all applicatoins, read the FAQ thread, and sent Creative an e-mail. I have yet to hear anything from creative that solves my problem or lets me know something I was not informed about prior.
Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions as to how I can get this resolved? Thank you to anyone in advance willing to assist.

Applications can change the recording source by themselves. Some games which expect the microphone to be plugged into the first microphone jack on the card will by default change the recording source to vanilla "mic."

  • Audigy 2 microphone input issue

I'm having a heck of a time this this Audigy 2 card. I have my headset plugged into the included front panel but the default microphone input is the card. I can change the input in the control panel to the front panel but windows changes it back to the card automatically. I have nothing plugged into the card directly. When the input is change to the front panel everything works normally. I've tried uninstalling an reinstalling the drivers with no luck. Using winxp 32 bit. Any ideas?

Since posting this message, I have had several people contact me to see if a solution has been developed as they had the same issue. Alas nothing and not a word from Creative about it.

I still cant get the microphone to work on this card.
I have tried uninstalling the drivers and re-installing ...nothing. 5. Speakers work, 5. headphones work (i am getting very good clear sound, however the mic on the headset doesn't work. I have tried taking the mic out and putting back in the pink connector....nothing. I have tried messing around with the surround mixer (record device is set to mic)......what am i missing? Is it blatenly obvious?

  • Audigy 4 - microphone not working with Ventr

Hello,?I have a brand-new SB Audigy 4. Pretty much everything works all right; I use headphones and I can hear everything just fine. However, I use a voice-chatting program called Ventrilo, and for some reason my friends cannot hear me speaking into my mic while I'm using that program. All of the Ventrilo settings are correct (confirmed working with another sound card). ?When I go to Sound and Audio Devices on the control panel, and go to the Voice tab, and click on the "Test Hardware" button, my mic will then work for literally about one minute (i.e. my friends can hear me via the program again). After that, they can no longer hear me because my mic has stopped working again. I have eliminated all other program factors, have updated my drivers, etc., and nothing works. I see that there are other people who have posted on this board with the same problem and have gotten basically no helpful answers. I have tried all of the solutions suggested to them as well, such as disabling my onboard audio, checking my BIOS for IRQ conflicts, doing a clean boot, reinstalling my drivers, and nothing worked for me. Here is a SS of my audio mixer in case someone needs to see it. http://www.theglasswolf.com/audiomixer.jpg? Note, the S/PDF-in and Auxiliary controls are unmuted right now because I was trying EVERYTHING to fix this issue. They normally would be?X-ed out. Is there anything that can be done, or is there some kind of permanent, unfixable conflict with Ventrilo/Teamspeak and the Audigy 4?

    Hey guys,
I do have the same problem and it makes me realy mad. I own the Audigy 2 ZS, what is a cool (verry expensi've soundcard in my country) soundcard and it doesnt work with Team speak. I do need it pretty much for Counter strike play.
Mic is ok, its on and pluged correctly. WIN XP does not even detect my mic in the hw check. Team speak work for a few minutes when I use Creative Restere Defaults, but afer I switch to the aplication (game) I want to use it for, Mic stop to work and I can only hear others.
    Pleeeeees Ill apriciate any sugestions.

  • SB audigy 2 microphone problems when running fullscreened a

Sounds odd, but here is the deal.
Drivers works perfectly, nothing strange, thing is, im using Ventrilo(voice chat prog.) pretty much and here it comes:
?the other people cant hear me when im tabbed into a fullscreen game or any other fullscreen application, as soon as i tab out (app/game still running) they can hear me.
I've tried to disable the built in soundcard on the motherboard, same thing, tried tons of differnt drivers (if they gainst all odds are failing) same thing. I have tried to change settings for EAX, spdid etc etc and still the same problem. Tried loads of different settings in ventrilo aswell.
    Im running Vista64.
Im running out of ideas now and hopefully someone has a clue of what it can be or anything to try.

A friend of mine had the exact same problem after he reinstalled windows. (And installed SB drivers from CD)
He installed the latest SB drivers and the problem went away.
Now i ofcourse dont know if you allready have the latest drivers.
But thats one solution to the problem i've found.

  • Audigy Platinum Pro does not work for microphone!!! CREATIVE HE

I recently bought the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro mainly for guitar recording. The external unit that i plug my guitar into plays alright through the LINE IN 2 (I find it works better when you don't put a line out to your amp), though not spectacular, but does not play at all through the LINE IN which is designated mainly for a microphone (which i use for acoustic guitars). Even when I try plugging the mic in LINE IN 2 I have to scream to make it just register, and when I do it sounds fuzzy and barely audible. When I first bought it a fortnight ago it seemed to work ok, there appears nothing wrong with my sound blasters and i have tried the recording on a number of different software programs.
The recording dial is cranked and although i don't seem to have the option to use the mic boost which seems strange as it is a powerful computer, the recording level on the sound desktop does not make a difference.
Can anybody help me with this? Is CREATIVE aware that this is common complaint and are avoiding the issue?
Is it something wrong with the hardware or the operating system - Windows XP Home?
If so, should I take the soundcard back? The recording capabilities were the reason i bought this card!

