Brasero refuses to burn

It's a blank dvd and it doesn't want to write an .iso to it. I am in the optical group, and I ran it normally; didn't work then. Then I ran it with sudo and it still didnt work.
I have no clue what's wrong here's the log it gave:

  • Dual 1.8 Refuses to Burn 16X DVD

Any way to get my Mac to burn 15Xs DVDs? Every time I try to use a 16Xs blank DVD for burning purpose I get a no can do type message. 8Xs DVDs are fine. I know that my Sony DVD burner is limited to *Xs burns but why does it refuse to use 16Xs disks? (8Xs disks are getting hard to find.) It doesn't matter if I use iDVD, Toast Titanium 7.X, or Apple's Disk utility to burn. No luck.

It is going to a 16Xs disk that causes the
    problem
Better start buying up all the 8X you can. I have
    not used any 16X.
I just picked up 100 on sale for about 30 cents a piece. I just wonder if Apple will come up with some firmware to fix this problem. I have an old Panasonic desk top DVD player/burner for recording shows on cable and it handles 16Xs without a problem and I doubt whether it can burn at high speeds. It records and dubs in real time.
8Xs disks ARE becoming VERY HARD to find. The last batch were a manager sale of 50 pack TDKs for $14.95 and we know why they were on sale, don't we (8Xs disks).

  • IDVD6.0.1 refuses to burn DVD onto DVD

I have till today successfully burned dvd's, that play both on PAL and NTSC.
All of a sudden I get a message that I need to put in a blank DVD, recordeable, while I popped several blanks in...
At first I thought it was a faulty DVD, but it refuses on all of my DVD's. I have used the same DVD's for more then six months now, so I know they are OK.
Did I upgrade to 6.01 and harm anything? Are there bugs known for 6.01?
When I try to burn it straight from Toast, it burns, but then has no audio and other data when I put it in the DVD player.
I need an urgent answer as this is for a wedding DVD....

    You're welcome Catherine!
    Just hope it fixes it!
But you won't need the combo upgrade then-just the Delta:

    Hey Guys.
When i tried to burn a CD i noticed that i couldn't. Since i rarely do this i don't know since when this problem exists.
    // ... deleted (see Edit)
Did something change? Because of the mentioned .service file i tought it may be because of because of systemd but booting in fallback will result in the same behavior.
Reinstalling did brasero did not solve the problem either.
    Thanks
    EDIT:
Turns out that tracker is a indexing program in gnome-extra and has little to do with this...

  • Why does iTunes sometimes refuse to burn a 78:30 playlist?!?

Most of the time iTunes 6 will burn a 79:30 playlist to an 80-minute CD-R with no fuss. (That's a real 79:30 or 79:40 or even 79:55, not the list of times as iTunes displays them to the whole second. I monitor the time precisely using the Info/Options panel for each track.)
But once in a while, iTunes decides a playlist is too long even when it's not, like when it is really 78:30. This happens erratically. But when it does continue to give me this message, no amount of chopping time off each track seems to matter. (I use Peak to edit out "dead air" at the end. Doing this to 20 tracks can cut over a minute from the total time of a playlist.) It will only burn to one CD if I remove a whole track.
I just tested one case where it burned 75:50 but not the last track, which was another 2:43. I rebuilt the playlist one track at a time with a new name, but no cigar. I really want this particular 78:30 playlist on one CD. Can anyone help with this?

I would like at once to thank you for making this point again and also to say that it is just not relevant to the problem I'm having. However much space TAO takes up, at the end of the day it's accountable in the total time on the CD. I am not having a problem with iTunes failing to accept a playlist near the limit of time. When the playlist plus TAO space plus anything else adds up to under 80 minutes, iTunes will burn it.
My problem comes when I begin with a playlist of specific tracks that total a few seconds more than 80 minutes. Not incidentally, this is the result of iTunes adding from two to five seconds to each track as it imports the track using Apple Lossless Compression. As a result, a playlist that was actually shorter than 80 minutes becomes longer than 80 minutes.
Then, WITHOUT CHANGING THE TITLES, I remove 60 seconds from the total playlist time BY EDITING THOSE TITLES to make them shorter. For example, "Only the Lonely.mp4" is changed from 2:28.93 to 2:23.87.
I do this by using Peak to remove "dead air" from the end of the track. I then save the new file and substitute it for the old one in the iTunes library. I look before and after at the iTunes file info to confirm I have actually shortened the track by 5.06 seconds as far as iTunes is concerned. In my playlist the time now reads 2:23 instead of 2:28. I do this to other tracks, 10 or more times, to reduce the actual running time of the playlist by a full minute or more. The playlist is now UNDER 79 MINUTES.
But iTunes will not burn this exact playlist on one CD. IF, on the other hand, I simply change one track from my playlist to another track (with a new name) and a shorter playing time, iTunes will burn it just fine. What iTunes will not let me do is burn the exact playlist I started with, from which I have subtracted a full minute's time. I need a fix for this specific situation.

  • IDVD refuses to burn lengthy video even though it's set to dual-layer DVD.

*"Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn this project, remove some content."*
    Project:
*- total project duration: 164:10 minutes*
*- total project capacity: 5.208 GB (max. available: 4.172 GB)*
    Menus:
*- number of menus in project: 2 menus*
*- total menu duration: 1:10 minutes*
*- total menu capacity: 54.240 MB*
    Movies:
*- total movies duration: 163:00 minutes*
*- total movies capacity: 5.155 GB*
This should fit quite snug on a dual-layer DVD, which I've gone to the preferences and changed to do so. It won't even let me make a disc image.

