You're passing a Point2D.Double to a method that's expecting a Shape. Stop doing that.

New Apple TV = No Hard Drive = Bumming!

I am really thrilled by the lower price, and size profile. It looks awesome. I also love the fact that it will stream from Netflix without needing a Wii or Play Station or other peripheral. However, there are a few things I question.
I am bumming that there is no built in storage of any kind. One of best features of our existing Apple TV's (we have them in 3 rooms) is the ability to put various photo files we've created directly onto the hard drive. We love having the pictures scrolling to music when when we have company and parties. I don't want to have to fire up the computer and iTunes each and every time I want to do that. It was also nice to have certain music and few of the kids movies on there that we could listen to or watch without having to have the computer running.
My thought around this is that it would be nice if the USB port allowed use of a thumb drive. You can get 16GB+ fairly cheap (I have a 64GB) that would be cool to load up and do what I mentioned above. Maybe they are working on something like this?
Although I realize everything is evolving, I hope there is some kind of update allowing streaming Netflixs, etc. to existing Apple TV's. They are perfectly good and it would be a shame for them to become outdated simply over a few hardware revisions. I know that had I bought one of the "old" models here in the last 6 months I'd be none to happy.

i don't think it's a matter of Apple not caring.. i think they do care and wanted to simplify the product for a majority of users (you can't please everyone). it's just that syncing is buggie, slow and confusing for many, many users.. i'd guess that over half of the posts on this appleTV forum are by people who are having trouble with syncing in some way or form.. i agree that the streaming model is not that great if all you have is a laptop, but if you have a desktop it makes WAY more sense to stream. streaming means you basically have no limits whatsoever on storage size.. if you put a hard drive in appleTV, no matter what size it is.. there will be lots of people it will be too small for (i have ~2TB of media to store).. then even if you want to enable to USB port to add storage you have to consider a backup strategy so people don't lose all their data in case of a HDD failure.. it's a big complicated mess, that's just not worth it in the end.. so they moved to a pure streaming model.. their customer surveys apparently show that most people don't want or need syncing.. so in an effort to simplify the product in use and in the minds of users appleTV is now streaming only.
i think for people with a laptop the best thing would be to just get a cheap-free computer.. can likely get one for free that someone is throwing away.. it can be really junky.. it just needs to run iTunes.. add drives to it an use that to stream to appleTV.

Bummed with iMovie '09

I just want to say how bummed I am with the new iMovie. I recently
got a shiny new MacBook Pro (thanks, work) and all's good except for this new version of iMovie. The old one was just so intuitive - you could see your clips in one, obviously laid-out timeline. You could see the audio level line and create your own custom fade-outs according to picture. Sure, I bet iMovie '09 has way better functions but functionality is a whole different issue - one that Apple usually gets right but sadly didn't in this case. Seriously bummed. Is it just me? Do I fear change and should I just get over it?

It's not just you: in an attempt to simplify iMovie and speed "production" I think Apple certainly "over-achieved" with the introduction of iMovie 08 -and swung back to more usability with '09. But as you point out: the visual interface of iMovie HD is more complex but also more versatile in that it allows for finer editing of sound tracks. I really! loved being able to fade background music in and out in coordination with my voice-over narrations. I see no way of doing the same thing with iMovie '09 (i.e, iMovie 8.x).
I also liked it that iMovie HD has sound filtration to moderate extraneous sounds (like traffic noise) but iMovie 09 does not have this, as far as I can see. Nor does '09' seem to have tint, brightness, contrast or desaturation controls. I've started using "old" QuickTime Pro (v. 7.6) AV controls for "pre-processing" clips before using either iMovie HD or 09.
Yet, I also love the "shake removal" feature in iMove 09. So what I've done is to keep iMovie HD for more post-processing of clips and sound tracks while using iMovie 09 just to pass the clips through shake removal.
I do agree with others on this thread that one can get used to handling some of the other differences in iMovie 09. That applies at least to snipping off unwanted bits by selecting and then cutting.
So it seems to be a mixed bag with tradeoffs. I hope some of my workarounds (above) may help you.