    Update.....
Anyway, to resolve this problem (after some discussion direct with Creative Support) I discovered that there is a trick in the Creative Surround Mixer that is not explained (at all) in the documentation, not is it very intuiti've.
In the part of the mixer with all the sliders the box on the left (ie. vol, bass, treble) is the master speaker volume, the box on the right with the single slider is the recording level (the icon above the slider selects the source) and all the sliders between the two boxes control the levels of each source going to the speakers. To ensure a pure recording and prevent any of the input sources going to the speakers you will need to mute any input devices you have connected in this section.
To put it simply, if you don't want your microphone input to go to the speakers mute them in the mixer. Only the single slider in the box on the right hand side of the mixer panel will set recording levels.
    Hope this hel

  • Problem with microphone, Audigy 2, and a Dell (not the same problem as the 8 million other topi

Hello,?I recently reformatted my hard dri've and had to reinstall drivers for nearly everything, etc. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, and an Audigy 2 sound card. My microphone worked fine before the reformat and then it was broken. Its not that it wasn't picking up my voice (I have read that the typical problem with Dell computers and microphones was that you had to almost scream into the microphone to get it to hear anything). When I tried to record something, it would record what was coming out of my speakers, and not what I was saying (no matter how hard I yelled). So, when I was playing Counterstrike, everybody heard my gun shooting and grenades exploding etc. instead of my voice (which was what was coming out of my headphones). So I downloaded the ISO available here and through some complicated, random process of uninstalling and reinstalling the various sound drivers I found on the internet, I managed to get my microphone to work perfectly. I changed some settings before I went to bed on Sunday night, and when I tried to use my microphone on Monday it didn't work again (and I had the same problem as before).
So I reformatted again and am trying to figure out what order I installed and uninstalled etc.
So my question is, has anyone else has this specific problem (when attempting to record it records what comes out of the speakers/headphones and not what is being said into the microphone) and remembers how to fix it's? What I did was really bizarre, something like downloading Dell drivers, installing them, uninstalling them, downloading Creative drivers, installing them, installing Dell drivers on top of them, uninstalling both, downloading the ISO, reinstall the Creative drivers, install the files from the ISO, or something like that. Obviously that includes a lot more steps than are needed and because part 3 of the ISO is currently down (I don't have a CD burner so had to redownload the whole thing (I just used a CD emulator last time)) I can't work on it right now :/

Actually, it's not a problem but a setting. On surround mixer .rec source setting --> when you set it to What U Hear everything you hear becomes recorded --> for microphone recording set it to microphone (also set "monitoring while recording" on/off).

  • Microphone connection problems with SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro

I am using an old SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro purchased back in 2004. It is installed on a PC that I stopped using it in 2005. The pc has no problems and I have started using it again. My problem is that I cannot connect the microphone. Everything was working fine at the time I was this pc including the microphone. At that time I had installed win xp pro( no service packs were available). But after I had to move physically in another location(connection and disconnections etc)and a pc format I cannot use the microphone again. I am trying to connect it to the front panel and to the appropriate places as indicated in the user manual but nothing is happening. I have connected properly the sound cart and all other components are working fine. I checked whether the microphone is checked to silent mode and all other software/di'vers nonetheless everything is working fine. I am now using Win xp pro sp3. I have contacted Creative and they told me to check the mic boost option. But there is no mic boost option now. I clearly recall that there was one when I was using this pc in 2004 under win xp pro(again no service packs were available at that time). One solution I could think is to format again and install some old version of win xp pro (say 2003 or so) and then update to current. But I do not want to format again since I do not have that version of windows available(copyright issues may also raise) plus for some other reasons I do not think I should mention them on an Internet forum. I also tried to download the latest drivers ans apps form creative ,clean installation from the orginal cd including Daniel_K pack and everything someone could think without solving the issue.Creative during our last communication in a very polite way told me to stop emailing them and try to solve the issue on my own as this product is no longer supported. One thing I neglected to mention above is that the mic boost option is available in the motherboard sound chipset. I checked it in one of my attempts to solve the problem. But it disappears when installing the SB driver. I know that if I manage to configure mic boost in the driver settings I will solve the problem. But once again there is no such option. Could you please provide with some suggestions and solutions on how to solve this?. Thank you very in advance for any suggestion and help