What encoding mode / bit rate is it set at?
I strongly suggest not exceeding 120 mins. (2 hours) max unless you opt to use a 3rd party app like Roxio Toast's Fit to DVD option.

  • Play list refuses to burn!

I'm using an iMac G4 with about 12gigs of HD space available (I know, I know) and I put my itunes library on my external HD a 250 gig external. Before I did that I could burn CD's with no problem.
Today, I went through close to 25 CD-R's trying to burn 3 stupid songs. In itunes preferences I have it set to "Audio CD" and I have in importing set to "MP3 encoding" I remember that after the disc burned it would automatically eject itself. Now, it will write the disc, burn and then make a second copy on the desk top. Basically, I will put in the blank disc, name it and it will mount to the desktop showing how much space is available and ready to go, then when I go through the steps to burn, a second disc will come on the desktop under the same name I named the disc "Mix File" or whatever, and it will have the mp3's on it, but the first disc that mounted will still be sitting there and when I go to remove it the eject symbol will turn into the "burn" symbol. So, I go ahead and drag the disc to be burned and then it will say "An error occured with the disc. It cannot be used" or something to that effect.
I strongly believe that it has something to do with me having itunes on the external, but I don't understand what. I am BEYOND frustrated. I don't understand why 'double' discs are showing up and why the first disc is still sitting there waiting to be burned after everything has gone through the motions of burning the CD. Does anyone think it has something to do with the external? I don't know what to do.
    The disc I'm using are hp cd-r 52x 700mb/80min
    Help please!

I am confused. It sounds like you are going two things. First you are loading in a blank CD and in the FINDER, mounting it to be used to store files. Then you try to go into iTunes and have it burn a playlist, where it will ask for its own CD. It won't know to use the "mounted" blank CD you set up.
You should NOT put in a blank initially. Instead, set up your playlist, hit the burn button and wait for iTunes to prompt you for a blank.

  • My mac refuses to burn cds...

Everytime I try to burn a cd my Mac wont let me.. i don't think there's anything wrong with my mac because I tried it on another and it still wont let me. But the cd is brand new so I don't think it's that either?!

My White MacBook has a similar issue but with DVDs - the ONLY make that seems to work is Sony - all others work occasionally but generally eject with errors at some point in hte burning and verification process.
CDs on the other hand are generally OK.

  • Superdrive refuses to burn anything

Hey my emacs superdrive wont burn at all, it still reads all disks fine.
At first i could just use a lower speed but now that wont work, is there any easy fix or is it buggered an i gotta get a new one?

    stilivn,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Have you tried using a CD lens cleaner disc for a couple of passes? If there's a buildup of grime on the optical disc's lenses (CD and DVD operate at different wavelengths), that can prevent burning while still allowing discs to be read.
Have you tried different, fresh CD-R and DVD-R blank discs? Unused discs can degrade over time; refer to Care and Handling of CDs and DVDs.
If the optical disc's LEDs have degraded and no longer put out enugh power to burn discs, you can try vendors such as Small Dog Electronics for an external Firewire optical drive as the easiest replacement.

  • IDVD refuses to burn

I was burning an iDVD presentation. The process went all the way through to the actual burn stage and then stopped and said that there was a problem (it did not specify what the problem was) and that it could not continue, that the DVD was unused and could be used later. That was it.
How do I figure out what the problem is so I can complete the processing and burning process? Thanks.

    Hi
    OK
    • free space is OK - 25Gb or more
Then here are other things that can be problematic
    • Type of file used eg. .avi, .wmv, .mp4, .mp3 etc
    What did You use ?
    • Corrupted iDVD pref file
Close iDVD and trash this and re-start
    • If You started iDVD - then gone back to iMovie or FCE for just a minor correction
then back to iDVD and Updated - THIS IS A MAJOR BUG in iDVD - Can't be done !
You have to start a new iDVD project and from this burn a DiskImage, test this then
burn with iDVD or Rather Apple Disk Util tool (no need of re-calculating - hours saved)

  • Picture refuses to burn in main menue screen

I have tried repeatedly to burn a project with "pixel aspect ratio" settings of D1/DV Ntsc Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121). Everything burns well except the jpg picture from my files that I have inserted in the main menue is missing. The picture appears ok in the layout screen, but is totally black in the finshed DVD. I have been successful in inserting a video file from within the project, but the jpg picture, which also is in the project, will not burn in the main menue picture insert area. Can anyone help me know why this is happening and how to fix it.

This is a Bug in PrE 9.
This THREAD (plus several others) goes into more detail on the issue.
Unfortunately, the new PrE 9.0.1 update did not fix this.
    Sorry for the bad news,

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 8 refuses to burn a widescreen disc

I'm having trouble burning a 16:9 disc with Premiere Elements 8 even though the project settings are for widescreen and I select widescreen at burn time. Has anyone else had this problem?

That was what I had anticipated.
It could be due to a setting on the camera, or even how the particular camera records Widscreen 16:9. Some shoot Standard 4:3, and will just crop (in-camera) the footage to "look like" Widescreen, but it is not.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
