Broadband email

I would like an answer to this:
Broadband email keeps placing messages from my address book contacts in the trash folder.  Why is this and what's the fix?

Hi- Sorry to bother you.
I have a similar problem.
Some of my inbox end up in trash on my bt/yahoo webmail.
I normally download emails using outlook 2007. I'm having to check online to see if I have missed mail - a bit pointless when I am using Outlook.
Thanks - Dave
Hi Dave. Welcome to the forums.
The trash folder is populated when emails have been downloaded via a pop3 client such as Outlook (and the item to leave messages on server not checked).
This is a recently introduced feature.
The place to check for any possible missed emails would still be the Spam folder in webmail, unless you've chosen to receive all emails including those deemed as spam.

  • Connecting Nokia e5 to Broadband Email Account

I have a new Nokia e5 phone and want to connect it to my online email account via my broadband provider (centurytel.net).  I have set up a mailbox using the "Other" option, entered the incoming and outgoing server addresses and ports.  I have verified that the information is correct with Centurytel, but still cannot send or receive messages.  Please help!

    @kbnelson
Pretty certain that with E72 a similar S60 3rd Ed. FP2 device you had to set up Email account with a 3G network access point to get it verified, although you could then change it's access point to WLAN afterwards.

  • Can't send Virgin Broadband email from N97

I have a new N97 and have set up email in the N97 as per settings in outlook express....Virgin Broadband is my ISP
Settings - Incoming Mail Server Type: POP3,  Incoming Mail Server Name: mail.virginbroadband.com.au, Outgoing Mail Server Name: smtp.virginbroadband.com.au.
I can receive email ok, but cannot send email. It starts to send then says "Unable to send message: recipient", then checks my mailbox user name & password (which are correct), then tries to send again but keeps repeating those steps....
What should my security setting be? Port is set at the default (25).
Any ideas? Is it a Nokia problem or Virgin Broadband?

I have exactly the same problem with my N97 mini. The contract is with Virgin, I've called them and basically they said get lost - if you can browse it's not their problem.
I've tried setting email up with my provider LCN using the pop/smtp setting that work in outlook. Receive is fine, send doesn't work.
I then tried setting up a gmail account because setup does not need any pop/smtp settings, just a username and password. Same problem Delivery Status Notification 500.
I bought this phone purely for the email capability - so I'm not happy. I've wasted hours trying to get this to work. I've noticed something on one of the forums that alleges that Virgin does not support email smtp sending from mobiles but not sure if that's just hearsay.
I'm going to call Virgin tomorrow and try and get them to take the phone back under their 28 day guarantee but I'm not optimistic.

  • BT Broadband Email - Secondary / Primary Account C...

I have BT Broadband with a primary and secondary email address.
Both emails are @btinternet.com addresses, and I use the BT Yahoo IMAP servers to send receive email on my desktop and various mobile devices (iPhone / iPad / Android HC Tablet).
The issue is, intermittently, I get messages that have been sent to my secondary (sub-account) email appear in my primary account.
There is always a delay, which can be anything from a few hours to a month or so. The messages have been previously "read" in my secondary account, but appear as "unread" in my primary account. They always also come through to my primary account in bulk ie multiple messages at once.
This is not a device issue as I have been logged into the bt.yahoo.com web mail interface when this has happened.
Surely I should not be receiving emails that have been sent and received on my secondary email address into my primary email address?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
This sounds a very strange scenario, and nothing I have ever heard of before.
Can you say if the forwarded emails happen after a certain event, such as logging on via an iPad etc ? It does seem like there may be some rule set up in a mail client product you are using that sends the received sub account emails onto the primary.
Clearly something is triggering this. I don't expect it's an outside miscreant who may have got your passwords - so even though it might be worth altering the password, I don't expect that to be relevant (why would someone even do that!).

  • Transfer Broadband Email Account to Premium Mail

I am in the process of separating from my partner and we wish to separate our email accounts.
We wish to retain the broadband service but move the primary email account and one of the secondary accounts to Premium Mail.
Does anyone know how to make this happen? The call centre person that I spoke to said that it could’t be done without cancelling the broadband service but other posts seem to indicate that it is possible.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hi JonMars,
Thanks for posting. If the primary ermail account is staying attached to the broadband then there wouldn't be any need to change that and we can change the sub account to premium mail. If the sub account is staying connected to the broadband it will need to be upgraded as the primary account and then the old primary account can be changed to premium mail. I hope that makes sense. Drop me an email with the account details and both email addresses plus a link to this post for reference. You'll find the address in my profile.
    Cheers

  • Can you change the email address to where your Bro...