  • Audigy 4 Pro microphone problems in Win 7 64-bit

    Hi there,
Since I put my Audigy 4 Pro card into my newer PC with Win 7 64-bit the microphone only seems to work when it wants to, or works but sounds messed up.
I've waited a while before posting about this because I thought the newer drivers would sort out the problem, but it remains the same.
The card/microphone works without a problem if I put it in a PC with Win XP.
Sometimes the microphone will not pick up any sound at all. Other times it will work, but only for? game, say Heroes of Newerth. Then in Windows using teamspeak, people describe the sound like I'm talking through a fan. Tried using the in-game VOIP but I get the same result.
After a restart or just some random day, people in Heroes of Newerth would discribe the VOIP from my side as if I was talking under water(or through a fan), but then it would work fine for teamspeak or Bad Company 2 or any other game. I used these 2 games as an example since its what I'm playing mostly at the moment.
There doesnt seem to be any consistancy with the problem.
I have recently removed the sound card from my PC and now forced to use the onboard sound that reminds me of the sound of a clockradio.
    My PC specs are:
    Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard
    Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz E8400
    8GB RAM
4 x WD Raptor HDD Stripe RAID
    ATi Radeon 4870 52MB
    Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro?(model number shown?is SB0290)
    Using?a Sennheiser PC350 Headset.
What I have tried my side so far:
Tried latest and older drivers for Win 7 64-bit
Reinstalled Windows 7 several times with different drivers.
Tried disabling all devices except for line/mic
    Tried other input devices.
Tried with different audio and sound codecs, tried without any.
Might have been or 2 other things I tried I cannot think of now.
Is there anyone that experienced similar problems and got it fixed? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Bill,
Can you be more specific about which steps were not recorded?
There some things that will not be recorded. The release notes list some known issues.
    Known Issues:
Tutorial Builder can only capture actions in Photoshop that are recorded by the ScriptListener plug-in.  While this includes most of Photoshop's functionality, some features/tools are not recorded.  In particular, brushing actions are not captured.  We hope to address this in future releases of Tutorial Builder.
Some of the the actions that Tutorial Builder captures are not yet instrumented to produce detailed text instructions in the final tutorial.  For such actions, the generated tutorial will include a step that says "The (action name) is not yet supported by Tutorial Builder," and the tutorial author will have to edit the HTML to provide more descriptive text.  Note that the "Show me in Photoshop" link is still generated for such actions.
Some Photoshop actions allow the user to specify a set of parameters in multiple ways, but Tutorial Builder cannot detect how the user specified those settings during the recorded demonstration.  Thus, the text in the generated tutorial may not describe exactly what was demonstrated.  For example, in the Image > Adjustments > Levels tool dialog box, you can update the parameters using three different eye droppers.  Since Tutorial Builder does not know which (if any) of these eye droppers were used, the text for a Levels adjustment does not describe exactly how the settings are specified.  Again, the tutorial author can simply edit the HTML to provide a more accurate description.
    Thanks!

  • Audigy 4 platinum pro Microphone im

Simple one here, i'm just about to buy some leads to connect my condensor mic to my external hub. I just bought a preamp, yet don't have all the leads for it to work. Will a 'balanced /4" TRS connector' fit into the 'Mic imput'/'line-in' of my Audigy 4 platinum pro soundcard? This is opposed to an 'Unbalanced /4" TS connector'. Help will be appreciated! Carry on being CREATIVE
    P3U6!SUn 3H+

    Hi there,
I nearly freaked out when I got the platinum pro as I thought I could get no decent power in direct guitar and microphones. You said you bought a preamp, but there is a preamp switch for Line In/Mic on the front of the hub. I have been using this for boosting mic and guitar signals and it is okay but was wandering what preamp you bought and if you rate it.
Hope I haven't upset you by telling you about the built in pre-amp as it probably isn't the best quality anyway.
    Cheers,
    Paul D.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Microphone Probs

Hello, I have had a frustrating time getting my microphone to work consistently using this card and Windows 7 x64. Here is what is happening:
Usually when I first boot up, my microphone will not work with Ventrilo or Windows Sound Recorder (no bars in the recording meter). If I enable Line in playback I can hear myself crystal clear all of the time so this is a good control. The mic is working, but the input isn't being passed onto programs. If I open/close ventrilo maybe 20-30 times I will be able to get the microphone to work. Usually it first starts out choppy after about 5 ventrilo open/closes and then it is finally sounds good. When I first get started trying to get the microphone to work, I won't see the green bars light up in the equalizer for the mic recording device. But once it gets started, I see the lights working. I DON'T CHANGE ANY SETTINGS BETWEEN WHEN THE MIC WORKS AND DOESN'T WORK. It just starts to work. My friend says getting my mic to work is like starting up an old Model A. You have to crank on it a while.
Drivers I have tried but all behave the same:
Default Windows 7 creative Audigy 2 drivers
    Updated Audigy 2 drivers (July 2009 ) 2_8_00
    Daniel K Drivers (3.6)
In Windows recording devices Mic I have tried the following:
Turning On/Off "allow programs to take exclusi've control of the device"
    Different bit rates
    Disabling the other recording devices
    In Ventrilo I have tried:
Direct Sound on/off (makes no difference), works/doesn't work both ways
Hardware Mixer NONE/Line, makes no difference.
Currently have all input devices disabled except the two below.
