Breakdown in a hierarchy in BPC?

Hi Experts,
I'm quite new to BPC and I'm wondering if planning or making breakdown through a hierarchy is possible.
This is my problem. I have an article and want to make a breakdown to the different components of it. The components are in a parent-son relationship in the hierarchy. When I want to execute the breakdown, or save the application, I'm told it is not possible. Is this true? How can I make a breakdown or an allocation work in a BPC hierarchy?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Àlex

  • Printing a Dynamic Hierarchy in BPC 5.1

    Hi,
    I am trying to print the graphic representation of a dynamic hierarchy in BPC 5.1.  There is no apparent way to print the hierarchy from the DHE and when I check the documentation, they suggest the use of a EVDRE report.  However, based on my testing, I can't seem to see any function in EVDRE that would be able to pull the graphical representation of the org structure that I have keyed into DHE out.  Am i missing something here?  Appreciate any help and feedback, thanks.

    Hi Adrian,
    We have the same problem. We need to have a report with the perimeter (DHE) of the companies as intuitive and graphical as possible. Have you solve your problem?

  • How to create hierarchy in BPC NW 7.0 for a child which has two parents ?

    I need to create a hierarchy in which some of the children have 2 parents (only some, not all of them). I tried using two columns - parenth1, parenth2. but it would not permit me since I cannot leave p2 blank for those children which have only one parent. If I try putting in p1 and p2 same for such children, then I get an error saying duplicate.
    Please advice.

    How do you expect this roll-up to work numerically? Do you want ACCOUNT1 to be counted twice at the Child level, or do you expect it to cancel out (like it would in a BW hierarchy)?
    I'm curious about the structure of your P&L that leads you to want this type of display. I have seen a lot of P&Ls and I've seen this requirement a few times, but usually you can meet it by recognizing that the P&L hierarchy and the reporting structure are separate. In this case we can often re-factor a single reporting structure with this type of roll-up into two or more separate P&L hierarchies, or we can use calculated accounts to provide for a more flexible reporting structure.
    In any case, the scenario you describe is not possible using a single account and a single hierarchy in BPC. You can do one of the following (I'm probably missing an option):
    1. Use two hierarchies or more hierarchies, to model alternative roll-ups of the base accounts into your different P&L formats.
    2. Use a single hierarchy and another account and a script logic to copy the value of ACCOUNT1 to the new account.
    3. Use a formula account to automatically copy values to a different spot in the existing hierarchy (will not roll-up)

  • Dynamic Hierarchy - SAP BPC 7.5 MS

    Hello everyone. I am running SAP BPC 7.5 on the Microsoft Platform.
    The issue I am running into is that I have children entities that have two parent entities. The Entity Dimension has our traditional organization chart. However, our reports require an alternate hierarchy.
    Example:
    Company A is a child of Company ABC in the org chart
    however for reporting purposes
    Company A is a child of Company XYZ
    I need to pull in company XYZ in the report so that Company A is reported as being a part of it.
    I need to be able to set up something using a dimension property that will allow me to pull in this hierarchy into our reports, WITHOUT using expansions.
    The reason I cannot use expansions is some of the report will use the traditional org chart and the other portion of the report will use the alternate hierarchy.
    I there some way to do this without using expansions?
    I have setup a dimension property called "GROUP" that identifies the alternate hierarchy. However, the only way I know to pull it in the report is through the use of expansions in the "MembersSet" filter.
    I have also tried to use the "Dynamic Hierarchy Editor" only to discover that you have to define hierarchies for specific time periods, and still use expansions.
    Any suggestions? I feel like I am missing something.
    Thank you in advance.
    Will

    Hi Will,
    From what you describe I think an alternate (second/ H2) hierarchy is needed.
    You can try adding a second hierarchy to your Entity dimension member sheet (PARENTH2) to see if that meets your requirement.
    You can only create reports that have a hard-coded row or column key range or a dynamic row/column key range  defined in the memberset field.

