Battery issue.  Will Apple replace?

My iPhone 3G is less than a week old and is delivering horrific battery performance. I've read all the reviews as to what is "normal", and have followed Apple's instructions to get more life (3G, push, and wifi off; my screen is at about 10% brightness) to no avail. Below is a link to a screenshot I just took. With the above settings, I was only able to get about 22 hours standby, 2 hours usage, and 22 minutes talk.
The battery on this is absolute garbage. What is the point of buying the 3G if you can't reasonably use any of the features??

Tough to say -- My battery was good for about 24 hours the first couple of charges but I have read that the battery stretches about 10 or 12 charges into its life. Lately I can get about 48 hours of standby and 3 or 4 hours of usage.
I would keep an eye on it and after another week or two maybe go in and talk to apple.
I picked up a griffin powerbolt car charger so I don't see any downtime due to a battery issue for me. Plus, you should consider *everything the iphone does* and charging it every day or every other day - to me - isn't really a big deal.

  • Will Apple replace my battery for free?

I have a first gen 15" macbook pro - one of the first production runs which was subject to the battery recall in 2006 (remember? the one that apple insisted had absolutely nothing to do with Sony's exploding batteries...)
That battery was subsequently replaced under warranty in May 2008 - i had 3 year hardware warranty because i bought it through my uni. However in January this year, it's performance seemed to degrade somewhat so I called Apple - I was told that because Apple had already replaced it once, they would not replace it again, despite it still being within warranty, well below 300 cycles and capacity being in the region of 50% of initial according to Coconut Battery. I was told all i could do was try to calibrate it. I did this and things improved enough for me to drop it. Wish I hadn't because the warranty ended in February.
I am now in the position of no longer being under warranty and the battery capacity degraded to about 25% of initial capacity. Since i installed Snow Leopard I have had the Service Battery warning. Has anybody had any experiences with Out-Of-Warranty battery replacements? I'm thinking of taking it to an Apple Store but don't want to bother with the journey if they won't replace it - i'll order a non-apple higher capacity one online!

"Will Apple replace my battery for free?"
No one here can answer your question because this is a user to user forum. You will need to call Apple yourself & ask them.
    "Condition: Check Battery"
Means you need a new battery which you already know.
"Has anybody had any experiences with Out-Of-Warranty battery replacements?"
Not me personally. However, there have been cases reported here (if you do a fourm search) some users have had their batteries replaced out of warranty. Apparently, Apple does this on a _*case by case*_ basis.
Your best bet is to call Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2775 plead your case politely & see what they can do for you.
    Good luck!

  • Battery cycle count of 390 - will Apple replace my battery for free?

I've got a MacBook, late 2008 model. It has a cycle count of 390. I have no idea if this is a lot or not. The MacBook only will work when connected to the charger, the battery won't charge any longer.
Will Apple replace my battery for free? Or is a cycle count of 390 high and will I have to replace it myself...

No, battery is consumable under apple warranty so you have to burchase it. 390 cycle is ok, the effect will be seen when it reach <1000. see this is mine MBP, early 2011

  • My iPhone 5 dies at 20-24% it doesn't go all the way to 0%. Will apple replace my phone or fix my phone for free since its hardware problem and I have no money. This is my second iphone 5 replacement.

My iPhone 5 dies at 20-24% it doesn't go all the way to 0%. Will apple replace my phone or fix my phone for free since its hardware problem and I have no money. This is my second iphone 5 replacement. I have no apple care so I'm worried. My phone has NEVER touched water! I only get 1/5 of battery use. I've also spent 30$ at the apple store on screen protectors for nothing! I really don't have 220$ nor 50$ I am on a strict budget. I believe I have to pay 220 not 50 ford a phone replacement for accidental damage. I don't know what category this falls under. I really need a new phone or battery. HELP! Will I have to pay? Also my screen lighting is all topsy-tervy every I put my screen on highest it won't work I have to wait about a minute? Forgot to mention that my apps exit out by themselves all the time when Im using them.

So, have you tried a reset?  Restore from backup? Restore as new?  You seem to have a few problems but do not mention any action taken to resolve them.  What have screen protectors to do with anything?

  • Will Apple replace NVIDIA graphics card for free?

I've read a lot of discussions on here about the failing NVIDIA cards and Apple having to replace the entire motherboard. Some users have had the experience of Apple replacing the card free of charge, others have had to pay a hefty price. Is there any logic to Apple's discretion of the charge? If so, how do I navigate the "genius" system to avoid a fee? I am, of course, interested in paying as little as possible as this is obviously a manufacturing defect and the costs should be covered by the manufacturer; if there is not going to be a TOTAL RECALL!

Non-the-less you can option click on the battery icon menulet in the upper right. What is the stated condition?
You can recalibrate the batery if you have never done it.

Otherwise I would take it to an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider  (AASP) for evaluation, or call your nearest Apple Contact Center. Visit the Genius Bar at the Apple Retail Store,  make a reservation.

