Business Process Simulation, including Financial Reporting

I currently use BPI-I in my Systems class.  I am looking for another simulation which still employs Business Pricess, but includes a more robust financial reporting part.  Is anyone aware of an existing simulation.  Thank you.
Susie Wright

Hello Dirk,
I am not sure if there is a data source for the financial reporting structure.
You can check help center document : Overview of Data Sources in SAP Business By Design
for the list of all available data sources.

  • Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.2.1 admin documentation?

I'm very troubled with the way how Oracle sets up its website and naming. Sorry for venting a bit
But it's absolutely frustrating when people stumble upon this section
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/fusion-middleware/overview/index.html
and don't know where to look for a specific application.
Anyway, my question is, where is Financial Reporting Studio 11.1.2.1 admin guide located? which section?
I tried to google but no result.
    Thanks for reading.

    @Jeo123:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/performance-management/documentation/index.html
The first link you listed doesn't include Financial Reporting Studio. That's exactly my problem. Most clients I work with have Essbase, Planning, EPMA, and FRS. These are the 4 basic components of Hyperion system.
    @RaulRodriguez:
The reporting piece is under reporting and analysis:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/nav/portal_4.htm
Thanks.....I actually found that on Google. But unfortunately, I'm on 11.1.2.1. And Oracle's site doesn't have a section set up for 11.1.2.1 like they do for 11.1.2.2. And the problem I have actually goes back to using "Usage Tracking" and setting up through BI+ server that you suggested last time. Since you said that certain method can only be done that way on 11.1.2.1, so I was looking for that doc. Otherwise, I could've used 11.1.2.2 instead.
    Bummer.

  • Business Process and Sales process

    Hi Gurus,
Will somebody explain me the Difference between " Business Process and Sales Process"
    Thanks & Regards
    Srikanth

    Hi Srikant,
Sales process is related to only sales and Distribution which means from Sales to Billing, But in business process it includes other business aspects like accounting principles, etc, i.e it includes all processes of all the modules.
For SD point of view in interview your answer should be all SD scenarios.
    reward if it helps.

  • Can I submit one process to run many Financial Reports at once?

I've been asked by one of our HFM customers, about ways to submit 50 FR reports by one command. Best of the process can also be schedulled.
There is a function called “Batch Reports for Scheduling”. This function can run and refresh a report (built with Financial Reporting) and create a pdf file into a specified target folder.
The problem with it, is that each report is schedule by a seperate “Batch Reports for Scheduling” function. Since the customer has lots of reports (more than 50), they need to submit them one by one, specify for each one it's parameters values (Year and Period) so it's a time consuming process.
The customer would like to find an option that will simplify the process by doing all refresh at the same time.
We are looking for a command line that we could use by a batch (by using .bat for example). We need those commands:
    1. Connect to HFM
    2. Launch “Batched Reports for Scheduling” with right parameter
    3. Disconnect to HFM
I'd appreciate any idea that would help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Yoram

    Hi Yoram
There is a command line utility that you can use to run Financial Reporting batches. It is called ScheduleBatch.cmd and can be found in the 'bin' directory under BIPlus (I can't be more specific as it depends which version of FR you are running).
Take a look at the help attached in the section Scheduler Command Line Interface under the Administrative Tasks for Financial Reporting
    [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/fr_user/frameset.htm?launch.html]
These notes are labelled as v11 but this section equally applies to v9.3.1
I have not used this with HFM but I have uses a windows .bat file to launch multiple FR batches using this feature (against Essbase) and deliver reports to users out of working hours so that they are in their email inbox when they arrive at work.
    Hope this helps

  • Process chain with ABAP reports included

    Hello !
I need help regardin an issue.
I have a process chain with the processes:
    1) Start
    2) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
    3) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a first variant of the report
    4) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
    5) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a second variant of the report
    6) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
    7) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a third variant of the report
report that has a system message : has 3 variants
The reports work each individual, but in the chain , when I execute, I must see some system messages and there is nothing
I assigned for the processes the right reports, including the variants for the processes 3, 5, 7.
Do you have some clue? I can't imagine why they don't work in this process chain.
    Thank you.

    In RSPC transaction -
    create your process chain
To include ABAP program --- expand General Services --- Select ABAP program -
drag and drop it in right panel
    Create process variant -
provide program name and program variant(if exists)

