  • Error while Device Installation creation in Emigall

    Hi Utility Gurus,
When creating full installation through EG31, i am able to create Installation successfully. But while creating Full Device installation through Emigall (object INST_MGMT) I am getting error 'Enter Rate Type'.
I am entering the correct Rate Type and Rate category in structure DI_ZW apart from that other required fields. And in structure DI_GER I am adding the Legacy Device no. Have also added the required fields in DI_INIT structure.
When I enter Rate type in DI_GER structure I get the error "Enter permissible Rate Type'.
Can anybody please let me know how this error can be removed and what are the things to note/configure before Device installation from Emigall.
    Regards

    Hello All,
I know this is a very old thread but just to help anyone else who comes across the same error hope this helps.
In order to complete Full install you need the following structures to be activate/generated
    1) Interface (DI_INIT)
    2) OKCODE    -- this is a hidden auto structure
    3) ZWSTAND -- this is a hidden auto structure
    4) AUTO_ZW (DI_ZW)
    5) AUTO_GER (DI_GER)
    6) CONTAINER  -- this is a hidden auto structure
In order to view the hidden structure follow the below steps:
    - Once you click on the INST_MGMT go to Automatic Structure--> Display List --> All
you will now be able to view all the hidden structures. IN order to activate/generate them you will have to click them go to automatic struture --> Change --> generate
Commonly required fileds in different sturctures are below (please note, these are the commonly used fields and varies based on the project requirments)
    --> Interface
       - ACTION
      - ANLAGE
      - DEVLOC

  • How to include optional NI-Device installation in my installer

I have a Wise installation script. How do I offer customers the option of installing NI-Device? I could make a C++ program and run it, but don't know how it would work. I see a file named SilentInstall.txt on the NI-Device 1.5 disk, but it just looks like an ini file. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for your helpful reply. However, I'm finding that the NI-Device installation program (setup.exe) ignores my silentinstall.txt and just installs everything. Since my installer will copy almost the entire NI-Device CD (with my modified silentinstall.txt) to the user's disk and then command "setup.exe /q silentinstall.txt /r", I'm testing by running from the Start->Run window. But although the installation is silent and doesn't automatically reboot, I find that everything gets installed.
Attached is my silentinstall.txt. Note that I have "absent" for every NI-Spy option, yet NI-Spy gets installed anyway. How can I make setup.exe pay attention to the silentinstall.txt? (Windows NT, NI-Device 1.5).

  • "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

I cannot use HP Solution Center because I only get this message when I start it: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete". I am running Windows XP with an HP PhotoSmart Premium. I can print just fine and the printer is recognized by the PC and the network. I get the same problem whether connected wirelessly or through USB. I have re-installed all software multiple times. Please advise on how to get Solution Center up and running.

I had to do a total uninstall and reinstall of the driver. However, as you will see from this and other Support Forum threads there seem to be multiple stumbling blocks to the uninstall/reinstall process. Seems very glitchy. After nearly two days of unsuccessful tries I finally got it done. I did find three different official HP scenarios for the process, including one automatically sent to my desktop by HP upon one of the earlier failures. That sequence did not work work for me, but it was close--I got a partial install. But on another HP help file titled "Product Software Installation stalls or stops in Windows 7 with a USB connected product HP..." I found a six step process (with details for each), and it worked for me on the second try. Here are the six steps, plus extra things I did or discovered that could have helped make it work. I did step 5b. first: downloading and saving  the HP driver file on my computer before starting other steps, since I elected not be be on the internet as I did the installation. 1. Uninstall the HP printer software. See my note below about four ways HP lists do to this. I used two of them.2. Turn off the 'terminate and stay resident programs (has to do with system configuration). See HP details.3. Clear temporary files and folders through Windows accessories.4. Disable firewalls (see my note below about this)5a. Disconned the cable from BOTH the printer itself and from the computer, BUT TURN ON the printer.5b. Get the lastest version driver for you printer from the HP site and save it where you can find it. (I did this first, before other steps, so I could install off-line)5c. Install the driver software that you saved. (see my note below about an optional step that helped me with this, so the install will complete, and not hang up)6. Enable the start up software that was turned off with step 2. (See HP details) Notes: there are versions of HP instructions that  skip steps 2 and 6 and or 3 and 4, but that would not work in my case. I describe the steps that finally worked in case they can help someone else--this has been so frustrating. This uninstall/install process seems to be very touchy and perhaps changes depending on your printer or other configuration of your computer: Note about step 1: I found an HP document that listed four ways to uninstall. On my final and successful attempt I actually used two of the techniques. First I used the HP uninstaller program from the start menu program list on my computer stored with other HP stuff there. When I rebooted it did not appear that any HP programs were removed, but who knows, perhaps this got rid of some hidden file somewhere that had been causing all of the problems. Then I used the regular uninstall process from the control panel, and that worked. All HP programs were gone upon reboot. Note about step 3: I counld not believe this would help, but did it, and again, who knows, perhaps this is critical. Note about step 4: I assumed that step two 'terminate and stay resident programs' turned off my McAfee firewall and antivirus, so I did not turn it off. And I elected to be off the internet during install because I am always fearful about turning off those programs. However, and this may be the source of problems for many people, the HP list was very specific to turn off the Windows 7 firewall. I checked it and it was running, even though I thought McAfee was in charge. So I did turn off the Windows 7 firewall. Subsequently I learned that many people who have upgraded from earlier Windows operating systems to Windows 7 have the Windows firewall operating along with their other firewall, without knowing it. Apparently this does not happen if you did a clean install of Windows 7 rather than an upgrade install. Note about step 5c: On many of my tries the installation program would not terminate or complete, and I would get a partial install that allow some functions of the printer to work, but not Solutions Center. The only way I found to prevent this was at the step near the end, where you hook up the printer, select the box that says it's okay to connect it later. The installer program dumps an icon on you desktop that allows you to connect the printer after the installation shows complete and terminates by itself. By clicking the icon and plugging the cable into computer and the powered-on-printer when directed, the device installs perfectly. That was the only way I could get a full install, or get the installation to terminate. During the two days of trying to make this work I also reinstalled the latest version of Flash player since I read that HP Solutions Center needs it to show screens on your computer about printer functions. Of course downloading Flash onto a 64-bit version of Windows 7 is a little tricky too, but not that difficult. I do not know whether that was important, but it is one more thing to try if you can't make your Solutions Center part of the printer program work. I learned way more about the unintall/install process than I ever wanted to know. Sorry to be so wordy, but after two days of frustrating work on this I thought I should share this, in case any of these ideas could help someone else who is hung up on this. Perhaps there is an easier fix somewhere. The six-step process was on an HP help site and was not even for my specific printer, but the similar list from my model did not work. Wish I knew what the secret to success might have been.