    Hello.
My BT Broadband account BT Internet emaill address is a different email address to my everyday BT Internet email address that I use to send from and receive emails in.
I don't send emails at all from my BT Broadband account email address.
Therefore when my BT Broadband Usage goes over 6GB and then 8GB, I am not aware of it unless I log into my BT.com account and check or log into my BT Broadband account btinternet.com email address as the advisory emails go into that address which I don't use for emailing from.
Is there any way I can have these advisory emails sent to my everyday BT Internet email address instead? Or even continue to be sent there and my main email address? Either by being able to do anything online or by contacting BT by phone or email and have them do it?
I did actually contact BT once before by emailing them and someone in India phoned me back to say they will do that for me but they've not done anything at all for me and the advisory emails still continue to go into my BT Broadband email address instead.
Could anyone tell me if switching the email address or adding an email address as to where these BT Broadband Usage emails are sent to is possible?
Hope it is and that you can tell me how this can be done with any helpful link or contact address/number without speaking to anyone in India.
    Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem, except that the advisory emails are being sent to a completely new email address which I never set up and which I can't access or login to.  I didn't know about this until a bill arrived with a £5 charge for excess broadband usage, but I didn't know how to check it until now.  I have now received an email (to my correct address) saying "Keep an eye on your usage" which has a link to an online monitor and to my horror I see that my usage has been well over the cap for some months.  Yet I never received the advisory emails because I had no idea they were being sent to the unknown address.  How can BT invent an email address and then use it to warn me?  More to the point, how do I change that email address?  I can't login to it because I don't know the password!
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Tony.

  • How do I... Unblock an email address

I have managed to put an email address of a friend to reject all messages.  The messages they send to me get sent back to them with a message of undeliverable.
Any ideas on how to resolve the issue?
    I have checked junk mail.
I have added the address to my address book.
I dont know if bounced it (accidently).
    Thank you.

  • BT can't find my broadband package - Help/advice n...

    Hello
So glad I found this forum – I'm in need of some help before I go mad!
I have been a BT internet customer for nearly 10 years.
The trouble started at the end of July when I tried to add BT sport free (I have Sky). I couldn't do it online, so I went on online chat and they said I didn't have a broadband account with them. After an hour of me trying to convince them that I am a customer, they finally said they couldn't help me other than to suggest I talk to sales to add broadband to my account – I already have BT broadband!
I then emailed the residential customer services team via the complaints route to express my dismay at the poor treatment of a long-term loyal customer and to request that they intervene and sort the situation out for me.
They repeated that I only have landline showing with them and asked whether I had another account number. My internet has always been billed separately to my phone account, but looking through all my documents I couldn't see that I'd ever had an account number for my internet service.
I discovered when I looked at my account in BT Yahoo email, that I was still on the BT Yahoo Anytime Plus service, but there was no account number to be seen anywhere. Like many people on this forum I received occasional emails from BT at the end of 2011 saying that I would be transferred to BT Total Broadband Option 1 at some point, but this obviously never happened.
On reading this forum I discovered that there are a number of people like me who have 'unaligned' accounts where they're still on an old service that is billed separately and not linked to their MyBT account. I also read on this forum that someone had managed to find their separate internet account number by checking their bank statement direct debit info. I did this and managed to find an account number (starting GB followed by 8 numbers) but I've tried to use it online myself and it isn't recognised, so I've emailed the residential services team with this number.
They haven't replied to me yet – it's well past the 72 hours they're supposed to reply in – and I've got a strong feeling they're just going to say they can't find the account number on their system. If they reply at all.
Interestingly, I went onto my BT Yahoo email account page today and my internet product had changed from BT Yahoo Anytime Plus to BT Total Broadband Option 1.
Now, I don't know if my message has triggered some action at BT's end, but if it has they haven't told me. My big concern now is that my BT Yahoo Anytime Plus was unlimited with no contract and it now looks like I've been moved to a product with a tiny 10GB limit. I run an online business so I'm rarely offline and I'd exceed my limit within a few days. I'm worried that I'm already exceeding my usage, and if I hadn't looked I wouldn't even know I'd been moved.
All I want is for BT to recognise and merge my accounts, and then I can upgrade to an unlimited package (which will cost less than what I'm paying now anyway). And then I can also add BT Sport, to which I'm entitled and not able to get because BT's systems are rubbish.
I'd thought about simply cancelling my existing direct debit and ordering a new broadband package, but I really need to keep my email address as I've had it for years and I use it for business.
I've seen that there are lovely mods on this forum who can help, so I'm hoping one can come to my rescue before I pull all my hair out – I've got nowhere so far and it's been more than 6 weeks since my intial contact with BT.
Apologies for the length of this message!
    Many Thanks,
    Justine
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello again
Can anybody tell me how long it normally takes for the mods to reply to a contact form please?  I submitted an enquiry via RobbieMacs's profile link on 18 September and have not yet received a reply or acknowledgement.  Does it normally take a few days to hear back from them?
My problem has also worsened.  As I mentioned above, someone has been tinkering with my account because last week I was moved without warning from BT Yahoo Anytime plus service to BT Total Broadband Option 1, without being informed.  Then on Friday I received a 'Welcome to BT Broadband' email (I've had BT Broadband for nearly 10 years!), and last night I for the first time ever in nearly 10 years I received a usage warning.
So, not only has my account been moved without telling me, but I've been moved from an unlimited service to a capped service (for the same price) and I'm close to reaching my limiit after a few days usage.
But, despite the behind-the-scenes tinkering, my internet product still hasn't been merged with MyBT account so I cannot access it online to upgrade to an unlimited package, and I cannot call them as they will just tell me they have no record of me having broadband with them (I've been told this too many times over the last few weeks and it drives me crazy everytime - it's as if they think I'm making it up!).
I'm so close to jumping ship to Virgin, and I think if I start incurring extra usage charges because I've been moved on to a product I currently have no control over, it may well be the last straw!
    Thanks,
    Justine

