Balances grouped on inv. category

Hi,
This pertains to oracle inventory management. Inventory category based values.
We are unable to get accurately develop a report which is based on inventory values grouped on whole category.
For example.
What is value of stationary items we have received, issued and what is balance in July 2010.
Formate:
Category Amount(of inventory) received Amount(of inventory) issued Balance
A 10000 10000 5455487
In short:
A summary that shows category wise balances.
Note: We have business practices that force us to do past dated entries, and oracle says, thats why We cannot show the have the exact values.
Can anybody help ?

I don't think that is true.
You should be able to get the data you need by using the transaction_date to group.
You need to use the mtl_material_transaction table.
You may not be able to do this in one single sql statement. But I am sure a small pl-sql block will let you achieve what you want.

General item category grp is used in the sales processes like BOM, where we have higher item category and the default item
categories.
General item category grp would refer to the higher level item category and item category grp would refer to the default item category
General Item category Group is an extension item category group. Example: if one select item catagory group as NORM, but under item category group, NORM can further be classified as Service item, packagaing item or Normal
item using "general item category group".
Also, General item category group is maintained at client level, this field can be maintain from Basic Data View of Material Master. Thus in case item category group is missing, then general item category group is used for item category determination.
Item category group determines how a material is processed in the sales order. When processing sales and distribution
documents, the system uses the item category group to determine the item category and proposes it in the respective document. Item category group is defined in the Sales Org View 2 of Material Master Record.
Example, in the standard SAP System, the item category group NORM is defined for materials kept in stock and the group DIEN for services and non-stock material

Windows 7: Service unknown when using load balancing group

I try to run SAP GUI 7.10 on Windows 7. I use a load balancing group to connect to the server. The direct access to one of our cluster nodes works ok, but when clicking the link to the load balancing group says "load balancing error on logon 88: connection to messaging server not possible (rc=9)" (translated from german).
What is happening here? It works good on Windows XP. Do I have to use another saplogon.ini or something?

It sounds like a good security feature but as we see here it´s a pain in the @$$ for administrators...
Well - the purpose of it is to disable the ability of malware and virusses spreading around. I consider it as a security breach if a local user is able to simply copy files to the operating systems main directory. A user working with a frontend PC should not have local administrator rights at all; all software requiring this badly designed.
If you use the SAPGUI installation server you can distribute services, saplogon.ini etc. using the installation server provided service without the need of users having to have local administration rights:
Note 512040 - Distributing "services", "saplogon.ini", and similar files.
I just think that "administrators" must learn to do work properly as designed with operating systems without just "copying files around" in system directories (and I don't exclude me in that context).

Step-by-step process of grouping Items in Category Sets and more accurately into the correct Category

Honestly, I have never had a customer ask me 'how' do I identify which Items go together in a specific category. I am thinking I start with the Functional Area (Inv, PO, OM, WM, etc..) attributes, and start the grouping there. The customer is asking for "best practices" - any input would be appreciated.
I have a fresh install of Oracle Inventory, Purchasing, Order Management, Service - We have 2,000,000 part numbers.
How have you instructed your customers/clients (both Internal and External) in the PROCESS of categorizing all of their Items?
What is the Step-by-step process of grouping those 2MM items into accurate Category Sets and more accurately into the most correct Category.
I would 'assume' it would start with some analysis with all the Items listed with all the item attributes, and start with ECCN (for example) or Item Type grouping. Then...(?)

How to create a custom search portlet that groups results by category

Hello,
Is it possible to create a custom search portlet whose search results are displayed on a page grouped by Category? Basically the results page should have Category heading followed by search results.
I realize this is not canned functionality but any ideas on how to accomplish this using PLSQL APIs is also welcome.

one workaround i could think of is using the CM views to search for content that belongs to a category and display it in a custom way.

this only allows you to search for the meta-data available in the CM views but not the content of an item that is available when doing a search.
in the next major portal release we will have a publich search API that can be used for these type of requirements. you can execute your search and format the results in the way you want.

Query Group in Query Category different with Authorization's group number

Hi All,
In Authorization screen, it allowed to authorize up to 20 query group
Whereas in Query Category window, it has only max 15 query group.
Anyone has idea on why is the difference?

