Business group structure in 11.5.10.2
Hi all,
I am using Vision demo for 11.5.10.2. Is there any feature where we can outline business group structure ? I think it is available in DashBoard. However, I could not be able to find it out.
TIA.
dba.apps.
Login to your ebusiness suite and run the oracle diagnostics test 'Organization Structure'
This would give you details about organization structure like business group definitions, GRE/Legal Entity accounting details etc.

Multiple Cost Allocation Structures in Single Business Group
We are curently looking at solution design of creating multiple Cost
allocation flexfield in single business group environment.
Purpose :
Based on organization structure (18 companies) , the finance
consultants proposed multiple COA structures with different
valuesets , wherein values sets will be specific to the companies .
This was suggested inorder to aviod tedious job of defining
validations and post production support.
This has impact on payroll solution design wrt to cost allocation FF ,
where in we have to define multiple structures to map to Accounting
FFs.
Woudl like to check if oracle payroll supports this kind of setups.
Note :The implementation is for UAE localization.
Rgds/LavanyaIf Finance System has multiple COA structures with different valuesets , wherein values sets will be specific to the companies then they will seperating cosing on Various OU Level.
As my understanding, you have to create multiple Business Group as per multiple COA structures .

Hi All,
In R12.1.3, Which profile option has higher precedence in MOAC structure.
If i set the HR:Cross Business Group to NO at resp level and MO: Security Profile, which is associated to Global Security Profile which has two OUs of two different BGs.
For example:
I have BG1 - OU1
BG2 - OU2
Case 1:
Global Security Profile - XXGSP has both OU1(BG1) and OU2(BG2) associated.
HR:Cross Business Group - NO
HR:Cross Business Group - BG1
In Purchasing Responsibility, what could be the behavior when i create PO?. Will it show both OU1 and OU2? or OU1?
Case 2:
Global Security Profile - XXGSP has both OU1(BG1) and OU2(BG2) associated.
HR:Cross Business Group - Yes
HR:Cross Business Group - BG1
In Purchasing Responsibility, what could be the behavior when i create PO?. Will it show both OU1 and OU2? or OU1?
Case 3:
Global Security Profile - XXGSP has both OU1(BG1) associated.
HR:Cross Business Group - NO
HR:Cross Business Group - BG2
In Purchasing Responsibility, what could be the behavior when i create PO?. Will it show both OU1 and OU2? or OU1?
Case 4:
Global Security Profile - XXGSP has both OU1(BG2) associated.
HR:Cross Business Group - Yes
HR:Cross Business Group - BG1
In Purchasing Responsibility, what could be the behavior when i create PO?. Will it show both OU1 and OU2? or OU2?

Person DFF Context Value based on 2 criteria (Business Group and Emp Type)?
Hello,
We're implementing HR module into multiple business groups.
I need to define context value for DFF "Additional Personal Details" based on 2 criteria Business Group ID and Employee Type
Any idea how to do it?
Thank you
ElieHello Elie,
I am not sure on it,However have you tried creating a context with combination of Business Group and Person Type using merging,
business_group_id || "_"|| person_type_id And structures would be something like 80_2112 Business Group id = 80 and Person Type id=2112.
It may resolve your issue if this works out.

Multiple Business Group Setting in R12
Hi
I have Created a multi BG structure where two business groups(UK&US) representing two different countries report to a single BG(IND) of other country. Both the BGs(UK&US) are having individual Org Hierarchies in respective responsibilities. While subordinating these BGs to main BG(IND) in Global Hierarchy, is it mandatory that we have to difine the entire structure(org hierarchy) for each BG? Instead, can we attach the org hierarchies that are previously defined for each BG to the hierarchy of main BG(IND).
If any one help me in setting up this multiple BG structure, It will be very useful.

do you set deletion flag to your location master ? If not, please set deletion flag at first, then please delete your location by using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS .
To set deletion flag to your location, please perform following.
1. Open transaction /n/sapapo/loc3
2. From the menu, select "deletion flag".
(the location should be de-assigned from related data like product, model)
3. delete your location by using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS .
And if you have same location or same location product, I recommend you to add some kind of information to your location and product by using CIF user exit.
Please take a look at my comment in following thread.

Multiple Business groups???
Hi,
I am having very basic question in my mind.
Why do we need to have multiple business groups if the company is working only in US and runnig same set of books?
Or what is the factor which decides definition of multiple business groups?
This question might sounds to be very basic but I am not able to find answer for it.
Regards,
SohamSoham,
The current best practice configuration model is to use business groups only as legislative containers representing countries, and not to appear as a management reporting structure in the organization hierarchy.

Single and Multiple Business Groups; page 2-14
However, there are reasons for setting up multiple Business Groups in the same
installation, such as the following:
You want to have a copy of your live system with example records for training or
testing purposes.
You are a holding company or a corporation with a number of subsidiary
companies. Each subsidiary has its own structures, employees, and compensation and benefit policies. If your subsidiaries are in different countries you also have to
deal with local legislative requirements.
You are acquiring a company or merging with another company, and you want to
maintain separate structures and compensation and benefits during the transition
process.

