Bookmarks in report

Bookmark in oracle reports.
Hi , I have a bunch of reports, which the user is generating to
PDF files. I have put the code
srw.set_bookmark(:Category); in the format trigger of the
category field. Now when the user opens the PDF file the file
displays the bookmark initially. Is there any way to supress
it ? I mean , when the user opens the PDF file, it should open
the pdf file without showing the bookmark on the left side. But
when the user wish to see the bookmark then he can click on the
bookmark tool button and the bookmark should be displayed.

Bookmarking a report that brings up the prompt

When I run a report with a variable prompt, I am first presented with the prompt. After I enter a variable it takes me to the report. When I bookmark this report, and run it with the bookmark it automatically takes me to the report rather than to the prompt. is there a way for me to bookmark it so I see the prompt when I open it with the bookmark link?

I am assuming you are using the Booknark feature from the context menu after the report is run and that Bookmark refers to the output results for the input value of the variable.
You can set up a Favorites entry in your browser that call the report and then it will prompt for the variable value. From the Web Application designer, open your web template and select Publish->Copy URL to clipboard. Use the URL in your clipboard to create a Favorites entry and this should give you the desired result.
It should look like
http://bwserver:port/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=your_template

Facing an issue while Bookmarking a report in the query

Hi,
I opened a report in the portal and executed it.
I try to bookmark a page with all my desired factors i want in my query .
and when i bookmark, it diverts me back to an older query that i've created
and all of the links to my previous bookmarks are bringing me back to the same ONE QUERY
i've tried sending my bookmarks to different collegues and when they open it - it leads them to different ones
however when i open them, it leads me back to one same query
the url addresses are different for all these bookmarked queries also
however, they are all diverting me back to the same one.
Please provide me some solution to this issue

You may have enabled a Payables option that does not permit making adjustment for paid invoices.
Try disabling this profile option in AP.

BW authorization required to Bookmark BW Report iView

Hi All,
I have BW report displayed in portal iView. Everything is fine, the system for BW is ajusted, the user mapping is correct (UIDPW method is used)- I can see what I expect. The 0ANALYZER template is used. But when I press "Bookmark" button on "Data Analysis" tab the standard browser authorization window appears which asks me about user name and password to connect to my BW server. How could I rid of this authorization request?

I'm trying to open report directly in IE. The URL is:

Of course explorer asks about my uesrname and password to login to mybw.subdomain.domain.com. I enter my login and password and do NOT check the "Remember password" option. Report is displayed. I press "Bookmark". Everything works fine - the URL changes to
http://mybw.subdomain.domain.com:8000/sap/bw/bex?SAP-LANGUAGE=E&BOOKMARK_ID=9DZRGGZZDRV4C1X9TQROC7TFK
No additional requests about password.
Any ideas?

Retrieve the link from Bookmark of Report view on Enterprise Poral

Hi All,
We are running the BEx queries on Enterprise Portal. When I try to Bookmark a particular View of the query it says:
"Bookmark 4XX9XXYJF84229XXQF2TBAZZD saved".
If at a later stage I want to run the same view of the report, from where can I retrieve the 'Link' of this Bookmark (considering I did not save the link initially).
I tried to T-code 'RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG', but that does not give me the link.

I am would like to create a bookmark (for PDF file) for my report. I am a little confused on how this is done. I tried adding bookmark on Property sheet of a group. The bookmark did create, but when this report is combined with the rest of the reports (13 in all) and I use the bookmark to jump through the reports it doesn't work. Please could get a crash course on creating a bookmark?

hello,
the bookmark property is used to create an entry in the bookmark-area (PDF) or bookmark-frame (html) to navigate within a report. it will bring up the objct a the top of the screen uppon selection.
it is desined for navigating within a report not across reports.

Report Generation Toolkit (Word) : How to use correctly bookmark and cross-reference without "Error! Reference source not found"

Hi,
I try to generate a report using a template. In my template I use some cross-reference to refer to one bookmark. For exemple in the first page I created a bookmark for my name and in the header I created a cross-reference refer to my name. The problems is when I run my VI the bookmark actualise perfectly but the cross-reference refer to the bookmark can't actualise with the same value and generates an error : "Error! Reference source not found".
Can somebody help me please!

Hi,
When i create the word template, the bookmaks and the cross-reference referred to the bookmark update correctely. The problem is when I try to change the bookmark using "report generation from template vi" the bookmark change but not the cross-reference and the error generated is "Error! Reference source not found".
I make coople reasherch and i think they have no solution for this because : "if the text in a heading referred to in a cross-reference is revised, the cross-reference to the heading may no longer work" (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/troubleshoot-cross-references-HP005189368.aspx).
To "resolved" this problem I create an other bookmark in the template who have the same value white the principle bookmark.
I use Labview 2011 and Micosoft office 2010.

Crystal Report Export to PDF with Group Tree Bookmarks

I have created a Crystal Report aspx page with an export function of the report to pdf. So far all has been successful, except form one little annoying this. The report does export to a pdf file and it does create bookmarks based on the group tree, BUT when opening the pdf file the bookmarks hiest point which should be the file name is the really long temp file name with .rpt as an extension. I have looked every where to try to get it to write the filename to the bookmark hierarchy without success.
I come you you all for any form of help to solve this issue.

Using the search box in the top right corner and entering the search string 'bookmark pdf crystal', the very 1st KBA is:
1331152 - Report exported to PDF format with bookmarks displays the bookmarks as report name plus a GUID
Please see if this resolves the issue for you.

How to add bookmarks automatically in a monthly report from several excel files?

