I'm traveling and purchased music for my laptop computer which is usually used for my daughter's iPod Shuffle. How do I put the purchased music on my iPod without replacing the music library from my home computer with the library from my laptop? The laptop iTunes recognizes my iPod but won't let me drag the songs to it.
Put another way, can I play the purchased songs on more then one iPod?

Have a new iPod touch-4th gen. Have iTunes already on computer, for a 3rd gen. Updated to lastest version of iTunes. New iPod is not showing up at all anywhere.

Hdiutil and creation of more then one partition in a dmg and sparse image?

My main question,
after reading the man page and googling, I can't find any way to create a DMG file with more then one partition. Is this even possible?
My finaly goal is to attach those with -mountRandom and - nobrowse from inside a cocoa.app.
I need the return value to get the random path to those partitions.
hdiutil attach test.dmg -mountrandom /Users/dev/Desktop/testdmg
/dev/disk7 GUIDpartitionscheme
/dev/disk7s1 Apple_HFS /Users/dev/Desktop/testdmg/dmg.A43MrA
But I see that when I use a mutli partition dmg ( here simulated ) I will have to look for one or more random paths, something like this.

to grep a line wich contains '/dmg./ and then awk print $3 ?

but what when I attach f.e a sparse image not using the -mountRandom, then I have no '/dmg.' just volumes?

I cannot get my ipod touch to update and restore through itunes (forgotten passcode)

My daughters 5th gen ipod touch will not update and restore in itunes after she changed and forgot her passcode. My laptop recognizes her ipod but says it needs the passcode to do anything. I've tried the restore and update options and it starts the update (telling me anywhere from 4-10 hours) and after a varied amount of time, it fails.
Any help? I have a very frustrated middle schooler!

Sorry for the newbe qestion but I need some advice for my daughters ipod. I have two libraries on two different computers. how do i set the itunes to manual sync. Can I also sync different ipods, we have several.

You don't set iTunes to manual, you set the iPod. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

There are a few different ways to use multiple iPods with one computer. However if the iPods are also being used with multiple computers then you'll be using the manual method regardless and not any form of auto-sync. i have purchased texas hold em from the istore. the girlfriend and i have different ipods. can i put the game on hers or does she have to purchase her own copy. thanks

If they are both video ipods, you should be ok
do you sync from different users, if so, locate the games original directory on your girlfriends user (probily my documents/my music/iTunes/ipod games/) and drag it into her itunes window, if it asks punch in your username and password for itunes, sync, then weyhey, done! (me hopes)

b) Where is the **** ITunes Library file stored? In the same folder where my data is stored?
c) what happens if you keep the Itunes file organized, but do not copy them into the designated ITunes folder?
Lnow that is a lot. However with ICloud here and my having three power PC computers this info is crucial since the previous instructions to copu to my idisc and put them in my various machines will be gone\.

I will share with you what I have done to manage this with my family. While the solution isn't without flawes, it seems to do the trick. First, you need to have one person who is managing the synching of everyone's devices. In my family, I have three iphones, about to be four, and five ipads. We all synch to the same apple ID to allow one another to take seemless advantage of our Itunes, which is on our Imac. To synch individual music or video interests, we simply select which playlists we want and manually synch that way. A couple of us use imatch and the cloud to make the entire library accessable as well. With respect to the imessage, mail, contacts, etc. we each have a gmail account for our individual emails, contacts etc. So for instance, my forth grade daughter has a gmail account that we choose to synch her contacts, calendar, etc to and then that is also the account where she receives her imessages from on her ipad and itouch. My son, who has an iphone and ipad, does the same thing, but under settings, he goes to imessage and checks his phone number and his email as his preferred way to receive imessages and texts. My wife and I do the same thing. To avoid having everyone see one anothers contracts etc, we only synch contacts from our individual email accounts. Here is the downfall to this: When you update your phone or add a new device, apple always wants to reset everyone's facetime and imessage settings and then low and behold we are all receiving imessages from one another's friends etc. To work around this, I simply take each of their devices and go to their imessage settings and only check the email and phone numbers relative to their devices. I dont' know is this is the best solution, but it seems to work for us.

to see which cert was expired
I used "Get-ExchangeCertificate –Thumbprint 91D4C277BE4DF5FA15FC76D936375B7766ABCC23 | New-ExchangeCertificate" to replace the expired cert
I re-ran "Get-ExchangeCertificate | Select CertificateDomains,Thumbprint,Status,Services | fl"
to see if it had worked
but now i have two certs one expired the other not. Can i delete the expired cert?????

Yes you can delete the expired certificate which are showing as it is not functional anymore and they remain as stale entries

We just got a few new MacBook Pro's and when I went to install updates it said I need to make an Apple ID. Can you use the same Apple ID and email address for that Apple ID on multiple machines, or do I need them both to be unique per machine? I'm not sure how that works when you have multiple machines.

To create an Apple ID you need to enter your full name and your primary email address as your Apple ID. This will be used as the contact email address for your account.

I want to publish my fathers books using iBooks Author. I'm going to set him up with an Apple ID, but he does not have a computer and I will be publishing it from my personal computer. I have a free books account and later applied for a paid books account.
This required setting up a new Apple ID and not using the same email or passwords.
So they are two totally separate accounts - on my computer.
That part is not a problem for you and your father.
The other aspect is both will need to open an iTunes Connect account for each ID.
I dont see delivery as a problem.
The part I am not sure about in your case is iTunes - as I only have me as usuer on the computer its never been an issue, but there is a Family sharing option available.
The previous post is the best starting point as you will both need separate accounts.