To Define Business group in HRMS
Hi,
I am new to HRMS module.
I like to know how to create a Business group
If any one could share the "Oracle HRMS-The fundamantals" guide that would help me a lot
Regards
Ramesh Kumar SHi,
Follow the steps below:
1. Logon to HRMS Responsibility
2. Navigate to Work structures => Organization => Description
a. Enter a Business Group Name
b. Select the Type fi you want (But there is no significance for Org type- this is only for reporting purpose)
c. Select the Location from LOV (Location Addres willbe displayed automatically)
d. By default 'Internal' will be selected. Save the record
e. Select 'Business Group' from LOV under Organization classification region.
f. Select 'Enabled' check box. Save the record.
g. Select 'Others' and select 'Business Group Info' from LOV
h. Provide the appropriate info for business group info.
i. Select 'HR Organization' classification if you want to assign any employees for this organization. save the record.
Now assign this BG to profile values as follows:
Setting the profile to a value of 'User' as opposed to 'Payroll & User' will restrict the Inventory user from accessing any Payroll information if Oracle Payroll is installed.
· HR: Business Group = {the users Business Group name}
This points the responsibility to the appropriate Business Group. When multiple Business Groups are defined, you must associate each responsibility with one and only one Business Group. A responsibility can not see organization data from more than one Business Group.
Hope this helps you to understand.

How to setup Business Group with Global Legislation?
Hi All,
We are exploring possibility of creating International Business Group with no Legislation Code for our client. The client has operations in multiple geographies.
I found following document in Metalink
How an International Business Group be created with no Legislation Code? [Doc ID 851711.1] It mentions "Global legislation must be installed in order to set up a Global Business Group. The business group is created just like any other, but with Global legislation selected. You will need to use Global responsibilities to access it."
When we tried to create a business group with Legislation Code as 'Global" we did not find any such Legislation Code in dropdown of *Business Group Info classification.
Has anybody implemented Global Legislation before? Any information on Setup Steps, Challenges faced, bugs and issues faced with other modules especially OTL would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Amit
Edited by: user10450466 on Jan 22, 2010 12:23 AMI wasn't aware there's any such thing as 'Global Legislation' in HRMS and I think the Metalink Note you mention is misleading. There are multiple concepts here being mixed up.
hrglobal and Data Installer
Oracle deliver legislative seed data through hrglobal and Data Installer. When a DBA runs this they pick the legislations they wish to install. That includes legislations such as US, GB and all legislations where Oracle HRMS deliver seed data (Fast Formulas, balances, etc). One of the options here is 'Global', which ensures that common seed data used across multiple legislations is installed. This process does not create new legislations - it just creates the seed data used by those legislations. 'Global' is not a legislation - it just means that the relevant seed data (Fast Formula, balances, etc) is typically delivered without the legislation_code column being populated.
Business Groups and Legislations
A Business Group is intrinsically tied to a Legislation Code - they have a one-to-one relationship. When you define a Business Group you have to pick a Legislation and that list of Legislations comes from fnd_territories_vl. The list in fnd_territories_vl has nothing to do with hrglobal or Data Installer. There is no 'global' territory.
International HR & Payroll
If you are implementing HRMS in a country where Oracle HRMS do not deliver any specific legislative seed data or functionality (ie, the legislation isn't listed in Data Installer) you have the option of using International HR & Payroll. This allows you to install generic seed data into the legislation of your choice, which is again a list from fnd_territories_vl. Again, there's no concept of 'global' legislation. Information on that is available here:
International HR and Payroll [ID 261452.1]
International Implementations
Customers, like yours, who are rolling out Oracle HRMS to multiple countries have a big choice to make: single or multi Business Group. If you opt for one Business Group you create employees in multiple countries all within the same Business Group. That Business Group is tied to just one of those country's legislation codes - which you go for is up to you but that's generally the Legislation Code of the International HQ. The problem with this approach is that you can't leverage the legislative-specific functionality for each of the other countries.
If you opt for multi-Business Group you typically define one Business Group for each country so that you leverage the legislative-specific functionality for each country. This is generally more popular but doesn't suit everyone: you can have problems with employees transferring from one country to another, etc.
Global Structures
Oracle HRMS has forced you to tie a Business Group to a legislation code for many years. As mentioned above, this causes a number of problems. To mitigate those, Oracle have delivered a number of enhancements that help you model global businesses:
1. Global Organization Hierarchies
2. Global Security Profiles
3. Global Overseas Deployment functionality (nickname GOD/GOLD)
4. Cross Business Group profile option
5. etc
I hope that helps. -
Error when trying to save the business group information for a newly created business group , it says a duplicate record
Query all your organizations with a classification of "Business Group".
US HRMS Manager: Work Structures > Organization > Description
Select the existing BG you wish to update. Or create a new organization, classify it as a BG and add the required "other" information.
You may need to query the organization table and look at your BG IDs. I suspect you were trying to create an entity that already existed instead of selecting and updating it.

