Blank Project

Hello Everyone,
I have been posting on here for a few weeks and have gotten some REALLY good help. I think I am down to my LAST issue (knocks on wood).
Projects A, B and C
Project A, works fine
Project B, works fine
Project C, publishes, then shows a blank pageVIEW SOURCE shows me that a page is loading however has nothing in between <BODY> tags
After attempting a publish with Project C, from that point on until it is forcefully deleted from the server, A and B will not registry and new publishes, we can publish but the TOC wont update. If I restart the server at this point it fails to complete the refresh and stays attempting to refresh forever.
If I publish from RoboHelp HTML version 9 to Server Version 8 ... it works, if I then post to Server 9 ... it fails.

Can you try setting up a new RH Server area and publishing all three projects to that. If that works, try deleting the output from the original area, then delete and recreate the area and republish.

How can I deploy this jsf-blank project on WebSphere 7? I tried a quick-and-dirty, but it seems to fail on mapping.

How can I deploy this jsf-blank project on WebSphere 7?There just isn't an easy way out. The project should deploy with no problems of Websphere is truly compliant - if something fails then you have no choice but to try and figure out what exactly it is that Websphere doesn't like about the deployed application. It might be a configuration issue, it might be a JVM issue, it might be a rights issue, who knows.
If you want further help then you might want to try and post the errors you are getting.

Convert a blank project to responsive project

Hi, I have created a tutorial in captivate 8. I created it in 'blank project' as I was a new user. I am wondering if there is any way I can change it to a responsive project. Please Help ASAP! Thank you in anticipation.

Hi Simi,
You can follow below steps to make your content as responsive.
1) Create a new responsive project.
2) Copy all the slides from your existing blank project and paste them in the responsive project.
3) You can change the object size, position and other things in tablet and mobile view as per your need.
4) Publish and access it from different devices.

Blank Projects vs. Responsive Projects

I normally develop using the Captivate Blank Project as my customers are not normally concerned about responsiveness yet. However, I may be soon working for a new customer that may. So, I wanted to know a few things. 1. Can I make a Blank Project Responsive?
2. If so, what is the best way of going about this?
3. If so, would I have to make sure that all graphics were vector graphics?
3. If not and only the Responsive Project format publishes responsive projects, again must all graphics used be vector graphics for the project to be responsive?

Thank you for your quick reply. Another question - With a blank project you are able to set the most desired size, but on my initial look at the Responsive Project, it does not appear to allow a user to select a size. Just takes one into 1024 x 627. Am I missing something with the sizing? Is there another place to set a size other than the 1024 X 627, if desired, or are all of the different screens (Primary, Mobile, and phone set at what's considered a standard, but the responsiveness aspect will allow it to do any larger, smaller, or non-standard size (say 1000 x 700)?

Cannot create blank projects at 1280x720 or above on 10.8.4 Mac OSX.

Every time I create a blank project at these specifications, Captivate stops responding and gives me a perpetual loading symbol. I can't begin to think how to fix this, but it is fairly important that I get this to work somehow.
I'm working on a Mac Pro w/ 6GB of memory, and a 3.33 GHz y-Core Intel Xeon Processor.
I went to support about a month ago for this issue and was told it was a known issue on Mac Pros, but since then I never got any follow up or updates that corrected the issue, so I just sit here hoping this software I paid for will eventually work.

7.0.0.118 is the version I have.
I'm currently running on the admin account for this computer. I remember this was the focus of many a support call, as I was instructed to log out and log in about eight different times just for the issue to persist.
In response to my original support call it was stated "we requested you to enable the root user and then try to create the desired project", though I've had the root user enabled and am currently operating with it enabled and it has made no difference.

I can't access any of my files or even a new blank project

I'm working with RH 8. I have also installed the critical updates.
I cannot access any of my RH projects. At first I could access the project I'm currently working on. I could not access any of my other projects.
So, I reinstalled the critical updates. However, when I reinstalled I only got the window above. I clicked next.
After i reinstalled I can't access any of my projects, including the one I could access before. I cannot access RH and just create a new project either. Can someone help.

I also got the message that my current file was more current than the version of RH. It seems that the update didnt' take.

Question here. What is your operating system? Windows Vista or 7 maybe?
I ask because you said your projects were on your C drive. Normally that's excellent and where you want projects to be. But I've found that if I am using Vista and I try to save something to the root ( C:\ ) from some applications, I'm blocked and see issues with the application. So my thought is that if you are attempting to work directly from the root and you are on Vista, that may explain things.
Normally I suggest folks create a folder named Projects right off the root of C:\ and create a folder inside the Projects folder to house any project.

