Blu-Ray 5.1 DD SS Audio Glitch after import into Encore.

Working on burning a full length blu-ray with two audio track options (stereo audio, 5.1 DD SS)  I'm not having any problems connecting menu's or burning.  After the initial burn everything was working flawlessly except when I played the video with the 5.1 DD track I noticed the audio would glitch at certain parts.  The glitch sounds like a CD skipping (i.e the speaker would say Bubble and it would sound like Bu-Bu-Bubble) the audio doesn't go out of sync when this happens, it's small and the video keeps playing but it's still noticeable and an issue.
Both audio tracks are one complete track, no cuts or seperate clips.  The 5.1 track is .ac3.  The stereo track is mixed from the 5.1 track and doesn't have the glitch at all.  I've gone back and checked the source audio and haven't noticed any transients or spikes at the places where it glitches.  The problem occurs when I pull it into encore.  Even before burning the audio will error inside the timeline preview.  I'm not transcoding the audio or video at all as I have manually compressed the video already.  Everything is perfect except for this glitch and I'm all out of ideas of what Encore is doing to the audio to create the skipping glitch any thoughts or ideas would be great.  Hope i've given enough information.  I'm new to the forum so please let me know if i've left anything out or missed any etiquette.

What is the brand of the blank media?
Good luck,
Hunt
Most likely he used Apple's Compressor, Bill - the system specs state FCP7 is being used.
Bitrate is a valid question though.....this should be no higher than 640kbps (and IMHO certainly no lower - DD sucks at the best of times)
Sorry for the long reply back guys.  We had the audio work for this project outsourced so I had to await details to your questions.  The bitrate is 457.67 kbps so the bit rate shouldn't be causing the issue.  The audio was completely pre mixed in Pro Tools and they just sent us a ready to use .ac3 file.  Hope this helps!
CAleb
Hey Caleb.
Thanks for the details -and that is probably your problem.
457.67kbps is nothing like DVD-Video compliant, and almost certainly not BluRay compliant either.
For BluRay, you should be using 448 or preferably 640kbps.
DVD uses either 448 or 384kbps Dolby Digital, and the figure you are giving is extremely odd, looking almost like a VBR encoding which DD should never, ever be. Using 384 gives you unidirectional content above 10kHz (IE, mono) and 448 gets it all the way up to around 14 or 15kHz before it goes unidirectional. In all frankness, there is no good reason at all to use Dolby Digital as it sucks - badly - and all BluRay players are required to decode at the very least DTS Core Audio (1536kbps) which is fully discrete all the way to 20kHz.
I think whoever you outsourced this to got the DD encoding wrong - simples!

You could connect a FireWire Blu-Ray drive and use non-Apple player software.

  • Blu-ray burning converts 5.1 audio to 2.0.  Why?

When burning a Blu-Ray disk with 5.1 audio, the audio is converted to 2.0.
Attempting to create self-contained quicktime files and bringing them directly into compressor still fails to keep the 5.1 audio.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

If this project is starting in FCP you need to make sure that your channel assignments are correct there first. Meaning, by default, FCP is setup as stereo 2.0 and will mixdown the audio tracks. You need to change your sequence audio settings to 6 channels and then manually assign your tracks in the timeline. Then, when you send to Compressor (or export a QT) you'll have discrete tracks instead of a mixed-down stereo pair.

  • JVC Everio Audio Quality After Import

I filmed quite a bit of video using my companies JVC Everio in full HD 1920x1080. The camera natively shoots in .tod format. I flipped it to .avi using AVS Video Converter. Both files play fine in VLC player, and they look just fine. After importing into premiere, the videos will barely play, and are super laggy. They video doesn't match up to the audio in the source window at all. I'll set in and out points, and only the video will go to the sequence in the timeline. Once I drag the audio and match it up to the video i just dragged, the audio doesn't match. I have to manually fix it. Even still, the audio sounds HORRIBLE. Again, it sounds just fine in VLC player, it's only after I import it that it made a womans voice sound slightly deeper, and just terrible quality. Am I doing something wrong in the import? Are there some sequence settings I need to change? I can fix most of the video problems, I can even deal with manually adjusting the placement of the audio and video after each insert of video from the source moniter, but I simply cannot deal with the loss of quality from the audio. Please help, I'd love to provide any additonal information about the system or project settings.