  • "All" Hierarchy in BPC

    Hello Everybody,
    I have a doubt about updating a hierarchy in SAP BPC, and I need your help.
    I'm working with SAP BPC 10.1, and I need to create a hierarchy in a dimensión that is not hierarchized in BW, so I can't import it.
    I remember that working with BPC 10.0, I created a hierarchy with a transformation file, making a mapping for all members to "All" in this way.
    ------ TRANSFORMATION FILE ------
    *MAPPING
    NODENAME = ID
    HIER_NAME = HIER_NAME
    PARENT = PARENT
    ORDER = ORDER
    IOBJNM = IOBJNM
    VERSION = VERSION
    *CONVERSION
    NODENAME = CONVERSION_HIER_CECO.xls!HIER
    ------ CONVERSION FILE --------
    EXTERNAL          INTERNAL          FORMULA
    *                            All
    I have tried this option in SAP BPC 10.1, but it doesn't work. Somebody knows why this method is not valid?
    Since this way is not working, I have tried to make a script logic to fill the hierarchy, but I've never made a script logic. The one i've made is:
    *WHEN P_DEST_MER
    *IS DISTINCT (All, Dummy)
    *REC (Parenth1 = All)
    *ENDWHEN
    It seems so simple, so I think i'm doing several things bad, Could somebody help me?
    Thank you in advance
    Best regards

    Hi Antonio,
    You need an ABAPer to code it for you.

  • Issue in loading Vendor Hierarchy in BPC 7.5 in NW version

    Hi Gurus,
    I am using BPC NW version 7.5.
    I am automating vendor master data for loading Ids in BPC dimension.
    My BI infoobject (0Vendor) has no Hierarchy.It has only Member ids.Business Requirement is to populate Hierarchy as Defaulf as ALLVENDOR.
    By using the DM in BPC i loaded Member ID sucessfully in the BPC Dimension.
    Please guide me with steps for populating Hierarchy as Default (ALLVENDORS) in the Parent1 column in BPC dimension.
    Thanks In advance.
    Mahesh

    Scott,
    Mapping the hierarchy in the transformation file via PARENTH1=*NEWCOL(ALLVENDORS) gives an error message 'Hierarchy is not allowed to be created by mapping PARENTH1'. So I think the only way of maintaining default PARENTH1 values - besides loading from a hierarchy - is to populate it via the Excel BPC dimension maintenance. Which can be cumbersome, specifically if a lot of new members get added frequently to a dimension and the dimension sheet each time needs to be manually updated. The only other way I can think of is to create an ENDROUTINE BADI for this which I am not sure if it allows to populate PARENTH1.

  • BPC 10.0 - Hierarchy Issue

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to load a hierarchy to BPC 10.0 and I am having issues.
    I am getting the error:
    "HIERARCHY DATA SOURCE:
    An exception with the type CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS occurred, but was neither handled locally, nor declared in a RAISING clause Part - field access (offset = 4, length - 10) to a data object of the size 11 exceeds valid boundaries.
    model: CONSOLIDATION
    Package status: Error"
    We are going through an upgrade and this was one of my test cases to try. I have all the hierarchy information filled out on the set selection screen (no blanks).
    I also tried peeling back the number of levels, and the first 3 loaded successfully, it was the 4th and beyond that would cause this.
    In my conversion file I have the first four digits ignored from these values at the 4th + level but it is still considering it all over 10.
    One example is "CIGMC500000" so CIGM would be ignored but it is still not allowing it to load.
    The prior version we had with this never gave us this problem. Is there a way I can change the hierarchy allowance for the H1 length?

    Hi Ryan!
    Have you set a condition in your conversion file that the length only can be10 positions or lower?
    The example you gave is 11 positions long , even if you remove the 4 first positions the lenght from the BW side will come as 11. So what I think you have to do is to correct your conversion file sop it will allow length above 10 postions.
    Please if this dont help, share your conversionfile

  • BPC 10.0 NW - skipping in hierarchy upload

    Hej Gurus
    I have a question regarding automatic upload of a hierarchy from BW into BPC. We have a hierarchy with all costcenters including both active and inactive costcenters, and these costcenters are spread out through the hierarchy.
    In BPC, we only need the active costcenters, but the inactive is needed in other applications, so it is not possible to change the hierarchy.
    Is it possible to do a skip based on a BW attribute, when importing a hierarchy or is it possible to make it only look at costcenters in BPC?
    Alternatively, is it possible to pick up the parent in the master data attribute/text from BW process chain? In this it is possible to skip based on an attribute.
    Best regards,
    Mikkel Kristensen

    Hi Mikkel,
    As suggested by Gersh, you have to consider that point.
    Coming to the you problem you can crated additional hierarchy for BPC to existing info object by considering only active CCs with the help of ABAP. You can also automate this hierarchy creation.
    While loading master data you can load only active CC by selecting option "Set filters by attribute AND hierarchy" and while loading hierarchy select custom hierarchy created for BPC. This approach will not affect your existing development and no need to create z object as well as no need to add in to cube.