Global Business Group, enrollment
Hi All
I am using global business group, lets consider two Business groups BG1 and BG2.
I made BG1 as global BG and created catalog structure in it. Now Training Admin of BG2(Employee from BG2) using Admin responsibility should see complete catalog but learners from BG2 only, how can I achieve that? currently Admin can see all the employees(of both BG1 and BG2). Any thoughts on how can I restrict employee list and organization list and still have single global catalog structure?
In addition: for Admin responsibility Global BG is set as BG1, HR:BG is set as BG2. still its not putting restriction.

Business Groups and Legal Entities
Hello All,
Can any one please explain abt Business groups, legal entities, organizations (flow) with an example. While quering the apps tables i see column called org_id.
But when queried genal ledger tables there is no such org_id ? why?
Kind Regards,
KumarHi
Org Structure that u can see like this
Business Group--> Set of Books-->Legar Entity--> OU--> Inv Org
BG: It segregates Human Resource data such as employee
SOB: It is financial entity which define a chart of account, Fuctional Currency and Accounting Calendar (it means it dealt wiht 3 C's-Currency/Calandar/Chart of a/c)
LE: Each OU must point to a legal entity that has its own set of set ups data and transaction table, each OU has its own Payables,Receivable, Cash management, OM and Purchansing. And it dealt with Local Tax authorities.
OU: Each Inv org must point to OU. and Inv org has its own bill of materials,WIP and MRP.
Inv Org: Where you have manufacturing plants and labs to which it assigned.
2. Basically org_id define the OU, whereas organization_id is used for Inventory org.
Organization_id store in table hr_organization units and orgid is stored in table a
x_y_all (eg. ap_invoices_all)
Here note "_all " every table whose name ends with all stores date that is segregated by OU (orgid)
for eg. ap_invoices is basically the veiw of ap_invoices_all where dat is segregated by org_id. for this we gendrally use an API to fetch data in ap_invoices.
Hope this little clear to you now.

Business Groups and GL Responsibilities
We are performing a fresh install that will be utilizing Oracle HR and will require 3 business groups, multiple LE's, and multiple ledgers for different countries. I created a new BG, and LE,SOB ETC...., but my operating unit is still under old BG.
CAN anyone help me out , how to c new BGHi,
Once you define the Business Group, you have to assign the Business Group to system profile values.
Profile values are:
1. HR: Business Group
2. HR: Security Profile
Then come back to HRMS responsibility and define the Operating unit. Now you can see your Operating Unit under your BG.
Please go through the 'Multi-Org Structure' document to get the clear idea about it.

New Business Group in HR 11.5.7 FP.G.
New Business Group in HR 11.5.7 FP.G.
Hi all,
We have Oracle HR 11.5.7 (Family Pack G), SSHR 5.2, WorkFlow 2.6.0.
We currently have two different Business Groups for Country A (Main Banking Operations) and Country B (Banking Operations Abroad). The Human Resources Dept wants to create a New Business Group to hold information for an Insurance Company that belongs to the Group (base at Country A) but whose employees'(currently they are not held in Oracle HR) have different collective agreements and reporting structures. Also users of Insurance not to be able to see data from banking Operations, but some users in banking to be able to see all data.
Firstly, can anyone help us regarding the pros/flexibility and cons/limitations of creating a New Business Group for the purpose described above?
From the way I see it if we create a New Business Group we will have more overhead even if the Flexfield Structures will remain the same.If we use the existing Country A BG to hold this info we will have to change all responsibilities/users/ profiles to restrict access based on less clearly defined lines as opposed to a New BG.
If we will proceed with the creation of a New Business Group (Users requested for a new BG to be created) does anyone knows or have an implementation/priority step guide/plan for a new BG not limited just to the creation of the Organization details?
Does anyone have an indication as to the average time required to setup a new BG as described above with all related information completed(security/ responsibilities/Organizations/positions/jobs/locations/grades/ elements/element links/special info/etc)?
Lastly, we recently setup SSHR 5.2 for the purposes of Online Appraisal System for the BG of Country A-Main Banking Opreations. Is there any impact that we have to consider, regarding the new BG?
I hope someone can give me some feedback!
Thanking you in advance for your much appreciated help.
Best regards,
ElenaDear 'thierry' and 'HCMgaclark'
Thanks a lot for your replies.
In case I convince Key Business users to use the existing BG is there an easy way to exclude these new employees from showing in all reporting unless we want to display them?
One reason that will cause us difficulties to do that is the fact that we are not using the Position/Organization Hierachies of the HR. instead we use an additional Organization Flexfield to hold a code that represents our organizational structure due to our Payroll links.
We use Discoverer 4.1.41.05 for reporting purposes. We created our own EUL and have 2 BUsiness Areas, one for each BG.Users connect as Super Users (Responsibility). If we add these employees in the existing BG, what worries me is that we have to specifically exclude from each report the new employees and structures while in some cases a user should be able to see both.
is there an easy way out of these problems?
If we eventually decide to use a separate BG does anyone knows or have an implementation/priority step guide/plan for a new BG not limited just to the creation of the Organization details?
Thanks a lot for your time and help.
Best regards,
Elena
