CAD 8.x on UCCX 7.0 - Compatible?

I'm doing a UCCX upgrade for a customer from 7.0 to 8.x.  The customer wants to upgrade all of the agents before we upgrade the servers, so that the upgrade process will be that much smoother.  The question is, can I upgrade the CAD server (and agents) to 8.x and leave the rest of the UCCX system on 7.0?
Thanks,
Corey

Hi Corey,
Sorry, you can not.
Each UCCX version has its compatiable CAD version with it.
Everytime you launch the CAD\CSD\CDA it will check the version against the UCCX server and upgrade itslef if its in the lower version.
There is no option for you to upgrade your CAD clients to next release before upgrading UCCX.
The sequence is Upgarde UCCX first, run the CAD client configuaration tool, and when you launch the CAD\CSD\CDA they will automatically get upgraded.
Hope it helps.

  • CAD Client Configuration on UCCX 8 Question

I have a brand new install of UCCX 8.0.2 ES1 stand alone Premium Packaged System installed with CM version 7.1.3. I'm having issues getting the desktop monitor to work. CAD Supervisors keep getting the pop up error "Supervisor has failed to start device monitor on ..." when they try and monitor. Customer has shuttle boxes that we've tried replacing the NIC cards to a 3C905C-TX which I think is supported. Also validated the items below:
    - All services in UCCX are "in service"
    - Span to PC port is enabled on all agent/supervisor phones
    - Disabled the option to Advertise G.722 codec
    - Ran PostInstall on supervisor and agent PC and pointed Voip Monitor IP to their respective local NICs
I'm planning on rebooting the server when Call center closes but wanted to check and see if there's anything else I'm missing...

You have checked a few of the common issues that will cause this.  In addition please check the following; (other options may need to be checked and is dependent on using Desktop Based Recording or SPAN based)
    1. Run a Route Plan report on the UCCX DN and make sure that only one instance is shown.
Reason - Only one device can be associated with the UCCX DN or the system may look for an RTP stream with an incorrect MAC ID.
Exception - There is an option for HOT SEATs.  This is where several agents share an extension but this extension will still have to remain on a single  device.
In some cases, when Extension Mobility is set up and the agents are logged into Extension Mobility and the CAD, the Device Profile and the actual phone may appear in the Route Plan Report.
    2. Open the Desktop Administrator and ensure the Desktop Monitoring Option is selected for the appropriate agent.
Also check the selected VOIP Monitoring server.
    3. Have you checked the NIC Binding.  I have seen cases where the NIC binding order had another onboard NIC set as primary.  Ensure the NIC we are using for the capture is the primary in the NIC binding order. Disable any wireless NICs
    4. Disable the Windows Firewall in the services option of the desktops for the Agent and Supervisor.
    5. Disable any antivirus that you may have on the desktop.  This may indicate there is a port blocking issue with the application.  In some cases, we would need to add rules or exceptions for firewalls or applications not to block certain ports.
If these fail, download a common program for capturing traffic.  I prefer Wire Shark but a few are out there.  Once installed, place the agent on a call with the UCCX Extension, select the proper NIC and see if there is an RTP stream present in the capture.  If there is, then the phone is working properly and the RTP stream is being delivered to the Desktop.  If not, then we would look on the phone side to determine what the issue may be.
Let me know if these help by either rating the post or replying with any additional issues.
    Thanks,

  • UCCX 8.0 CAD: Can you disable auto update? Error: "unable to download file" Could not open request.

    I have a UCCX 8.0 (2) Installed.
Users here have limited access via proxy. Now everytime i try to run the CAD or CSD, i get the error:
"unable to download file" Could not open request.
It seems to want to install or check for an update.
The work around i have found is to go to the CAD directory and change the update.exe filename
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CAD\bin\update.exe
i dont want to have to do this for every user as i possibly want the update.
Is there a way to allow or bypass proxy on CAD?
    Regards
    J

I had this problem before - to resolve it I disabled the proxy in internet explorer settings.
You'll need to make sure the CAD version matches your UCCX server version. Otherwise you may run in to issues.