Sorry, but I'm going to question this again. The only way a BTinternet user can have a flickr pro account is by the association with their Broadband email address (either primary or sub account). Using any other email address (e.g. payg) will get the user a very limited Flickr account.
Unless the primary email address already in use by Stuart is converted to a sub account, then it is likely to cause problems and effectively stop them being a pro user.
The link you quoted has nothing to do with altering the user's Flickr status which is actually in question here.
Now - I am not saying that you are wrong, to me it just doesn't add up with the info I am aware about with regard Flickr pro accounts.

I have been with BT Broadband for many years and on Bt Total broadband option 3,  8Mb max. [ Was on option 4 previously. ]
I have now received a " You are cordially invitation to join Bt Total Broadband " email with some of the options I already get plus an enhanced speed up to 20Mb.
I am confused. Is this just a marketing email aimed at everybody irrespective of whether or not  they are already in contract or is it some strange way of upgrading existing customers to a 20Mb service.

Their database details for users' actual existing product must be wildly out of date. There is actually no reason to have sent this same email to everyone. If they wish to market a product the user hasn't got, then that's different. This is effectively junk email - and along with the IMHO silly subject title, looks even more ridiculous. Who uses "cordially" these days ? It looks like a Thesaurus was used to generate it .....

why does my email account keep telling me my username or password is incorrect when it isn't?

Sky email is provided by Google now. Have you tried logging in via webmail on a desktop computer? Occasionally Google asks you to verify your account by entering a CAPTCHA which can't be done in a dedicated email client.
If that doesn't help, try removing and then re-setting up the account, following the directions here:

  • Email nolonger working

I am helping my mother inlaw who is having problems with her email which nolonger works. She remembers receiving an email from Yahoo/BT requesting money to keep her account otherwise the account would be suspended. Thinking this was a phising scam we ignored it. Sure enough sometime later the email account has stopped working. We have not changed any settings. The error messages are:

She is Broadband option 3 customer and has not subscribed to any premium email services. I would appreciate some help trying to resolve this matter as she would like to keep her email address.

I can assure you right now that you were correct in that IS a phishing scam. Broadband email accounts are included in the service.. No extra dosh required.
Unfortunately it does sound like her account has been hijacked. Can you login at BT Yahoo mail: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.intl=uk&.partner=bt-1&.done=http%3a//bt.yahoo.com/mail

  • Additional BT email address ?? any ideas ?

I've got a current BT Broadband email address with an ending @btinternet.com, how do I go about creating one for the other members of my family ? ie [email protected] in addition to my own ? Iis this something I can do within in mail or would I need to contact BT ?

First you need to contact BT - you may get details on their web page - to ask for addresses [email protected], [email protected] etc. Then set up Apple Mail with the necessary details. If you are sharing a machine, it is best to have separate user account for each of you, and set up mail with the personal email address in each of the accounts.