  • Will Apple replace my ipad2 for the second time

My first  ipad2 had a white spot on the screen and i took it to the center and the technician replaced it. It took bout two weeks for me to get the replacement ipad. Just now i found that my replacement ipad is a refurbish ipad, not a brand new as what the technician said. Refurbish serial number starts with DK.
Now, my replacement aka refurbish ipad has another problem not caused by me. Refer here for my initial posting,
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17698611#17698611
Will apple replace it with another refurbish ipad? Or hopefully i can get a spanking brand new just like when i bought it. :)
Hopefully apple do not have the so called " one time replacement policy" as this is not my fault.

The warranty is still valid, with 6 months remaining...
Im fine with refurb item from apple as the refurbs are being put into test much more rigorous than the original. Spec wise n performance should be equivalent as the new one.
But, its just a feeling of unhappy or unsatisfy.
Imagine you bougt a brand new car, then ur car got defect...u proceed to the dealer n walla, they agree to replace ur car. But the replacement car is refurb/second hand car that has been put into 'new condition'. Dont you expect that u should get a new car instead of refurb? Coz u paid much money for the new car, not for a refurb car. Unless, in the beginning you buy a refurb car then u have no right demanding for a new car for replacement.
NEW CAR= NEW CAR FOR REPLACEMENT
REFURB CAR= REFURB CAR FOR REPLACEMENT
    back to philly_phan question,
in the very very very first place when i have defect on my ipad, i sent in my brand new not a refurb ipad to the store, n the technician said it was going to be a new ipad for replacement,  not a secondhand/refurb whatsoever. I asked him thrice for conformation on this matter. But in the end................... and now the refurb is having a problem rite now.
Again, it just the issue of unsatisfactory not an issue on the spec or performance.

  • Will Apple replace my iPhone 5C?

I got my IPhone 5C September 29 and I've been experiencing problems...
    My iPhone:
    •Overheats
-to the point I can't touch it anymore...
especially when it is charging or on internet, but there has been times where I haven't been touching it and all apps are closed!
    •flashlight is almost never working!

•Siri tells me to come back at a later time
-i understand that sometimes she/he may be incapable of answering or something, but she has said this more than I have gotten answers
    •my phone will flicker black
-I will be in the middle of an app and the screen will go black for a second and be fine again... It seems like it has a glitch
-this also happens all the time
    •apps are constantly shutting down
-my phone will resort back to the home screen when the apps shut down, this happens frequently
    •battery drainage
-this might not be just my phone, but I will go to school and it will have 100% battery and come home with 20% or less!
-I don't stay after for anything normally... And I don't use it during school hours!
    •screen freezes up
All the time in apps or browsing on internet my phone will freeze up...! It annoys me a lot!
I really just don't know what to do about any of these^^^

The remedy is up to Apple; however ...
You should definitely contact them.  They will at a minimum check out your iPhone and make it right.

  • Will Apple replace my Ipod Touch 5g, Even if its over a year old?

I have an iPod touch 5g, which i bought in January of 2013. This iPod has been malfunctioning for a couple of days now. I connect it to a power source since it indicates its low on battery. When I do, it turns on, however, it will not charge much and the battery will continue to be red on the top right hand corner of the screen. I have an app which helps indicate around how much battery the iPod has. This app says that the iPod never charges past 15% and if i disconnect it, it shuts down. If the problem is in the battery, and it's a hardware problem, will Apple replace my iPod? Can they still do it? It is over a year old, but after all, i paid for a product that would last longer than a year and a half, didn't I?

You no longer have warranty coverage. Whatever Apple will do you will have to pay for it since it is out of warranty.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • Will Apple replace scratched Mac OS disks?

Okay, the first month I had my MacBook in June, it was perfect, but than after awhile, I noticed that when you closed the MacBook, the screen, was a little slid to the left, so It wasnt aligned right with the keyboard part, and when the BlackBook is open, the top part of the bottom case is coming off and I can slide a fingernail through it. Anyone know what I am saying?
But anyways, I decided, I was going to call AppleCare and get it sent in. But before I had to do that, I wanted to erase the hard drive, since I don't feel comfortable passing personal information through my MacBook, and its not like I had any real important files on it. So I put the Mac OS disk in to erase it, and now the disks are so scratched up that they won't work unless you keep on putting it in and like on the 5th try it will work.
    So 2 questions:
Will Apple repair the case problem?
Will Apple replaced my scratched MacBook disks?
Black MacBook 2.0GHZ I 512 MB RAM I 80 GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Also have an iMac G3 TrayLoader 333 MHZ

Does the issue with the case affect the performance
of the computer? If not, Apple may consider it a
"cosmetic" issue and those are not covered by the
warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan.
If the computer scratched your disks, then yes,
AppleCare should replace them and service your
optical drive. If you scratched them, then they may
charge you around $60 to replace them.
    -Doug
not really doug...although the bezel disallignment is cosmetic, it is clearly a factory defect, not like scratches or something like that...think discoloration

  • Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter the pins are sticking causing late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Will apple replace the L shape MagSafe Adapter? The pins are sticking causing my late 2011 macbook not to receive charge.