  • CAD Software Update location on UCCX 8

    Hello,
Does anyone know the location of the CAD softare update on UCCX 8?  On version 7 I was able to naviagate to the directory that had the update and push it manually.  We've got restrictions in place that prevent the agents from upgrading the software, they don't have the correct privledges.  I haven't been able to find the location of the update on 8.
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Hi Jonathan,
I know its pretty late for the reply, but I was just browsing and thought I will reply.
In 8.5, you got the 404 error since the Service Release file does not exist.
    From the root:

  • UCCX CAD Unable to dialout using dialpad

    Hello,
We are facing a issue, agents are unable to dial out using the CAD dial pad.
    UCCX version is 8.5.
Their IPCC extension is in the second line of the IP communicator. Using the IP communicator IPCC extension they are able to make calls, but not using the CAD dial pad. All agents are facing this problem, what possibly is the cause of this ? how is the call flow when the the number is dialed from the dialpad ? Is any particular service is associated with it ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Reragds,
    Ajey Shetty

    Hello Ajey,
Can you post screen shots of the issue? And provide some more information about what numbers are failing? Do internal numbers work or does it only fail when dialing an outside line. Are you manually entering the number or are you using a prepopulated phone book.

  • CAD with UCCX and DN assigned to multiple phones

We are running CAD 6.6 with UCCX 7.0. Our agents do not connect through the back of the phone. Their CAD is runnin separately. Most of our agents have no problem controlling their desk phones from the CAD. However, a few users have multiple devices assigned to their end user. I have thus far been unable to determine how CAD determines which line instance (or phone) to control when making and receiving calls.
Example: Can anyone tell me how CAD determines which phone to take off hook when a user makes a call from CAD?
Example: Some users have a phone and a device profile. When they use CAD to make a call it takes their phone off-hook. If they then login to another phone using extension mobility CAD will take that phone off hook when making a new call, but not the original desk phone where the line permanently exists. Can anyone explain this behavior?
    Thanks,
    Preston

    Hi
Duplicate lines are tricky with any CTI app.
If you read the release notes for UCCX, you will see that shared lines and duplicated line appearances are unsupported configurations. The IPCC extension property of the user account is what determines which line is controlled, and this isn't device specific.

If your users need to be mobile, give them a single EM profile.
If they don't want EM, give them a static phone.

  • UCCX CAD developer customization?

I have a customer that is familiar with some of the capabilities of UCCE, and they were used to using the CTIOS toolkit to customize quite a bit of the agent's desktop experience.
However, now they're installing UCCX and they would like to make similar customizations there. An example is they set it up to do on demand recordings, then allow the agent to enter notes on the recording.
Is there any toolkit or SDK or something similar available for customizing CAD for use with UCCX?
    Thanks,
    Jim

The Cisco Contact Center Express Computer Telephony Integration Protocol (UCCXCTI) provides for Cisco partners to develop custom 3rd party agent and supervisor softphone applications similar to what is provided by the Cisco Agent Desktop (CAD). Applications using this TCP/IP socket based message protocol can receive event information for Unified CCX agents and calls and can provide agent and call control. In addiiton, applications can receive configuration information as well as statistics information on a realtime basis.

  • CCX Engine Shutdown - UCCX 802 on VMWare

    All,
Installing UCCX 802SU3 on VMWare. CUCM version is 8.5.1SU3. Checked compatibility matrix and these two are compatible.
I am using VMWare Server 2.0 as a Host. VM Server configured:
Red Hat Enterprise 4 (32 Bit)
    2 x CPU
    4 GM RAM
    2 x 146 GB HD
    SCSI Controller is LSI Logic
Install was successful. I used a temporary license that was working for a UCCX 802SU3 system on physical server (MCS 7845). Initial configuration was successful.
When in UCCX Serviceability page > Control Centre, following three services are SHUTDOWN:
    Cisco Unified CCX Engine
      Manager Manager
      Subsystem Manager
I tried to start CCX Engine, they went to starting --> Partial Service --> Shutdown. All other services are IN SERVICE.
I have tried Demo License and the same problem happened.
Anyone knows about this problem? If any of you successfully installed UCCX 802 on VMWare, I would like find out how your VM Server be configured.
    Thanks,
    Wenqian

    Wenqian,
CUCM nor UCCX are not compatible with VMWare Server, only VMWare ESXi 4.0+, so if this is a production environment you are running on unsupported platform.
I am not saying that it is your issue though for the service failure, your only to figure out what the issue is to look into UCCX logs, starting with MIVR logs. You can gather the logs by using RTMT application.