  • Leading 0's in BW have been removed in BPC but how to convert internal to external for hierarchy load.

    When loading MD/Hierarchy into BPC from BW, I'm removing 0's appended to MD using js: parseInt(%external).
    BW --> 000000123456
    BPC -->123456
    But when loading Hierarchy later I need to have a conversion which allow me tell system that BPC members are without 0's
    BW-->000011111
    BPC-->11111
    I've tried the below different conversion mappings but didn't work.
    External               Internal
          *                    js:parseInt(%external)
    0000?????              ?????
    0000*                       *
    Some how I need to tell system that 000011111 has been changed to 11111 in BPC.
    Can you guys please help me with the correct conversion??

    Hi Asif,
    js:parseInt(%external) is correct, make sure you are applying the conversion for all the IDs and NODEs.

  • BPC - hierarchy restructuring - does that help? and how it can be done?

    Hi All
    We have a Approval hierarchy, upto 15 levels.
    1. Will dividing this hierarchy into two parts, 1st 1-7 level and other 8-15 level improve the System performance?
    2. Can we build aggregation levels for this hierarchy in BPC cubes?
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Abhishek
    Edited by: ABHISHEK JAIN on Mar 30, 2009 9:44 AM

    1. In theory, more level brings more calculation. Since BPC is using hybrid partitions (MOLAP + ROLAP), less level definately faster. But it is hard to catch because there are too many other factors. From pure OLAP point of view, less level is better for performance.
    2. In multiple hierarchy design, you cannot have aggregated level for both of hierarchies easily. I think you may try make 3rd hierarchy and pull data from 1st, 2nd by dimension formula. And you can have parent member for these members in 3rd hierarchy. Like below:
    +--TOTAL
    +----AGG_HIR1 ([DIM].[H1].[TOP])
    +----AGG_HIR2 ([DIM].[H2].[TOP])
    Hope this would work.

  • How to load a partial hierarchy

    EPM 10 NW
    While loading 0GL_ACCOUNT not all master data in BW is relevant for my planning in BPC hence i need to load only one branch of the hierarchy.
    As far I can tell we can only filter by an attribute when you are loading from BW INFOOBJECT using Data Manager package. But in our case there is no attribute which can identify all the members i need to load.
    Is there a way to load master data from only a specific branch and not full hierarchy?
    NODE
    NODE1 -> NODE11, NODE12
    NODE2 -> NODE21, NODE22
    In the above tree i only want to extract NODE2 -> NODE21,NODE22    into hierarchy  ignoring NODE1 in BW.
    ~Dilkins

    Hi Andrew!
    I´m not sure if you can explicit just load one branch, but you have some options both in transformation file and in Conversion file.
    If that dont work then I guess one option is to load the whole hierarchy and then build your pown customized hiearchy and use that in the planning sheets.
    For ex if you load the whole hierarchy and then define a Parenth2 hierarchy in BPC and use only Node and Node 2 members in that hierarchy.

  • Create Hierarchy in REport

    Hello SAP Guru,
    Please any one can giv me procedure to create hierarchy in BPC Report using Report & Analysis.
    Thanks.
    With regards,
    Anand KUmar

    Hi Anand,
    I believe, you want a structure like this:
    Acc1
       Acc2
          Acc3
       Acc4
       Acc5
          Acc6
    Acc7
    If this is the case, then you need to setup a hierarchy in the dimension sheet first. You need to use the property ParentH1, etc. I hope you are aware of this. If this has been setup in the member sheet, then the system will automatically create a property called HLEVEL and then you can use the formula which I had specified earlier. It will definitely work. For the above example, you need to specify the formula only for Acc1, and then expand. You will get the display like above.
    Hope this helps.