    Hey Mark
You didn't happen to change the IOMMU setting in the UEFI did you?  I have just got a M5A97 EVO and been having problems.
This UEFI interface finds the usb devices fine but the kernel will not.  I found that if I flash the bios it reset things and appears to
just compare the flash if it is the same.  Afterwards the usb works. However I still trying to narrow it down myself.  I've tested with
0402 0810 & 0813 just released. All do the same thing with regards to usb 2.0.
    Jonathan
    EDIT:
After testing it appears to be connected to the linux nvidia blob & IOMMU settings conflicting.

  • Apple Mobile Device installation - Error writing to file

When trying to install any version of iTunes on Windows7_64, I am receiving an error during the installation of the Apple Mobile Device software.
Error writing to file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.
The error occurs when logging in under any user profile, including the local Administrator account.  Full rights and permissions have been verified for the specifiied directory location.
I have also attempted to manually run the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi standalone file, but the same error continues.  Registry cleaners, Drive scans/repairs, etc. have all been performed without any improvement.
Has anyone found a way around or resolution for this error?
    Thanks!

This suggestion was also tried without success.  Anytime the default folder named "Apple Mobile Device" was used, the error would occur.
I did, however, try something different.  Using the standalone AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi, I instructed the software to install to "Mobile Device Support2" as the installation folder name.  The installation succeeded and I haven't found any problems yet.
    New pathname:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support2\
Will changing the default installation path in the Common Files directory create any possible issues later?
    Many thanks.

  • FM/BAPI to update the rate category for the device/installation

    Hi,
I need to update a new rate category for a device.
Please let me know if there is BAPI/FM which will update the rate category for a device.
    Regards
    Shiva

    Hi Shiva,
First of all, can you clarify if you want to update the rate category - Is it at the Installation Level or at the Device Level.
For updating the rate category at the installation level, go to Business object INSTLN,and then make the necessary changes in Change Installation without dioalog.Pass the input parameters as required for the Method.
If you find this answer helpful, please reward points.

  • Need Help on IDE devices installation

    Hi all....
Consider this... I am an idiot in PC self assemble...(or at least I am newbie... )
I done a DIY 2 times before... but are and kindengarden level.
I just bought a second hand 875P Neo-FIS2R(with RAID) and don't really know how to start with the IDE devices, others parts are OK for me.
    Here what I have
    TDK DVD+/- RW writer
    TDK CDRW Combo
40GB ATA HDD for OS and application installation
80GB ATA HDD for DATA storage
    120GB SATA HDD for Games
I know the simple way of doing it..... install the 2 optical drive in IDE-2 connector, 2 ATA HDD in IDE-1 Connector and SATA into SATA without RAID
But I been told that to optimise both the Optical rewritable... better to put them alone in each of the IDE connector. thats mean 2 IDE used up. And I been told that first IDE HDD should be in First IDE Master. Soo... if this the case, how should I proccee with the installation???
    1. Can 1 of my optical rewritable device install in the IDE3?????  and the other on IDE2
2 or should i buy 1 extra 40GB same brand and model IDE HDD and install with the 1 that I have currently at IDE3 and run on RAID 0 for better performance???? and the ATA 80GB HDD just get a SATA convertor and put it in the SATA connector????
    3. or shloud I have my ATA 80GB HDD throw away and get 1 more SATA 120GB in promise raid run as RAID 0, 2 ATA 40GB in IDE3 run as RAID 0?????
Any possible advise will be welcome... Please help me out... Thanks