  • VoIP Monitor in UCCX Admin

    Hi,
We have made some changes in our environment such as CUCM upgrade etc and i have just come to configure two new agents in VoIP monitor and i get error reading from directory services.
We have updated the JTAPI client, rebooted the server etc and are now stumped.
Anyone got any ideas, we checked the logs and event viewers too.
    /Jon

    Jon,
The biggest thing I see is that your UCCX version (5.0(2)SR2 is not compatible with CUCM.  We only support CUCM 6.0(1)a.  You will need to downgrade your CUCM or upgrade your UCCX to be compatible.  UCCX 8.0(2)SU3 and UCCX 8.5(1)SU1 are both compatible.  The incompatilble nature of the CUCM to UCCX version is causing JTAPI not to be able to sync.  Resolving that willl resolve your issues. • Can we take UCCX7.0 Backup and to Restore on fresh install of UCCX8.5(1)

                       Hi there,
We are doing fresh install of UCCX8.5(1) on Virtual Server ESXi 4.1. Currently client is running UCCX 7.0 on physical servers not VM as well as Call Manager.  Can i backup the existing data including historic reporting and restore on UCCX8.5(1) as it is on ESXi 4.1 server. As PUT did not help as Call Manager is also on ESXi 4.1 virtual server, PUT did not give any option to point to new Call Manager.
Any easy way please send me step y step or detail doc. Thanks

    Hi Hafiz,
Backup and Restore works only when you maintain the sam ip address and the same version.
As part of the UCCX upgrade you can not point it to new CUCM ip.
But on the existing UCCX 7.x system you can perform the Change CUCM cluster operation to point it to new CUCM ip,
You can refer the section "Modifying Cluster Information from Unified CCX"  from page 71 onwards in the below link,
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_7_0/configuration/guide/uccx70ag.pdf
Make sure that the CUCM and UCCX versions are compatible to make the calls go through.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
Once this operation is successful you can do the UCCX upgrade using the windows to Linux upgrade method.
    Hope this helps.

  • UCCX 10 - running Finesse and CAD simulatenously

Cisco's documentation indicates that CAD and Finesse cannot be run at the same time and that one has to deploy/use either CAD or Finesse. However, the CAD service is never shut down when Finesse is activated and remains running. On my test server, I was able to have both, CAD and Finesse, running and have agents use both clients on the same server.
Is there any additional information that explains in more detail the impact of running CAD and/or Finesse and why they can't be run at the same time? Or if they are, what the side-effects and possible negative impacts?
After I have upgraded to UCCX 10, I would like to gradually switch users over to Finesse. But instead of forcing everyone to switch to Finesse at the same time, I would like to switch one department at a time so I can work out any issue with a small subset of users first. Does anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks.

    HI,
Pls see the below question and Answer from UCCX Chalk-Talk UCCX 10.
4:Since from UCCX 10 , we can only use either CAD or Finnesse at one time, whats the impact of changing this after some time in production, let say , i used CAD for 2 months and then i decided to move to Finesse, whats the impact ? or is it a smooth change as switching CUIC and HRC in previoius release ?
Ans.For the scenario you mentioned, there is absolutely no problem. The point to note is that the Finesse services are activated/deactivated but the CAD desktop services are ALWAYS running. The only condition to keep in mind is that you can use ONLY ONE type of agent desktop at any time. Also if Finesse is not used and CAD operations are used extensively, it is advisable to shutdown the Finesse service.

  • UCCX 8.5: CSQ Name Displayed in CAD Integrated Broswer?