I have paid for this service for a year and it never worked on my computer. I just renewed and it finally converted the file but it will not let me edit it. I join you in being bummed. Either I get help with this or I am asking for a 2 year refund. My intention was to be able to edit a pdf in MS Word.

Got my new iMac in today (20" 2.4Ghz, 1GB ram). Get it set up on it's desk and turn it on.... no video !!!!! It made the start up chime and everything but no video. So I called apple tech support and to make a long story short spent 2 HOURS on the phone with the "basic" tech as he read me troubleshooting techniques from his computer. Finally he sent me to the Advanced Tech Support and in 5 mins he said he'd escalate it to the next department to get a replacement to me since it didn't work out of the box.
So yeah i'm bummed my new iMac is DOA. Also kinda upset that it took the regular tech guy 2 hours to transfer me. It was try this... ok hold on lemme check.... over and over again. This is my first mac so I really don't have a whole lot of troubleshooting to go on, but the display never even flickered.
Yes the computer comes on, it chimes, it beeps when I hit try to adjust the brightness and it asks me what language I want to set it up in.
Oh well, have to wait another week.

Were the things the tech recommended things that you had/would have tried yourself? If so, I recommend that if you have a similar problem that requires a call to Apple, try anything and everything yourself first. Then when you've established that you've not f-ed anything up, and the unit is in fact DOA, call Apple and say "yes, I've tried that, yes, I've tried that" and you might be able to skip a lot of that time on the phone.
My sister bought a refurb MacBook Pro with a keyboard that didn't work. Rather than call right away, we spent an hour fiddling with it, trying everything we knew they'd ask on the phone. As a result, she spent 15 minutes on the phone, and had a box overnighted to her to return the unit. She got it back 2 days later, fully working.
It's definitely ironic that your first Apple doesn't exhibit life, let alone stability. But remember, Apple's pinnacle of stability is its OS - the hardware parts will fail much sooner than the OS will (whereas with a PC, Windows is in a desperate race not to crash before the parts fail, haha)! Hope it works out quickly for you.

I have a slide/show interlaced with some video clips.
I have Mac OS X 10.8.5
3.4 Ghz, 32 GB ram
Profject settings : HD1080i, 29.97 frames per second
Fileds, upper filed first
Capture Fomat HDV
Video Render : Maximum bit dpth and Oprimize stills checked
Image sizes in project: 3264 x 4928, Filke size 8.5mb
Movies are .mov, 720 x 480, 29.97 frame rate
Overall project is about 5 minutes long
I read through some posts, and just totally confused and bummed right now. My movie seems to play fine on the MAC until I burn it, with others, on a DVD. (I create seperate movies and then combine into a DVD with chapters). Each movie is about 1.2 gB , but when they are all added to one project and set to burn, it says it only needs 1.5GB of space (1/4 of whats expected)
Is ther anything I can do to not make my DVD look like a 5th grade project. My pictures alone are so crsip and beautiful, and just get trashed with the DVD creation.

I just deleted what I had written previously in this particular space. I had a misread on what you did (SD) and what you plan to do (HD).
The suggested workflow is going to change in view of the different source, the .m2ts files. Are these 1920 x 1080 interlaced or progressive @ 29.97 frames per second?
If 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second, then the project preset should be set for
NTSC
AVCHD
Full HD1080i30
If 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second, then the project preset should be set for
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
When you go to resize your photos, resize them to 1920 x 1080 16:9.
Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD. That is going to be 720 x 480 16:9.

Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD disc (DVD) with preset = H.264 1920 x 1080i NTSC Dolby (more later on that)
The typical outcome is AVCHD DVD cannot be played on DVD player, whereas the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc can.
However, a recent report by a Premiere Elements user with a $2000 Panasonic DVD Recorder/Player seems to suggest that at least she could playback AVCHD DVD on that player which is not a Blu-ray player. More on that another time.

