Rounding of decimals in totals

I have noticed a difference in the behavior of BPS layouts vs. BEx queries (or using the LISTCUBE transaction to display InfoProvider contents directly).
In the layout, I have chosen to display 0 decimal places for a key figure. In a BEx query upon the same data, using the same basic design as the BPS layout, I do the same thing (i.e. no decimal places, round to the nearest whole dollar).
BEx appears to total these amounts correctly. That is, it totals up the raw values (which have their full decimal places internally) and then rounds up. The BPS layout, on the other hand, appears to only be totaling up the already-rounded individual values. This leads to slight differences between the totals as shown in the BPS layout vs. the BEx query. However, these differences are enough to make many of our users nervous about BPS.
Am I missing something basic in BPS configuration? Is there some setting that influences this behavior to be more like BEx (the behavior I view as more correct).

This thread is precisely the issue we are having with some of our layouts. We have allot of activity rate items and rounding is becoming an issue on some of the higher end calculations.
We can see the 'hierarchy' icon on the first step of the layout generation. But clicking that does not give us an option for 'calc data locally' ?? Presuambly we're looking in the wrong place OR there is a setting deeper that enables this cure.
 Clicking the Hierarchy icon yields a dialogue box with theses items
o Non-Hierarchical Data Model
o Hierarchical Data Model
Hierarchy type
o BW Hierarchy with Postable nodes
o BPS Characteristic Hierarchies
Totalling Logic

BADI method of copy

What is the BADI method of copy from basic cube to transactional?

Hi,
Not sure about a BADI method but you can use the inbuilt copy function for copying data from basic to transactional cube. Also, if the data size is big you can write update rules from basic to transactional and load data. The only diff in 2 methods is the delta (don't confuse with BW delta) and cummulative write. When you use BPS it write's a delta record
eq Existing record with a key figure as 100
copy data from basic using BPS function key figure value is 150, then it will write a record with 50. If you use BW route then it will write a record with 150 then the actual data becomes 150+100 = 250.

How to get BW-BPS variable value into Visual Basic?

Scenario:
Time characteristic 0FISCYEAR has a variable ZVFYEAR. In layout this time characteristic is defined as DATA COLUMN. When user changes VFYEAR variables value i want to get the value of variable into Visual Basic and to format header for table in the layout.
How to get BW-BPS variable value into Visual Basic?

If i understand your requirments correctly ,you need to read the value of the Variable and Put it on the layout. Here is how i would solve this,
Read the value of the variable using an ABAP program.The logic for this would be to read the variable value and post it on the layout on a cell.You can do this by calling the ABAP program on opening the layout.this can be done using LB_EXIT_FM T-code. Now using the SAP delivered SAPAfterDataPut macro, read the cell in which you have placed the variable values and assign it to the necessary values you want to on the layout.All this will be done before the layout opens.

Integrated Planning - trying to load data from basic to realtime cube

I have created a mulitprovider for my basic and realtime cube, and trying to copy data from basic to realtime using standard copy function in IP. It is not erroring out but data is not getting copied either. Both cubes having exactly the same structure. I can do a export datasource or a BPS multiplanning area..but I need a solution in IP..Any help would be appreciated...Thanks much..

Infoprovider --> Multiprovider
Agg Level --> Selected fields need to be copied
Filter --> None selected, wanted to copy as is
Pl. Fnc --> Standard Copy.
                char usage: Selected infoprovider for 'changed'
                to parameters: selected all key figs ( percent and amount)

Help to fill BPS Cube with same data in a Cube with these conditions

I need some help in implementing BPS in a small project. (Integrated Planning is not available).
An existing cube, Cube1 has: Year/month, Year, char1, char2, keyfig1, keyfig2
Keyfig1 is filled directly from R3 with actuals; keyfig2 (planned values) is filled manually filled with a monthly flat file load.
Now, there is a change in direction to fill keyfig2 through BPS features and bring in additional key figures all based on keyfig1.
Cube2 has been created only for the purpose of this BPS project. Cube2 was a copy of Cube1(with no data). For Cube1, I have created a Planningarea1 and PlanningLevel1; and for Cube2, Planningarea2 and PlanningLevel2 in BPS0.
How do I fill the BPS Cube2 with the same data as in BPS Cube1 with the following conditions:
keyfig1 : same as source value from R3 (not modifiable)
keyfig2 : modifiable by users only on the first and second of the month.
keyfig3 : keyfig1 * 1.1
keyfig4 : keyfig1 of previous Year/month
keyfig5 : same as source value from R3 (But modifiable)
keyfig6 : same as keyfig5 as of last day of 20th of the current month (not modifiable)
The goal is to create a multi planning area to join the two cubes. Hints all that will also be appreciated.