    Cisco Forum:
Can UCCX 8.5 for the Cisco Agent Desktop (CAD) provide the CSQ Name in the Integrated Broswer portion of the CAD?  That is, the CAD can be used to pop a web link to agents on incoming calls.  While the CAD can show the CSQ Name by default, it does so in a reasonable small font amid other data.  Can some call script variable be set for the CSQ Name which would then be used to dynamically pop a unique web link on CAD Integrated Browser which would then display whatever is configured as a web link to display?
As an alternative, can agents using the CAD also have a IP Phone display of the CSQ Name.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions.
    Dan

Before you can pass the CSQ name to the integrated browser you must first have the script pass the CSQ name to the CAD. It needs to show in the top left panel where the ANI is currently displayed.
See this link for an example of how to create a layout and the script changes to pass a value to CAD.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3478154#3478154
You can then build a dynamic URL in the desktop administrator with the CSQ name.

  • Cursor behavior in CAD - UCCX

    UCCX version 9.0.2.11001-24
    Agent Desktop 9.0.2.1063
We recently upgraded from version 5.0 to the new version.  Since then, agents have complained that when they receive a skill call, the CAD window takes control of the mouse from whatever they were working on (document, email, etc).  Apparently this was not the case with the old version.
We have tried changing to the different window behavior under Preferences, but only Stealth makes a difference.  This is not an option for us, as our agents need to see the incoming call data on the screen.
Is this normal behavior in the current version?  Is it a known caveat that may be addressed in future updates?  Is there a fix that I haven't yet found?
    Thanks for any help,
    Alan Short
    American Kennel Club

What do you mean by "takes control of the mouse"? CAD will become the active window upon an incoming call. This is expected unless you use Stealth mode and has been the case as long as I can recall, though it's been years since I have tested a 5.0 system.

  • Upgrd UCCX- from 7.01 to 7.02- some agents cant get through CAD upgrade

A few days ago we upgrded our UCCX  and some agents can not upgrade the CAD or CSD.   Most of those that can't I had then completely uninstall all CAD and CSD on thier machine, then provided them with the new version .. most are successful with this method.
however I am having a few that are getting a pop up error that states :  License error has occurred, try agin in 5 minutes ...'  Then getting another window that states that the License Server is down'.
I checked the Services and all CCX services are running
I checked the Control Center  and the Status is  "In_Service"
We have not exceeded our number of configured agents and not exceeded out number of agents logged in.
    any suggestions ??

thanks, does either the restart of the Cisco Desktop License Manager  Service or the Directry Resync cause any disruption to calls or agents..... will anyone even know that this action was taken ?  (if so I have to wait until very late night or early morning ....

  • UCCX send entered digits to CAD display

    Hi,
I'm trying to get a set of numbers (that will be entered by the caller) to show up in the enterprise data fields in CAD.
Scenario would be that the caller would have to enter their customer number (7 digits) and when the call gets put through to an agent it would show as a data field.
I've created a new layout list with an extra field "222 Caller Entered Digits". What I'm not sure is how that layout list links to the agent/application/script.
I've also created a new work flow group as I wanted to just test this on one of our applications.
I was going to use the Get Digit String to collect the info, but then I'm not sure what to do with this. Do I need to use the Set Enterprise Call Info step?
An idiots guide would be most appreciated!
    Using UCCX 8.5.
    Thanks, Will

    You are pretty close.
Yes, you would need to use the Set Enterprise Info Step for two things:
    1) To store the Caller Entered Digits in your newly created Enterprise Field.  Use the name of the field which does not have spaces, and use double quotes.  E.g., If you Enterprise field has a name of "my_new_field" and a display name of "My New Field", then it's "my_new_field" you would use in the script editor.  The display name is just what shows up in CAD.
    2) To pick which layout CAD will use for the call.  You store this in the same place you store the above, only instead of using a field name you defined, you will use the system defined field: "user.layout" and set that equal to your newly created layout name.
Those two things alone should get you where you need to be.  Also, you didn't need a new workflow group for this, as the workflow group has nothing to do with Enterprise Data.
The document you would need to reference for this kind of stuff is the Cisco Desktop Administrator Guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/user/guide/cda85ccxug-cm.pdf
Good luck and happy enterprise data displaying!