    Dear Ameer,
    <b>ASAP Methodology</b>
Forward Media has adopted ASAP (Accelerated SAP) as its methodology of choice for SAP implementations, upgrades and module additions.
Our in-depth knowledge of ASAP allows us to customise and streamline ASAP to suit widely varying project requirements. For example - while ASAP was originally conceived as an implementation methodology, Forward Media has found ways to apply its strengths to the smaller tasks of SAP upgrades and new module additions. Innovations such as these have become part of standard and offically endorsed ASAP methodology.
Our involvement with the ASAP methodology began in 1996, when Forward Media Director Nadia Ward worked extensively with SAP America on the creation of the original ASAP methodology. Nadia led the technical component of the first commercial trial of ASAP in an implementation for CFS in New York - in the process contributing several operational templates to the ASAP toolkit.
    ASAP Phases
The ASAP methodology structures the project lifecycle into five phases which run sequentially from project start to project completion. These standard ASAP phases are:
    1.     Project Preparation
    2.     Business Blueprint
    3.     Realisation
    4.     Final Preparation
    5.     Go-Live and Support
Concurrently with these ASAP phases, we also run a series of continuous processes which cover the types of activities which, by their nature, transcend individual phase boundaries (eg: Quality Assurance) or which require activity throughout the project lifecycle (eg: Knowledge Transfer).
These continuous processes identified as necessary for most SAP projects:
    1.     Quality Assurance
    2.     Data Migration
    3.     Basis
    4.     Knowledge Transfer
    5.     Cutover Planning
    6.     Project Accelerators
Together, the ASAP phases and our continuous processes define the broad outline of our approach for SAP projects.
    Project Management Toolkit
Forward Media has a series of Project Management tools in addition to those sourced from ASAP that we make available to our clients. These include templates such as our:
    •     Project Plan Template (for SAP Implementations and Upgrades)
    •     Data Conversion Strategy
    •     Cutover Plan
    •     ABAP specifications
    •     Test Scripts
    •     Client Landscape
    •     Change Management Strategy
    •     Month End Schedule
    •     Issues Log
    •     Phase 1: Project Preparation
    •     Phase 2: Business Blueprint
    •     Phase 3: Realization
    •     Phase 4: Final Preparation
    •     Phase 5: Go Live & Support
    <b>Phase 1: Project Preparation</b>
In this phase of the ASAP Roadmap, decision-makers define clear project objectives and an efficient decision-making process. Here Project Organization and roles are defined and implementation scope is finalized.
    System landscape and Technical Requirement
    •      Infrastructure need (Hardware/interfaces): Available- QuickSizing Service: to be accessed via SAPNet
    •      System Landscape
    •      High level strategies for client
    •      Archiving strategy
    Issues Database:
Issues must be resolved before phase completion ot before beginning of the next phase. The issues can be
    •     Unanticipated tasks
    •     Normal tasks that can not be completed
    •     External factors that need to be dealt with.
Issues database allows the project team to enter, track and report on project issues.
    <b>Phase 2: Business Blueprint</b>
In this phase scope of the R/3 implementation is defined & Business Blueprint is created. Business Blueprint is a detailed documentation of company’s requirements.
Various tools are used in this phase.
    •     AcceleratedSAP Implementation Assistant
    •     Question & Answer Database (Q&Adb)
    •     Business Process Master List (BPML)
    •     R/3 Structure Modeler
    •     Business Navigator and external modeling tools
    <b>Project Management:</b>
Activities nagement:in this work package are:
    •     Conducting Status meeting for project team
    •     Conducting steering committee meetings
    •     General project management
    •     Addressing organizational issues relating to organizational change management.
    Other activities include:
    •     Project Team Training
    •     Developing the System Environment
    •     Defining Organizational Structure
    •     Defining the Business processes
R/3 reference model can be used for
    •     Comparing the standard functionality with your companies own organizational requirements
    •     Creating documentation for the conceptual design
    •     Optimizing business processes
    •     Training the project team and users
    •     Writing user documentation
Question and Answer Database can be used to determine
    •     The Baseline Scope
    •     Cycle Plan
    •     Integration test Plan
    <b>Phase 3: Realization</b>
The purpose of Phase 3 is to configure the R/3 system. The configuration is carries out in two steps; baseline configuration & Final configuration.
Business Process Master List (BPML) is created in phase 2 as a report from Q&A database. It is used to identify, plan, schedule and monitor the configuration and testing of all R/3 scenarios and processes within the scope of an implementation. BPML is a representation of the R/3 business and transactions that are contained within the scope of the project. BPML is feeds all business information to all subsequent worksheets.
    <b>Implementation Guide (IMG):</b>
It is the main tool for setting the parameters to configure or ‘Customize’ R/3 during the realization phase.   IMG reflect the chronological order in which the customizing activities are carried out.
The following aspects of configuration are also to be considered:
    •     Defining authorizations in the R/3 system
    •     Defining workflows
    •     Creating user documentation
    System Manager Procedures
    •     Developing system test plans
    •     Defining service level commitment
    •     Establishing system administration functions
    •     Setting up Quality Assurance environment
    •     Defining the design of the productive system
    •     Defining system management procedures for the productive system
    •     Setting up the productive environment
At the end of this phase, Project Manager must check the status of deliverables for completeness and accuracy. This internal quality check should be carried out in addition to an external, independent third party Quality Audit.
Preparation for end-user training needs to be gone through and approved at and of this phase.
    <b>Phase 4: Final Preparation</b>
The purpose of this phase is to complete the final preparation of the R/3 system for going live. This includes testing, user training, system management and cutover activities, to finalize your readiness to go live.
In this phase the R/3 system is handed over to individual departments for productive operation. This includes preparation of end-user documentation and training the end-users. The technical environment is installed on production system & is tested. Project managers prepare plans for going live, transfer of legacy data and support at early stages.
End-user training is a critical activity for success of the project. InfoDB may be used to plan for the User Training activities. Computer Center Management System (CCMS) must be set at this time. Simulation of productive operation system & testing the same is of great important.
The test plan contains the following activities
    •     Testing conversion procedures and programs.
    •     Testing interface programs
    •     Conducting volume & stress testing
    •     Conducting final user acceptance testing
    •     Developing a final go-live strategy.
The Computer Aided Test Tool (CATT) can be used to automate test sequences for key business processes.
Phase 4 also provides for the testing of the disaster recovery plan for the productive environment. Disaster downtimes are verified and details on de-escalation.
    <b>Phase 5: Go Live & Support</b>
This phase is concerned with supporting and optimizing the operative R/3 system.
    Following activities are carried out
    •     Production support facilities are defined.
    •     Validation of business processes and their configuration.
    •     Follow-up training for users
    •     Signoffs etc.
During phase 5, the first EarlyWatch session should be held, where experts from SAP analyze the system’s technical infrastructure. The aim is to ensure the system functions as smooth as possible.
Version upgrades should be planned whenever found necessary. AcceleratedSAP contains a continuous roadmap, with standard activities necessary after implementation. The tasks in that structure provide solutions for all known types of continuous change: Business changes, technology changes or changes in user community.