I am using windows 7. The error happens whenever I record L I did have a very full hard disk when the issue started – but this has now been resolved and as I said I did reinstall Captivate.
I am not using a different user account.

Imovie project opens up blank

Hi,
I recently had to take my mac to the apple store to get it re-booted and restored due to a hitch with start-up. Therefore I had to back up all my data onto an external hard drive before they did the system restore. Now that the problem has been resolved i have re-loaded all my files from the external hard drive back onto my computer. All my imovie project files are there - in the same format and location as before. I just copied the whole "movies" folder back onto my computer. However when i open up my imovie projects, they all come up blank. The project files are all there in the folder, showing with their thumbnails too, and are all different sizes which tells me that there is something there. The video I was working on before I had to do the system restore is still showing as 98mb in size so I cant understand why it opens up as a blank project when i double click it. The imovie events folder is also still in the same location it was before I backed up, so surely the path cant have changed...
Any help will be very much apreciated. Getting so frustrated as I needed to get this video completed asap.

Since this came off another Mac, and it appears you were not using Time Machine, I would suspect a Permissions issue.
First, make sure that your Project is in the Movies/iMovie Projects/ folder.
Next make sure your Event folders are in the Movies/iMovie Events/
Shut down iMovie.
Then, open Disk Utility and go to the First Aid tab. Click on Repair Permissions and let it run. When it finished, run Repair Permissions one more time. Then restart iMovie.

326 = 0; or, why my viewing pane is blank for only one project

Hi-I'm looking at a project that has 326 images in it, but the viewing/browsing pane is blank. I get can't get it to show any of those photos when i highlight the project. Other projects display photos, and the photos in this "blank" project do display in the viewing pane when I click "All Projects" or "All Photos." Mysterious!

PP crashed and now project file is blank despite autosave being active.

I recently downloaded Premier Pro CC and love it so have got round to editing some footage I took over the summer.
I am a few hours into editing a project when PP crashed, I dragged the 'warp stabilizer' effect onto a short clip (4 seconds) and the windows loading cursor popped up, then it said 'not responding' on the window title bar. It stayed like that for about an hour so I closed PP by clicking the 'X' and then clicking 'close program' when the dialogue box popped up.
Now when I go to open my project file up it just opens a completely blank project. Autosave was active and it popped up many times while editing this project, most recently about 10 minutes before PP crashed.
Any idea why the autosave doesn't seem to have worked? Do I have to do anything special to access a separate autosave file or something?

Sorry for being a complete dunce, I have just done a quick google and found out how to access the autosave files and I have now got the project back minus the last 10 minutes of work.

Open project was cancelled or the application was unable to load database error

I am currently on RoboHelp, version 8.0.2.208 and last week my laptop (XP OS) crashed. My IT department ran a repair disk program and since that time I receive the error message in the subject line when I attempt to open any XPJ file. We use RoboSource Control 3.1. I can access/see all of our projects when I go through RoboSource Control 3.1 Explorer. I have already uninstalled/reinstalled the Adobe Tech Communication Suite twice. I think my next move is to have our IT staff wipe my disk clean if I can't solve this problem in the next day or so. Appreciate any advice/feedback anyone has. Kind regards.

This morning a coworker got the same error message. He had been working on his RH8 project yesterday with no problems. He was unaware of any changes to his PC, but our IT dept may have pushed some kind of update. To reproduce the error on my PC, I made a copy of an RH8 project and renamed the .cpd file. When I tried to open the .xpj, I received the same error. When I restored the .cpd file name, I continued getting the error--not only on that project, but also on ALL OTHER PROJECTS! (Unfortunately, I didn't try to open the project before renaming the file--and hadn't used RH at all today--so there may have been a problem for me even before I started to break things, and that might indicate an overnight PC update.)
I tried several solutions (including deleting the .cpd and .xpj files, then trying to open the .hhp in RH8, as suggested on other sites). No luck. Then I attempted to create a new project (File>New>Project>Blank Project), but RH8 created only a handful of files in the new project folder, then stopped, without creating an .xpj and most other critical files.
Since I also have RH5 installed on my PC, I created a new project in RH5, then converted it by opening the RH5 .xpj file in RH8. After RH8 converted the new project to the RH8 format, I was able to open the "corrupt" project in RH8, as well as all the other projects!
The manifestation of the problem in all of my projects seems to indicate that there was a corruption in the RH8 application, not in the .cpd file. The app just needed to be "unstuck," then everything was OK. Nothing in the project had been lost at all.
Since my coworker does not have RH5 installed, he was able to fix his situation by simply creating a new project in RH8.