Bummed UK pre-orders on 6/17 shipping faster than US orders (MINE) on 6/16

Super bummed that Apple is sending out units to people who ordered a full 24 hours after I did. I have been checking hourly only to see the dreaded "Not Yet Shipped" and at the same time I see posts from lucky UK persons who's iPhones have. I hope Apple is going to get these phones to us earlier than JUNE 15-19! P.S. where are all the phones from the canceled pre-orders going? I have seen a ton of postings from people who were able to walk in at Apple and AT&T stores get an iPhone and cancel their order!

Bummed about FCS3 or just stupid?

I am so bummed about my upgrade to FCS3....unless I'm just doing something wrong.
I have a clean install of FCS3 on new Mac Pro, Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 2.26 GHz.
No LiveType.
After reading tons of posts I'm learning that a custom install of LT will do the trick unless you have FCStudio 1 with FCP 5.0 (rather than 5.1) which is not compatible with the Intel Macs.
Please tell me I'm misunderstanding this and this is not the reason I've been unsuccessful so far with the custom install. I'm using LT 2.0 discs from FCP 5.0 and LT crashes after opening. I see the files I've installed but can't seem to use the program.
Second question: if I'm SOL w/ LT would I at least be able to access the LT backgrounds, lower thirds and various fun graphic elements for use independent of LT program.

Thanks for your response. I have not found Motion to have the same ease of use as LT when on deadline. I also have not found all the LT goodies in Motion either. For instance, where are the backgrounds, lower thirds, graphic elements? When in a hurry, these have been life-savers and I really hate to lose them.

Material to material transfer if bum is diff

Can i do material to material transfer if the base unit of measure is diff. if suppose one bum is in each and other is in kg. i have maintain in both the material the alt unit of mea. say 1 kg = 1 each. but still i cant transfer the material . pls help.

You need to create a materail "Scrap Drum" with UNBW material type. Now add this material with -Ve quantity in the "Goods Movement" screen during confirmation. This would help you to recieve this scrap drum as byproduct, and without any value.
You can Issue the same material for production of new. May be what you can do is to maintain this material as "Alternate Group" in BOM item level details along with raw material used for making drum. The important thing to be noted here is that the strategy should be "2" with usage probablity as "100%", so that system will first propose scrap drum for Issue.

I probably overestimated RHEL/OEL-5.3 capability to "compete in Music Showbiz" as a digital studio workstation OS. Seems that "very old" alsa kernel drivers (1.0.17), compiled with actual kernel, don't like Audigy cards when it comes to MIDI interface, despite the fact the audio is perfect. Although I am still not sure nothing could be done as a workaround in order to get MIDI worked on OEL-5.3, the fact is that SB Audigy MIDI works like Roland Synth, sounding amazingly, if the kernel 2.6.18-128.1.1.0.1.el5 is recompiled with the actual alsa driver version 1.0.19 (modules snd-emu10k1, snd-emu10k1-synth, etc).
It's interesting that overall device and loaded-modules schema's picture is the same as with old alsa (original kernel). That's why I still think something could be done, at least as workaround, to get MIDI worked with original OEL-5.3 kernel.

your scenario has been tested and it's working fine. It has to work in QA32 as I mentoned above
Pls cross check and make sure that the alt unit of measure is maintained in both the materials
Product A - BUM is EA and alt unit of meausre is KG
Product B- BUM is KG and alt unit of meausure is EA

After updating my itunes to the latest software, my iphone is not recognized in itunes. Normally, when i plug my phone in to be synced i would get two bell-like noises that confirmed my phone was being charged/synced, now i get 3 monotone "bum bum bum"s.

If the hard rest isn't working then it sounds like its not going to turn on. Accidently damage isn't covered in you limited hard ware warranty. The iPhone 4 and below is 149$ to replace and iPhone 4s is 199$

Just bought my iphone 5s. The guy in the store sold me a Mophie juice pack plus but it is not charging my phone...message is that the device is not certified and may not work reliably with this phone. Is it the wrong product for my phone (5s)?