  • AVCHD to Blu-ray yields out-of-sync audio when not using TS

I have a need (won't go into too many details) to render my AVCHD project as separate M4V and WAV files; I can't have the output be multiplexed as a TS. However, the audio is horribly out-of-sync unless I output as a TS. For example, if I load up a timeline with ~40min of clips from my Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder and render as Blu-ray H.264 1920x1080i, non-multiplexed, with PCM audio, the resultant WAV file is a full four seconds shorter than the M4V file! Ouch!! I'm guessing each AVCHD clip has just slightly less audio than video, and that it just adds up in the end, but why can't Premiere accomodate this? Is there a way to have it introduce delay at each cut? Obviously, the packetizing/multiplexing process for a TS accounts for this, but again, I can't use a TS; I need a WAV file that's in step with the video.
I also tried rendering a TS (which plays fine and doesn't have sync issues) and then demuxing with xport.exe, but this leads to the same problem.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Cheers,
    Aaron

    > Could this be a DF versus NDF issue?
Hmmm... every setting and Properties window shows 29.97... anything else I should look for?
    > use a Time Stretching effect
I'll keep that in my back pocket for now. Doesn't seem like I should have to go to that length, however, but... Assuming the error in the source is relatively constant per AVCHD clip (maybe not a valid assumption, but seems reasonable), then the stretch effect would result in audio that was more or less out-of-sync depending on the density of cuts on the timeline.
Is it possible to create an audio-only TS using Premiere? Something that preserves the timing information? Seems not, but maybe there is. When I uncheck "Export Video", the option to create a TS seems to disappear :-(

  • No Blue Ray in CS4 Media Encoder or burn to disc in Encore

    Hello everyone.
    I'm using CS4 on Vista 64 Dual AMD @ 3.0 with 8 gigs memory and 4x WD 750 gig HD's on Raid 1
    ATI 4890
I had burned previously several Mpeg2 BluRay discs with menus and now have lost that capability it seems.
I have had some problems in the past and have reloaded Vista 64 as well as this time.
The media enocder just stops nearly imediately after the que with an exclaimation point
on the file attempting either a BluRay 264 or Mpeg2 BluRay conversion from mt2s raw from the camera
    file, from the hard drive.
As well, after an edit of mt2s files on the editor and exporting to Encore, setting it all up with a
menu etc. It will rendor a project until its time to write or burn and then I get an error about access
and a code 12 error. I'm using an LG GGW-H20L BlueRay recorder/player. Which has a problem
doing dual layer writing with it's latest firmware installed.
I would like to be able to edit, menu and burn my mt2s files to BluRay however after reading here
and other places recently, it sounds like I need Scenerist or something now to be able to achieve
    this goal.
Has something change most recently to take away what I have been doing or what I still can do?
I only make one or two Blue Rays of the same. I'm not into replicating mass quanities of the same.
I would like to have the better picture the AVCHD camera outputs as mt2s files burned onto a Blue Ray
disc. It looks better anyway to me than the Mpeg2 BlueRay files.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Gratefully appreicated. Bob.
Regular DVD's look great and work just fine but once in a while, someone wants a BlueRay. Impression is all I can
    say about that.