Your thought of having a multi area is right.
Create a multi area and being the basic areas to which you have assigned cube 1 and cube 2 underneath the multi area.
UNder your planing package, create a function of type Formula and create a parameter set like this:
= * 1.1.
Just this one line will is enough.
TO get keyfig 4 as previous month's key fig; you need another fox. To do this, you need to have a BPS variable to et previous month and use this variable in the parameter set.
Your fox will be like this.
DATA CURRMONTN TYPE 0CALMONTH.
DATA PREMONTH TYPE 0CALMONTH.
{KEYFIG4, CURRMONTH} = {KEYFIG1, PREMONTH}.
To make users modify only on days 1 and 2, you need to define a dara slice.

Dear All,
I have a very basic requirement in creating variables that would accept single values from the user in BPS.
Could anyone pls provide me the steps in doing so?
I am able to create and use varibles with value ranges but could not find the option to create variables with single values.

Several solutions to this problem. I believe we may have discussed this over the support e-mail, but I'll share it again here so that it can help others as well.
First, as I discussed in the e-mail, Audition defaults to support Pan Law which prevents content mixed to the center of a Stereo field from being louder than the same content panned far left or right. This provides a -3dB drop to center content by default, but you can disable this completely by entering Preferences > Multitrack and setting the Default Panning Mode to Left/Right Cut (Logarithmic)
Now, when you create a new Multitrack session, there is an option to specify the Master channelization. Here, you can select Mono, Stereo, or 5.1 and this will be the default channelization mode for a basic mixdown operation regardless of your clip content, though can be overridden when exporting a session mixdown.
Next, if you just choose the menu item Multitrack > Mixdown Session to New File... it will always default to the Master channelization. This command does not write to disk, it is a preview or pre-processing step. If you wish to export your multitrack session mixdown directly to disk, in your desired channelization and file format, please use the command File > Export > Multitrack Mixdown > Entire Session... You will then have the complete set of output options, including the option to output at any channelization you like and the format you prefer.
Here, I've disabled the default 5.1 output and selected a Mono mixdown instead.
I've now changed the file format settings as well to MP3, 64K.
With most of these configuration details, you should only need to set them once and these will remain the defaults for any subsequent projects, unless modified again. The Export Multitrack Mixdown dialog will reset the Mixdown options to match the default output, and the MP3 settings may update to reflect the kBps setting nearest your session sample rate.

BW authorizations in BPS layout

Dear all,
My question may seem basic, but I don't have any experience with authorizations.
I need to use already existing BW authorizations in my BPS layouts, so well, I created auth. variables on the needed characteristics and assigned it to my layout.
==> nothing changes when I'm launching the layout.
I wonder if I need to ask the modification of the already existing BW roles in order to add field ACTVT? Will this have an impact on already existing BW reports for the users?
Also, does something need to be done in RSSM (or other T-code) in order to activate the auth. for my planning cubes?

The objects you mentionned talk about area, planning, etc,... so they are usefull when a user wants to launch a layout in order to let him launch/plan it or not, etc... . That's the first step, and that doesn't interest me.
Second step is that when launching, the user will get his layout. This layout will be generated regarding the design I made in BPS0 and then also the variables I've used.
If I've restricted my planning level by using variables of type authorization on an char. that is in the lead column of my planning layout, it should restrict the diplayed/available rows regarding that authorization (ex : only company code 1000 for user A; company code 2000 for user B ; company code 1000 and 2000 for user C ==> coming from reporting authorizations in BW)
So I really think we don't speak about the same thing... or it's me that doesn't understand! (that's also possible )

BP search by role brings no hits although BPs exist...

Hi All,
This is a bit of a long message but please bear with it....
We currently have a system issue that is causing duplicate BPs to be created.
We have configured: Customer Relationship Management->Interaction Center WebClient->Master Data->Accounts->Define Account Identification Profiles
to define the "Maximum number of hits that appear in the results list." (this is from the documentation provided in SPRO) to be 100 and in the filters we define a role we have setup for "Customers".
What is actually being done in the system is that the the search goes off and searches the main business partner table (BUT000) and returns the first 100 entries it finds and It then trawls through the 100 hits and filter out those that are "Customers" and returns the hits to the screen.
So, if we do a search for "Smith" the search returns the first 100 hits (who are all Employees) and then filters this 100 for "Customers". This will return no hits as none of these have the Customer role against them.
Therefore the user will just create a new customer of that name and this is why we are getting loads of duplicates in the system.
It would be nice if we could ignore any BPs who's number starts with EM, as these are the employees imported from R/3 and cannot be used (as a customer) in our system due to Data Protection issues.
I have raised an OSS for this and the answer is, basically, is to increase to max hits (which will have an impact on performance) or implement our own code as this is standard functionality.
I am hoping others have came accross this issue and resolved the problem (I have searched the forums and not come accross anyone with the same though).

Hi,
Removing the Max hits has solved the problem.
I think we need to implement our own logic to restrict the number of hits brought back to the Web IC, but the fix will stop us creating duplicates.