Error in screen seq. group in item category TAN

Hi,
when i am cretaing item category TAN in S&D and entering the screen seq. group N system giving message that this value does not contain in table TVHB but in SE16 all the groups are there in the table TVHB.
Can any one help to resolve this issue?

since last update of numbers (V3.0) it does not seem posssible to group rows by categories or I may have missed something. I have browsed online manual, looking for 'category' but nothing matched my request.

The Categories feature was dropped in the new version. You can use the old version if you like. It's still there and still works the same as before.

SUNW.gds for jboss + Load Balancing Group = Failed to connect to host ...

Hi all!
In a simple two node cluster (Solaris cluster 3.2) with quorum server I've created a resource for jboss 5.1.0 using SUNW.gds. It is supposed to be load-balanced. To achieve that I've followed instructions from [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18728_01/html/821-1258/gds-25.html]
The command I've used to create the resource was:
clresource create -g scalable-rg -t SUNW.gds -p resource_dependencies=vip -p Scalable=TRUE -p Start_timeout=400 -p Stop_timeout=400 -p Probe_timeout=30 -p Port_list=8080/tcp -p Start_command="/opt/jboss-5.1.0.GA/bin/run.sh -b 0.0.0.0" -p Child_mon_level=0 -p Failover_enabled=TRUE -p Stop_signal=15 -p Load_balancing_policy=LB_STICKY_WILD jboss-rs
The whole configuration seems to work, but when the second node joins cluster, resource with jboss can't bind to shared ip address. There are many entries in /var/adm/messages like:

However, after some time, it finally somehow binds to shared ip and port 8080.
Is this something I should be worried about? Or it is a normal thing, since e.g. it takes some time to bring the interface with shared ip up? I've never had to install such configuration, and I don't have neither intuiton, nor the experience. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi, a couple of things to check:
- did you check that both JBOSS instances were up and running?
- can you check in the logs (on both nodes) when a message saying something like "service .... registered..." showed up. This should show up for both JBOSS instances. From the time of the second "registered" message, the load balancer should sending incoming requests to both instances using its distribution mechanism
- did you check the vip address on one of the nodes on an external interface and on lo0 on the other
- connection refused looks like a server problem; can you connect to the JBOSS instance locally?

Whether we can make Material group and Accout assignment link in PR.?
Suppose I am creating a PR and selecting a Account Assignment , only specific material groups I shoulb able to select , whether I can make that settings ?

If I have selected a account assignment ,(for eg 'A') , in PR , then whether I can restrict the materiaL Groups , in such a way that , material groups which should be used for Asset only can be selected in PR ?
Suppose I am having material groups A1, A2, A3, for asset .
And M1,M2,M3 for Misc Non Stock .
Then suppose if I am creating a PR with account assignment 'A' , then only I should be able to select A1 or A2 or A3 .
If I am selecting M1,M2,M3 , then it shud give some error .
This is possible ?

Logon to load balancing group

Hi,
I have configured logon groups. I could connect to this group from PC where i have perrmisions to edit c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\services file. In this file i inserted sapmsPRD 3606/tcp. That's works. But problem is in other PC, there no perrmisions to edit this file, and i couldn't connect to configured logon group. So, how i could solve this problem with no perrmisions to edit service file ?

One possibility we use is a direct call of sapgui in an icon like this:
C:\Program Files\SAPgui\SAPgui.exe /M/server/S/3600/G/SPACE
This works without any additional entries in etc/services.

Order Type: QT/OR/...
Item Cat Grp: from material master mm03 sales view
Usage: normally 'blank'
Higher Lvl Item Cat.: use when BOM explosion is involved

Due to some wrong configurations for one derived depreciation area (Group Assets) values have not updated in that derived depreciation area and related group assets. Now how to update the same APC values in derived depreciation area and Group Assets from already posted APC values in real depreciation areas.

Order type and Item category group

Can anyone tell me which is the relation between order type and Item category group from material master ??
In fact the problem is that I have created a material and when I want to create new sales order it gives me this errror:
"No item category available (Table T184 ZORDER ZITGR)"
Is there a tranzaction where I can assign Item category group ZITGR to sale order type ZORDER or something like that??
What should i do?

Goto T-Code VOV4 and maintain the table
Sales Doc type + Item Category Group + Usage + Higher level Item Category = Item Category
TA + NORM + Nil + Nil = TAN
If you have Customized your own Document Type and Item Category Group and Item Category then give your
Sales Doc type (ZORDER)+ Item Category Group (ZITGR)+ Usage + Higher level Item Category = Item Category (ZTAN)