    I don't do BluRay... but...
When I want to create a single layer DVD I simply click the Encore icon and work (actually, I go to ISO and use Imgburn to write, for greater control)
When I want to create a dual layer DVD I have found that I MUST right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator
This is in spite of the fact that I am the only user of my computer and only have one, Administrator account
This problem appears to be "something" about Win7's rights management (this problem, from my reading, started with Vista)

  • Blu-ray says capacity too big when burning DVD Rom Folder Encore CS4

I have tried 3 times now to burn a Blu-ray Image file with a DVD rom Content Folder. The Blu-ray Image size is 45.90gb and the content folder is 1.6gb. The disk is a Sony DL 50gb Blu-ray. I have not tried to burn direct to disk because cost of Blu-rays. I am using Encore CS4. Is it that you cannot make an image file with DVD-rom for DL Blu-rays. Is there a number preset by Adobe for image file size for DL Blu-ray. Please help

45.90 GB on your hard drive and 1.6 GB on your hard drive add up to 47.60 GB.
In computer GB, (47.60 x 2^30) that's over 51 billion bytes. Sony and other blank media manufacturers report the capacity of their blank discs in normal GB (50 x 10^9), or 50 billion bytes.
Your project is too big to fit on the blank media that you have.

  • Audio glitches after BIOS update on GD65 Gaming

I updated from the beta 1.94 BIOS to 1.A0 and since then have experienced audio glitches. Streaming videos the audio will fast stutter periodically. My DJ controller also glitches which is a different soundcard entirely. Using DPC Latency tool I see large random spikes every so often which coincides with the audio glitches. I tried LatencyMon and it shows HDAudBus.sys as causing high interrupt to process latency. But if I disable that it then gives the same fo ACPI.sys. If I kill some services and background tasks it would sometimes show the same but for hal.dll or wfd0100.sys (part of Logitech Setpoint I think). I can never seem to nail it down. So I booted into diagnostic startup using msconfig and the spikes more or less went away. So I ended up booting with just the essential network and audio drivers running using msconfig and it seemed to fix it but I cannot be doing that each time I want to use my DJ controller or play a Youtube video.
It did not do this before the BIOS firmware upgrade.
    Ideas?
    Win7 Ultimate 64 btw.
EDIT: I flashed using LiveUpdate and forgot to do a BIOS reset with power cord disconnected (going to try the latter now now but doubtful it will help). Should I re-flash from USB?

Quote from: Sea Dog on 03-July-14, 01:25:23
There are a good number of GD65 Gaming mainboards, so it would be helpful to know exactly which chipset you have. M-Flash has been reliable with Z87 and Z97, but if that method is used, be sure to select the BIOS + ME option. Install the newest ME driver after a flash.
    It's the Z87 Haswell version.
BTW there is a dual BIOS on this board right? Can't I switch to the other BIOS, bootup and test? Never tried the dual BIOS thingi before and wondered about if it's possible to switch between them? EDIT: Just read the manual. Not what I thought it did. Oh well.
EDIT2: I flashed the latest beta 1.10 B3 BIOS using the USB boot method, reset the CMOS by crossing the pins and uninstalled/installed the latest ME driver.
    No difference.
If U run LatencyMon 'as is' after reboot and after stuff has settled down it reports random spikes of the HDAudBus.sys well over 1000ms
If I disable HDAudBus.sys in system devices it then spikes with ACPI.sys
If I use a tool like JetBoost to kill some apps and services spikes with usbport.sys or ACPI.sys or HAL.dll or sometimes wfd0100.sys
If I use msconfig to boot into diagnostic mode I don't get any spikes.
If I use msconfig to boot into a mode where only the services required for network and audio to work I also get no spikes (but this is tiresome to use. I wish msconfig had user profiles. I also tried a tool called Startup Selector which promised that functionality but it crashes when I apply the changes).
I can only surmise a MS service (tried just disabling non-MS services with no effect) or combination of MS services is causing this issue.
I'm thinking the next step is an in place upgrade of Win7 and if that does not fix it a complete reinstall (that would really suck). :(

  • Audio glitch when importing files

I have only recently started using elements 10 and already I have encountered a problem I can't understand. Using my friends handheld camera i made a series of videos that import fine. A canon, but i don't know the model. I have then used another canon, a pc1589 from the uk to record the rest of my video for my movie. However when i import ANY videos from this camera, the audio sounds like it is jumping forward, and skipping bits and is finished by half way through my imported scene. I thought it maybe had something to do with one of the cameras being from the uk and one from the us, so i tried importing the files in a new project with the settings adjusted for the uk camera it still didnt work. I can play the files fine though media player etc but I cannot get the audio working properly in elements and don't have the first idea on how to fix this problem. Please help!