Hello!
I´m using Excel 2010 and Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
I´m used to create a monthly Report in which several Excel files are combined. I usually sort the booksmarks´ hierarchy manually.
I´m searching for a method to standardize this work.
I it possible to use Acrobat Pro XI and it´s Action Wizard, is that possible?

Is the length of the reports always the same? If so then a bookmarks
structure can be quite easily added using a script.
If not then it still might be possible but will require a much more complex
script to identify and then bookmark each report (or part thereof)
separately.

Making Bookmark of PDF by Report Writer

I've generate a pdf file (with bookmark) by Report Writer.
I find that the tree like bookmark have been default to expand.
How can I set it to collapse by default ?

Alright I found another option which possibly solves my problem
With the actions of the bookmarks it's possible to delete and add new documents.
But if I click the bookmark acrobat wants me to select the file and the pages which are replaced.
How can I save the file which should be opened?
Like: Click at the bookmark -> document deletes itself -> the right document is added.
The user shouldn't be able to change any options (like the document which is added)
Can I define the document which is deleted and which is added permanently?

Filters for RRI reports in bookmark

i had executed the receiver report from the source report with the filter values and the receiver report is showing correct data.in the receiver report i had changed the filter values and saved receiver report as an bookmark ,but when i open this bookmark we are getting the initial filter values which we had given while executing from the source report.
we want to see the filter values which we have given in the receiver report and bookmarked the report afterwords.,
please suggest.

You can create prompt like below.
1. Go to Group column Edit formula copy the below statement.
case when 1=5 then transaction_type else 'A' end
2. Go to show option and select SQL Results paste it below statement.
SELECT case when 1=5 then Your column name else 'A' end FROM "your subject area" Union All SELECT case when 1=5 then your column name else 'B' end FROM your subject area Union All SELECT case when 1=5 then your column name else 'C' end FROM "your subject area"
3 select set variable --> Presentation variable --> give me any name.
4. Save it this prompt
5. Go to your report apply this column in as filter with presentation variable.
Output like this.
If you select A then it will give A related data,
If your select B then it will give B related data,
If you select C Then it will give C related data.
I am not sure this is what your looking so far.

In portal BookMark and save view are not working

we already published the web application via iView in our portal.
What I am looking for is to bookmark an already published web application within EP portal. E.g. I open the web application with specific filter and make some drills. Now I want to bookmark this report situation and save the generated url under my favorites.
For me this is not working. When I click the bookmark option noting happened. My address bar url also not changed; no bookmark URL was created.
Save view also is not working
Please help ......

How to embed fonts AND keep bookmarks?

Hello, newbie here.
I use MS Sql Server Reporting Services to generate a lengthy report, often over 100 pages. The report must be distributed as a PDF, and it must use some slightly unusual fonts, and it needs bookmarks. Reporting Services has a PDF rendering engine which can insert the bookmarks, but it cannot embed fonts (I'm using Visual Studio 2005).
So after some investigation, I saw that I can embed fonts by converting the PDF to a Postscript (PS) file, then use Distiller to re-create the PDF with embedded fonts. A bit clumsy, but it works, EXCEPT that apparently the conversion to PS removes the bookmarks.
So I am guessing that I'm going about this all wrong, and am hoping some one here can show me a better way. Oh yes, I have Acrobat 9 Pro and Distiller 9.

You may be overcomplicating this. Hopefully, depending on which SQL report writer you use, you can configure it to embed fonts or at least a subset of the fonts at the time of the report generation. I have never had much luck with it outputting bookmarks so if you have mastered that, you have me beat. I took a section from my SQL report help on embedding fonts and and plagiarizing and pasting it below:
Font Embedding
When possible, the PDF rendering extension embeds the subset of each font that is needed to display the report in the PDF file. Fonts that are used in the report must be installed on the report server. When the report server generates a report in PDF format, it uses the information stored in the font referenced by the report to create character mappings within the PDF file. If the referenced font is not installed on the report server, the resulting PDF file might not contain the correct mappings and might not display correctly when viewed.
Fonts are embedded in the PDF file when the following conditions apply:
Font embedding privileges are granted by the font author. Installed fonts include a property that indicates whether the font author intends to allow embedding a font in a document. If the property value is EMBED_NOEMBEDDING, the font is not embedded in the PDF file. For more information, see "TTGetEmbeddingType" on msdn.microsoft.com.
The Font is TrueType.
The characters in the string that has the Font property set are Unicode, not ANSI. No font embedding occurs for ANSI characters.
Fonts are referenced by visible items in a report. If a font is referenced by an item that has the Hidden property set to True, the font is not needed to display rendered data and will not be included in the file. Fonts are embedded only when they are needed to display the rendered report data.
If all of these conditions are met for a font, the font is embedded in the PDF file. If one or more of these conditions is not met, the font is not embedded in the PDF file.
Fonts on the Client Computer
When a font is embedded in the PDF file, the computer that is used to view the report (the client computer) does not need to have the font installed for the report to display correctly.
When a font is not embedded in the PDF file, the client computer must have the correct font installed for the report to display correctly. If the font is not installed on the client computer, the PDF file displays a question mark character (?) for unsupported characters.
Verifying Fonts in a PDF File
The fonts that are embedded in the PDF file are included in the Fonts property that is saved with the file, as metadata.
To check if the font is embedded go to File/Properties/Fonts and see the status of the fonts, if they say embedded or subset embedded you are all set.

Portal framework when using bookmarks

Hi
When we use bookmarks to run reports, the portal framework does not show (the portal menu). It is only the BI template that is shown just like when you run a template from WAD. Is it possible to direct the user to the report with the portal framework around the WAD template when using bookmarks?

I do not want to create confusion but PFCG would not be helpful. If users want to run the report for different variables and different drilldowns. It would not be possible to keep record of their each bookmark and adding it to the Role.