    Thanks for the reply
The reason I'm using a second CDRW-Combo is due to the DVD writer that i have is an older version.... which is damn slow when writing to CD-RW media.... CD-R writing speed still acceptable. But I use RW more often.
OK.... I have another question to ask
What if I have two 40GB HDD but in differ brand.... actually... the size are differ as well. 1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40GB Ultra-ATA (model: ST340014A) and 1 IBM Deskstar 41GB ATA-100 (model: IC35L040AVER07). these 2 HDD have a jumper option of forcing it to limit as 32GB. If I use both of this HDD in 32GB mode. can I still enjoy the RAID0 performance like other? or it will downgrade my seagate HDD to the performance like the IBM Deskstar HDD???
1 more question. How many channel(volume) can Promise PDC20378 handle?? 1 or more?? can I have my IDE3 in channel(Volume) 1, and SATA in another???
I tried to fing the info of PDC20378 in the net, even promise website but can't find anything.
And again.... thanks for the help.

  • Help! Lenovo x61 Tablet Prompted Message on device installation

Hello! I own a x61 Tablet laptop and I just upgraded my hard drive from 120GB to 300GB. I installed Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit and everything installed fine. But now I get this message box everytime I start my pc or restart:
    Device Software Installation
Windows will now finish installing software from the manufacturer of this device:
    ThinkPad Tablet Keyboard and Buttons
    Then I have a choice:
    Finish installing software(recommended)
    Ask me again later
I choose Finish installing and I still get the prompt everytime I start my computer.
Does anyone have this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Nevermind this it has been solved. All I had to do was install all the software(even the unwanted ones) for the Tablet Keyboard and Buttons and it stopped prompting. Sorry guys.
Message Edited by junya8971 on 05-07-2009 07:24 PM

In Control Panel select Tablet PC Settings.  Select the Other tab and the last option on the page is Tablet PC Input Panel Options.  There you should see a link to Go to Input Panel Settings.  I think the selections you want appear on the Opening tab.
I could not find a more direct path to it, but perhaps someone else might simplify it.

  • Any USB Device Installs Cannot Find Drivers - x40 SP3

I am running Windows XP SP3 on an X40 2371-HU3. I am unable to install new USB devices such as an RF mouse + keyboard and a multifunction printer. Importantly, I *am* able to connect new removable storage devices with no trouble.
The error occurs when I reach the stage of the install process where Windows prompts me to direct it to the driver. I manually direct the driver installation wizard to whatever location the driver files are located in... the wizard looks in the location, and promptly reports that there is no appropriate driver to be found.
This happens with the following USB devices:
    Brother MFC-8660DN
    Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110
    Belkin portable USB hub
    HP OfficeJet 4255
This problem has been going on for months without me fully realizing it, so I cannot point at the installation or uninstallation of any particular piece of hardware of software that created this problem.
This one has me stumped, folks. Thanks in advance for your help.

OK I have an idea what might be going on here. Let's try this:
    1. Unplug the Brother MFC-8660DN USB cable.
    2. Download and install the Windows XP driver package for the MFC-8660DN from the Brother web site.
    3. Plug the USB cable back in.
Windows XP includes drivers for nearly all USB storage devices, so they usually work without any additional drivers.
Windows XP cannot find drivers for the printers you list because it has none. Before plugging into USB, you have to install them from the manufacturer's web site downloads or from the CDs which came with them.
I confess I am a bit puzzled as to why XP doesn't find drivers for the USB hub - is it a fancy model? I would also have expected Windows XP to have some basic drivers for the mouse and keyboard, but usually there are manufacturer drivers which give access to more advanced features.
Hope this helps get you a step in the right direction!
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • HP 3055 networked multi-function device: installation issue

Our home office network has an HP 3055 multi-function printer/fax/copier/scanner. I've been unable to scan from my MacBook since installing snow leopard. Attempts to reinstall the drivers from the original HP Mac disk have failed. Now whenever I boot my Mac, the HP "all-in-one" software tries to install itself. When I click "Finish" the installation crashes. I have a copy of the crash dump, but won't post it unless someone wants to see it.
Oddly, I can print just fine. My impression from the HP website is that they have given up on the Mac. Perhaps someone at Apple could persuade them to reconsider.
FYI I can scan just fine from Windows XP and Vista computers that are connected to the same subnet. Thanks for any advice.

No, HP hasn't given up on the Mac platform at all. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US has a list of all HP printers supported in Snow Leopard, and the ones with an '*' indicate that there have been updates for the drivers for these models. They're still developing, but I think they are trying to phase out some of the older models.