  • Create unit cost reports in Hyperion Financial Reporting

    Hi,
I have some doubts regarding the creation of "per unit" reports in Hyperion Financial Reporting. In the business model we have:
    - different cost and revenue groups (identified by accounts dimension)
    - different business channels (identified by business channel dimension)
    - units different for each business channel (identified by accounts dimension and by currency dimension)
What would be the most efficient way to easily construct per unit reporting? Reporting should be able to show data as:
(*in principle, the "$ per unit" column is the most important one. The other columns could be hidden without problem)
(**the main challenge is to be able to easily reflect per unit values calculated with different units, depending on the business channel and potentially other dimensions)
    More precisely, the questions are:
    1. What should be the dimensions structure? Units in separate dimension? Or inside accounts dimension and differentiate with currency dimension?
    2. The calculation of per unit amounts should be done within the reporting or should it be precalculated value?
2a. If within reporting - how to technically include this calculations? Show $ and units and then use the formula?
2b. If precalculated - how to solve the problem that the TOTAL per unit values are not the sum of per unit values for each Business channel separately (as each Business channel has its per unit calculated only with the units of this Business channel)? (please take into account that Business channel may not be the only dimension that changes the units to be used in per unit calculation - we can also have different units for different cost centers etc.)
    3. How to show $ and units separately, as in the example, if, when limiting a row by Revenue, for example, is making the units value for this row 0? How to overcome this?
Many thanks in advance for your help and best regards,
    Pawel

I came up with one concept of how to deal with this problem - let me know what you think. The idea is pictured in the image below:
The answers to the 3 questions using this solution would be:
    1. What should be the dimensions structure? Units in separate dimension? Or inside accounts dimension and differentiate with currency dimension?
Units would be a separate account in the "accounts" dimension. But also, units could be differentiated by the "currency" dimension.
    2. The calculation of per unit amounts should be done within the reporting or should it be precalculated value?
2a. If within reporting - how to technically include this calculations? Show $ and units and then use the formula?
Withing the reporting, as I have no solution to precalculate per unit values using so many different groups of units - if we want to have different per unit per each business channel or cost center etc. I understand we would need that many different precalculated "per unit" values, which would be a lot...
Regarding 2a, a simple formula would do (box C). However, for rows with auto totals, the formula would need to have priority over the autototals (box D) - how is that done? Is it possible and easy?
    3. How to show $ and units separately, as in the example, if, when limiting a row by Revenue, for example, is making the units value for this row 0? How to overcome this?
As we can differenciate units using both accounts and currency dimension, with the accounts placed in rows, the elements selected would always include the units (box A). Then, in the columns, using "currency" you would choose whether to show the cost and revenue accounts ($) or units (box B). Like this you would not get 0 in units, neither you would distort $ amounts.
What is your opinion? Best regards!

  • Does Financial Reporting Studio need to be uninstalled before patching?

    Hi Guys,
Moving forward on my patch plan, I am stuck again, this time with the ambiguity in the documentation. I am trying to apply the Financial Reporting Patch 13997553. While going through the documentation, I found two ambiguous statements. In step2, the doc says that I need to uninstall the FR studio (Doesnt say on which machine I need to uninstall). Later in step9, it says, on FR studio Machines, uninstall the FR studio.
As per my assumption, in step2, I have to uninstall it from the Server and in Step9 I need to unistall it from my local machine. But the document never talked about re-installing the FR studio on server. What am I missing here?
    Help appreciated. Thanks!
Here's part of readme which confused me -

You will find that it is installed by going to the start menu - Oracle - Financial Reporting StudioSo if i got you right,
-I need to uninstall the FR studio from all the machines (including the server).
    -Apply the Patch.
    -Install FR studio back again
And this whole process has nothing to do with Financial Reporting Web App.