Yes, Apple will replace it if you are still under warranty. Otherwise, as in my case, you will have to buy a new one.
I purchased my MacBook Air July of 2011.  Approximately four months later the adapter stopped working. I brought my MacBook and the adapter to the Genius bar. The adapter was replaced because it was under warranty. To make sure the problem was not something I did as I didn’t want to duplicate, I inquired and was told some adapters just have problems.  After two weeks, I noticed the rubber coating to the wire bunched up on the L end that connects to the MacBook Air on the replacement adapter. I returned to the store and was assured that my concern was unwarranted and that since the adapter was working fine I was fine and that if it stopped working I could just return it. On 11/22/12 it was not getting power. I returned to the store. After being asked where I returned the adapter when I originally had the problem (same store) I was informed that the replacement adapter was only covered for three months, to be happy it lasted as long as it did, and I would need to buy a new one for $61. However, the store didn’t have the adapter I needed and could buy the 60W adapter for $79. I was told I could go up, just not down. Before leaving, however, I asked if I was doing something wrong with the adapter and how long the new one was covered for. He inspected the nonworking adapter, pointed at the where the wire connects to the base and said no, usually people have their cords pulled from here but yours looks fine. On the plus side, the rubber coating around the wire of the new adapter appears thicker with no chance of sliding and bunching up. Glad Apple fixed this issue.

  • Will Apple replace my iPhone 5s for free?

I own a space grey 16GB iPhone 5s and have done so since early January. It occasionally force restarts. Today I noticed that at about 3:10PM that it was on only 12% battery, I had accidentally left it on charge for the enitre previous night. It had 90% battery at about 10:55AM. I also noticed that it was really hot in my pocket. I had not be using it since 13:25PM and there was only one app open in multitasking (that app was Youtube and I had paused a video.) I also had a snapback phone cover on my iPhone. I usually get home at about 3:45PM and I usually have about 60% left. I do know that when the 5s was released that some users had similar problems to mine and it turned out that their phones had a manufacturing problem. Apple decided to replace hier phones free of charge. But, that was back in October and I am not sure if that free replacement will apply now. I got my phone through Carphone warhouse and I am on a 4G EE contract. My sister put my phone on her bank insurance as she was allowed so we cancelled the Carphone warehouse insurance. So my final question(s) is will Apple replace my phone? Will I have to pay? Should I go through my sisters bank insurance? Also, I don't really want to replace my phone so would anybody be able to tell me how to fix this problem? My iOS is up to date as well. Thank you for any help that I receive.

The best thing to do is to book a Genius appointment with your nearest Apple Store and take your phone in. This needs to be done online at http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/
They will be able to connect your phone to their diagnostic software and they should replace it if it's within the 12 month warranty period, which it will be if it's a 5S. They will also be aware of any glitches with the phones. Curious as to why you wouldn't want to replace it if it's faulty - not that it's any of my business. If you make sure you back it up first you should be fine.

Apple will only not replace them if they have been damaged through misuse or an accident. If they have been used properly they are warranted to work for one year. If they failed at 11 months and 29 days it does not matter that they've been "well loved and well used", they are supposed to last for one full year. Unless they purchase AppleCare then it is two years.
    Doc M wrote:
By all means, take them in and see what they say. I could be quite mistaken.
    deggie--
    AppleCare states:
Your Plan covers defects for the Applebranded product(s) listed in your Planʼs Certificate or Proof of Coverage document (“Plan Confirmation”) and the accessories that are contained in the product(s) original packaging (“Covered Equipment”),
(ii) Under APP for iPod, Apple will provide technical support for the Covered Equipment, iPod OS
and software applications that are pre-installed with the Covered Equipment (both referred to as
"iPod Software") and connectivity issues between the Covered Equipment and a supported
computer, meaning a computer that meets the Covered Equipmentʼs connectivity specifications and
runs an operating system that is supported by the Covered Equipment. Apple will provide support
for the then-current version of the iPod Software, and the prior supported Major Release.
Also--I never said that they shouldn't take them back--just to not be surprised if they were not replaced. They may well be, and as stated above, +I could be quite mistaken.+
I am also presuming that these are not the stock earbuds that come with iPods, but a set of headphones that may not be stock issue. (They may not even be Apple-brand.) If these are the Apple in-ear headphones with remote that one buys as a standalone purchase, then they should be replaced if under a year. If these are the Dr. Dre sets...who knows? I am working with the information I got from the original poster.
I guess I've worked too much retail, and have seen too many worst-case scenarios. I'd rather see them get replaced (and be incorrect) than to say yes, they'll be replaced no questions asked--and find out later they weren't.
Still--a year warranty should be a year warranty....

Also since Apple stopped making the iphone 4 will they give me a newer version? Thanks

If  your warranty is still valid and there is no evidence of abuse (water damage, dropping, etc.) your phone will be replaced for free with the same model refurbished iPhone 4.