  • Why do I get audio glitches after pausing songs?

I have an iPhone 4 running on the latest version of iOS and I have been getting an irritating popping noise on some songs if they are paused after the songs starts, i.e. the first 5 to 10 seconds, then resumed without me skipping to another song.
This is a problem I am concerned about as when his happens my iPhone seems to remember the exact point where i paused the particular track and insert this popping sound so that everytime I play the track when listening to a previous track in a album or playlist I hear the sound.
The only way I can eliminate the problem temporarily is to tap back to restart the track sometimes a few attempts are required to get the song to play cleanly again.
Has anyone else had this problem with this version of the iPhone or any model or since the recent updates?
I am worried that I am going to ruin my music collection, what happens when I sync to my iTunes?
My only option at the minute is to try hard to remember not to pause songs at the start and then play them from where i paused it.
Also should I try to reformat my iPhone and then resync my music to see if this removes the glitches from the songs?
So far it's only affected a few songs but I'm worried it could become a serious problem in the future considering I care about the quality of my songs and one song in particular was bought from iTunes!
Can anyone suggest any other advice to preserve my collection from this rather annoying glitch in my playback?

Have you tried restarting or resetting the iPad?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Does this happen all the time and no matter where you are using the iPad?

  • Audio glitch after OS X (10.5.3), Quicktime (7.5), & Airport Utlty update?

I just installed these updates and restarted.
I went to Front Row to watch a movie and there was no sound. I checked the music files and they were fine as well as the sound for TV Shows. I then got out of Front Row and went to watch the same movie through Quicktime (the movie is in my Movie folder). Again, there was no sound.
I checked out a bunch of movies in the same folder and still no sound. I am able to play the movies with sound through the DivX player though.
    Any ideas?
    TIA, Jo

one of the things this update was supposed to fix was audio problems related to the last airport update and os update. looks like they didnt fix anything but broke more...
if it was me, my first step would be to tun airport of then try to watch the movie. also make sure your audio in system preferences is set to built in.
    good luck!

  • .AVI glitches after import

First I should mention that everything I say in this post is something I did with only the most vague understanding of what I'm doing.
I imported an .AVI, which plays fine everywhere else, and in the playback in Premiere and after exporting the video glitches out to where the frames will get mixed up with some lasting a full second overlayed over other frames. I'm sure there's a word for that. The audio is flawless, though.
So I did some Googling around and found that it might be due to a missing codec, and after downloading G Spot and analyzing the file it said that I was missing the Microsoft Video 1 codec required for it. After more Googling and installing every codec pack that wasn't filled with malware, I came across the ffdshow decoder, which I then ran and used to enable the aforementioned codec in both the video decoder and the VFW configuration. I thought that would surely take care of it and booted up Premiere again, where after another import the video was still glitching.
Here's what G Spot and ffdshow say right now-
And again, I know what these things mean on the most superficial level so if I have to do anything fancier than check a box I could probably use the talking-to-an-old-person version.
And if this question has already been answered somewhere I haven't come across it after an hour and probably a hundred tabs of searching.

  • Audio from dvd imported into iMovie

I don't know alot about any of this but here goes....my daughter went skydiviing and had it video taped with sound of course. The videographer added music to the DVD of the skydive. I got it into iMovie (I want to edit and get some still shots from it) but the sound is very low. I've got the clip control up to 150%, and my computer volume control on the key board is all the way up. First question: what else can I do to help volume? Second question: Is there a way to seperate the original sound of the video from the music that was added to the DVD? The music overpowers the converstion.
I have iMovie HD (6.0.3), Streamclip, and QuickTime MPEG2 if these would be helpful. Thank You

+On the volume issue, if you can extract the audio from the clip, and then make several copies of the audio clip, overlaying them one on top of the other in your iMovie project, that might boost the volume.+
Yes, but that would not separate out the music from the sound she wants to hear over the music.