Error while opening a new project

Hello,
Our team has been working on RoboHelp 7 for some time now. I recently joined the team and they had asked me to work on RoboHelp 8 and give them a presentation on the same. I downloaded a trail version of RoboHelp 8 and installed it.
Problem:
When I open RoboHelp 8 and select Application Help or Blank Project, I start getting errors (I have tried all other options too with no luck).
Process:
Open RoboHelp 8
Select "Application Help" under "Create New"
On Clicking "Finish"
The following errors occur
And so on... It continues with a lot of other errors.
Any suggestion on how to open a new project with out these errors will be very much appreciated.

You wouldn't necessarily be aware of the problems when installing. Have you specifically checked with your IT that they do not store your profile on the network. That bit is important.
Then try http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/installing/installing.htm and see the Problem Installations section. One link helps with installs that have failed and the other removes installations more deeply than the programs own uninstall routine. You may need to install again for RevoUninstaller to work.
I suggest you work with IT using either of the links.

A totally different project is played when project is played in full screen view and project is not editable

I have problems with my imovie 09. After several days of work with an imovie project I was again about to start editing my project after startup of my mac. I played through the project and everything seemed fine, but when a movie clip was moved infront of a still picture instead of after, the whole project became uneditable and unplayable. When trying to play the project in full screen mode a totally different project is played. Shutting Imovie and/or the mac down does not help. In some cases I have managed to get the red cursor moving along in my project. However, no movie is played in the screen in the right hand corner, -it is totally black, and the audio is again from a totally different project. I am not able to export the project as all the export options are grey. Some of the other projects worked fine and some did not, -and the functionality seemed a bit random from time to time after rebooting/ exiting and reentering imovie. My first guess would be that this is a memory porblem. However, looking at my activity monitor it seems that I'm only using 1.73 GB of system memory of a total of 4....I have tried remove old projects and also quite a bit of clips in my library to minimize memory use. Now it seems that all the rest of the projects are working fine, but my current project is still corrupt. I have tried copying the first clip of my project into a blank project, but it will only play in full screen mode, not in the screen in the right hand corner.
I am working on a mac mini with 2.26 Ghz intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
I would be very grateful if anyone out there could help me out...Is my project totally corrupt beyond the point of no repair? Why has this happened, and how is it possible that something like this can happen without any kind of warning?

Thanks for your reply AppleMan1958. Unforunately the playback problem was only experienced in the project described, - all other projects played fine....and I tried a lot of different ways to do it...so I really believe the whole project, including the playback (which did not work in the editing window in the right hand corner either, -nothing was shown there and the red marker line would not move across the project) just suddenly become totally corrupt...However, after deleting the project as described above and installing imovie11 I have done the whole thing over again and completed the project without problems this time.

Text caption visible on slide but not when running project

I am using Captivate v4.
I have one slide of 64 where the text cpation is seen on the slide and runs correctly when using F3 - but when I run the project / F10 the text caption does not appear.
I have copied the slide with this error onto a blank project as i assumed the project might be corrupt - but the same happens on the blank project.
Help please...anyone ?

Not sure what was the cause of the problem - but have fixed it now.
After trying many things, including copying the project onto a new blank Captivate project - none of which worked, I did the following and the problem was fixed.
Working on the original project and the slide with the error - I removed the text caption that was not working (for the nth time) and thought I would try one more time to put the text caption back using a different font.....
When I opened the text caption option I noticed there are "two" options for the transparent text caption one above the line and one below, see below;
I selected the transparent option below the line...and it worked OK.
Have to assume that the ones above the line are the most recently used, and I must have been using this one without noticing which one I was selecting - and there was something wrong with the one above the line.
Staring to think I need to upgrade to v5.5 - but not convinced it is the right thing to do.

New Project From MS Powerpoint

Hi,
I've just installed and licensed Captivate 7. I am having problems using the New Project from MSPowerpoint or the Insert / Powerpoint Slide option for a Blank Project. I have tried this with both .ppt and .pptx files which I can open and save in Powerpoint 2007.
When I try to create a New Project from MSPowerpoint Captivate tells me it is parsing the file, then it converts the slides (only 2 slides in the presentation), and then it freezes, and does nothing and I have to close the application down from Task Manager. Creating a new project and then using the Insert / Powerpoint Slide option also freezes. I have tried this with more than one Powerpoint presentation. I have also tried this with 'Run the program as an Administrator' set.
I have also installed the 7.01 update, and uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate to check my installation.
Has anyone got any ideas as to how to get Captivate to import slides from Powerpoint?

Refreshing/deleting the Preferences folder is not mentioned, but that recommendation can be found in a lot of threads in this forum. Clearing cache regularly is another good practice, not with the files you are actively working on (they provide means to recover a file, besides backup that is by default not checked in Preferences).
When importing PPT did you check High Fidelity option?
